Where the money in a luxury jar actually goes
Luxury customers never see the wax as such. They see the surface when they lift the lid, they smell the candle before and during the burn, and they judge the jar, the label and the box. The wax premium is real: ₹146.51 of CSI 468 in a 250 g jar against ₹116.70 of CSI 464. But it is rarely the biggest cost difference between an ordinary jar and a luxury one.
The oil moves the cost more than the wax
Compare two oils. Citrus Lemon is ₹2,832.00 per kg; Dark Vanilla is ₹7,646.00, about 2.7 times as much. A 250 g jar at 8% uses 20 g of oil either way. Choosing Dark Vanilla over Citrus Lemon adds more to each jar than choosing CSI 468 over CSI 464 does. Price a luxury line on the whole recipe, not on the wax alone.
Surface is where a premium wax earns its place
Soy frosting is cosmetic and does not affect the burn. A luxury buyer who lifts a lid on a white, crystalline bloom may not know that. This is the case for a coconut-soy blend such as CSI 468, the smoother-finish option in CSI's range, with a published pour of 58–60°C you can actually work to. If your customers accept a rustic soy top, CSI 464 saves you the premium.
Can the wax grow with the brand?
Premium Coconut Soy Wax puts ₹211.60 of wax into a 250 g jar and is listed only up to 1 kg. That is fine for a limited edition. It is a problem for a signature scent you hope will sell hundreds of jars, because every order is 1 kg bags or a quote. CSI 468 is listed up to 10 kg at ₹6,370.00 and falls to ₹637.00 per kg from 5 kg. Choose your signature wax with the second year in mind, not only the launch.
Mistake: upgrading the wax and leaving everything else unchanged. A premium wax in a plain jar with a basic label still reads as an ordinary candle. If the wax changes, look at the vessel and packaging too; CSI's Containers collection lists 81 products and Packaging lists 10. A luxury jar is a set of decisions, not one ingredient.
Test the lid moment
