When a 1 kg pack makes sense for a Pune maker

A 1 kg pack is the right buy when three things are true: the oil has passed a test burn in your wax and jar, you expect to sell that scent steadily, and you have a cool, dark shelf to keep it on. If any of those is missing, 100 g or 500 g is the better buy.

A worked example

Example: a Hinjewadi-based gifting start-up building a five-scent range, 400 × 200 g glass jar. At 8%, each candle takes 16.0 g of oil, so the order needs 6.40 kg. That is 7 kilograms (rounded up) — split across scents if the order is not single-scent. With Sandalwood at ₹5,026.80/kg, the oil for the whole order is about ₹32,172.

A Pune example with real numbers

Wedding and festive-favour studio. Small votives in large numbers for weddings and Diwali. A 120 g votive stretches a kilogram to over a hundred candles.

Say that buyer pours 400 candles of 120 g. At 8% each candle takes 9.6 g of oil, so the run needs 3.84 kg — about 3.8 kg in total, split across however many scents the run carries. If it were all Jasmine, the oil would cost about ₹15,064 at the 1 kg price.

A second Pune buyer: it-corridor gifting company (hinjewadi, kharadi, magarpatta). Year-end and Diwali employee gifts in large, single-scent batches. Clean, inoffensive profiles win; the brief is usually 'nobody should dislike it'. For 800 candles of 200 g at 8%, the oil comes to 12.80 kg — with Sandalwood at ₹5,026.80 per kg, about ₹64,343.

What Pune changes about buying a kilogram

Pune is on the Deccan plateau at roughly 560 m, with a strong June–September monsoon, a hot April–May and dry winters with cool nights. Pune's cool winter nights are the thing to plan for. Soy poured into a cold jar on a December evening is more likely to pull away from the glass, so warm the jars first.

Being in Pune means your order is dispatched from the same city. That does not mean every order can be collected in person — ask on WhatsApp for anything time-critical.
