It depends entirely on which bottle you are holding. The neat fragrance oil you bought to make a diffuser is usually the same product a candle wants, and CSI's pages state both rates — 6–10% in wax, 10–30% in a diffuser base. A ready-mixed diffuser oil is fragrance already let down into a carrier built for reeds or water, and that carrier has no business in wax.

Can I use my diffuser fragrance oil in a candle? If it is neat fragrance oil, yes — provided its page states a candle load. CSI's candle-led pages state both: Sandalwood reads "Candles Up to 10%" and "Reed Diffusers 10-30% Start at 10% with CSI diffuser base". Same bottle, two jobs.Can I pour a ready-made diffuser oil into wax? No. It is fragrance already blended into a base at 10–30%, so reaching 16 g of fragrance in a 200 g candle would mean adding 64 g of blended liquid — 48 g of it carrier. That is 32% of the candle, against a stated wax maximum of 10–13%.
Why not just swap the base for the wax? Because the bases are formulated for a different job. CSI's reed and car bases state "Blend with 10-30% fragrance oil"; the ultrasonic base is described as a "Professional Water-Soluble High Diffusion Fragrance Base" engineered to disperse oil in water. No base page states a candle application.
So where does each oil belong? One kilo of oil makes about 62 × 200 g candles at 8%, or 33 × 120 ml reed diffusers at 25%, or 100 × 100 ml room sprays at 10%. Pick the format the scent performs in and buy the right base for it.
The short answer
Neat fragrance oil, page states a candle load: pour it in wax at 6–10% and burn test. The words "diffuser oil" on your shelf label describe what you last used it for, not what it is.
Ready-mixed diffuser oil (oil already in a base): keep it for diffusers. There is no load at which it also works as a candle fragrance, and the arithmetic is in the table below.
Diffuser bases are not wax additives: CSI's five reed and car bases, the HyperDiffusion base, the ultrasonic concentrate base and the room-spray base are each formulated for their own format, with their own stated blend percentage. Do not substitute one into a candle.

In this guide
All three candles contain the same 16 g of fragrance. The difference is what came along with it: 48 g of reed-diffuser base in row two, 55.1 g of ultrasonic concentrate base in row three, both calculated from the blend percentages those products' own pages state. Every gram of that carrier displaces wax and pushes the candle's non-wax liquid to 32% and 35.6% — against a stated wax ceiling of 10% to 13%.

Can diffuser fragrance oil be used in candles, and what about the diffuser base?
Two questions, two different answers. Neat fragrance oil bought for a diffuser is almost always usable in wax, because it is the same material sold for both — CSI's candle-led pages publish the two rates side by side. Sandalwood states "Candles Up to 10%", "Wax Melts Up to 12%" and "Reed Diffusers 10-30% Start at 10% with CSI diffuser base"; Citrus Lemon states candles 6–10% and reed diffusers 10–30%. So check the page for a candle percentage, pour at it, obey your wax's ceiling — up to 13% on Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, up to 10% on CSI 464 — and burn test. A finished diffuser oil is a different object: fragrance already blended into a base at the 10–30% those base pages state. To put the 16 g of fragrance a 200 g candle carries at 8% into wax that way, you would add 64 g of blended liquid, 48 g of which is carrier — 32% of the candle, against a wax formulated to hold 10–13% of oil. It does not work at any load, and it is not what the bases are for: CSI's five reed and car bases say "Blend with 10-30% fragrance oil", the Ultrasonic Diffusion Concentrate Base says "Add 20–25% fragrance oil into this base" and describes itself as water-soluble, and none of them mentions candles. Buy the neat oil for the candle and the base for the diffuser; they are separate products because they are separate jobs.
One line: the oil crosses formats, the base does not — read the page for a candle percentage, and never pour a diffuser base into a candle.

Two different things called diffuser oil
One of them is a raw material with two stated uses. The other is a finished product with one.
The phrase does the damage. "Diffuser oil" covers both the concentrated fragrance oil you buy by weight and the ready-to-pour liquid that goes straight into a reed bottle, and those two behave completely differently in wax. Sort yours before you melt anything.

The useful consequence is the first row: if you have been buying CSI oils for reed diffusers, you already own candle fragrance — the same bottles, at a different percentage. The reverse holds too, which is why this question deserves better than a flat no: a scent that underperformed in wax often has a second life in a diffuser, where there is no melt pool and no cure to survive.
The shelf-label trap. Makers who run two product lines end up with bottles labelled "diffuser" and bottles labelled "candle" that are chemically the same thing at the same price. That is fine for stock control and disastrous for buying decisions, because it makes you order twice. Label by scent and handle, not by format, and write both stated percentages on the bottle — "candles 6-10% / reed 10-30%" — so the next person at the bench does not have to guess. What CSI's bases are formulated to do
CSI lists seven bases across the diffuser and spray formats, and every one of them publishes its own blend percentage. Reading them together makes the point better than any argument: these are carrier systems, each engineered for one delivery method, and the delivery method is never a flame.

One more sits in the collection without a published ratio: CSI HyperDiffusion Base at ₹1,499 states no fragrance percentage anywhere on its page, so this guide does not supply one — ask CSI for the blend rate before you use it. That is the honest position on any product whose page is silent: the number comes from the supplier, not from a blog and not from a similar product.
Notice how specific the ultrasonic base is
Its page describes the exact failure it was built to solve — "oil floating on water, weak scent diffusion, foam formation, or poor mist performance" — and calls itself a "professional-grade solubilising base designed to help fragrance oils disperse properly in water". That is a base whose entire purpose is to make oil behave in water. A candle is the opposite environment: a solid fat that has to hold oil in solution and then release it from a hot pool. Nothing about water-solubility helps there, which is the clearest illustration in the CSI range of why a base belongs to its format. The stated method is also its own product design: add 20–25% fragrance, rest 2–5 days, then dose 2–4 ml per 100 ml of water.Why a base does not belong in wax
Not a rule, an arithmetic problem. A candle's fragrance load is capped by the wax: up to 13% on Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (8–13%, 10% recommended) and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468, up to 10% on CSI 464. Those are the wax makers' stated formulation limits — the most oil that wax will hold in solution. Now put a pre-blended diffuser liquid into that budget.

Worked out above: grams of liquid = 16 g ÷ the blend's fragrance share; carrier = the remainder; non-wax share = grams of liquid ÷ 200 g. So a 25% reed blend is 16 ÷ 0.25 = 64 g, of which 48 g is base, or 32% of the candle. The wax ceilings are the wax pages' stated maximums on a 200 g candle: 20 g of oil at 10%, 26 g at 13%. Those are formulation limits set by the wax, not regulatory limits.
And "just use less" does not rescue it. Pour 20 g of a 25% reed blend — a sensible-looking quantity — and you have delivered 5 g of fragrance, a 2.5% load, plus 15 g of carrier the wax never asked for. You get a candle that smells of very little and still has a fifteen-gram liquid problem: unbound carrier is what migrates during cure, films the surface and interferes with the wick, exactly as surplus oil does past the ceiling. The mechanism is the same one described in can too much fragrance oil make a candle smell weaker. There is no version of this that is cheaper than buying 16 g of neat oil.
One honest caveat, about evidence rather than chemistry. No CSI base page states what happens in wax, because none of them is sold for wax — so nothing here claims a tested outcome. What is stated is each base's format and percentage; what is arithmetic is the table above. Together they settle the decision without inventing a lab result. One kilo of oil: where it goes furthest
This is the table that turns the question into a purchasing decision. Take one kilogram of a single fragrance oil and spend it in each format at the rate the oil's own page states. The counts assume Sandalwood Fragrance Oil at ₹5,026.80 per kilo, which states every one of these rates.

Two things jump out. A reed diffuser at 25% uses nearly twice the fragrance of a 200 g candle — 30 g against 16 g — which is why diffuser pricing has to be higher and why "start at 10%" is worth taking literally. And votives and wax melts are where a kilo stretches: 178 votives or 138 clamshells from one bottle against 33 diffusers. If a scent is expensive, the format changes the economics more than any discount will.
Percentages of what, exactly
The diffuser bases say "Blend with 10-30% fragrance oil" without specifying weight or volume, and the bases are sold in millilitres while the oils are sold in grams. Two habits keep you out of trouble: weigh both parts on the same scale so your blend is reproducible, and write the convention on the batch card. The costings on this page treat a 120 ml bottle as 90 ml of base plus 30 g of oil — a working assumption for pricing, not a stated specification. The number that matters is not which is dearer — it is that the diffuser's ₹518.82 is 68% carrier, bottle and reeds. That is the money you would be throwing at a candle if you poured a ready-made diffuser oil into wax: you would be buying base you cannot use and a fragrance load you cannot reach. Meanwhile the candle route needs ₹80.43 of the same oil and a wax you were buying anyway.

The cleanest example of an oil that genuinely crosses formats, and its page does the work for you: "Candles Up to 10%", "Candles Up to 6%" for paraffin, "Wax Melts Up to 12%", "Reed Diffusers 10-30% Start at 10% with CSI diffuser base" and "Room Sprays 8-15% Of total spray base", with a stated cure of 48–72 hours for soy and a measured "Flashpoint 203°C" — one of only 18 CSI fragrance pages that publish a measured value. The page even names the bases it pairs with for diffusers. A heavy base structure is also what survives a melt pool, so this is a scent that behaves in both products rather than one dressed up for both.

Pure Performance Reed Base Oil
The base to start on, because it is the only one in the collection listed in a small size: 100 g at ₹325 alongside the 500 ml bottle at ₹1,099. Its page states "Blend with 10-30% fragrance oil." and positions it for reed and car diffusers wanting strong throw and impact. Several CSI fragrance pages name it directly — Citrus Lemon's reed-diffuser row reads "Pairs best with CSI Pure Performance Base or Lift Base" — which is a more useful recommendation than anything a general guide can offer. Note that the two packs are stated in different units — 100 g and 500 ml — so the per-100 column below divides each price by its own stated quantity, and you should weigh rather than assume when you blend.

CSI Ultrasonic Diffusion Concentrate Base
Worth reading even if you never buy it, because its page states plainly what a base is for. It calls itself a "Professional Water-Soluble High Diffusion Fragrance Base" and a "professional-grade solubilising base designed to help fragrance oils disperse properly in water", built against the problems of "oil floating on water, weak scent diffusion, foam formation, or poor mist performance". The method is stated: "Add 20–25% fragrance oil into this base", mix, rest 2–5 days, then 2–4 ml per 100 ml of water in the tank. It also notes that "very heavy gourmand or resinous fragrances may require additional testing". None of that is a candle instruction, and it is not meant to be. One price is listed, ₹1,649, and the listing states no pack volume or weight — ask on WhatsApp if you need the fill size before ordering.

The CSI principle
The fragrance travels between formats. The carrier never does.
Wax, diffuser base, spray base and ultrasonic concentrate are four different ways of holding the same oil and releasing it — by melting, by capillary action up a reed, by evaporation from a mist, by ultrasonic dispersion in water. Buy the oil once. Buy the carrier the format needs.
Moving one scent across both formats
The right way round: one bottle of neat oil, two finished products, one week of work and a record of both.
Do this when a scent has earned a second format — a candle that sells, or a diffuser customers reorder. It costs one 100 g bottle of oil plus the carriers, and it produces evidence rather than an opinion.

Is diffuser fragrance oil the same as candle fragrance oil?
If it is neat oil, usually yes — the same CSI bottles are sold for both, and the pages state both rates. Lavender publishes "Candles 6-10%", "Wax Melts 10-15%", "Reed Diffusers 10-30% Of total diffuser base" and "Room Sprays 8-15%". What differs is the percentage and the carrier, not the material. A ready-mixed diffuser oil is a different thing: fragrance already let down into a base, and that belongs in a reed bottle.
Can I add reed diffuser base to candle wax to make the scent stronger?
No. The base is a carrier, and a candle already has one — the wax. Adding it does not raise the fragrance in the candle, it only displaces wax: pouring 64 g of a 25% blend to reach a normal 16 g fragrance load puts 48 g of carrier into a 200 g candle, or 32% of its weight, against a wax stating a 10–13% maximum. Can I use candle fragrance oil in a reed diffuser?

Can I use the ultrasonic diffuser base in candles?
No. Its page describes it as a "Professional Water-Soluble High Diffusion Fragrance Base" and a solubilising base "designed to help fragrance oils disperse properly in water" — the opposite requirement to a candle, where the oil has to stay in solution in a solid fat and release from a hot pool. It states a 20–25% fragrance blend, a 2–5 day rest and a dose of 2–4 ml per 100 ml of water, and it states nothing about wax. Use it for ultrasonic diffusers and humidifiers as written.
My fragrance oil worked in a diffuser but was weak in a candle. Why?
The two formats reward different profiles. A reed diffuser releases at room temperature over weeks, which flatters light, volatile top notes; a candle releases from a hot melt pool, which rewards heavier, slower materials. Before blaming the oil, check the ordinary suspects: a full 14–21 day cure, a wick that opens the pool to the glass in two to three hours, and the load you actually used. If it still reads thin, keep it as diffuser stock — 12 g fills a 120 ml bottle at 10%.
