Spend ₹10,000 to prove the candle, then let sales unlock ₹25,000, ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh. The candle never changes; the range grows only through gates you set in advance.

saleable candles at the ₹10,000, ₹25,000, ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh stages · CSI 464 · White Matte · 3 to 8 scents · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does each stage buy? ₹10,000: 3 scents, 18 candles · ₹25,000: 5 scents, 68 candles · ₹50,000: 6 scents, 157 candles · ₹1,00,000: 8 scents, 305 candles.

What triggers the next stage? A sales gate you write down before the stage: sell-through at full price, repeat buyers, low rejects, and from Gate C a steady monthly run-rate.

Does the candle change between stages? No. Same wax, jar, fill, load and wick throughout — a change would void the tests the plan relies on.

How much is held back? Each stage keeps a cash reserve of 14%, 19%, 12%, 15% for fixes and reorders.
The short answer
Answer: Plan four stages, fund one at a time: ₹10,000 to test, ₹25,000 for first sales, ₹50,000 for a steady range, ₹1 lakh for commercial stock — each unlocked by a sales gate.
Numbers: Saleable candles 18 → 68 → 157 → 305; cost per saleable candle ₹479.00 → ₹277.13; scents 3 → 8.
Method: Fix the candle → Stage 1 ladder → gate A → add scents → gate B → depth by sales → gate C → packs by run-rate → reserve every stage.
Four funded stages, three sales gates Bar height ∝ stage budget · each stage: one wax, one jar, approved wick · scents added only after a gate ₹10,000 Testing 18 candles · 3 scents reserve ₹1,377.92 A ₹25,000 First sales 68 candles · 5 scents reserve ₹4,835.92 B ₹50,000 Steady range 157 candles · 6 scents reserve ₹5,775.72 C ₹1,00,000 Commercial 305 candles · 8 scents reserve ₹15,476.46 Gates are sales tests you write down in advance (examples on this page). A stage that fails its gate is repeated, not skipped. Material cost per saleable candle falls from ₹479.00 (Stage 1, incl. tests and tools) to ₹277.13 (Stage 4).
Stage budgets to scale, with the three gates between them. Candle counts and reserves are this page's computed figures; gate thresholds are examples you replace. The 200 g fill is illustrative — weigh your jar.
Straight answer
How do I build a candle startup purchase plan that moves from ₹10,000 testing inventory to ₹25,000, ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh commercial inventory as sales grow?
Plan four stages around one fixed candle, and fund each stage only when the previous one passes a sales gate you wrote down in advance. With one wax (CSI 464), one jar (White Matte, 200 g illustrative) and one wick chosen by a Stage 1 ladder: ₹10,000 buys 3 scents and 18 saleable candles for ₹8,622.08, keeping ₹1,377.92; ₹25,000 buys 5 scents and 68 saleable candles for ₹20,164.08, keeping ₹4,835.92; ₹50,000 buys 6 scents and 157 saleable candles for ₹44,224.28, keeping ₹5,775.72; ₹1,00,000 buys 8 scents and 305 saleable candles for ₹84,523.54, keeping ₹15,476.46. Gate A asks whether the candle works and sells at full price; Gate B tells you which scents sell, so Stage 3 goes deep in them; Gate C gives a monthly run-rate, which sets Stage 4's pack sizes. Cost per saleable candle falls from ₹479.00 to ₹277.13 — mostly from spreading one-off costs, because CSI 464, the jar and Eco wicks are flat-priced. Never move to the next stage on a date; move on a gate.
One line: plan four stages, fund one at a time, let sales start the next.
The four-stage plan on this page spends ₹10,000 → ₹25,000 → ₹50,000 → ₹1,00,000 on one wax (CSI 464), one jar (White Matte), one approved wick and a scent range that grows from 3 to 8 — moving to the next stage only when sales pass a gate you set in advance. Saleable candles per stage: 18 → 68 → 157 → 305. Every stage keeps a reserve. The wax throughout: CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg.

The plan on one page

A purchase plan that grows with sales has two parts: what each stage buys, and what has to happen before the next stage is allowed to start.

This is the capstone of the budget shopping-list cluster. The earlier posts each answered one budget question; this one strings them together into a single plan that a new candle business can follow from its first test candle to a ₹1 lakh commercial order. The candle stays the same throughout — a 200 g White Matte jar (illustrative fill; CSI does not publish fill weights for its glass jars (only the 85 g Golden Aluminium Tin and the 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar have published fills)), CSI 464 at 8%, an Eco wick chosen by a ladder in Stage 1 — because changing the candle mid-plan would void the tests the plan depends on. What grows is the number of scents and the depth of stock in the ones that sell.

Stage by stage
Stage Budget Scents Candles CSI spend Reserve Cost per saleable candle
1 · Testing ₹10,000.00 3 18 + 9 tests ₹8,622.08 ₹1,377.92 (14%) ₹479.00
2 · First sales ₹25,000.00 5 68 + 2 tests ₹20,164.08 ₹4,835.92 (19%) ₹296.53
3 · Steady range ₹50,000.00 6 157 + 1 tests ₹44,224.28 ₹5,775.72 (12%) ₹281.68
4 · Commercial ₹1,00,000.00 8 305 + 2 tests ₹84,523.54 ₹15,476.46 (15%) ₹277.13

The cost per saleable candle falls from ₹479.00 in Stage 1 to ₹277.13 in Stage 4. Most of that drop is not bulk discounting — CSI 464, the White Matte jar and Eco wicks are flat-priced at every listed pack — but the one-off costs of Stage 1 (tools, a wick ladder and 9 test candles against only 18 to sell) being spread over more candles, plus the oil moving from 50 g and 100 g bottles to 500 g and 1 kg where a scent has a real per-gram step. The bulk-timing post lists every such step.

The CSI principle
Money moves to the next stage only when candles move to customers.
Each gate is a sales test written down before the stage starts. A stage that fails its gate is repeated or changed — never skipped.

The three gates

The gates are what make this a sales-triggered plan rather than a spending schedule. Each is a short list of conditions you decide before the stage begins and check honestly after it ends. The thresholds below are labelled examples — CSI publishes no demand data and cannot tell you what sell-through is good for your market — so set your own and write them down.

Example thresholds · replace with your own before each stage starts
What unlocks the next stage
Gate Pass conditions (examples) What it decides for the next stage
A · ₹10,000 → ₹25,000 Wick passed its ladder; at least 12 of 18 candles sold at full price; no burn complaints Which scent sold first; buyer comments on throw
B · ₹25,000 → ₹50,000 At least 48 of 68 sold within your selling window (example 8 weeks); repeat buyers for two or more scents; rejects near 5% Sales by scent — this sets Stage 3's depth
C · ₹50,000 → ₹1 lakh Two consecutive months at a steady run-rate (example: 60+ candles a month); Stage 3 stock 70% sold; best sellers clear Run-rate by scent — this sets Stage 4's packs

Each gate also answers a buying question. Gate A confirms the candle works and that people will pay; it unlocks two more scents. Gate B tells you which scents sell, and Stage 3 puts its depth there. Gate C gives you a monthly run-rate, which is what Stage 4's pack sizes are calculated from — a 1 kg bottle only makes sense once a scent is selling enough to use it in a couple of months. The smallest-pilot post covers an even smaller Stage 0 if ₹10,000 feels like too much to risk on an untested idea.

Treating the stages as a calendar. "Month one ₹10,000, month two ₹25,000…" turns a sales-triggered plan into a spending plan, and the stock arrives whether or not the candles sold. Fix: the trigger is the gate, not the date. If Gate B takes four months instead of two, Stage 3 waits — and the reserve from Stage 2 funds reorders of what is selling in the meantime. Growing 20% a month shows how to raise purchases with sales rather than ahead of them.

Reserve ₹1,377.92 · 14% ₹4,835.92 · 19% ₹5,775.72 · 12% ₹15,476.46 · 15%

Three things change as the plan grows. Tools and the wick ladder disappear after Stage 1 — they are one-off costs. The jar share stays high throughout, because the White Matte jar is ₹70.80 at every pack size; a cheaper or capped jar would lower it, but swapping the jar mid-plan means a new wick ladder (why one jar). And the fragrance share rises as the range widens and deepens, which is exactly where a growing candle business should be spending: on the variety customers choose between.

The four priced lists

Each list below is rounded to CSI's cheapest sensible in-stock packs (oils prefer one larger bottle over many small ones when it costs within about ₹100 more), with the allowance stack used across this series: test candles as whole candles, a 5% re-pour allowance on consumables, 4% pour loss on wax and oil, 2% breakage on glass, then rounding. Each stage is priced as a standalone purchase; anything left over from the previous stage is a bonus buffer, not counted. Production wicks are priced as Eco Thick C2, the dearer of the two ladder candidates, so the budget holds whichever wins.

The scent splits in Stages 3 and 4 are examples — in this illustration Lavender and Roasted Coffee are the scents that sold best at Gate B, so they get the most depth. Your own Gate B results replace them. The eight oils are all near the top of CSI's best-selling sort, which is a reasonable place to start a list, not evidence that they will sell for you; CSI publishes no demand data.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A supplier would prefer you to spend ₹1 lakh in one go. This plan spends ₹10,000 first and makes every later rupee wait for sales. It also keeps you on flat-priced materials — CSI 464, White Matte jars, Eco wicks — where buying bigger packs saves nothing, so you can keep buying them in the sizes you use. Only the oils with real per-gram steps move to 500 g and 1 kg, and only once a scent sells enough to use them.

How sales can fund the next stage

A sales-triggered plan is easier to follow when you can see the sales. The table uses an example selling price of ₹499.00 and an example sell-through of 70% — both yours to replace — to show how much of the next stage each stage's sales could cover. Revenue here is before packaging, platform or payment fees, courier, labour and GST, which all come out of it; it is not profit.

EXAMPLE price ₹499.00 and sell-through 70% · not CSI figures · revenue before all other costs
Sales against the next stage's budget
Stage Candles to sell Sold at 70% Example revenue Next stage budget Share covered
Stage 1 18 12 ₹5,988.00 ₹25,000.00 24%
Stage 2 68 47 ₹23,453.00 ₹50,000.00 47%
Stage 3 157 109 ₹54,391.00 ₹1,00,000.00 54%
Stage 4 305 213 ₹1,06,287.00 — —

The pattern is the point, not the figures: early stages cannot fund the next on their own, because each stage is bigger than the last. The gap is your own cash, and the reserve kept in each stage is what stops a slow month from stalling the plan. If your real price or sell-through is lower, the gaps are bigger and the gates should be stricter, not looser. Keeping ₹25,000 back for packaging and surprises shows one way to ring-fence non-raw-material money at the ₹1 lakh stage.

Rules that keep the plan honest

1
Never change the candle mid-planSame wax, jar, fill, load and wick from Stage 1 to Stage 4. A change of any one is a retest, and belongs before a stage, not inside one.
2
Write the gate before the stageThresholds decided after the results always pass. Write them down when you place the stage's order.
3
New scents enter with a confirmation candleOne candle per new oil with the approved wick, poured and burned before the stage's batch.
4
Depth follows sales, breadth follows gatesBest sellers get more candles; new scents are added only at a gate, and only a couple at a time.
5
Keep the reserve as cashIt funds reorders of what is selling and fixes for what is not. Spending it on new materials early breaks the plan.
6
Switch to bulk only where it paysFrom Stage 3 on, check each material's per-unit steps against your run-rate before buying bigger packs.
If a gate fails
Repeat the stage with one change — a scent swapped, a price adjusted, a different sales channel — and keep the same candle. If the failure is a burn or safety complaint, go back to the Stage 1 bench tests before selling another candle.
Plan four stages. Fund one at a time. Let customers decide when the next one starts.

The one jar · fill not published
White Matte Glass Jar
CSI does not publish fill weights for its glass jars (only the 85 g Golden Aluminium Tin and the 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar have published fills); the plan uses an illustrative 200 g. ₹70.80 a jar in packs of 5 and 10 — no bulk break, so the 10-pack is simply fewer boxes.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A plan that makes every rupee after the first ₹10,000 wait for sales is not the biggest order we could suggest. It is the one most likely to reach Stage 4.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026; oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026; jar, wick and sticker packs are from the CSI listing re-checked 4 October 2026; the scale and thermometer are Blog 760 figures, verified 10 September 2026. Every stage list, category share, reserve and per-candle cost is computed to two decimals, and each stage sums exactly to its budget.

The 200 g fill, the 8% load, the 5% re-pour, 4% pour-loss and 2% breakage allowances, the scent splits, the gate thresholds, the ₹499.00 price and 70% sell-through are labelled examples. CSI publishes no demand, throw or wick-sizing data. For stage pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How should a candle business spend its first ₹1 lakh?
In stages: ₹10,000 to test, then ₹25,000, ₹50,000 and the rest, each unlocked by sales. ₹1 lakh without dead stock covers the single-order version.
How many candles can ₹10,000 of raw materials make?
In this plan's Stage 1, 18 saleable candles plus 9 test candles in 200 g White Matte jars, including a scale, thermometer and wick ladder, with ₹1,377.92 kept back.
When should I add more candle scents?
At a gate, a couple at a time, each with one confirmation candle on the approved wick — and only after the existing scents are selling.
What sales target should unlock the next stage?
Set your own before the stage starts. This page's examples: two-thirds sold at full price for Gate A, 70% within a selling window for Gate B, and a steady monthly run-rate for Gate C.
Should I change wax or jar as I grow?
Not inside the plan. Any change is a retest; make it between stages, deliberately, with a control candle.
When does buying in bulk start to pay?
Only where the per-unit price really drops and your run-rate uses the pack in time. The bulk-timing post lists every step.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Load is a share of finished weight (oil = W × L; 200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax). CSI does not publish fill weights for its glass jars (only the 85 g Golden Aluminium Tin and the 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar have published fills); the 200 g fill is illustrative. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, fragrance load up to 13%, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Natural Soy Pearl — no melt point, pour temperature, fragrance ceiling or shelf life published. The 5% re-pour, 4% pour-loss and 2% breakage allowances, test counts, scent splits, gate thresholds, the ₹499.00 example price and 70% example sell-through are labelled examples. 'Near the top of CSI's best-selling sort' refers to the collection's sort order on the pull date, not to sales figures. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST.
