I Don't Want to Buy Candle Materials From Five Different Suppliers — Is There a One-Stop Candle Making Supplier in India?
शेयर करना
What does splitting across five suppliers actually cost? On stated assumptions: 60 orders a year instead of 12, roughly 25 hours of admin instead of 5, and five freight charges a month instead of one. The arithmetic is below, with every assumption written down.
What is the real argument? Reliability compounds badly. Five suppliers at 90% on time each gives you 0.9 × 0.9 × 0.9 × 0.9 × 0.9 = 59%. Four months in ten, something is late — and the pour waits for the last box.
What does consolidating not fix? A thin category. Our wick range is only 7 products and packaging is only 10. Buy those where they are deep, and keep buying commodity paraffin and cartons locally.
What five suppliers actually costs you
Let us name it precisely, because "it's a hassle" is not a number and numbers are what change a decision. A five-supplier month looks like this. Five order confirmations to file. Five tracking numbers, each on a different courier's site, each with its own idea of what "out for delivery" means. Five delivery windows that do not overlap, so somebody has to be at the workshop on five different days. Five invoices to reconcile against five payments for one month's production. Five people to chase, none of whom knows what the other four are doing. And underneath all of it, one hard fact: the batch cannot be poured until the last box lands.
Now the arithmetic, with the assumptions stated openly so you can substitute your own. Assumption one: one order per supplier per month. Assumption two: 25 minutes of your time per order, end to end — comparing options, building the cart, paying, saving the confirmation, checking tracking at least twice, being there to receive it, counting it in, filing the GST invoice, and sending the one message you always end up sending. Assumption three: ₹150 of freight per consignment, a placeholder — replace it with what you actually pay, because freight is charged per consignment and that is the point.
| What you handle | Five suppliers | One supplier | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orders placed | 60 a year | 12 a year | 48 fewer |
| Admin time at 25 min/order | 1,500 min = 25 hours | 300 min = 5 hours | 20 hours — about two and a half working days |
| Freight at ₹150/consignment | ₹9,000 | ₹1,800 | ₹7,200 on the assumed rate |
| Invoices to reconcile | 60 | 12 | 48 fewer entries in the books |
| Tracking numbers to watch | 60 | 12 | 48 fewer things to forget |
| Deliveries to be present for | 60 days | 12 days | 48 days you can spend pouring |
Twenty hours and ₹7,200 is not life-changing on its own, and we will not pretend otherwise. What matters is where the hours fall: not evenly across the year, but in the week before a festival deadline, when you have the least of them. Working back from Diwali on 8 November 2026: a soy container candle wants 14 to 21 days of cure before it is worth shipping, which is standard practice rather than a rule, and dispatch needs its own runway. That puts your last useful pour date in early October and your material deadline in the second half of September. Every day the fifth parcel is late in that window is a day removed from cure, not from slack — because there is no slack left.
There is a second, quieter cost: you cannot see your own spend. With five accounts, "what did materials cost last month" is a reconstruction across five inboxes. With one it is a single number — the one you need before you can work out what to charge for the candle. Makers who cannot state their cost per unit discover their margin by accident, usually downwards.
The late-delivery maths, which is the actual argument
Everything above is inconvenience. This part is the reason to change how you buy, and it is a single line of arithmetic worth doing slowly.
Suppose each of your five suppliers is good. Not perfect — good. Each one delivers on schedule 90% of the time. That is a supplier you would recommend. Nine times out of ten, the parcel is there when they said it would be. Now ask the only question that matters for your production calendar: what is the chance that all five are on time in the same month?
| Suppliers | Each 85% on time | Each 90% on time | Each 95% on time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 85.0% | 90.0% | 95.0% |
| 2 | 72.3% | 81.0% | 90.3% |
| 3 | 61.4% | 72.9% | 85.7% |
| 4 | 52.2% | 65.6% | 81.5% |
| 5 | 44.4% | 59.0% | 77.4% |
Read the middle column downwards and then read the 95% column. Even five excellent suppliers — 95% each, better than almost anyone manages through a monsoon or a festival week — land everything on time only 77% of the time. The lesson is not that your suppliers are bad. It is that the number of suppliers is itself a risk multiplier, and it is the one variable you fully control.
What consolidating fixes, and what it does not
Consolidation fixes schedule risk, freight, admin hours and visibility of spend. It does not fix a thin category, and a supplier who tells you otherwise is selling you a compromise dressed as convenience. Here is where CSI is deep and where it is not, taken from the live catalogue on 10 September 2026.
| Category | Products live | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrance Oils | 92 | Deep. Sizes from 15 g to 1 kg, so you can trial and scale on the same order |
| Containers | 80 | Deep, but check stock — a meaningful number of colours and ceramics were out on the pull date |
| Candle Accessories | 65 | Deep. Wick tools, stickers, holders, trimmers, care labels |
| Candle Moulds | 62 curated | Deep. ₹153.40 to ₹3,540, most silicone designs between ₹177 and ₹943 |
| Candle Dyes | 25 | Adequate. Liquid dyes, chips and mica; liquid entry price ₹236 for 15 ml |
| Candle Wax | 15 | Adequate for soy, coconut-soy, beeswax, gel and pillar. Thin on paraffin — two listings |
| Packaging Materials | 10 | Thin. Not a substitute for a carton and mailer supplier |
| Candle Wicks | 7 | Thin. Fine if Eco C1/C2, cotton braided or wooden suit your jars. Not a full wick programme |
Take the wick line seriously. Seven products covers Eco Candle Wicks in Thin (C1) and Thick (C2), cotton braided ready-mades, imported wooden wicks, braided wick on the metre and a 61-metre roll with tabs. If your recipe is built around a specific numbered series from a specific manufacturer, that series is not on our shelf, and swapping a wick changes the melt pool and therefore the throw. Keep that supplier. Buy the other nine lines from us and accept that your basket has one exception in it. A four-supplier chain at 90% each is 65.6%; a two-supplier chain is 81%. You do not need the perfect answer to get most of the benefit.
One more thing consolidation does not do: it does not make the goods cheaper. There is no bundle discount for putting ten lines in one cart. Wax is ₹507.40/kg on its own and ₹507.40/kg alongside jars and dye. What changes is freight, hours and risk. If someone offers a one-stop arrangement on the promise of a lower unit price, ask which line item is going down and by how much, and check the product page. The consolidated basket at 100 candles a month
Here is what one order looks like in practice. The brief: 100 candles a month, 200 g fill, in a 200 ml glass jar, at an 8% fragrance load — that is 184 g of wax and 16 g of oil per candle, so 18.4 kg of wax and 1.6 kg of oil for the month. Four scents. All prices are CSI live pricing, September 2026, and the linked product page is always authoritative.
| Line | Bought as | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) | 2 × 10 kg = 20 kg | ₹10,148.00 |
| Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil | 500 g | ₹3,840.00 |
| Woody Oud Fragrance Oil | 500 g | ₹2,265.60 |
| British Rose Fragrance Oil | 500 g | ₹1,593.00 |
| Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil | 500 g | ₹1,420.00 |
| 200ml Salsa Glass Jar, golden lid | 100 pcs @ ₹29.50 | ₹2,950.00 |
| Eco Candle Wicks, Thick (C2) | 100 wicks @ ₹9.44 | ₹944.00 |
| Candle Wick Stickers | 3 sheets × 40 = 120 | ₹300.00 |
| Candle Dye Liquid, Red | 50 ml | ₹472.00 |
| Candle Care Stickers Roll | 500 × 1 inch @ ₹0.83 | ₹413.00 |
| Total, one order | 10 lines, 1 invoice, 1 delivery window | ₹24,345.60 |
Be careful with the per-candle figure, because ₹24,345.60 ÷ 100 = ₹243.46 is not your material cost per candle. That basket deliberately over-buys: 20 kg of wax for an 18.4 kg month, 2 kg of oil for a 1.6 kg month, 120 stickers for 100 candles, plus a dye bottle and a roll of 500 care stickers that will last several months. The honest marginal figure is what one more candle consumes: 184 g of CSI 464 at ₹0.5074/g = ₹93.36, one jar at ₹29.50, one Thick (C2) wick at ₹9.44, one wick sticker at ₹2.50, one care sticker at ₹0.83, plus 16 g of oil. With Citrus Lemon at ₹2.84/g that is ₹45.44 of fragrance and ₹181.07 a candle; with Vanilla Bean at ₹7.68/g it is ₹122.88 and ₹258.51 a candle. Same wax, same jar, same wick — the fragrance choice moves your cost by ₹77 a unit, a bigger lever than consolidation will ever give you.
| Size | Price | Per kg | 200g candles @ 8% |

| 500 g | ₹260.00 | ₹520.00 | ≈2 |
| 1 kg | ₹507.40 | ₹507.40 | ≈5 |
| 5 kg | ₹2,537.00 | ₹507.40 | ≈27 |
| 10 kg | ₹5,074.00 | ₹507.40 | ≈54 |
| Pack | Price | Per jar | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 pcs | ₹200.60 | ₹40.12 | a sample run |
| 50 pcs | ₹1,475.00 | ₹29.50 | half a month |
| 100 pcs | ₹2,950.00 | ₹29.50 | the full month |
What to keep buying separately, and how to place one combined order
Consolidating well means being deliberate about the exceptions rather than pretending there are none. Four things should stay off the CSI order in most cases, and we would rather say so than have you discover it after paying freight on a box of air.
| Item | Why it stays separate |
|---|---|
| Commodity paraffin at volume | Semi Refined Paraffin at ₹220/kg and Fully Refined Paraffin Pellets at ₹354/kg are correct prices for 1 kg quantities and fine for testing. Paraffin is a commodity — if a local wax dealer quotes you below ₹220/kg on drum quantities, take it. We would rather sell you soy. |
| Cartons, mailers and void fill | Our packaging collection is 10 products. Corrugated board is bulky and cheap, so freighting it across the country is a bad trade whoever sells it. Buy it from a local box maker who will also die-cut to your jar. |
| Anything currently out of stock | Do not hold the whole order waiting for one line. Split it: take what is in stock now, source the gap locally this month, and put it back on next month's list. |
| A wick series your recipe depends on | Seven wick products is not a full programme. If your jar diameter is dialled in on a specific numbered series, changing it changes the melt pool. Keep the specialist and run a two-supplier chain at 81% instead of a five-supplier chain at 59%. |
With the exceptions settled, the combined order itself takes about fifteen minutes once a month. The point of doing it on WhatsApp rather than through the cart is that a single conversation gets you stock confirmation on every line before you pay, which is exactly the failure mode the cart cannot protect you from.
A last honest point about concentration. Buying everything from one supplier is a genuine trade: you swap five small risks for one larger one. The mitigation is not a second full supplier — that puts you back at 81% — it is a buffer on the critical line and a named alternative for the two or three items you could not improvise. Write those alternatives down before you need them. Broader context: where to source supplies for a business, scaling to 1,000 orders a month, and the complete raw material list if you are still assembling the list itself. Add a weighing scale at ₹354 and a pen thermometer at ₹354 once — a consolidated order is only worth having if the recipe it feeds is repeatable.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles, and this page argues for buying more of them from us, so it is fair to ask what we left out. Our wick collection is 7 products and our packaging collection is 10; both are named above as thin. We have told you to buy commodity paraffin from a local dealer if they beat ₹220/kg, to buy cartons locally, and not to bother restructuring your buying at all if you pour under about 30 candles a month.
Every price here is taken from live CSI stock on 10 September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. Category counts are the live collection counts on the same pull. The 10% figure quoted for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is the wax manufacturer's stated fragrance ceiling — a formulation limit, not a regulatory one. The reliability model is arithmetic on stated assumptions, not a measurement: we do not publish an on-time percentage and have not claimed one.
