A long-term wax supplier is judged on continuity: same wax every month, notice before anything changes, and an answer when a batch behaves differently.
What to agree
| Term | What it covers | How |
|---|---|---|
| Same wax every month | Continuity of the named product | Ask |
| Notice of changes | Before any formulation or source change | Ask in writing |
| Batch variation | What to do if a bag behaves differently | Agree up front |
| Stock depth | Can they cover your monthly kg? | Ask on WhatsApp |
| Price stability | How often prices change | Save each order's price |
| Paperwork | GST invoice | Standard |
Your side of a long-term supply arrangement
You need the same wax every month, and you are rightly asking what to check in a supplier. The part most producers skip is what to set up on their own side. When a batch seems to behave differently, the supplier can only help if you can show what changed, and you can only show that if you kept records before anything went wrong.
Keep a reference from every bag
When a new bag arrives, write the order date on it and set aside a small sealed sample, a hundred grams or so, labelled with that date. Pour one control candle from it in your standard jar, oil, wick and load. If a later bag seems off, pour a candle from the new bag and one from the retained sample side by side. Now you are comparing wax with wax, not the new wax with your memory of the old one.
Rule out your own changes first
Many "bad batches" turn out to be something else: a new lot of fragrance oil, a different jar supplier, a humid monsoon week or a hotter pour on a busy day. Log those alongside each production run. Then, when you raise a wax problem, you can say what stayed the same.
Hold a buffer that covers a surprise
If you make 1,000 candles of 200 g a month, you use about 193.2 kg of wax including wastage, around ₹98,188.20 of CSI 464 at listed prices. Keeping a few weeks of that in stock means a delayed order or a batch question does not stop production. CSI 464 and CSI 468 state a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage, so holding a buffer of either carries little risk of the wax going off.
Qualify a second source before you need one
Even with a supplier you trust, test one alternative wax in your jars once a year. If you ever need it, your wick sizes and burn notes will be ready.
Tell your supplier what you will need
Share your monthly kilograms and any seasonal peaks with CSI on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926). A supplier who knows your volume in advance is better placed to say early whether they can cover it.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
