Exact numbers, one list: wax, fragrance oil and wicks for 500 × 200 g, with a wastage allowance on each.
The exact list
| Item | Quantity | Buy | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) | 500 × 184 g + 5% = 96.6 kg | 9 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 2 × 1 kg | ₹49,217.80 |
| Sandalwood fragrance oil | 500 × 16.0 g + 5% = 8.40 kg | 9 × 1 kg | ₹45,241.20 |
| Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) | 500 + 2% spare | 510 wicks | ₹3,009.00 |
| Core materials | ₹97,468.00 |
Core materials: ₹97,468.00, or ₹194.94 per candle. If you split the run across several scents, round each scent's oil up to its own pack — that can add a bottle or two to the oil line.
Splitting your 500-candle list across scents without coming up short
Your list works cleanly for one scent. Almost nobody pours 500 candles in one scent. The moment you split the run across a range, the rounding changes, and the neat total of oil stops being the amount you need to order.
Round up per scent, not in total
Say you pour five scents, 100 candles each. Each scent needs 100 × 16 g = 1.6 kg of oil, or 1.68 kg with 5% wastage. A single 1 kg bottle is not enough for any of them. If you buy only 1 kg bottles, you need two per scent, so ten bottles instead of the nine a one-scent run needs. The alternative is one 1 kg bottle plus seven 100 g bottles for each scent, which gives 1.7 kg.
Which way is cheaper depends on the oil. Sandalwood costs the same per kilogram in either size, since ₹502.68 is a tenth of ₹5,026.80. Jasmine does not: ₹430.00 per 100 g is dearer per kilogram than ₹3,923.00 per kilogram. For scents like Jasmine, a spare kilogram you will use next month can cost less than topping up with small bottles.
Check each oil's stated load against your 8%
Your list assumes 8% for every candle. That sits inside the stated range of each candle oil on CSI's list, from Lavender at 6–10% to Cinnamon Vanilla at up to 13%, and inside CSI 464's stated load of up to 10%. If you plan a stronger load for one scent, recalculate that scent on its own and keep it within both the oil's and the wax's stated limits.
What the list leaves out
Wax, oil and wicks are the core. The finished candle also needs a jar and lid, any dye, labels and packaging, and each of those needs its own count with spares. CSI lists 81 containers, 25 dyes and 10 packaging products, so you can price these in the same order if the styles suit your range. Wicks stay simple: Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are ₹5.90 each at every pack size, so there is nothing to gain by rounding your wick order up to a bigger pack.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
