A thousand candles a week is 200 a day on a five-day week. That is a workshop problem, not a factory problem.
40 kg
scented wax a day for 1,000 × 200 g candles over five days
Quick answers — read this first
What does 1,000 a week mean in wax? At 200 g each, 200 kg of scented wax a week: 184 kg of wax and 16 kg of oil at 8% load. Over five days, 40 kg a day.

Is one 10 kg melter enough? On the stated melt rate, yes on paper. Four 10 kg melts cover 40 kg. Time your own melts at your working temperature to confirm.

What usually runs out first? Curing and staging space. A week of output at 1,000 candles needs shelves for a thousand jars before anything else strains.

What can wait? Dispensers, automated filling, and a second large melter. Measure after the first upgrades before spending on these.
The short answer
Scale of change: From 20 kg to 200 kg of scented wax a week, or about 40 kg a day.
Upgrade first: One 10 kg melter, a bench scale, extra pitchers, a thermometer, curing shelving.
Wait on: Dispensers, automation, a second large melter, until timings prove a need.

A tenfold rise in candles is a tenfold rise in wax; the melter, shelving and weighing must all move with it.
Straight answer
I'm Scaling From 100 to 1,000 Candles a Week — Which Equipment Upgrades Actually Increase Throughput and Which Are Unnecessary at This Stage?
At 1,000 candles a week of 200 g each you need 200 kg of scented wax a week, which is 184 kg of wax plus 16 kg of oil at 8% load, or about 40 kg a day over five days. The upgrades that actually raise throughput at this stage are one 10 kg melter in place of pots, a bench scale for kilogram weighings, two or three pitchers so pouring never waits, an independent thermometer, and enough curing shelving for a week of candles. The ones that can wait are dispensers, automated filling and a second large melter. Add those only when your timings show the first round is fully used.
One line: 1,000 candles a week is 40 kg of scented wax a day, which one melter, better weighing and more shelving usually handle.
The 10 kg Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 covers 40 kg a day in four melts on its stated rate, which is the core upgrade at this volume.

Turn 1,000 a week into daily numbers first

Ten times the candles does not mean ten times the equipment. It means finding the three things that break first.

Before listing upgrades, convert the target into the numbers equipment responds to. Take a 200 g candle at 8% fragrance load, with load calculated on total weight.

Capacity calculation
100 versus 1,000 candles a week at 200 g, five production days
Measure 100 a week 1,000 a week
Scented wax per week 20 kg 200 kg
Wax per week (92%) 18.4 kg 184 kg
Fragrance oil per week (8%) 1.6 kg 16 kg
Scented wax per day 4 kg 40 kg
Candles per day 20 200
Wicks per week 100 1,000
Jars to cure and store per week 100 1,000

Add 5% for planning wastage when you buy materials: 10 kg of scented wax fills exactly 50 candles of 200 g, but 48 is the safer planning figure after spills and rejects. So plan 1,000 candles as needing slightly more than 200 kg of scented wax.

Now look at the right-hand column and ask which of these your current setup cannot handle. For most makers moving from 100 a week, it is three things: melting 40 kg a day in pots, weighing kilograms of oil on a kitchen scale, and finding somewhere to put a thousand curing candles.

Upgrades that raise throughput at this stage

One 10 kg melter instead of pots

The CSI Electric Wax Melter product page states it melts 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C. On that figure, four melts cover a 40 kg day. That is the fastest case with unscented wax at the maximum setting, so time your own melts at the temperature you actually run. The same page gives the capacity as 9.5 litres; at roughly 0.9 g per ml for melted soy, that is about 8.5 kg of liquid wax, so test your working load rather than assuming a full 10 kg every time. The 10 kg model is ₹21,240.00.

The stated display range is 60°C to 100°C with a ±10°C deviation, so pair it with a separate thermometer. Keep fragrance out of the melter at maximum: some CSI oils have published flashpoints below 100°C (Roasted Coconut 93°C, Gardenia 98°C). Check the melter's power draw against your circuit before plugging it in beside other heating equipment.

Weighing that matches the batch

At 40 kg a day you will weigh oil in hundreds of grams to kilograms. A 10 kg scented batch at 8% is 9.2 kg of wax and 0.8 kg of oil. A kitchen scale may not hold the vessel plus that load. A bench scale for kilograms, bought elsewhere since CSI does not sell high-capacity scales, plus your small gram scale for tests, is a real throughput and consistency upgrade.

Pitchers, thermometer and a pour bench beside the melter

At 200 candles a day, pouring rhythm matters. Two or three pitchers in rotation keep someone pouring while another refills. A pen thermometer lets you check wax in the pitcher, not just in the melter. Moving the pour bench next to the melter shortens every trip, and costs nothing.

A wicking station that runs ahead of pouring

At 100 a week, wicking jars on pour day is fine. At 200 a day, it quietly caps output, because every minute spent sticking wicks is a minute the melter's wax waits. Set up a separate wicking bench and wick tomorrow's jars today. It needs a table, trays and a routine rather than equipment, and it is often the change that makes the melter upgrade pay off.

Curing and staging shelving

This is the one most makers underestimate. A thousand candles a week need somewhere to set, cure and wait for packing. If your chosen cure period is a week or two, you may hold one to two thousand candles at once. CSI does not sell curing racks; any sturdy, level shelving in a cool room works. Measure your jar footprint and count shelf positions before the first big week, not during it.

Upgrades that are usually unnecessary at this stage

Verdict
Common upgrade ideas at 1,000 candles a week
Upgrade Raises throughput now? Verdict
10 kg melter replacing pots Yes, directly Buy
Bench scale for kilogram weighings Yes, and improves consistency Buy
Extra pitchers Yes, removes waiting Buy
Independent thermometer Protects quality at volume Buy
Curing shelving Yes, prevents a storage jam Buy
Second 10 kg melter Only if one melter is timed as the limit Measure first
20 kg melter Helpful for long single-scent runs Measure first
Wax dispenser Rarely, at 200 a day Wait
Automated filling line No Not at this stage

A second 10 kg melter or the 20 kg model at ₹25,960.00 earns its place only when your records show people waiting for melted wax. On multi-scent days, two melters can help, but so can keeping one melter unscented and scenting in pitchers. Try the process change before the purchase.

Common mistake. Buying a dispenser or a second melter in the first month because the jump feels big. Most of the early pain at 1,000 a week is layout, wicking and shelving. Spend there first, then measure.

Resist the urge to buy for a scale you have not reached. Equipment bought for 5,000 a week sits idle at 1,000, takes floor space you need for shelving, and ties up money that could buy wax in larger packs. Size each purchase to the current target with some headroom, and keep the receipts and timings so the next decision is easier.

Buying materials for a 200 kg week

Raw-material purchasing changes as much as equipment. At 184 kg of wax a week, 10 kg packs become the default. CSI 464 is ₹5,074.00 for 10 kg and costs the same per kg at every pack size, so pack choice is about handling, not price. CSI 468 at ₹6,370.00 for 10 kg, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax, are cheaper per kg from 5 kg upwards; Pearl also has a 50 kg pack at ₹21,240.00. No 25 kg or 100 kg wax pack is listed, and larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926).

Wicks move to thousand packs: 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are ₹5,900.00. Fragrance runs at 16 kg a week across your range, so ask for IFRA and MSDS documents on WhatsApp for any oil entering regular production.

Keep lots together
At this volume you may open several wax cartons in a week. Record which cartons went into which batch so any difference can be traced.

Re-measure after four weeks

Run at 1,000 a week for a month with the first round of upgrades, then time a typical day step by step. If the melter is always ready before you are, you do not need a second one. If people wait at the melter every hour, you do. If jars are the thing people wait for, look at wicking and staging, not melting.

Four-week review
What the timings tell you to do next
What you observe What it means Next step
Melted wax waits for pourers Melting is ahead No melter purchase; look at pouring or wicking
Pourers wait for melted wax Melting is the limit Consider second 10 kg or the 20 kg model
Pourers wait for wicked jars Wicking is the limit Add wicking hours or helpers
Shelves full before packing Curing space is the limit More shelving or faster packing

Labour is part of this too. Going tenfold rarely means one person working ten times harder. Look at who does what on a typical day. A second person who runs wicking and packing while you melt and pour may add more output than any single piece of equipment.

The honest answer against our own interest: many makers reach 1,000 candles a week with one 10 kg melter, a few pitchers and better shelving. The bigger machines come later, when the numbers ask for them.

Argue against interest
Do not buy a second melter or a dispenser in month one.
At 1,000 a week, layout, weighing and shelving usually break before melting does. Upgrade those, run a month, then let your timings decide.
A thousand a week is a shelving problem before it is a machine problem.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and production equipment, not finished candles. This guide separates what is general production practice from what CSI's own product pages state, and labels every suggested tolerance or timing as a starting point for your own validation.

Prices are live CSI prices from September 2026; product pages are authoritative. Where a spec is not published — such as the scale's capacity or the thermometer's range — this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax do I need to make 1,000 candles a week?
At 200 g per candle, 200 kg of scented wax a week: 184 kg of wax and 16 kg of fragrance oil at 8% load. Allow around 5% extra for wastage when buying.
Is one 10 kg wax melter enough for 1,000 candles a week?
Often, yes. The CSI melter states it melts 10 kg of soy in about 30 minutes at 100°C, so four melts cover 40 kg a day. Time your own melts at your working temperature to confirm before planning around it.
What equipment should I buy first when scaling candle production tenfold?
Replace pots with one 10 kg melter, add a bench scale for kilogram weighings, extra pitchers, an independent thermometer and curing shelving. These raise throughput directly. Automation and dispensers can wait.
Do I need a wax dispenser for 200 candles a day?
Rarely. At 200 candles a day most makers keep pace with pitchers in rotation and a pour bench beside the melter. Time your pitcher trips for a full day before considering a dispenser at all.
How much curing space do I need for 1,000 candles a week?
Enough for a week's output multiplied by your chosen cure period in weeks. With a one-to-two-week cure, that could be one to two thousand jars. Measure jar footprint and count shelf positions in advance.
Does CSI sell large bags of wax for 1,000 candles a week?
CSI lists most waxes up to 10 kg packs, which suit a 184 kg week well, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax up to 50 kg at ₹21,240.00. No 25 kg or 100 kg pack is listed; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
