CSI Bulk Orders · Production Days
Mixing a big order into everyday production feels flexible and costs you in washing, dumped wax and wrong-scent risk. Run it in blocks by fragrance, light to heavy, with the website poured ahead as stock.
390 → 60 min
changeover minutes on the same 30 melts, mixed in vs blocked (worked example) · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I reserve whole days for a big order or mix it into normal production? Reserve blocks, by fragrance. In the worked example (1,000 corporate candles in two scents plus a normal website week, one 10 kg melter), mixing everything in costs 390 minutes of changeovers across 18 scent changes; running the website first and then each corporate scent as a block costs 60 minutes. The same 30 melts take 10 days mixed and 9 days blocked.

Is it only about time? No. Blocks keep one oil lot per block, make every candle traceable to a melt, cut the 6 heavy-to-light washes to none, and keep two corporate labels off the same bench on the same day.

How do I keep the website shipping? Pour website stock before the block: 8 small melts covered about 12.0 working days of website orders in the example. The website keeps shipping from shelves while the melter belongs to the corporate order.

When is mixing fine? When the corporate scent, wax and jar are already a website product: then the order is just a bigger batch of something you make every week.
The short answer
The rule: dedicate blocks by fragrance (and colour), light scents before heavy; put website production on its own days, poured ahead as stock.
The number: 330 changeover minutes saved on 30 melts (0.81 melter-days), one working day sooner, and about ₹4,126.58 less scented heel dumped (worked example).
The hidden gains: one oil lot per block, melt numbers that trace every candle, no vanilla residue in a pale melt, and one label on the bench at a time.
Never trade away: the full wash when you do go from heavy to light, burn-check candles from each block, and the 48–72 hour set the oil pages state before burn testing.
Same 30 melts, two ways to run the melter Worked example: one 10 kg melter, 100-minute cycle, 408 minutes a day. Mixed in 10 days · 18 changes · 390 min D1 W1 BO CV D2 W2 BO CV D3 W3 BO CV D4 W4 BO CV D5 W5 BO CV D6 W1 BO CV D7 W2 BO CV D8 W3 BO CV D9 BO CV BO D10 BO BO BO Blocked 9 days · 4 changes · 60 min D1 W1 W1 W5 D2 W2 W2 W3 D3 W3 W4 D4 BO BO BO BO D5 BO BO BO BO D6 BO BO BO BO D7 BO CV CV D8 CV CV CV CV D9 CV CV CV BO = corporate Blue Ocean (light) CV = Cinnamon Vanilla (heavy) W1–W5 = your website scents change: 15 min / 35 min Thin bar: wipe-down to an equal or heavier scent. Thick bar: full wash, heavy to light. Blocked runs the website first, as stock, so it can ship during the corporate days. All timings are worked examples: time your own clean-down.
The same 30 melts on one 10 kg melter (worked example: 100-minute cycle, 408 minutes a day). Left, mixed in: each day starts with a website scent and alternates the two corporate scents, so almost every day carries two changes, most of them including a full heavy-to-light wash. Right, blocked: website stock is poured first, light to heavy, then all Blue Ocean, then all Cinnamon Vanilla. 390 minutes of changeovers become 60.
Straight answer
Should I reserve specific production days exclusively for a large candle order instead of mixing it into normal production?
Yes, in almost every case where the order's scent differs from what you pour every day. Run the order in dedicated blocks, one fragrance (and one colour) per block, light scents before heavy ones, and give website production its own days, poured ahead as stock so it can keep shipping. In the worked example, mixing 22 corporate melts and 8 website melts through the same days costs 390 minutes of changeovers (18 scent changes, 6 of them full heavy-to-light washes) and takes 10 days; blocking costs 60 minutes and takes 9. The minutes are the smaller part of the case. Blocks also keep each oil lot inside one block, let every candle be traced to a melt, stop vanilla residue reaching a pale melt, and keep two corporate labels off the bench on the same day. Mix the order in only when it is a product you already make every week, in the same wax, jar and oil.
One line: one scent per block, light to heavy, website poured ahead as stock: 330 changeover minutes saved on 30 melts in the worked example, and a cleaner audit trail.
The cheapest changeover saving: four Steel Pouring Pitchers Large (₹2,832.00), two per corporate scent, and a pack of 50 bamboo stirring sticks (₹1,062.00) take the washing out of most changeovers. In stock on 7 October 2026; the Small pitcher is out of stock.

The order, the website and the melter, as numbers

The title gives no quantity, so every number here is a worked example. Swap in yours; the comparison survives.
Worked-example inputs · no figures in the title
Order, website volume, melt cycle, changeover minutes and heel are worked examples · melts at 10 kg of finished mix (50 × 200 g) for corporate, 5 kg (25 candles) for website
Input Figure Note
Corporate order 1,000 × 200 g at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax) 600 Blue Ocean, 400 Cinnamon Vanilla
Corporate pours 630 Blue Ocean + 420 Cinnamon Vanilla Each scent: saleable + extras (retains, burn checks) + 4% loss
Corporate melts 13 + 9 = 22 50 candles per full 10 kg melt, rounded up per scent
Website 100 candles a week in five scents 8 melts of 5 kg cover about 12.0 working days
Melt cycle 100 minutes Melt to the wax page temperature, add oil, stir, pour out
Day 408 usable minutes 480 at 85% availability; the melter-person's day
Changeover, equal or heavier 15 minutes Wipe-down, fresh stirrer, swap pitchers
Changeover, heavier to lighter 35 minutes Full wash, dry, smell check before the light scent goes in
Heel at each change 0.3 kg Scented wax left in melter and pitchers that cannot go into the next scent

Scents are ranked by weight: fresh and aquatic light (rank 1), florals middle (2), woods, gourmands and vanilla heavy (3). The ranking is a practical judgement about carry-over, not a chemical one; what matters is that a trace of a heavy scent is noticeable in a light one, and a trace of a light scent in a heavy one usually is not.

The schedule in each plan is filled day by day: add the next melt if its changeover plus its 100-minute cycle still fits inside 408 minutes, otherwise start a new day. That simple rule is enough to show the difference; your real day has more in it.

What a changeover really costs

A changeover is not "rinse the jug". It is minutes, a heel of scented wax, and a chance of the wrong scent in the next melt.

Time one honestly before you decide anything. Empty the melter, deal with the heel, wash or wipe the tank, swap pitchers, take a fresh stirrer, clear the bench of the last scent's labels, and smell the empty tank before the next oil goes in. Going from heavy to light takes longer because "clean enough" is decided by your nose, not your eyes.

One changeover, three costs · worked example
Minutes and heel are worked examples; contamination risk is a judgement, not a measured figure
Change Minutes Heel dumped Carry-over risk Example
Same scent, next melt none (top-up only) none none Blue Ocean → Blue Ocean
To an equal or heavier scent 15 0.3 kg Low: a trace of light in heavy rarely shows Blue Ocean → Cinnamon Vanilla
Heavier to lighter 35 0.3 kg Real: vanilla or spice in a fresh scent, possible tint Cinnamon Vanilla → Blue Ocean

The heel is easy to forget. At 0.3 kg per change and a Blue Ocean mix worth about ₹982.52 a kilo at CSI bulk prices (92% CSI 468 at ₹637.00 a kilo plus 8% oil at ₹4.96 a gram), each change throws away roughly ₹294.76 of scented wax. Some makers pour heels into seconds or test candles; on a corporate order they rarely become saleable.

Mistake: cutting the heavy-to-light wash short "because it is the same corporate order". Why it matters: Cinnamon Vanilla's page states "Vanillin content 2.5%". Vanillin is one common cause of candles yellowing over time, and a vanilla residue in a melt of an aquatic scent changes how that candle smells and, possibly, how it ages. The client signed off a Blue Ocean candle. Fix: sequence so you never go heavy to light inside the corporate order. If you must, do the full wash and smell the empty tank. Any change of wax, oil or dye inside an approved candle is a formulation change: why one variable at a time matters.

The same 30 melts, scheduled two ways

Mixed in, the melter changes scent 18 times in 30 melts. Blocked, 4 times.

The diagram above shows both schedules melt by melt. Here they are as a capacity table.

Mixed in vs blocked · 22 corporate + 8 website melts · one 10 kg melter
Simulation of the worked example: a melt is added to the day only if changeover + 100-minute cycle fits in 408 minutes · all inputs worked examples
Measure Mixed in Blocked Difference
Working days for all 30 melts 10 9 1
Scent changes 18 4 14
Changeover minutes 390 60 330 (0.81 days)
Heavy-to-light washes 6 none 6 fewer
Blue Ocean melts poured right after a heavier scent 6 none carry-over chances removed
Days with both corporate labels on the bench 9 1 only the block-boundary day remains
Scented heel dumped 5.4 kg 1.2 kg about ₹4,126.58 of mix
Corporate candles poured a day about 110 (averaged over 10 days) about 183 on corporate days corporate block days 4–9
Last corporate melt poured day 10 day 9 website stock already on the shelf in the blocked plan

Read the minutes first: 390 minutes is 96% of a working day spent washing in the mixed plan, against 60 blocked. That pushes most mixed days down to three melts, while blocked corporate days fit four. These are melter-side numbers: whether your hands can wick, pour and pack about 183 candles on a block day is the station check in the maximum-capacity post, and if they can't, the block simply runs more days at the same low changeover count. One day saved on 30 melts sounds small; on a 5,000-candle order it is the difference between one melter and two.

Then read the quality rows, because they are why most experienced makers block even when time is not tight. In the mixed plan 6 Blue Ocean melts go into a tank that has just held a heavier scent, and on 9 days both corporate labels are on the bench together. Each of those is a chance for a wrong candle in a client's carton. Blocked, the first is zero by design and the second happens once, on the day one block ends and the next begins: clear the bench of Blue Ocean labels before the first Cinnamon Vanilla melt is poured.

Why the blocked plan pours the website first
Website orders ship from finished stock, so they can be poured early; corporate candles ship on one date, so they can be poured late, as long as the set and the QC fit. Pouring the website first in one light-to-heavy sequence (two fresh scents, a floral, then two heavy ones) costs only 45 minutes of changeovers, and leaves the melter free for the corporate block. How much of your week is genuinely free for the order is the true-available-capacity post.

Lots, traceability and focus

The minutes are the part you can measure. The rest is the part a client complains about.

Lot consistency. 10.5 kg of Blue Ocean is eleven bottles, and CSI does not promise they share one lot. In a block you open them in sequence and, if a second lot appears, it starts at a melt you can name. Mixed in, lots end up spread across days next to website melts of the same oil, and if the second lot smells different you cannot say which corporate candles have it. If a new lot does arrive, compare it with the first before it goes in the melter: cold sniff, colour in wax, a short burn. The new-lot-mid-run post covers what to check.

Traceability. Number the melts BO-01 to BO-13 and CV-01 to CV-9, write the oil lot, wax lot, add and pour temperatures and pour time against each, and mark each candle's base or carton with its melt number. Blocks make this a list; mixed days make it a puzzle. When a client reports one weak candle in a carton of 50, the melt number tells you whether it was one melt or a whole lot.

Focus. One scent, one label, one carton spec on the bench. People get faster at a repeated task within a day, and mistakes cluster at switches. That is judgement, not data, but every maker who has found a Cinnamon Vanilla label on a Blue Ocean candle believes it.

Mistake: blocking corporate production but leaving the website "squeezed in" on the same days because orders came in. Why it fails: it rebuilds the mixed plan by stealth, one website melt at a time, and every squeeze is a heavy-to-light change in the middle of a block. Fix: website production happens on website days only. During a corporate block, website orders ship from the stock you poured beforehand; if stock runs out, the website shows a longer dispatch time for a few days. Better that than a contaminated corporate melt.

How to lay out the blocks

Sequence by weight, size by the melter, and put the website where it costs least.
1
Freeze the scent split before the first block.Blocks make a late change expensive: once the Blue Ocean block is poured, "make it 500 and 500" means a new block. Put the split cut-off in the written order (practical judgement, not legal advice).
2
Pour website stock first.Count how many working days the corporate block will take and pour that much website stock beforehand, light to heavy. In the example, 8 small melts covered about 12.0 working days.
3
Run corporate scents light to heavy.Blue Ocean first (13 melts), Cinnamon Vanilla second (9). The only corporate change is light to heavy: a 15-minute wipe-down, never a full wash.
4
Stage a kit per block.Oil bottles, wax bags, wicks, labels and cartons for one block on one trolley, with the melt sheet. Nothing from the other block is in reach.
5
Pull burn checks from each block.Take burn-check candles from early, middle and late melts of each block and burn them after the 48–72 hour set the oil pages state; Blue Ocean's page says to cure "48-72 hours before burn testing". That is calendar time, so it runs while the next block pours (standardising cure before QC burns).
6
Open new lots only at block boundaries. If a second wax or oil lot is needed, start it at the beginning of a block or a named melt, after a side-by-side check, and write it on the melt sheet.

The decision rule. Dedicate blocks when the corporate order uses a scent, colour or jar you do not pour every day, or when mixing would add more than about one changeover per day (judgement). Mix it in only when the corporate candle is an existing website candle: same wax, oil, load, wick and jar, where "mixing in" just means bigger batches of a scent you were going to pour anyway. In the worked example the settling number is 330 minutes saved, about 0.81 melter-days, on 30 melts, with heavy-to-light washes falling from 6 to none.

Two scents or ten?
The more scents the order has, the stronger the case for blocks: changes grow with every scent you alternate. A ten-scent corporate gift box is a sequence problem first: order the scents light to heavy, run each as a block, and accept one heavy-to-light wash between the end of one box run and the start of the next. Colour works the same way: pale to dark.
What blocks do not fix: a candle that was never proven. Blocks schedule an approved formula; they do not approve one. If either corporate scent has not been burned to the end in this jar with this wick at 8%, development comes first (the new-fragrance development post), and the steps that are never skipped are the never-skip post.

The block kit: materials staged per block

Buy for the order, stage for the block.

The purchase is ordinary; what changes is that each block gets its own staged kit, so the melt sheet, lot numbers and materials line up. The sheet assumes your proven formula is Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, 8% load and an Eco C2 wick in your own 200 g jar.

₹218.98 per saleable candle is CSI materials only, buffers included, and excludes your jars, labels, cartons, labour, freight, GST and marketing. Oil per candle is ₹79.36 for Blue Ocean and ₹72.80 for Cinnamon Vanilla at the 1 kg price. Twelve 10 kg wax bags opened for block 1 leave 2.921 kg that carries into block 2; that is fine if both are the same wax lot, and worth writing on the melt sheet if not.

Argued against our own interest, twice. Blue Ocean's 100 g bottle is ₹4.95 a gram against ₹4.96 for the 1 kg, so 10 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g (₹50,550.00, 19.2 g spare) is the cheapest way to cover 10.1808 kg; we suggest the 500 g instead (₹52,038.00) because 19.2 g of spare oil is too thin for a 630-candle block. And CSI 468 costs ₹637.00 a kilo whether you buy 5 kg or 10 kg bags, so nothing is saved by buying bigger; split deliveries by block if that helps your cash. Whether to buy everything up front or in tranches is the split-purchasing post; keeping the corporate stock away from website production is the reserved-materials post.

Mistake: buying the order's oil as "whatever 1 kg bottles are in stock" across two deliveries a week apart. Why it fails: two deliveries can mean two lots inside one block. Fix: ask on WhatsApp whether each block's oil can come from one lot before you schedule the blocks, and if not, place the lot boundary at a block boundary. CSI does not promise lot continuity; asking first is how you plan around it.
This page is for you if you run one or two melters, sell a regular range online or to shops, and have a corporate or wedding order in scents you don't pour every day. It is not for you if the order is simply more of an existing website candle: then mix it in as bigger batches. Read first the capacity post (6316) if you have not worked out how many days the order needs, and the spare-capacity post (6318) before you promise a date.

What to buy for block production

Six items, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 7 October 2026. CSI publishes no burn or throw data, so nothing here is ranked on performance. Two of the six are tools whose whole job is to make changeovers shorter.

WAX MELTER FOR CANDLE MAKING | Electric Wax Melter (Imported)
Blocks are about using one melter well. At 200 g, a full 10 kg melt of finished mix is 50 candles before losses (the page says "80 candles at a time", which implies about 125 g each). The page claims it "can melt 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C" and shows "±10°C deviation"; CSI 468's page states a pour temperature of 58°C–60°C, so set to the wax, not to 100°C, and check with a thermometer. Argued against our own interest: if you will keep mixing scents through the day, the 20 kgs unit makes things worse, not better: a bigger tank means a bigger scented heel to dump at every change.
Size Price 200 g candles per full melt For this order
10 kgs capacity ₹21,240.00 50 13 Blue Ocean + 9 Cinnamon Vanilla melts
20 kgs capacity ₹25,960.00 100 7 + 5 melts, but a bigger heel at each change

Steel Pouring Pitcher Large (600 ML)
Changeover time is mostly washing. Two pitchers dedicated to each corporate scent means a block never waits for a pitcher to be washed and dried, and Cinnamon Vanilla never touches the Blue Ocean pitchers. The page lists "Measurements: 12W x 13H Centimeters Capacity: 600 ml". The Small (150 ML) is out of stock on 7 October 2026. Limitation: 600 ml is a hand pitcher; at 50 candles a melt you will refill it many times, so the melter tap still does most of the work.
Size Price For this plan

fragrance oil · fresh aquatic · block 1 (light)
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
The light corporate scent, so it runs first. The page describes "sea salt and ozone top notes, jasmine and lily of the valley heart, and driftwood and musk base", states "candles (up to 10%)" and says "0% vanillin - no discolouration" (the page's claim: test anyway). It also says to "Cure soy wax candles for 48-72 hours before burn testing". Argued against our own interest: this oil is fractionally cheaper per gram in the 50 g and 100 g bottles than in the 1 kg, so the 1 kg is for convenience and lot continuity, not price. Its FAQ gives an add temperature for soy that differs from wax pages; the wax page governs.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹247.00 ₹4.94 4
100 g ₹495.00 ₹4.95 8

fragrance oil · spiced gourmand · block 2 (heavy)
Cinnamon Vanilla
The heavy corporate scent, so it runs second and never before Blue Ocean. The page lists "cinnamon and clove top notes, vanilla bean and sugar middle notes, and cream and butter base", states "Vanillin content 2.5%" and "Up to 13% load for candles"; CSI 468 also states up to 13%, and 8% sits well inside both. Vanillin is one common cause of yellowing, which is exactly why its residue should not reach a pale Blue Ocean melt. Here the 1 kg is cheaper than two 500 g bottles by ₹47.20.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (Flakes Form) For Container Candles
The worked-example wax, assumed already proven with both oils in your jar. The page states "Melting Point 50°C – 53°C", "Pour Temperature 58°C – 60°C" and "Fragrance Load Up to 13%", and claims "minimal frosting". It is ₹637.00 a kilo in 5 kg and 10 kg bags, so 196 kg costs the same in either. Limitation: CSI does not promise 196 kg comes from one lot; open a new lot at a block boundary, not mid-block.
Size Price Per kg 200 g candles at 8% (184 g wax)
500 g ₹325.00 ₹650.00 2

Bamboo Stirring Sticks for Mixing Wax
A fresh stick per melt removes one washing step from every changeover and one source of carry-over. The page calls them "Perfect length for blending fragrances & dyes in melted wax". Argued against our own interest: the 100-pack is cheaper per stick, but 30 melts need 50 at most, and a pack of 50 leaves 20 for the next run.
Pack Price Per stick For this plan
Pack of 5 ₹118.00 ₹23.60 a trial
Pack of 50 ₹1,062.00 ₹21.24 one fresh stick per melt for 30 melts
Pack of 100 ₹1,888.00 ₹18.88 cheaper each, but 70 left over
Pack of 50 = ₹1,062.00. Buy 50 — ₹1,062.00

Skip: a second melter "so I can keep one for corporate and one for website" before you have tried blocks: the maths above says one melter run in blocks is usually enough at this size, and a second tank doubles the cleaning. Skip the 20 kgs unit for the same reason unless your blocks are long. Argued against our own interest: buy the corporate oil only after the client has signed the scent split. A block plan for an unsigned split is a plan for 17.5 kg of oil you may not need.

Diwali is 8 November 2026. Corporate gifting blocks and your own festive website range compete for the same melter in October. CSI cannot promise dispatch dates, lot continuity or stock depth for bulk quantities in advance, so send your block list on WhatsApp before you fix block dates; we will confirm what we can supply, from which lot, and when it ships, with a GST invoice.

The CSI principle
One scent per block, light before heavy, and the website poured ahead as stock.
In the worked example: 390 changeover minutes become 60, heavy-to-light washes fall from 6 to none, and every candle traces to a numbered melt.
"Clean once between blocks, not ten times between melts."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the melter, pitchers, oils, wax, wicks and stirring sticks named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you not to buy the bigger melter or a second one before trying blocks, that Blue Ocean's 1 kg is not its cheapest per gram, that CSI 468's 10 kg bag saves nothing over two 5 kg bags, and not to buy the oil before the client signs the split.

Every CSI price was checked on the live store on 7 October 2026, size by size. Every item priced here is in stock on that date except the Small Steel Pouring Pitcher and the Eco C1 10-pack, which are out of stock and not used. Stock depth, dispatch dates and lot continuity for bulk quantities are not shown on product pages; confirm them on WhatsApp.

The order size and scent split, website volume, melt cycle, changeover minutes, heel, scent ranking and buffers are labelled worked examples, and the schedules are a simple simulation of them; replace them with your own timings. This is practical judgement, not legal advice. For bulk pricing, lot confirmation, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Should I make a bulk candle order on separate days from my regular stock?
Usually yes: run it in dedicated blocks by fragrance, light to heavy, and pour your regular stock beforehand. In the worked example that cut changeovers from 390 to 60 minutes and saved a working day on 30 melts.
How long does it take to clean a wax melter between fragrances?
Time your own. The worked example uses 15 minutes to an equal or heavier scent and 35 minutes from heavy to light, because a full wash and a smell check are needed before a light scent goes in.
In what order should I pour candle fragrances to avoid cross-contamination?
Light to heavy: fresh and aquatic first, florals next, woods, gourmands and vanillas last. A trace of a light scent rarely shows in a heavy one; the reverse often does. Colours: pale to dark.
Can I keep selling on my website while producing a corporate order?
Yes, if you pour website stock before the corporate block and ship from it. In the example, 8 small melts covered about 12.0 working days of website orders.
Does block production help with fragrance lot consistency?
Yes. Each block uses its own oil bottles in sequence, so a second lot starts at a named melt. Compare a new lot with the first before mixing it in, and record lots against melt numbers.
When is it fine to mix a large order into normal production?
When the order is an existing product: the same wax, oil, load, wick and jar you already pour every week. Then mixing in simply means bigger batches of a scent you were pouring anyway.
Blocks or mixed in
Sequence by scent weight, block by fragrance, and pour the website first.
390 changeover minutes become 60 in the worked example; the block kit is ₹2,22,875.80 in CSI materials and tools. Send us the block list before you set dates, and we will confirm stock, lots and dispatch, or tell you plainly what we can't promise.

About this guide: part of CSI's cluster "Can I actually accept this order?" (6301–6320) in the series on bulk corporate and wedding candle orders × raw materials. It compares dedicated production blocks with mixing a large order into normal production: changeover minutes and heel, a two-schedule simulation, lot consistency, traceability and focus, block layout, and a block kit priced at CSI packs.

Non-price figures: the title gives no figures. The 1,000 × 200 g order split 600/400, 8% load (on total weight: 16 g oil + 184 g wax), extras and 4% loss, 1% heel in the mix, 100 website candles a week, 5 kg website melts, the 100-minute cycle, 408-minute day, 15- and 35-minute changeovers, the 0.3 kg heel per change and the light/medium/heavy scent ranking are labelled worked examples; the schedules are a greedy day-filling simulation of those inputs. Wax and oil maxima are as the pages state (CSI 468 up to 13%; Blue Ocean candles up to 10%; Cinnamon Vanilla up to 13%): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. Costs are materials only and exclude jars, labels, cartons, labour, freight, GST and marketing. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact.
