A Corporate Client Wants Delivery in Two Weeks — Which Candle-Development Steps Should Never Be Skipped Even for an Urgent Order?
Share
Can I do a two-week order at all? Only with a candle you have already proven. For a proven candle the burn-test step is a production check (4-hour burns on 3 candles and one full-life burn) that runs alongside production. For a new jar, wick, oil or colour, two weeks cannot hold a proper burn test: decline the change, not the order.
What can be compressed? Cure before shipping (to the 72-hour set, with weaker first-burn throw), and almost everything can run in parallel: lot checks, label printing, drop checks and burn tests. The full-life burn (40 hours in the worked example) and the 72-hour set cannot.
What does the plan look like? Worked example, 400 × 200 g: materials day 3, pours days 4–8, full-life gate day 12, hand-over Saturday day 13. CSI materials ₹79,838.80.
The two-week order, as numbers
Reader's figure (title): delivery in two weeks, 14 calendar days. Labelled worked example: 400 candles of 200 g at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax), your proven candle (Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, Sandalwood at 8%, an Eco C2 wick, your own 200 g jar), with the client's logo label and their gift box. Day 1 is a Monday, so day 14 is a Sunday and hand-over is Saturday, day 13. You pour 106 a day.
| Item | Figure | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar days | 14 | Reader's figure (title) |
| Hand-over | day 13 (Saturday) | Day 14 is a Sunday |
| Saleable candles | 400 | Worked example |
| + Planned extras | 8 | 3 verification burns, 1 full-life burn, 2 retains, 2 lot-check candles |
| + Loss buffer (4%) | 16 | Use your own history |
| = Candles to pour | 424 | Extras and losses counted once each |
| Pouring days | 4 at 106 a day (days 4, 5, 6, 8) | Materials in on day 3 |
| Full-life gate | day 12 | 40-hour burn life at 8 attended hours a day = 5 burning days from day 8 |
| Slack | 1 day | Day 13 is hand-over, nothing else |
Capacity is not the question here; the 1,000-in-21-days hub and the daily-rate post cover that. The question is which of the steps that make a candle safe and repeatable fit inside two weeks, and the answer depends almost entirely on one thing: whether the candle is already proven.
The eight non-negotiables, and why
Each step is listed with what it is, why it cannot go, and the calendar time it needs. Most need hours, not days; the one that needs days runs alongside production.
| Step | What it is | Why it stays | Calendar time | Skippable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. A weighed formula sheet | Wax, oil and %, wick, jar, fill, add and pour temperatures, lot numbers, written and weighed every batch | Every later check compares against it; a rushed team drifts | An hour on day 1 | No |
| 2. Fragrance inside both maxima | The proven load (8% here); never "a bit more for the VIP client" | Past the wax or oil page maximum risks sweating, soot and a different wick need | no extra time | No |
| 3. Burn test of the exact jar, wick, oil and dye | Proven combination: 4-hour burns on 3 production candles + 1 full-life burn before shipping. New combination: full development | Only a burn shows the candle the recipient lights; a new variable is a new candle | Proven: 5 burning days, in parallel. New: weeks | No |
| 4. Lot comparison when any lot changes | Cold sniff, colour in wax, and a short side-by-side burn against a retained candle | Same name is not the same lot; CSI does not promise lot continuity | 2–3 days, in parallel | No |
| 5. Colour approved in wax, not liquid | Set candle in the real jar, in daylight, with the oil in it | Liquid dye, screens and unscented pucks all lie about shade | 1–2 days | No (if there is colour) |
| 6. Label safety text | Care and safety wording on every candle; net quantity as required | The recipient never met you; the label is your only instruction | Client proof, 1–2 days | No |
| 7. Packing drop check | Two fully packed candles dropped from a set height (judgement: about 1 m) onto a hard floor, then inspected | Corporate gifts travel, often more than once | An hour, plus any fix | No |
| 8. Retains | 2 candles and a sealed oil sample per lot, kept after delivery | Your only evidence if something is questioned later | no extra time | No |
The burn test: what "proven" lets you shorten
For a proven candle, you are not testing whether the formula works; you are checking that this run behaves like the approved one. Pull 3 candles from day-4 melts and give each a 4-hour burn on day 8 (cure day 4), comparing melt pool, flame and soot with a retained candle from the approved batch. Burn a fourth to about 1 cm of wax left in attended sessions, days 8 to 12. That full-life candle is the ship gate. If any check differs from the approved candle, stop, find out why, and tell the client the same day. Building this into a repeatable routine is standardising cure before QC burns.
The lot check: same name is not the same lot
For 7 kg of oil and 79 kg of wax, ask on WhatsApp whether you will receive the same lot as your approved batch; CSI does not promise lot continuity. Either way, on day 3 pour two candles from the incoming lot and compare them on day 6 (72 hours, the top of the Sandalwood page's 48–72 hour cure) with a retained candle: cold sniff, colour in the jar, a short burn side by side. What to compare, and what to do when a supplier sends a new batch, is the new-batch comparison post; when a lot changes mid-order, the same-name reformulation post.
Maxima: no "extra strong" for the VIP client
The Sandalwood page states up to 10% for soy and CSI 464 states up to 10%, so the proven 8% is inside both. Raising it to 10% "because it is for the CEO" would cost ₹8,042.88 more in oil across 400 candles (₹80.43 to ₹100.54 a candle) and, more importantly, would make it an untested candle: more oil can change the flame, the soot and the wick the candle needs. A load change is a formula change.
Label safety text and the drop check
Corporate gifts usually carry the client's label, and that label usually has no room for care instructions. Add them: a Candle Care Stickers Roll on the base works, once you have checked that the printed wording says what you need (in the text we captured, the page does not reproduce it). Net quantity on a packaged candle falls under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules: check current requirements (not legal advice). For the drop check, pack two finished candles exactly as they will ship on day 5 and drop each from about 1 m (judgement) onto a hard floor; look for cracked jars, loose lids, dented tops and labels that scuffed. If either fails, change the packing before day 8, not after. CSI's Air Bubble Roll (₹900.00) is one option; in the text we captured the page lists title facts only.
What can be compressed, what can run in parallel
The two-week plan works because most never-skip steps are short and can run beside production. Two things genuinely compress: cure before shipping, and the time steps spend waiting for each other. Two things do not: the full-life burn and the 72-hour set.
| Step | Can it compress or run in parallel? | The cost |
|---|---|---|
| Cure before shipping | Yes, to the 72-hour set before lidding: the last pour ships after 3 days | Throw at the first burn may be weaker than a fully cured candle; cure continues after dispatch |
| Lot check | Parallel with the first production days | The 212 candles poured before the verdict are at risk (₹38,844.84 of CSI materials) |
| Label printing | Parallel with production, after the proof is approved | A late proof delays packing, not pouring |
| Drop check | Parallel: pack two test candles on day 5 | Fixing the packaging later costs boxes |
| Verification and full-life burns | Parallel with production and packing | If the full-life burn fails, nothing has shipped, but the stock must be held |
| The full-life burn itself | No | It takes the candle's burn life in attended hours (40 h worked example) |
| The 72-hour set before lidding | No | Lidding and boxing soft candles damages tops and traps moisture |
On cure: the Sandalwood page states 48–72 hours before burn testing. Many makers prefer a week or two before a candle is judged for throw, and soy commonly continues to settle after it leaves you (the curing-in-transit post). In this plan the first candles are 9 days old at hand-over and the last only 3 days before packing begins. That is acceptable for a proven candle the client already likes; it is not acceptable as a way of approving a new one. If the client is comparing your candle with a fully cured sample, tell them the gifts will reach full throw after some days.
The 14-day plan with its gates
The plan has one day of slack. A late delivery of materials on day 3 or a failed drop check on day 6 uses it. A failed lot check or verification burn means stopping production and talking to the client, which is why those gates sit early, when only part of the run is poured. Why two to three spare days are worth building into any bulk promise is the spare-capacity post.
The purchase sheet for two weeks
Required, plus planned extras (the 8 test, verification and retain candles), plus a 4% loss buffer and a 1% heel allowance, rounded up to in-stock CSI packs, with leftovers. Jars and the client's box and label are yours. Prices are CSI live pricing on 7 October 2026; stock depth and dispatch are confirmed on WhatsApp, not promised here.

| Sandalwood Fragrance Oil | 6.40 kg | 0.13 kg | 0.26 kg loss + 0.07 kg heel | 6,851.84 g | 7 × 1 kg (or 14 × 500 g, same price) | ₹35,187.60 | 148.16 g, reusable |
| Eco C2 | 400 | 8 | 16 rejects + 9 defects | 433 | 4 × 100 + 20 + 2 × 10 = 440 | ₹4,153.60 | 7 wicks |

| CSI materials | ₹79,838.80 | ₹199.60 per saleable candle | |||||
| Never-skip tools (one-off) | Pen Thermometer + Weighing Scale | ₹708.00 | reusable |
The test, verification and retain candles cost ₹1,465.84 in wax, oil and wicks, 1.8% of the materials: the cheapest insurance in the order. Costs exclude jars, labels, boxes, labour, freight and GST. Wax and oil are flat at CSI for this order: CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg to 10 kg, and Sandalwood's 1 kg is exactly two 500 g bottles. The 15 g, 50 g and 100 g Sandalwood are out of stock on 7 October 2026, which matters only if you wanted a small bottle for the lot check; use a little of the production oil instead.
The never-skip kit
Four items: the two tools and the label that the never-skip list leans on, and the worked example's proven oil. Chosen on page statements, price and stock on 7 October 2026; CSI publishes no burn or throw data, so nothing is ranked on performance.

Not on the list: anything that would change the candle. A two-week order is the wrong moment to try a new wax, wick or oil, however good it looks.
CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wax, oil, wicks, stickers and tools named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you not to upgrade to any new product of ours for a rushed order, that our scale states no capacity, that our sticker page does not show its printed wording, and that our Sandalwood gets no cheaper in bulk.
Every CSI price was checked on the live store on 7 October 2026. Stock was checked per size: every item priced here is in stock on that date except the Sandalwood 15 g, 50 g and 100 g and the Eco C1 10-pack, which are marked or not used. Stock depth, lot continuity and dispatch for bulk quantities are not something a product page shows. Page wording is quoted as written.
The quantity, pouring rate, burn life, test counts, drop height, buffers and dates are labelled worked examples; the never-skip list is practical judgement based on common candle practice, and nothing here is legal advice.
