Proving a new container wax source before you depend on it

The five checks above describe what a professional source should offer. This section is about how to run those checks in practice, in the order that costs you least, before a new wax becomes the base of your range.

Start with the page, then the questions it leaves

Read the product page as a spec sheet and note what it states and what it leaves out. CSI's container waxes differ here. CSI 468 publishes melt and pour temperatures and a fragrance load. Pearl publishes no load. CSI 464 lists a single 80–90°C range for both melt point and pour temperature. Write your questions down before you message, so you ask once and receive answers you can keep.

Ask whether the price includes GST

Only the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states that its prices include taxes. Before comparing any two waxes, or any two sources, ask whether the price in front of you includes GST, and ask for a GST invoice with the order; CSI provides one on request. Setting a tax-inclusive price against a tax-exclusive one is not a comparison.

Buy the small pack of the exact wax

Buy 1 kg, or 500 g where that size is listed, of the same product you would buy in bulk, not a similar one. Pour it with your own recipe, cure it, burn it and keep two candles back. When you later buy 10 kg, pour from the new bag and compare. A source proves itself professional when that second pour matches the first.

Problem: a batch misbehaves and you are not sure the wax is to blame. Before you message, gather what anyone helping you will need: the exact product name, the pack size and when it arrived, your load and oil, your pour temperature, the room conditions, and clear photos of the top and the melt pool. A precise message gets a precise answer.

Judge the answer as well as the price

Send one real question on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926) before your first order, such as the pour temperature for CSI 464 or Pearl's fragrance load. How clearly and specifically it is answered tells you more about a source than a price list does. Reviews help too: one CSI 464 buyer called it “One of the best wax for container Candles. Easy to work with, especially if you are a beginner.” Treat reviews as a reason to test, not a substitute for testing.

Keep the thread
Save the WhatsApp conversation and the answers you were given. When someone new starts pouring for you, that thread is part of your spec.

Argue against interest
Buy the wax your candle needs, not the bag that looks professional.
We would sell more by telling you to buy 10 kg. On most of our waxes it is not cheaper per kilogram, and wax you cannot use before summer is a storage problem.
Price the candle, not the kilogram.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.

Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Figures verified September 2026 (CSI live pricing): Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes): ₹260.00 / 500 g, ₹507.40 / 1 kg, ₹2,537.00 / 5 kg, ₹5,074.00 / 10 kg; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks: ₹299.00 / 500 g, ₹599.00 / 1 kg, ₹2,995.00 / 5 kg, ₹5,999.00 / 10 kg; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (flakes): ₹325.00 / 500 g, ₹650.00 / 1 kg, ₹3,185.00 / 5 kg, ₹6,370.00 / 10 kg; Natural Soy Pearl Wax: ₹450.00 / 1 kg, ₹2,124.00 / 5 kg, ₹4,248.00 / 10 kg, ₹21,240.00 / 50 kg; Eco Soy CSI 400: ₹399.00 / 1 kg, ₹1,996.00 / 5 kg. Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) ₹5.90 each; Thick (C2) ₹9.44 each. Microcrystalline and Vybar usage rates are as stated on their product pages. Collection counts: Candle Wax 15, Fragrance Oils 93, Candle Wicks 7, Containers 81, Moulds 62, Dyes 25.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
