Candle Business Guides · Fragrance Oil × Quantity
One kilo of candle fragrance oil at CSI costs between ₹2,832 and ₹24,056, and half of the 87 oils in stock at that size cost ₹6,499 or less. This guide sorts every one of them, groups them into five price bands, and turns each kilo price into what it actually costs inside a candle.
₹2,832–₹24,056
per 1 kg across 87 candle fragrance oils in stock at 1 kg · median ₹6,499 · ₹45.31 to ₹384.90 of oil in a 200 g candle at 8% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does 1 kg of candle fragrance oil cost in India? At CSI in September 2026, ₹2,832 (Citrus Lemon) to ₹24,056 across 87 oils with a 1 kg pack in stock. The median is ₹6,499; the middle half of the range sits between ₹4,531.20 and ₹8,400.

What does that cost per candle? A 200 g candle at 8% holds 16 g of oil, so per-candle cost = kilo price ÷ 1,000 × 16. That is ₹45.31 at the bottom, ₹103.98 at the median and ₹384.90 at the top. At 10%, use 20 g.

Why such a wide range? Price tracks accord style and positioning far more than fragrance family. Citrus alone runs from ₹2,832 to ₹11,999 a kilo. At least six of the eleven oils above ₹10,000 carry a perfume or brand name in their title.

Is a dearer oil a stronger oil? Not on the evidence. One customer describes the ₹3,068 British Rose as strong in cold and hot throw at the minimum load. Only a cured burn test in your wax settles it.
The short answer
Read the kilo as grams: ₹5,221 a kilo is ₹5.22 a gram, and a 200 g candle at 8% uses 16 of them.
Budget on the band, not the average: 40 of the 87 oils cost under ₹6,000 a kilo. The mean (₹7,104.82) is dragged up by eleven top-shelf oils and will mislead a classic-scent budget.
Check the listing before the kilo: two oils list two 500 g packs for ₹1,699.20 less than their 1 kg pack, and 18 oils have their 1 kg pack sold out right now.
Five price bands for 1 kg of candle fragrance oil — and the oil each puts in a 200 g candle at 8% Entry · 16 oils ₹2,832–₹3,999 / kg · ₹45.31–₹63.98 per candle Core · 24 oils ₹4,177.20–₹5,999 / kg · ₹66.84–₹95.98 per candle Premium · 22 oils ₹6,018–₹7,999 / kg · ₹96.29–₹127.98 per candle Luxury · 14 oils ₹8,032–₹9,999 / kg · ₹128.51–₹159.98 per candle Top shelf · 11 oils ₹10,800–₹24,056 / kg · ₹172.80–₹384.90 Median 1 kg price ₹6,499 = ₹103.98 of oil per 200 g candle at 8%
Bar length is the most an oil in that band puts into one 200 g candle at an 8% load (16 g). The first four bands together span ₹45.31 to ₹159.98 per candle; the top shelf alone stretches to ₹384.90 — which is why the band you buy from matters more than any single kilo price.
Straight answer
What is the price of 1 kg of candle fragrance oil in India, and how should I read it?
Across the 87 candle fragrance oils CSI has in stock at 1 kg in September 2026, the listed price runs from ₹2,832 for Citrus Lemon to ₹24,056 for a perfume-inspired oil, with a median of ₹6,499. Read those numbers per candle, not per bottle. A 200 g candle at an 8% load holds 16 g of oil, so divide the kilo price by 1,000 and multiply by 16. That puts British Rose (₹3,068) at ₹49.09 a candle, Lavender (₹5,221) and Sandalwood (₹5,026.80) at ₹83.54 and ₹80.43, Dark Vanilla (₹7,646) at ₹122.34, and the eleven top-shelf oils at ₹172.80 to ₹384.90. At a 10% load every figure rises by a quarter. Price follows accord style and positioning more than family — citrus alone spans ₹2,832 to ₹11,999 — and it is not a throw rating. Before paying for a kilo, check three things on the listing: whether two 500 g packs are cheaper (on Saffron Cedarwood they are, by ₹1,699.20), whether the 1 kg pack is in stock (it is sold out on 18 oils), and whether your wax's stated load changes the grams. One kilo is the largest listed fragrance pack; for more, ask on WhatsApp.
One line: a kilo of candle fragrance oil costs ₹2,832 to ₹24,056 (median ₹6,499) — divide by 1,000, multiply by your grams per candle, and price the candle on that figure, not on the bottle.
Pricing a line on classic oils? Citrus Lemon 1 kg ₹2,832, British Rose 1 kg ₹3,068, Lavender 1 kg ₹5,221 and Sandalwood 1 kg ₹5,026.80 — each with a 15 g bottle to smell first.

The five price bands on one kilo

Eighty-seven prices are too many to carry in your head. Five bands are not.

First, what was counted. CSI lists 106 fragrance oil products. Of those, 87 have a 1 kg pack in stock in September 2026, 18 have their 1 kg pack sold out, and one (Mogra) is sold only as a 100 g bottle. Those 87 are the basis of every figure below. Essential oils, the attar base, perfume and diffuser bases and the pure oud oil are not candle fragrance oils and are left out. Perfume-inspired and BBW-inspired oils are counted, because they are sold in the same fragrance oil range in the same pack sizes and CSI publishes guidance on using perfume-inspired oils in candles.

All 87 oils 87 ₹2,832–₹24,056 ₹6,499 ₹45.31–₹384.90 ₹56.64–₹481.12

The bands are rupee thresholds, not quality tiers. Forty of the 87 oils cost under ₹6,000 a kilo — under ₹96 of oil in a 200 g candle at 8%. Sixty-two cost under ₹8,000 — under ₹128. Each band's ceiling is exactly ₹32 of oil per candle above the last, until the top shelf, which reaches ₹224.92 beyond the luxury band's. The middle half of all 87 prices runs from ₹4,531.20 to ₹8,400.

The mistake: budgeting on the average kilo. The mean 1 kg price across the 87 oils is ₹7,104.82 — ₹605.82 above the median — because eleven oils at ₹10,800 to ₹24,056 pull it upwards. Budget a lavender, rose, sandalwood and coffee line on that average and you over-provision it by well over ₹2,000 a kilo; budget a perfume-inspired line on it and you fall short by thousands. Budget on the oils you have shortlisted.

Worked out above: oil per candle = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × grams of oil. A 200 g candle at 8% holds 16 g; at 10%, 20 g. Citrus Lemon ₹2.832/g × 16 = ₹45.31 · Lavender ₹5.221/g × 16 = ₹83.54 · median ₹6.499/g × 16 = ₹103.98 · top of range ₹24.056/g × 16 = ₹384.90. For a 150 g candle at 8% use 12 g; for a 100 g candle, 8 g.
Identical price, different oil — or not?
Two Pomegranate Splash listings sit at ₹3,843 and ₹3,999 (rows 12 and 16), and several pairs match at every size — Dark Vanilla and Vanilla Bean at ₹7,646, Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood at ₹6,867.60, Cinnamon and Pumpkin Spice at ₹5,310. A matching price ladder is not proof of the same oil, or of a different one. Smell the small size of each, ask on WhatsApp if it matters, and keep the exact product link in your recipe log so every reorder hits the same listing.

What a kilo price means inside one candle

Your customer never pays for a kilo. They pay for sixteen grams of it.

A kilo of fragrance oil makes 62 × 200 g candles at 8% (1,000 ÷ 16 = 62.5), 50 at 10%, and 38 at 13% (1,000 ÷ 26 = 38.5). Load is a percentage of the finished candle, so a 200 g candle at 8% is 184 g of wax plus 16 g of oil. A ₹2,832 kilo and a ₹24,056 kilo fill exactly the same number of jars; what changes is how much of the candle's cost the oil becomes.

Materials before the jar · 200 g candle at 8% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
How far the oil's kilo price moves the cost of the candle
Oil at this 1 kg price 16 g of oil 184 g Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 1 Eco Wick (C1) Materials before jar Oil's share
₹2,832 · cheapest (Citrus Lemon) ₹45.31 ₹110.22 ₹5.90 ₹161.43 28%
₹5,221 · Lavender ₹83.54 ₹110.22 ₹5.90 ₹199.66 42%
₹6,499 · median ₹103.98 ₹110.22 ₹5.90 ₹220.10 47%
₹24,056 · dearest ₹384.90 ₹110.22 ₹5.90 ₹501.02 77%

At the median, the oil costs almost as much as the wax in a candle made with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599 a kilo. Wax comparisons move a candle by a few rupees; fragrance choice moves it by tens or hundreds. Jar, label and box come on top.

Load moves the number too. On a 200 g candle, each extra 1% of load is 2 g of oil. That costs ₹5.66 at ₹2,832 a kilo, ₹10.44 for Lavender, ₹13.00 at the median and ₹48.11 at ₹24,056. Take Lavender from 8% to 13% in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — a wax whose page states a load of up to 13% — and you add 10 g, or ₹52.21 a candle. In Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, stated up to 10%, that option does not exist. Both are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Guidance by family is in what fragrance load to use for floral, woody and gourmand oils.

Example retail prices only — not a pricing recommendation
Oil cost (200 g candle @ 8%) as a share of three example retail prices

₹2,832 (cheapest) ₹45.31 9.1% 5.7% 3.5%

₹24,056 (dearest) ₹384.90 77.1% 48.2% 29.6%
The trap: a top-shelf oil in an entry-price candle. Put ₹384.90 of oil in a candle that sells for ₹499 and ₹114.10 is left for everything else — and the soy wax alone is ₹110.22. There is no margin to find. Top-shelf oils belong in candles priced for them, or in smaller formats: a 100 g candle at 8% holds 8 g, which is ₹192.45 of the ₹24,056 oil instead of ₹384.90. Work the oil cost into your retail price before you order the kilo, using a method like the one in how to price candles in India.

Why one kilo costs 8× another

The price list cannot tell you what is inside the bottle. It can tell you what the price is not tracking.

CSI's product pages do not publish formulations, so no single oil's price can be explained precisely. What holds generally across the fragrance trade is that complex, layered accords — perfume-style blends, heavy ambers, ouds, smoky compositions — cost more to create than simple fresh, fruity or single-note oils, and perfume-inspired recreations carry positioning in their price. The CSI list fits that pattern. The entry band is mostly fresh, fruit and single-flower oils — Citrus Lemon, Citronella, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea, Honeydew Melon, Zesty Lemon, Fresh Strawberries, Orchard Pear. At the other end, at least six of the eleven top-shelf oils carry a perfume or brand name in their title.

What the list does not show is price following family.

Same family, very different kilo · CSI live pricing, September 2026
The lowest- and highest-priced 1 kg oil in seven families, and the gap per candle

Vanilla Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4,554.80 Vanilla Orange Blossom ₹8,294 1.8× ₹59.82

So the decision runs in a particular order. Choose the family for the customer — the room, the occasion, the gift — and then choose the price point inside the family. A maker who says "rose is too expensive for my market" has usually looked at one rose; the list has one at ₹49.09 a candle and one at ₹127.98. For how perfume-style oils fit a range, see designer-inspired vs classic fragrances.

Price is not a throw rating. The only published evidence on CSI's oils is customer reviews, and they do not line up with price: a buyer of British Rose (₹3,068 a kilo) writes that it has "strong fragrance in cold throw and hot throw", and a buyer of Roasted Coffee (₹3,738) calls it "quite strong". Neither is a lab test. The fix is the same at every price: cure the candle, then compare oils side by side with a controlled burn test.

Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil
At ₹2,832 a kilo this is the lowest 1 kg price of all 87 oils, and a customer rates it "Quality is good with good fragrance". Citrus top notes are among the most volatile parts of any fragrance, so give it a full cure and an anchoring base note, and read why citrus fragrances fade in candles before committing a kilo.

The joint third-cheapest kilo at ₹3,068, and the entry-band oil with the most specific customer feedback: one reviewer describes five years of testing and writes that you "can go for the minimum percentage in candle". That is one maker's experience, not a specification — but it is reason enough to test it before deciding rose is a premium-only family.

Core band · the most-reviewed oil
Lavender Fragrance Oil
Six published reviews — more than any other CSI fragrance oil — including one that says "Hot throw is also very good after burn candle" and another that calls it "quite versatile". At ₹5,221 a kilo it sits just below the median, which is typical of the core band: the evergreen scents most lines are built on. Note that two 500 g packs cost ₹5,240, so the kilo is the cheaper way to buy a full kilo, by ₹19.

Premium band · gourmand
Dark Vanilla Fragrance
A ₹7,646 kilo that a customer calls "One of the best fragrance oils". Its per-gram price falls at every size step, from ₹8.67 in the 15 g bottle to ₹7.65 at 1 kg. Vanilla-type oils can discolour pale wax over time, so if your candle is white, pour a test jar and watch it through cure — the causes are set out in why some vanilla fragrance oils turn candle wax yellow.

White Royal Oud
At ₹8,103 a kilo, near the bottom of the luxury band — and a useful illustration of how flat pricing can be above 100 g: the 100 g bottle works out at ₹8,100 a kilo and the 500 g at ₹8,102, so the kilo buys convenience, not a lower gram price. It costs ₹57.15 more per candle than Woody Oud (₹4,531.20) at 8% — the real question for an oud line is whether your customer pays for that. CSI's guide on White Royal Oud as a year-round luxury scent covers positioning.

No card for the top shelf, deliberately: those eleven oils suit lines already priced around them. Buy the 50 g or 100 g size first, pour it in the format you will sell, and only then put ₹10,000 or more into one kilo.

Five checks before you pay for a kilo

At 1 kg, small listing details start costing real money. Run these five checks first.

1
Convert the kilo to your candle, at your loadKilo price ÷ 1,000 × grams of oil in your candle. For a 150 g candle at 10%, that is 15 g; for a 200 g candle at 8%, 16 g. If that figure breaks your retail price, stop — no other check will rescue it.
2
Compare the kilo with two 500 g packsOn most oils the kilo is equal or cheaper — Lavender's kilo is ₹19 less than two 500 g packs. But not always. Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood both list 500 g at ₹2,584.20 and 1 kg at ₹6,867.60, so two 500 g packs cost ₹5,168.40 — ₹1,699.20 less than the kilo. A gap that large may be corrected on the listing, so confirm on WhatsApp before you order either way. The full per-gram ladder across sizes is in candle fragrance oil bulk price in India.
3
Check the kilo is actually in stockEighteen fragrance oils currently show their 1 kg pack as sold out, including Vetiver and Sacred Sandal Ember, whose smaller sizes are still available. If a scent matters to your line, ask on WhatsApp about 1 kg availability before you print its label.
4
Smell it small before you buy it bigFifty of the oils have a 15 g bottle in stock and 79 have a 50 g pack. A 50 g test of Lavender costs ₹270 — about 5% of the kilo — and fills three 200 g candles at 8%, enough for one cure-and-burn comparison. The method is in how to test hot throw before launching a candle fragrance.
5
Match the load to the wax, and ask for documentsYour wax sets the maximum grams, not the oil: up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468, up to 10% for CSI 464. If you sell to retailers, hotels or corporate buyers, request the MSDS and IFRA documentation for the oil on WhatsApp at the same time as the price.
The CSI principle
Price the candle on the sixteen grams in it, not on the kilo on the shelf.
A ₹2,832 kilo and a ₹24,056 kilo both fill 62 candles at 8%. The difference is ₹45.31 or ₹384.90 inside each one — and whether that number fits the price on your label is the only question the kilo price is really asking.

Pricing a four-scent line across bands

Most candle lines don't sit in one band. The retail price usually does.

Here is a four-scent line built from oils in three bands: British Rose (₹3,068), Sandalwood (₹5,026.80), Lavender (₹5,221) and Dark Vanilla (₹7,646). A kilo of each costs ₹20,961.80 and makes 250 × 200 g candles at 8% (62.5 per kilo). Per candle, the oil costs ₹49.09, ₹80.43, ₹83.54 and ₹122.34 — a spread of ₹73.25 inside one line that the customer sees as one product at one price.

If the four scents sell in equal numbers, the blended oil cost is ₹83.85 a candle (₹20,961.80 ÷ 4 kg ÷ 1,000 × 16). It is only safe while the sales mix stays even, and one scent usually pulls ahead.

The blended average only works while sales stay blended. Suppose Dark Vanilla becomes the bestseller and sells three candles for every one of the others. The blended oil cost becomes (3 × ₹122.34 + ₹49.09 + ₹80.43 + ₹83.54) ÷ 6 = ₹96.68 a candle — ₹12.83 higher than the equal-mix figure, on every candle, at the same retail price. Two fixes work: price the whole line on the dearest oil in it, or split the line into two retail tiers so the premium-band scent carries its own price.
Building a line across several kilos? 1 kg is the largest listed fragrance pack, so larger and recurring orders are quoted directly. Bulk pricing, GST invoicing and MSDS/IFRA documentation are handled on WhatsApp — send the oils, the kilos of each and how often you reorder.

Above one kilo of a single oil, nothing is listed. Two kilos of Lavender at listed prices is 2 × ₹5,221 = ₹10,442; three kilos of British Rose, 3 × ₹3,068 = ₹9,204. Treat listed multiples as the ceiling and ask for a quote rather than assuming one. Five-kilo arithmetic for popular oils is in candle fragrance oil 5 kg wholesale price; whether a scent has earned a kilo at all is covered in buying 1 kg of candle fragrance oil.

A kilo of fragrance oil has no price problem. A candle with the wrong kilo in it does.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles, and it sells every oil in this table. The commercially easy page would steer you to the top shelf. This one shows 40 oils under ₹6,000 a kilo and warns you off a ₹24,056 oil in a ₹499 candle — because a maker whose margins work keeps reordering.

Every price and pack size here comes from live CSI stock in September 2026, and every oil links to its product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Bands, medians and quartiles are calculated from each in-stock oil's 1 kg price. Fragrance loads are quoted only as the wax product pages state them — up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468, up to 10% for CSI 464 — and are wax formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Reviews are quoted as customers wrote them and are not performance tests.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of 1 kg candle fragrance oil in India?
At CSI in September 2026, 87 candle fragrance oils are in stock at 1 kg, priced from ₹2,832 (Citrus Lemon) to ₹24,056. The median is ₹6,499, and the middle half of the range runs from ₹4,531.20 to ₹8,400. Sixteen oils cost under ₹4,000 a kilo, including British Rose at ₹3,068 and Roasted Coffee at ₹3,738; eleven cost ₹10,000 or more. Each product page shows the current price.
How many candles can I make with 1 kg of fragrance oil?
For 200 g candles, 62 at an 8% load (16 g each), 50 at 10% (20 g) and 38 at 13% (26 g). For 150 g candles at 8% it is 83, and for 100 g candles, 125. The price of the oil changes the cost per candle, not the count. Never exceed the load your wax states.
Why are some candle fragrance oils so much more expensive?
Product pages do not publish formulations, so no single price can be explained precisely. Generally, complex layered accords and perfume-style blends cost more to create than simple fresh or fruity oils, and at least six of CSI's eleven oils above ₹10,000 carry a perfume or brand name in their title. But family does not set price: citrus runs from ₹2,832 to ₹11,999 a kilo, and rose from ₹3,068 to ₹7,999.
Is it cheaper to buy 1 kg of fragrance oil or two 500 g packs?
Usually the kilo, or it is a tie. Lavender's 1 kg pack is ₹5,221 against ₹5,240 for two 500 g packs, and on many oils the per-gram price is identical from 500 g to 1 kg. The notable exceptions are Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood, where two 500 g packs (₹5,168.40) list ₹1,699.20 below the 1 kg pack (₹6,867.60). Check both prices on the product page, and confirm unusual gaps on WhatsApp.
Does a more expensive fragrance oil make a stronger-smelling candle?
Not reliably. There is no published performance data that ranks CSI's oils by price, and the customer reviews that mention strength point at inexpensive oils: British Rose (₹3,068 a kilo) is described as strong in cold and hot throw, and Roasted Coffee (₹3,738) as quite strong. Throw depends on cure, wick, wax and load as much as the oil. Test two oils side by side in your own wax before paying for a premium kilo.
Can I buy more than 1 kg of one fragrance oil?
1 kg is the largest fragrance pack CSI lists. You can order several 1 kg packs at the listed price — two kilos of Lavender is ₹10,442 — and those listed multiples are the most that quantity should cost. For larger or recurring volumes, message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with the oil names, kilos of each, reorder frequency, GST number and delivery pincode to get a quote, GST invoice and documentation.
