At bulk scale the maths is simple and the mistakes are expensive. This page gives the oil and wax for three run sizes and turns them into real pack orders. One thing CSI cannot cover from its listed catalogue: no tealight cups or tealight wicks were found on 24 September 2026 — ask on WhatsApp whether CSI can supply them before you commit to a run.

fragrance oil for 10,000 illustrative 12 g tealights at 8%, including a 5% allowance (9.60 kg net) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Can CSI supply tealight cups and wicks for a bulk run? They were not in CSI's catalogue on 24 September 2026. We found no tealight cups and no tealight wicks. Ask CSI on WhatsApp whether they can supply them, in your quantity and by your date, before you order oil.

How much fragrance oil for 1,000 tealights? At 12 g and 8%, 0.96 kg net, about 1.01 kg with a 5% allowance. At 15 g, 1.2 kg net and 1.26 kg with allowance.

How much for 5,000 and 10,000? At 12 g and 8% with 5%: 5.04 kg for 5,000 and 10.08 kg for 10,000. At 15 g: 6.30 kg and 12.60 kg. Full grid in the quantities table.

What does the oil cost for 10,000 tealights? Oil for 10,000 at 12 g with allowance: ₹33,628.82 in Cucumber Green Tea, ₹39,650.00 in Jasmine, ₹42,952.00 in Fallen Leaves, bought in listed packs.
The short answer
Oil at 12 g, 8%, +5%: 1,000 → 1.01 kg · 5,000 → 5.04 kg · 10,000 → 10.08 kg.
Wax at 12 g, +5%: 1,000 → 11.59 kg · 5,000 → 57.96 kg · 10,000 → 115.92 kg. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the one wax with a bulk break (₹424.80/kg from 5 kg).

Fragrance oil for a bulk tealight run — 8% load, with a 5% allowance for pour loss and test burns 1.01 kg 12 g fill 1.26 kg 15 g fill 1,000 tealights 5.04 kg 12 g fill 6.30 kg 15 g fill 5,000 tealights 10.08 kg 12 g fill 12.60 kg 15 g fill 10,000 tealights Light = 12 g tealight (0.96 g oil each) · dark = 15 g tealight (1.2 g oil each). Fills are illustrative, not published cup sizes. Cups and wicks for these runs: not listed by CSI on 24 September 2026 — ask on WhatsApp.
Oil scales exactly with the count, so the bars grow tenfold from 1,000 to 10,000. The fill size moves them by a quarter: a 15 g tealight takes 1.2 g of oil at 8% against 0.96 g for a 12 g. Weigh your own cup's fill before you order; a one-gram difference in fill is 0.84 kg of oil across 10,000 tealights, with allowance.
Straight answer
How much fragrance oil do you need for bulk tealight production, and how should you buy it?
At an illustrative 12 g fill and an 8% load, each tealight takes 0.96 g of oil. So 1,000 tealights need 0.96 kg, 5,000 need 4.8 kg and 10,000 need 9.6 kg — about 1.01, 5.04 and 10.08 kg with a 5% allowance for pour loss and test burns. At a 15 g fill, add a quarter. Wax is the other 92%: 115.92 kg for 10,000 with allowance. Buy the oil in 1 kg and 500 g packs, topped up with 100 g, and check each oil's price shape — Jasmine's two 500 g packs cost ₹1.00 less than its 1 kg. Buy wax in the largest bags; Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the only one that gets cheaper per kilo at volume. Before any of that, sort the cups and wicks: CSI's catalogue had no tealight cups or tealight wicks on 24 September 2026, so ask on WhatsApp whether CSI can supply them for your run.
One line: 0.96 g a tealight, 9.6 kg per ten thousand, plus 5% — then buy in the packs that price the kilo lowest.
A 1,000-tealight run in one scent, 12 g at 8% with allowance: Cucumber Green Tea 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g for ₹3,680.42, or Jasmine 2 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g for ₹4,352.00. Tealight cups and wicks are not listed — ask CSI on WhatsApp first.

Oil and wax for 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000

Bulk tealight maths is one multiplication. The expensive part is doing it with the wrong fill weight.

Everything on this page follows from two numbers: the fill weight of your tealight and the load. We use illustrative fills of 12 g and 15 g — no tealight cup is listed by CSI, so there is no published cup size to use — and 8% as the working load, inside both published ceilings (13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, 10% for CSI 464). Oil is fill × load; wax is the rest. The table adds the 3–5% allowance most makers plan for pour loss and test burns, which is a working assumption, not a measured figure.

8% load · oil and wax in kg · allowance is a working assumption
Oil and wax for three bulk run sizes
Tealights Fill Oil each Oil net Oil +3% Oil +5% Wax +5%
1,000 12 g 0.96 g 0.96 kg 0.99 kg 1.01 kg 11.59 kg
1,000 15 g 1.2 g 1.20 kg 1.24 kg 1.26 kg 14.49 kg
5,000 12 g 0.96 g 4.80 kg 4.94 kg 5.04 kg 57.96 kg
5,000 15 g 1.2 g 6.00 kg 6.18 kg 6.30 kg 72.45 kg
10,000 12 g 0.96 g 9.60 kg 9.89 kg 10.08 kg 115.92 kg
10,000 15 g 1.2 g 12.00 kg 12.36 kg 12.60 kg 144.90 kg

Two things in the table matter more than they look. The fill column: moving from 12 g to 15 g adds a quarter to both oil and wax, so a supplier's cup that holds a little more than you assumed will quietly under-order your run. Weigh ten filled cups and take the average before you order anything. The allowance columns: on 10,000 tealights, the gap between 3% and 5% is 192 g of oil. That is a 100 g bottle and more — enough to be worth deciding on purpose rather than by accident.

Order by weighed fill, not by cup label
Tealight cups are often described by volume or by a nominal size, not by the weight of wax they hold. Fill ten with water or wax, weigh them, and use the average in grams. If your average is 13.4 g, your oil per tealight at 8% is 1.072 g, and 10,000 need 11.26 kg with allowance — not the 10.08 kg in the table. How Much Fragrance Oil Should I Use in Tealight Candles? covers per-piece grams at 6% and 10% as well.

Turning grams into a pack order

CSI lists oil up to 1 kg, so a bulk run is built from 1 kg, 500 g and 100 g packs. The cheapest combination is not always "all kilos", because some oils price their 500 g at or below half their 1 kg. The table below finds the cheapest listed combination (100 g and up) covering each run at 12 g, 8%, with the 5% allowance, for three oils with different price shapes.

12 g · 8% · +5% · cheapest listed combination of 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg packs · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Pack-by-pack oil orders for three oils
Oil Tealights Order Oil bought Cost Order ÷ tealights
Jasmine 1,000 2 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g 1.10 kg ₹4,352.00 ₹4.35
Jasmine 5,000 10 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g 5.10 kg ₹20,040.00 ₹4.01
Jasmine 10,000 20 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g 10.10 kg ₹39,650.00 ₹3.96
Fallen Leaves 1,000 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 1.10 kg ₹4,720.00 ₹4.72
Fallen Leaves 5,000 5 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 5.10 kg ₹21,712.00 ₹4.34
Fallen Leaves 10,000 10 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 10.10 kg ₹42,952.00 ₹4.30
Cucumber Green Tea 1,000 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 1.10 kg ₹3,680.42 ₹3.68
Cucumber Green Tea 5,000 5 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 5.10 kg ₹16,990.82 ₹3.40
Cucumber Green Tea 10,000 10 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g 10.10 kg ₹33,628.82 ₹3.36

Three price shapes show up. Jasmine is cheapest in 500 g packs: two cost ₹3,922.00 against ₹3,923.00 for the 1 kg, so the order is built from half-kilos. Fallen Leaves and Cucumber Green Tea price their 500 g and 1 kg at the same per-gram rate, so the kilo simply means fewer bottles. All three have a real bulk saving against their own 100 g — 8.8% for Jasmine, 10.0% for Fallen Leaves and 5.7% for Cucumber Green Tea — which is why the per-tealight figure falls as the run grows and the 100 g top-up becomes a smaller share of the order.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The 5% allowance is a planning figure, not a rule, and on a big run it is real money. On 10,000 tealights it is 480 g of oil. If your pour line is tidy and your last run lost less, plan 3% and buy the difference later in 100 g if you need it — it arrives quickly compared with a whole run standing idle, but it costs you nothing to hold back. Do not let us, or anyone, sell you a safety margin you do not use.

Beyond the listed packs — a standing order of several kilos a month, or one run that needs more than a shelf of 1 kg bottles — ask for a quote. No discount figure is published, and on most oils the listed kilo is already priced flat against the 100 g, so the quote is about supply and consistency as much as rate. Wholesale fragrance oils for tealight manufacturers lists the 24 oils whose kilo genuinely costs less and explains what to put in the quote request.

Wax for the run

Oil gets the attention. Wax is 92% of every tealight and most of the weight you will move.

At 12 g and 8%, each tealight holds 11.04 g of wax. With the 5% allowance that is 11.59 kg per 1,000 tealights. CSI lists three waxes in bulk bags that suit a small container; the table prices the cheapest bag combination (1 kg and up) for each run. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 464 are priced flat per kilo at every bag size, while Natural Soy Pearl Wax drops from ₹450.00 a kilo at 1 kg to ₹424.80 from 5 kg — the only bulk break in the wax range. One quirk: the Chunks 10 kg bag is ₹599.90 a kilo against ₹599.00 for the 5 kg, so the cheapest Chunks order is built from 5 kg bags.

The price gap is real — on 10,000 tealights, ₹20,182.00 between Chunks and Soy Pearl — but price is not the first question. The two soy container waxes are the only ones with a published fragrance ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%. For Natural Soy Pearl Wax, no ceiling is in our data: check the product page or ask on WhatsApp for the wax maker's stated maximum, and run your 8% pour as a test before committing 50 kg to it. Whichever wax you choose, burn-test it in your cups with your wicks first.

The bulk run that changed two things. Moving from test batches in one wax to a production run in a cheaper one, at the same time as moving to a new cup supplier, is how a proven scent turns into a complaint. Change one thing per run. If the wax changes, re-test the oil at 8% in the new wax and your production cup before pouring thousands.

Splitting a run across scents

Few bulk tealight runs are one scent. A festive or gifting order of 10,000 might be four scents of 2,500 each. Splitting changes the order in two ways: each scent needs its own allowance, and smaller quantities per oil push more of the order into 100 g top-ups. Here is 10,000 12 g tealights split four ways at 8% with 5% allowance:

Four scents × 2,500 tealights · 12 g · 8% · +5% · cheapest listed combination, 100 g and up
A 10,000-tealight run in four scents
Oil Tealights Oil needed (g) Order Cost
Jasmine 2,500 2,520 5 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g ₹10,235.00
Fallen Leaves 2,500 2,520 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g ₹11,092.00
Cucumber Green Tea 2,500 2,520 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g ₹8,671.82
Sandalwood 2,500 2,520 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 1 × 100 g ₹13,069.68
Total 10,000 10,080 ₹43,068.50

The four-scent run costs ₹43,068.50 in oil against ₹33,628.82 for 10,000 in Cucumber Green Tea alone. Most of that gap is the choice of scents, not the split: Sandalwood is ₹5.03 a gram at every size from 100 g, and it has no bulk break to lean on. That is a business decision, not a mistake — festive buyers commonly expect a woody or floral option — but it is worth seeing the number before you commit. The tealight shortlist covers which families suit which occasions, and how much fragrance oil to buy for Diwali production covers the festive planning side.

Ten thousand tealights is 9.6 kilos of oil. Weigh the cup before you order the kilos.

Running a bulk batch without waste

The oil order is only right if the production run matches it. These steps keep the grams you bought in the tealights you sell.

1
Confirm cups and wicks before oilCSI did not list tealight cups or tealight wicks on 24 September 2026. Ask whether CSI can supply them in your quantity and by your date, or confirm your other supplier, before you commit to oil and wax.
2
Weigh the real fillAverage ten filled cups. Recalculate the order from that figure, not from 12 g or 15 g.
3
Batch by weight, at a fixed loadWeigh wax and oil per melt — for example 4.8 kg of wax plus 417.4 g of oil is exactly 8% of a 5,217.4 g batch, about 434 tealights at 12 g. Use a weighing scale for every batch, not a jug mark.
4
Hold temperatures steadyAdd oil and pour at the same temperatures every batch, checked with a pen thermometer. Consistency across batches matters more than any single number.
5
Keep lot recordsNote the oil bottle and wax bag used in each batch. If a customer reports a problem, you can trace it to a batch instead of recalling a run.
6
Pull and burn samplesTake a few tealights from each batch and burn them after cure. The allowance in your order exists partly for this.
The CSI principle
Order from the weighed fill, batch by weight, record every lot.
Bulk production is not a big test batch. The maths is the same; the discipline is what keeps a 10,000-piece run consistent from the first tray to the last.

A bulk order is the last step, not the first. The oil in it should already have passed a side-by-side tealight test, been bought small via Buy Fragrance Oils for Tealight Candle Making while it proved itself, and belong to a family that suits the format — which fragrances work best in small candles sets out that reasoning.

Here are the three oils used in this page's orders, with every listed size, so you can re-cost the run at your own quantities.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. This page gives bulk quantities that lean towards less oil, not more: it tells you to weigh your real fill, to question the 5% allowance and to top up in 100 g later rather than over-buy. It also says plainly that tealight cups and wicks were not in our catalogue on the pull date.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing pulled on 24 September 2026. Pack orders are the cheapest combination of listed in-stock packs of 100 g and above that covers the stated quantity; they are arithmetic, shown to two decimals. The scale and thermometer are the items verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026.

The 12 g and 15 g fills, the 8% load and the 3–5% allowance are working assumptions, not published specifications. For bulk quotes, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA certificates, or to ask about tealight cups and wicks, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Tealight cups and tealight wicks: not found in the catalogue on the pull date; not priced.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Fills of 12 g and 15 g are illustrative; no tealight cup is listed, so no published fill exists. Oil = count × fill × 8%; wax = count × fill × 92%. Allowances of 3% and 5% are working assumptions for pour loss and test burns. Pack orders are the cheapest listed in-stock combinations of 100 g and larger packs covering the quantity with 5% allowance; wax orders use bags of 1 kg and larger. Figures exclude cups, wicks, labour, packaging, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10% (wax makers' stated maximums, not regulatory); none quoted for Natural Soy Pearl Wax. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
