Commercial Fragrance · Large Three-Wick Jars
A three-wick candle is a big jar with a big melt pool. The oil does not need to change; the quantity does, and so do the wicks. CSI does not list a three-wick jar, so this page uses illustrative 400 g and 600 g fills, prices the oil, wax and wicks, and routes the jar question to WhatsApp.
48 g
of fragrance oil in a 600 g three-wick candle at 8% · 32 g in a 400 g candle · illustrative fills, CSI live pricing September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much fragrance oil for a three-wick candle? Weight × load. At 8%, a 400 g candle takes 32 g and a 600 g candle takes 48 g. At 6% it is 24 g and 36 g; at 10%, 40 g and 60 g. The fills are illustrative; weigh your jar.

Do three-wick candles need different fragrance oils? Generally no. The same candle oils you use in smaller jars are usable in large ones; what changes is the quantity, the wicks and the burn. Test every oil in the large format before selling, because a wider, hotter pool behaves differently. The three-wick Q&A goes deeper.

Does CSI sell three-wick jars? No three-wick jar is listed in CSI's catalogue on the pull date. Ask on WhatsApp whether one can be supplied. We do not price one here.

Which wick size for a three-wick jar? Wick sizes by jar diameter are not published, and we will not invent them. Test three wicks of one type in your jar and adjust. Three Eco Thin C1 wicks cost ₹17.70 per candle.
The short answer
Oil per candle: 400 g: 24 g (6%) · 32 g (8%) · 40 g (10%). 600 g: 36 g · 48 g · 60 g. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%.
Cost (no jar): 600 g at 8%, three Eco Thin C1, Chunks: Lavender ₹607.55 · Fallen Leaves ₹574.91 · Cinnamon Vanilla ₹580.57 — plus your jar.
Three-wick jar: Not listed at CSI on the pull date. Ask on WhatsApp whether one can be supplied; weigh any jar you use to get its real fill.
Seen from above — why a wide jar needs more than one wick One wick, wide jar Pool stays in the centre; wax wall remains Three wicks, wide jar Pools overlap and reach the glass — if the wicks are right Same oil, same load Dark = liquid wax. Wick size and spacing are found by burn test; none is published for any jar.
A single wick in a wide jar melts a pool in the centre and leaves a wall of wax, wasting oil and scent. Three wicks make three pools that merge across the surface. How far apart and how large the wicks should be depends on your jar and wax, and only a burn test answers it. CSI does not publish wick sizes or spacing for any jar.
Straight answer
Which fragrance oils work in large three-wick jar candles, and how much do they need?
The oils you already use in smaller jars are generally usable in a large three-wick candle; the format changes the quantity, the wicks and the burn, not the kind of oil. Test each oil in the large jar before you sell it, because three wicks make a wider, hotter pool. The quantity is simple arithmetic. CSI does not list a three-wick jar, so this page uses illustrative 400 g and 600 g fills: at 8%, a 400 g candle takes 32 g of oil and a 600 g candle 48 g, and at 6% or 10% the figures are 24 g/36 g and 40 g/60 g. Stay within your wax's stated maximum — up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, up to 10% for CSI 464. With three Eco Thin C1 wicks (₹17.70) and Chunks, a 600 g Fallen Leaves candle costs ₹574.91 in oil, wax and wicks, before the jar. Wick size and spacing are not published for any jar; set them by burn test. For the jar itself, ask CSI on WhatsApp whether one can be supplied.
One line: the oil scales with the weight; the wicks and the jar are the part you actually have to solve.
A large festive candle needs a lot of one oil. Fallen Leaves 500 g at ₹2,124.00 is ₹4.25 a gram, 10% less than its 100 g, and pours 10.42 three-wick candles at 600 g and 8% — ten candles with 20 g to spare.

Oil and wax for 400 g and 600 g

A three-wick candle is two or three ordinary candles' worth of oil in one jar. The maths does not change; the numbers do.

No three-wick jar is listed at CSI on the pull date, so there is no published fill weight to start from. The two sizes here — 400 g and 600 g — are illustrative, chosen to bracket common large jars. If you have a jar, fill it with water to your pour line, weigh it, and remember wax weighs a little less than the same volume of water; pour a test candle and weigh that to get your real fill. Then read across the table at your weight.

Illustrative fills · load = oil ÷ total weight · ceilings are the wax maker's stated maximums
Oil and wax per three-wick candle
Fill Load Oil Wax Versus a 200 g jar at 8% Within Chunks (13%) Within CSI 464 (10%)
400 g (illustrative) 6% 24 g 376 g 1.5× Yes Yes
400 g (illustrative) 8% 32 g 368 g 2.0× Yes Yes
400 g (illustrative) 10% 40 g 360 g 2.5× Yes Yes
600 g (illustrative) 6% 36 g 564 g 2.2× Yes Yes
600 g (illustrative) 8% 48 g 552 g 3.0× Yes Yes
600 g (illustrative) 10% 60 g 540 g 3.8× Yes Yes

The "versus" column compares each candle's oil with the 16 g in a standard 200 g jar at 8%. A 600 g candle at 8% holds three times as much oil; at 10% it holds 3.75 times. That multiplier is the thing to remember when you plan an order: a batch of big candles eats oil much faster than the same number of small jars. Buying 1 kg for container production shows how many candles of each size one kilo pours.

8% load · candles per pack
How many candles each pack pours

500 g 31.25 15.62 10.42
1 kg 62.50 31.25 20.83
Buy the large format in 500 g or 1 kg
A 100 g bottle pours only two 600 g candles at 8%. For a large-format line, the 500 g or 1 kg is the working size. For oils with a real step at 500 g — Fallen Leaves, Mango Coconut, Honeydew Melon and Verbena among them — the bigger pack also costs less per gram.

Do big jars need different oils?

Generally, no. CSI's fragrance oils are sold for candle making, and the same oil can be used in a 50 g mini and a 600 g three-wick jar. What changes in the big jar is the burn: three flames, a wide pool and more heat in the glass. In general candle-making practice, that can change how a scent comes across, so a scent you love in a small jar still needs its own test in the large one. We have not published throw measurements for any oil, in any size.

Where large candles do suggest a choice is in the character of the scent. A three-wick candle is usually bought for a living room, a hall or a festive table, so warm, room-filling families are the natural first tests: woods, spices and gourmands for the festive season, clean herbals for everyday. The table below costs five candidates in both sizes. They are test candidates, not rankings. Do three-wick candles need different oils? answers the question in Q&A form.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. It would be easy to invent a "three-wick range" of special oils and charge more for it. There is no such thing in our catalogue, and you do not need one. Use the oils that already sell in your smaller jars, test them in the large jar, and spend the effort on the wicks and the jar instead. The only extra oil you need to buy is the extra quantity.

What a three-wick candle costs

Without a listed jar, the honest cost of a three-wick candle has a blank line in it. Here is everything else.

The table prices oil, wax and three Eco Thin C1 wicks for each candidate at its 100 g rate, with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 a kilo. The jar is left out because CSI does not list a three-wick jar; add your own jar's cost to the total. Figures exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST.

8% load · oil at the 100 g rate · Chunks ₹0.60/g · three Eco Thin C1 at ₹5.90 · jar not included
Oil, wax and wicks per three-wick candle

Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4.84 ₹154.82 ₹392.95 ₹232.22 ₹580.57

At 600 g and 8%, the oil runs from ₹226.56 (Fallen Leaves) to ₹259.20 (Lavender) at the 100 g rate, and the wax is ₹330.65 whatever the oil. Buying the oil at 500 g or 1 kg lowers the oil line for oils with a real break: Fallen Leaves falls to ₹203.90 at the 500 g rate. The three wicks add ₹17.70, which is small beside the oil and wax, but wick choice changes the whole burn, so it is the line that deserves the most testing.

The CSI principle
Scale the oil by weight. Solve the wicks by test.
Oil in a large candle is simple arithmetic: fill × load. Wicks are not. Three wicks in a wide jar interact, and their size and spacing decide whether the pool reaches the glass. No chart can do that for your jar; a burn test can.

Three wicks, one burn test

CSI does not publish wick sizes or spacing for any jar diameter, and this page will not invent them. The sequence below is general practice for finding the right set-up in your own jar.

1
Get the jar firstNo three-wick jar is listed at CSI. Ask on WhatsApp whether one can be supplied, or use one you already have. Weigh a test fill.
2
Pick one wick type and test three of itStart with three Eco Thin C1 (₹17.70 a candle) and, in a second jar, three Eco Thick C2 (₹28.32). Space them evenly around the centre, well away from the glass. Fix them with wick stickers (₹100.00 for 40).
3
Pour at 8% with an oil you knowUse an oil that already works in your small jars, so the wick is the only new variable.
4
Burn a full session and watch the poolThe pools should merge and reach, or nearly reach, the glass without soot, very tall flames or a jar that becomes too hot to handle. Large multi-wick candles run hotter than single-wick jars; watch the glass.
5
Adjust one thing and repeatChange the wick type or the spacing, not both. Record every test on the base of the jar.
6
Then test your other oilsOnce the wick set-up is fixed, pour each oil you plan to sell in the large format and score them side by side. Strong oils for scented jar candles has the scoring sheet.
The borrowed wick. A maker scales a 200 g recipe to 600 g and puts three of the same wick in a wide jar because "three times the wax needs three times the wick". The pools meet in the middle but tunnel at the edges, or overlap and run too hot. Wick behaviour in a wide jar does not scale by simple multiplication. Test it.

Pick cards for the two festive candidates and one everyday one follow. All three are in stock at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg, which matters for a large format.

A 20-candle festive batch

Here is a festive run of 20 three-wick candles at an illustrative 600 g and 8%: 10 in Fallen Leaves and 10 in Cinnamon Vanilla. Each scent needs 480 g of oil, 499.2 g with a 4% allowance, so one 500 g pack of each. Wax is 11.04 kg, 11.48 kg with the allowance, so 12 kg. The allowance sits inside the working assumption of 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns. The jar is not included, because CSI does not list one.

Large candles are also where a luxury collection often puts its hero piece. Designing a luxury container collection covers how a large candle fits a range, and premium oils for luxury jar candles costs premium oils; at 48 g per candle, a premium oil at ₹7.99 a gram puts ₹383.52 of oil into one 600 g candle. Three wicks do not need three kinds of oil. They need one good burn test.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We do not list a three-wick jar, and this page says so rather than pricing one. We also do not sell special oils for large candles, because the ones you already use are generally usable; the honest advice is to test them in the big jar and spend the effort on wicks.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick and wick-sticker prices were pulled on 25 September 2026. Every quantity and cost is arithmetic on those prices and the stated fills, shown to two decimals so you can check it.

The 400 g and 600 g fills are illustrative because no three-wick jar is listed. Wick sizes and spacing are not published for any jar; set them by burn test. Load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax maker's stated maximums. For a three-wick jar enquiry, a quote, MSDS or IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil do I put in a 3 wick candle?
Multiply the candle's weight by the load. At 8%: 400 g needs 32 g of oil and 600 g needs 48 g. At 10%: 40 g and 60 g. Stay within your wax's stated maximum — up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, up to 10% for CSI 464.
Can I use the same fragrance oil in large and small candles?
Generally yes. The oil does not need to change; the quantity, wicks and burn do. Test each oil in the large jar before selling, because a wide, three-wick pool behaves differently from a small one.
Where can I buy three-wick candle jars in India?
CSI does not list a three-wick jar on the pull date. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 whether one can be supplied. Whatever jar you use, weigh a test fill before costing.
What size wicks for a three-wick candle?
It depends on your jar and wax, and no size chart is published here. Test three wicks of one type — for example three Eco Thin C1 at ₹5.90 each — and adjust the type or spacing one change at a time.
How much does it cost to make a large three-wick candle?
Before the jar: a 600 g Fallen Leaves candle at 8% with Chunks and three Eco Thin C1 wicks costs ₹574.91 at the 100 g oil rate. Our 20-candle batch works out at ₹620.15 per candle before jars, freight and GST.
Why does my three-wick candle tunnel?
Usually the wicks are too small or too far apart for the jar, so the pools do not merge. Test a larger wick type or closer spacing, one change at a time. The oil is rarely the cause.
Big candle, same oils
Scale the oil by weight, test the wicks in your jar, and ask us about the jar itself.
Fallen Leaves 500 g at ₹2,124.00, Cinnamon Vanilla 500 g at ₹2,301.00, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 a kilo and Eco wicks at ₹5.90 each. Our 20-candle batch comes to ₹12,403.00 before jars. Ask on WhatsApp whether a three-wick jar can be supplied.
