Best Fragrances for a Luxury Container Candle Collection
Share
Which fragrances make the best luxury container collection? Cover six roles. One tested set from CSI: Bergamot Amber (signature), Raat Ki Rani (Indian floral), Saffron Cedarwood (woody-spice), Dark Vanilla Oud (deep), Verbena (fresh) and Cinnamon Vanilla (festive). Test each in your jar and wax.
What does it cost to launch a six-scent collection? 10 White Matte jars and 5 golden minis per scent — 90 candles — comes to ₹21,841.80 in oils, wax, jars and wicks. Testers for all six first cost ₹656.28.
Should every scent in a collection cost the same to make? They rarely do. In this range oil per 200 g jar runs from ₹77.41 to ₹112.00. Price the collection on the average or tier the dearest scents; decide before launch, not after.
Six roles a collection needs
Luxury buyers walk up to a shelf with a mood in mind — fresh, floral, warm, deep — and a gift buyer is often shopping for someone else's mood. A collection built by role covers those moods without overlap. The table assigns one CSI oil to each role, with its tester price, production price and the oil cost it puts into a 200 g jar and a 50 g mini at 8%. Mini fill is illustrative.
| Role | Oil | Profile | 15 g | 100 g | Oil per 200 g jar | Oil per 50 g mini |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Signature | Bergamot Amber | Citrus-amber | ₹105.02 | ₹560.00 | ₹89.60 | ₹22.40 |
| Indian floral | Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) | White floral | ₹130.00 | ₹700.00 | ₹112.00 | ₹28.00 |
| Woody-spice | Saffron Cedarwood | Saffron, cedar | ₹103.84 | ₹696.20 | ₹111.39 | ₹27.85 |
| Deep / evening | Dark Vanilla Oud | Oud gourmand | ₹105.02 | ₹590.00 | ₹94.40 | ₹23.60 |
| Fresh | Verbena | Fresh herbal-citrus | ₹106.20 | ₹590.00 | ₹94.40 | ₹23.60 |
| Seasonal (festive) | Cinnamon Vanilla | Spiced gourmand | ₹106.20 | ₹483.80 | ₹77.41 | ₹19.35 |
Each choice has a reason. Bergamot Amber is near the top of the collection's best-selling sort and sits in the middle of the character range, which suits a signature: approachable, but not plain. Raat Ki Rani gives the range an unmistakably Indian floral voice, useful for gifting. Saffron Cedarwood adds warmth without the weight of oud. Dark Vanilla Oud is the evening scent, and at ₹5.90 a gram at 100 g it costs less than the premium ouds. Verbena keeps the range from being all heavy notes. Cinnamon Vanilla is the festive seasonal for Diwali and the November–February wedding season, and can rotate out in summer.
| Oil | Profile | 15 g | 100 g | Oil per 200 g jar | Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Palo Santo | Resinous-woody | ₹106.20 | ₹601.80 | ₹96.29 | Could replace Saffron Cedarwood |
| Solar Bloom | Bright floral | ₹125.00 | ₹749.00 | ₹119.84 | Could replace Verbena as the light scent |
| Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon | Spa floral | ₹133.00 | ₹799.00 | ₹127.84 | Could replace Raat Ki Rani for a spa-led range |
How many scents to launch
More scents feel generous, but each one splits your sales, your oil orders and your testing. The table shows how the maths changes with range size for a launch of 10 jars per scent at 8% in a 200 g jar, with testers priced at a typical ₹105.02 each.
| Range | Tester cost | Stock lines | Jars at launch | Oil at launch | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 scents | ₹315.06 | 3 | 30 | 480 g | Tight, easy to explain |
| 6 scents | ₹630.12 | 6 | 60 | 960 g | A full collection |
| 9 scents | ₹945.18 | 9 | 90 | 1440 g | Needs strong sales per scent |
| 12 scents | ₹1,260.24 | 12 | 120 | 1920 g | Hard to keep in stock |
Six is the sweet spot for most small luxury brands: enough breadth for a gift buyer, few enough that each scent sells regularly. Three works well for a first launch or a single-format brand. Twelve is how a range quietly fills with slow scents that tie up oil and jars. The container candle hub makes the same case for everyday ranges.
Formats: the jar and the mini
Most luxury container collections pair a full-size jar with a small format: a trio of minis, a travel tin or a single sampler. The Golden Mini Glass Jars suit a luxury trio at ₹129.80 for 5 (₹25.96 each); on the pull date the 25-pack is ₹1,180.00 (₹47.20 each), so the 5-pack is the cheaper way to buy them per jar. Their fill weight is not published; this page uses 50 g. The Golden Aluminium Tin (85 g fill, ₹360.00 for 12) is an alternative with a published fill.
| Oil | 200 g White Matte jar | 50 g golden mini | One jar + two minis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bergamot Amber | ₹276.52 | ₹81.81 | ₹440.14 |
| Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) | ₹298.92 | ₹87.41 | ₹473.74 |
| Saffron Cedarwood | ₹298.31 | ₹87.26 | ₹472.83 |
| Dark Vanilla Oud | ₹281.32 | ₹83.01 | ₹447.34 |
| Verbena | ₹281.32 | ₹83.01 | ₹447.34 |
| Cinnamon Vanilla | ₹264.32 | ₹78.77 | ₹421.86 |
Material cost covers oil, wax, wick and container; it excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The mini is where the container dominates: at 50 g, the jar and wick cost more than the oil for every scent in the range. That is fine — a mini is a sampler and a gift, not the profit centre — but price it knowing the container is most of its cost. Premium oils for luxury jar candles breaks the full cost stack down further.
Building and testing the range
The sequence below gets you from roles to a launch-ready range with every scent tested in the formats you will sell.
Saffron Cedarwood shows why the last step matters. Its per-gram price is unusual: the 500 g is the cheapest way to buy it, cheaper per gram than the 1 kg.
| Pack | Price | Per gram | 200 g jars at 8% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 g | ₹105.02 | ₹7.00 | 0.94 |
| 50 g | ₹280.00 | ₹5.60 | 3.12 |
| 100 g | ₹560.00 | ₹5.60 | 6.25 |
| 500 g | ₹2,718.00 | ₹5.44 | 31.25 |
| 1 kg | ₹5,437.00 | ₹5.44 | 62.50 |
| Pack | Price | Per gram | 200 g jars at 8% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 g | ₹130.00 | ₹8.67 | 0.94 |
| 50 g | ₹370.00 | ₹7.40 | 3.12 |

| 100 g | ₹696.20 | ₹6.96 | 6.25 |

| 1 kg | ₹6,867.60 | ₹6.87 | 62.50 |
The launch, priced
The launch plan is 10 White Matte jars and 5 golden minis per scent: 60 jars and 30 minis, enough for a launch event, a few stockists and online sales. Each scent needs 180 g of oil (160 g for the jars, 20 g for the minis), or 187.2 g with a 4% allowance, so two 100 g bottles per scent cover it. Wax is 12.42 kg, 12.92 kg with the allowance, so 15 kg. The allowance sits inside the working assumption of 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns.
| Item | Pack | Price | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bergamot Amber | 2 × 100 g | ₹1,120.00 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) | 2 × 100 g | ₹1,400.00 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Saffron Cedarwood | 2 × 100 g | ₹1,392.40 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Dark Vanilla Oud | 2 × 100 g | ₹1,180.00 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Verbena | 2 × 100 g | ₹1,180.00 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Cinnamon Vanilla | 2 × 100 g | ₹967.60 | 10 jars + 5 minis (180 g) |
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | 3 × 5 kg | ₹8,985.00 | 12.92 kg with allowance |
| White Matte Glass Jar | 12 × 5 | ₹4,248.00 | 60 jars |
| Mini Glass Jars, Golden | 6 × 5 | ₹778.80 | 30 minis |
| Eco Candle Wicks, Thin C1 | 100 | ₹590.00 | 90 candles plus wick tests |
| Total | ₹21,841.80 | 90 candles, before freight and GST |
That is ₹242.69 per candle across the launch on average, jars and minis together, before labour, packaging and GST. The 5 kg bags of Chunks are ₹599.00 a kilo, the same as the 1 kg; three of them are ₹9.00 cheaper than a 10 kg and a 5 kg bag together. If you would rather use CSI 464 (up to 10%, ₹507.40 a kilo), the wax line falls, but re-test the wick first.
Once the collection is live, sales will reshape it. The seasonal slot rotates; the weakest role gets a new audition; the signature stays. CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A supplier's collection guide could list every oil we sell. This one recommends launching six, names one oil per role with a reason, keeps alternates in reserve, and points out where our own pricing (Saffron Cedarwood's 500 g, the golden mini 25-pack) makes the smaller pack the better buy.
Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Golden Mini Glass Jar and Golden Aluminium Tin prices were pulled on 24–25 September 2026; White Matte jar and Eco Candle Wick prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Every per-candle figure and launch total is arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals.
The six roles and their placement on the character map are editorial judgements, not measurements. The 200 g jar and 50 g mini fills are illustrative. No throw measurements exist for any oil in this data; every scent needs its own burn test. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and CSI 464 up to 10% — the wax maker's stated maximums.
