CSI Wick Buying · 7.5 cm Jars
The jar's width decides which wicks go in the order; the 200 g decides how much wax and oil the ladder eats and how many evenings it burns. At 7.5 cm the wick order is the same at 150 g and 200 g.
+45%
more burn hours to approve a 200 g candle than a 150 g one in the same 7.5 cm jar, same nine wicks · worked example, CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I choose my wick by jar diameter or by candle weight? By diameter. The width of the pool decides which wicks belong in your ladder; for a 7.5 cm jar with CSI wicks that is Eco C1, Eco C2 and Cotton Braided, three candles each. Fill weight does not change that list.

Then what does the 200 g change? How much you buy and how long the test takes. At 8%, nine 200 g candles need 144 g of oil and 1,656 g of wax, against 108 g and 1,242 g at 150 g, and about 45% more burn hours to reach the bottom, because the stop zone is the same in both.

What is the wick order? C1 20-pack (₹118.00; the 10-pack is out of stock), C2 10 (₹94.40), Cotton Braided 10 (₹120.00): ₹332.40, identical at 150 g and 200 g. The 200 g ladder costs ₹389.80 more in cash, all of it oil and wax.

Does a heavier candle need a bigger wick? Not because of the grams. A taller fill in the same width burns for more sessions, which is why it must be approved through its full life; it is not a reason to buy a larger rung.
The short answer
The split rule: diameter decides WHICH wicks you buy; fill weight decides HOW MUCH wax and oil the ladder needs and how many burn days it takes.
Wicks (either fill): C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹332.40, three candles per rung; C2 is our judgement of the centre.
Ladder at 200 g: 144 g British Rose + 1,656 g CSI 464, ₹1,415.04 of materials (excl. jars); cash with a re-pour reserve ₹2,527.60 vs ₹2,137.80 at 150 g.
The honest limit: 7.5 cm is your jar. CSI's only 7.5 cm glass listings are two bamboo-lid jars that give a width, not an inside diameter, and both are out of stock on 1 October 2026.
Same jar, same wicks: the fill weight changes everything else Elevations to scale (2.0 px per mm) at a 7.5 cm INSIDE diameter, your jar, not a CSI listing. Fill depth uses the rule of thumb wax = 0.88 × water weight; confirm with a weighed pour. Bars: nine candles at 8% British Rose in CSI 464, CSI prices 1 October 2026. 150 g fill 12 g oil + 138 g wax about 3.9 cm of wax 200 g fill 16 g oil + 184 g wax about 5.1 cm of wax ~1 cm stop same, 39 g 7.5 cm inside: 44.18 cm² pool same 44.18 cm² pool Wick order for either fill: C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹332.40 The pool is the same width, so the same three rungs are bought. Only the grams and the burn days move. British Rose, nine candles 150 g: 108 g 200 g: 144 g CSI 464, nine candles 150 g: 1,242 g 200 g: 1,656 g Materials consumed (excl. jars) 150 g: ₹1,081.79 200 g: ₹1,415.04 4-hour sessions to ~1 cm (worked ex.) 150 g: 5 200 g: 7 Weight +33.3%; burnable wax +45%. Sessions assume a worked-example 6 g per hour: measure yours after burn 1. Costs exclude jars, labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Two candles in the same 7.5 cm inside jar, to scale. The 200 g fill stands about 1.29 cm taller on our rule-of-thumb depth, but its pool is the same 44.18 cm², so the same three rungs are bought. What moves is on the right: a third more oil and wax for the same nine candles, and more burn sessions, because both candles stop at the same ~1 cm line.
Straight answer
I have a 7.5 cm diameter jar and 200 g fill weight. Should I choose my wick based on jar diameter or candle weight?
Diameter chooses the wicks; weight sizes everything else. A wick has to melt the surface of the candle, and the surface is set by the inside width of the jar: 44.18 cm² at 7.5 cm inside, whether you pour 150 g or 200 g. So the wick order for a 7.5 cm jar is the same at both weights: Eco C1 (20-pack, ₹118.00), Eco C2 (10-pack, ₹94.40) and Cotton Braided (10-pack, ₹120.00), three candles each, ₹332.40, with C2 as our judgement of the centre. What the 200 g changes is the rest of the order and the calendar: nine candles need 144 g of British Rose and 1,656 g of CSI 464 instead of 108 g and 1,242 g, the materials rise from ₹1,081.79 to ₹1,415.04, and because both fills stop at the same ~1 cm line, the heavier candle has about 45% more wax to burn through before you can approve it. Buy by diameter, budget by weight, and approve on the full life of the weight you will sell.
One line: the jar's width writes the wick list; the fill weight writes the wax bill and the burn calendar.
The wick order, at any fill: Eco C1 20-pack (₹118.00; the 10-pack is out of stock on 1 October 2026), Eco C2 10-pack (₹94.40) and Cotton Braided 10-pack (₹120.00). For the 200 g ladder add CSI 464 2 kg + 500 g (₹1,274.80) and British Rose 2 × 100 g (₹684.40). All in stock on 1 October 2026.
Eco C1/C2 — from ₹94.40

The split rule, in one table

Two numbers on your jar. One belongs to the wick, the other to the wax bag.

The question mixes two measurements that do different jobs in a purchase. The diameter is a surface: it decides how much wax has to melt across, so it decides which wicks are worth buying. The fill weight is a quantity: it decides how many grams each test candle eats and how many hours it burns. Keep them apart and the order writes itself.

What each measurement decides in the order · 7.5 cm jar
Diameter → which wicks · fill weight → grams, rupees and days · worked example: nine candles at 8% British Rose in CSI 464

Wicks consumed Diameter 9 = ₹82.02 9 = ₹82.02 No
Oil per candle / ladder Weight 12 g / 108 g 16 g / 144 g +33.3%
Wax per candle / ladder Weight 138 g / 1,242 g 184 g / 1,656 g +33.3%
Materials consumed (excl. jars) Weight ₹1,081.79 ₹1,415.04 +30.8%
Burnable wax before the ~1 cm stop Weight and diameter 111 g 161 g +45%
4-hour sessions to the stop (worked example, 6 g/h) Weight 5 7 +2

The weight moves the wax and oil by exactly 33.3%, but the burn by 45%. That gap is the useful part: the ~1 cm left at the stop is the same 39 g of wax in both candles (same width, rule-of-thumb density), so the extra 50 g is all burnable. The heavier candle is not just a bigger version of the light one; it is the light one with an extra 1.29 cm on top that must also pass.

Where this rule comes from
The physics of why two jars holding the same weight can need different wicks (tall and narrow versus short and wide) is in the tall-narrow versus short-wide post; the table of weight change against pool-area change for several jar pairs is in the 200 g to 300 g post. This page uses the rule only to write an order.

Diameter: which wicks go in the order

7.5 cm sits between two cases we have already costed. The ladder sits between them too.

Pool area is π × r² on the inside diameter: geometry, not a burn prediction. A 7.5 cm inside diameter gives 44.18 cm², 14.8% more than 7.0 cm (38.48 cm²) and 12.1% less than 8.0 cm (50.27 cm²). In the 7 cm post our judgement puts the centre at C1–C2; in the 8 cm hub, at C2–Cotton Braided. At 7.5 cm we put it at C2, with C1 as the documented fail below and Cotton Braided, whose page describes it for candles "exceeding 8 cm", as the fail above. All three tabbed rungs, three candles each: judgement, not a verdict.

Which 7.5 cm? · the reading changes the pool, not the order
π r² on inside diameter · 0.35 cm wall assumed where 7.5 cm is the outside · all figures declared
If 7.5 cm is Inside diameter Pool area Rungs to buy
Measured inside 7.5 cm 44.18 cm² C1 · C2 · Cotton Braided; centre C2 (judgement)
The outside (wall 0.35 cm) 6.8 cm 36.32 cm² The same three; the centre may slide towards C1

Either way you buy the same three packs, which is the point of a three-rung range: an uncertain reading shifts where you expect the answer, not what you order. It still matters for the calendar: a very rough rule of thumb of about one hour per 2.5 cm of width puts a full first pool at about 3.0 hours, so plan sessions of at least three hours. Measuring inside versus outside is the external versus internal diameter post.

Honest about the jar: CSI lists no container with a stated 7.5 cm inside diameter. The only glass listings that give a 7.5 cm figure are the Glass Jar With Bamboo Lid and the Amber Glass Jar with Bamboo Lid ("H: 8.5 cm x W:7.5 cm", "Fill Weight200 gm"), where "W" is a width, not an inside diameter, and both are out of stock on 1 October 2026, so we cannot sell you one today. The Cute Ceramic Candle Container ("diameter of 7.5 cm", 130 g) is out of stock too. The one in-stock listing with a 7.5 cm figure is a metal tin: the large Tin Container's text says "7.5 cm x 5 cm" without saying which figure is the diameter, and it is sold as "135 gram (Pack of 12)" (₹1,161.12) while its description calls it a 200g tin. Different material, different wall, unconfirmed size: not your jar. Ask us about restock and inside measurements before you plan around any of them.
Mistake: moving up a rung because the candle got heavier ("200 g needs the thick wick"). Why it fails: the extra grams sit on top of the same surface; they add sessions, not width. A bigger wick bought for weight can run hot in the final third, where both fills end in the same zone near the base. Fix: keep the diameter's ladder, and let the full life of the 200 g candle decide. Argued against our own interest: that means no extra pack of the bigger wick "just in case".

Weight: the ladder bill at 150 g and 200 g

Same nine wicks. A third more of everything that goes around them.

Load is a percentage of total candle weight, CSI's convention: 150 g at 8% is 12 g of oil + 138 g of wax; 200 g at 8% is 16 g + 184 g. British Rose's listing states "candles (up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin)"; CSI 464's page "Fragrance Load Up to 10%". 8% is inside both, and 8.70% of wax weight is inside 10% on either reading of the wax ceiling.

Centering devices 2 packs, ₹236.00 2 packs, ₹236.00
Cash (excl. jars) ₹2,137.80 ₹2,527.60 (+₹389.80)

Look at where the extra money goes: every rupee of the ₹389.80 is oil and wax; not one is wick. The re-pour reserve is the trap in a weight change. Bottles that cover a 150 g re-pour do not cover a 200 g one: 100 g + 50 g of British Rose leaves 6 g after nine 200 g candles, not the 48 g a re-pour needs, and two 1 kg bags leave 344 g of wax, not 552 g. If you size the 200 g order from a 150 g habit, the first split result costs you a second delivery.

Don't buy the cheapest bottle fit for the lighter fill either: for 150 g, 100 g + 15 g (₹436.60) covers nine candles with only 7 g left. The extra ₹118.00 for the 50 g bottle is what makes a re-pour possible without reordering. And don't jump to the 500 g (₹1,593.00) for a ladder: it is cheaper per gram (₹3.19 against ₹3.42), but it leaves 356 g of a rose you have not yet approved in this jar. Argued against our own interest: buy it after the ladder, not with it.
1
Measure the width, weigh the fillInside diameter of three jars at the rim, middle and near the base (that picks the rungs); then a weighed test pour to your fill line (that sets the grams). Rules of thumb put wax at roughly 0.86–0.9 times the water weight; the scale settles it.
2

4
Pour nine from one pot1,656 g of wax and 144 g of oil, mixed once, poured at CSI 464's stated 80–90°C unless your jar states a lower hot-pour limit (the lower figure governs). Centre every wick.
5
Weigh before and after burn 1That gives your own grams per hour, which replaces our worked-example 6 g and sets the real calendar.
6
Screen at burn 3, approve at the bottomDrop rungs that fail low or high; burn all three candles of the leader to about 1 cm left, judging the final third by eye (flame height, pool depth, soot, flame-to-glass distance), never by touching the glass.

Weight: burn hours and test days

The extra 50 g does not arrive at burn 1. It arrives as two more evenings of watching.

Fill weight sets how long the approval takes, because a wick is approved only when all three candles of the leading rung have burned to the end (about 1 cm left is common practice) without failing. The sessions below use a worked-example burn rate of 6 g an hour; measure your own grams per hour on burn 1 by weighing before and after, as in the full-life calendar post, and redo the arithmetic.

Full-life budget · 7.5 cm inside · worked example
Stop at ~1 cm = 39 g left (rule-of-thumb 0.88 g per ml) · 6 g per hour (your figure replaces it) · 4-hour sessions · one session per candle per day

Burn hours per candle 18.5 26.9
4-hour sessions (rounded up) 5 7
Supervised hours, all nine burning in parallel 20 28
Burn days after cure (one session a day) 5 7

Two more burn days for the same nine wicks: that is the whole wick-related cost of the heavier candle, and it is paid in time, not rupees. It matters when there is a date: Christmas is 25 December 2026, 85 days from 1 October 2026, ample for either fill if you start now; a 200 g ladder poured late in the season has less slack for a re-pour. Do not shorten sessions to save days. A two-hour burn on a 7.5 cm candle can hide a tunnel that a three- or four-hour customer burn would reveal. How far down a test candle has to go before it counts is the acceptance-depth post.

One wick, one weight, one approval
Approve the configuration you will sell: 7.5 cm, CSI 464, British Rose at 8%, 200 g. A 150 g approval in the same jar does not cover the 200 g candle's top 1.29 cm; a 200 g approval mostly covers the 150 g zone, but see the next section before you rely on it.

Selling 150 g and 200 g in the same jar

The lighter candle lives inside the heavier one. Almost.

Many makers pour two weights in one jar: a 150 g "standard" and a 200 g "large", or a lower fill for a lid that sits deeper. Diameter is the same, so the rungs are the same; the question is how many extra wicks the second weight costs. Approve on the heavier fill first: its full life passes through the whole zone the 150 g candle burns in. Then run a short confirmation of the winner at 150 g, three candles, because the lighter candle starts lower in the jar with more glass above its pool, which tends to change early burns (a tendency, not a rule).

How many C2 to buy · by plan
C2 is the likely centre (judgement) · three candles per set · C2 is flat at ₹9.44 per wick in every pack
Plan C2 needed Pack Spare
Ladder at 200 g only 3 10-pack, ₹94.40 7
Ladder + one re-pour 6 10-pack 4
Ladder + re-pour + 150 g confirmation 9 10-pack 1
Ladder + a re-pour at each fill + confirmation 12 20-pack, ₹188.80 (= two 10-packs, ₹188.80) 8

So the C2 10-pack covers everything up to a second fill weight and a re-pour. The 20-pack becomes the right buy only at the last line, and even then it is the same ₹9.44 per wick, the same price as two 10-packs. The 150 g confirmation adds 36 g of oil and 414 g of wax, which the 200 g ladder's re-pour reserve (56 g of oil, 844 g of wax) already covers if no re-pour was needed. A jar change at the same weight is a different problem: the same-capacity new-jar post; a heavy glass base at 200 g is the heavy-base full-life post.

Scaling to production: wicks by count, wax and oil by weight

After approval, the split rule keeps working: one line scales with candles, the other with grams.

Wicks to buy = candles × wicks per candle × (1 + allowance), the formula from the hub; the fill weight is not in it. Oil and wax = candles × grams per candle, which is all fill weight. With a worked-example 160 candles a month and a 5% allowance, here is the same month at both weights.

Production month · worked example: 160 candles in a 7.5 cm jar, C2 approved

Oil reorder point (same lead and safety) 1,088 g (64 g a day) 1,451 g (85 g a day)

The wick line is word for word the same; the oil and wax lines are a third bigger. Per candle, the wick (₹9.44) is a smaller share of the heavier candle, so a heavier candle never makes a cheaper wick worth hunting for. The 10-day lead time is your figure: CSI dispatches from Pune and publishes no lead times or stock depth; confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before a big run.

Don't buy the big wick pack because the candle is big: a C2 1,000-pack (₹9,440.00) is about six months of this production at ₹9.44 per wick, the same as the 10-pack. The oil is where bulk prices change: British Rose falls from ₹3.42 a gram at 100 g to ₹3.07 at 1 kg. Put the cash into the line that rewards it. Per-SKU reorder points across several wicks are the 500-candles-a-month reorder post.

What to buy for a 7.5 cm, 200 g ladder

Five items for a 7.5 cm ladder at 200 g, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 1 October 2026; nothing is ranked on burn results, because CSI publishes none. Oil candle counts are shown at 12 g (150 g) and 16 g (200 g) per candle.

wick · the rung above
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
The top tabbed rung. The page says "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", so at 7.5 cm we expect it to fail high, which is what closes the bracket above C2. Page dimension: "Height of the wick is 10.16 cm", comfortably taller than a 200 g fill of about 5.14 cm on our rule-of-thumb depth; check yours. Limitation: no width or braid count stated, and no larger single tabbed wick above it at CSI.

fragrance oil · rose · the worked example's oil
British Rose Fragrance Oil
A mid-weight floral, so the ladder reads the jar rather than a heavy oil. The listing describes "fresh, dewy rose petals with subtle green undertones and a soft floral finish" and states "candles (up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin)"; 8% is inside that and inside CSI 464's 10%. The description text we captured for this listing is styling code only, so we quote just its load line and notes; ask on WhatsApp for anything else. Every size is in stock on 1 October 2026. Per gram it falls from ₹6.29 at 15 g to ₹3.07 at 1 kg. The fill weight sets the bottle: 108 g for a 150 g ladder, 144 g for 200 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles (12 g) 200 g candles (16 g)
15 g ₹94.40 ₹6.29 1 none (a sniff sample)

tool · keeps nine wicks centred
Wick Centering Device (Pack of 5)
A wooden bar with a single 4 mm hole (page: "Hole Dia 0,15" (4mm)", for openings "less than 4""), so one bar per single-wick jar. Nine candles poured together need two packs. Off-centre wicks fake a tunnel on one side and waste a whole candle, whatever its weight. Argued against our own interest: if you already own clothes pegs or chopsticks that hold a wick upright, use them.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
Pack of 5 ₹118.00 ₹23.60 five singles; two packs hold all nine ladder wicks at once
₹23.60 a holder, reusable for every ladder. Buy 5 — ₹118.00

Skip for this ladder: Performance Wooden Wicks (₹590.00 for 10): one listing, no widths, a separate cotton-versus-wood test. Steel Wick Holder (₹250.00 for 5): only if a double-wick arm becomes necessary, which a 7.5 cm single-rung ladder does not plan for. Eco Candle Wicks Loose (₹413.00 for 5 m): untabbed, its page targets "2 inch diameters", below this jar.

Christmas is 25 December 2026, 85 days from 1 October 2026. A 200 g ladder poured in early October can finish its full-life burns well before production must start. Once the bracket closes, send us the approved wick, the fill weight and your candle count: we will quote wicks by count and oil and wax by weight, with a GST invoice and a dispatch date.

The CSI principle
Buy wicks by width, buy wax by weight.
At 7.5 cm the wick order is ₹332.40 whether you pour 150 g or 200 g. The heavier candle costs ₹389.80 more in oil and wax and two more burn days, and it must be approved on its own full life.
"Grams tell you how long the wick has to keep going. They never tell you which wick to start with."
— CandleMakingSuppliesIndia
Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wax, wicks and oil named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you not to buy a bigger wick for a heavier candle, that our tabbed wick packs save nothing per wick as they grow, and that our only 7.5 cm glass listings give a width, not an inside diameter, and are out of stock.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 1 October 2026. Stock was checked per size: the Eco C1 10-pack, both bamboo-lid 7.5 cm jars and the Cute Ceramic Candle Container are out of stock on that date and flagged; every other size shown is in stock. Wax, wick and oil wording is quoted from the product pages; where a page is silent in the text we captured, we say so.

The C2 centre, the 0.35 cm wall, the 0.88 wax-to-water rule of thumb, the 6 g-per-hour burn rate, the 4-hour sessions, the 5% allowance, the 160-candle month and the 10-day lead time are our judgement or worked examples; melt-pool times are commonly cited rules of thumb, not CSI data; CSI publishes no wick-performance data. Frequently asked questions

Is candle wick size based on jar diameter or wax weight?
Diameter. The wick has to melt the surface, and the surface is set by the inside width. Weight changes how many grams each test candle needs and how long it burns, not which wicks belong in the ladder.
What wick do I need for a 7.5 cm jar?
No one can name it before you burn it. With CSI wicks, test Eco C1, Eco C2 and Cotton Braided, three candles each (₹332.40); our judgement puts the centre at C2 for soy with a mid-weight floral.
Does a 200 g candle need a bigger wick than a 150 g candle?
Not if the jar is the same width. The 200 g candle is taller, so it burns for more sessions and must be approved through its full life, but the extra grams sit on the same surface.
How much wax do I need to test wicks in 200 g candles?
Nine candles at 8% need 1,656 g of wax and 144 g of oil. With a re-pour reserve, buy 2 kg + 500 g of CSI 464 (₹1,274.80) and two 100 g bottles of British Rose (₹684.40).
How long does a full burn test take for a 200 g candle?
It depends on your burn rate. In our worked example (6 g an hour, a stop at about 1 cm, 4-hour sessions) it is 7 sessions against 5 for a 150 g fill in the same jar. Weigh your candle before and after burn 1 to get your own rate.
Can I use the same wick for 150 g and 200 g candles in the same jar?
Often, but prove it. Approve the wick on the 200 g full life, then confirm it with three 150 g candles. The C2 10-pack covers the ladder, a re-pour and that confirmation.
Your 7.5 cm, 200 g wick order
C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹332.40; the 200 g only changes the wax and oil.
Measure the inside diameter, weigh your fill, pour nine candles at 8%, and approve the wick that survives the full life of the weight you sell. Send us both numbers on WhatsApp and we will check the order before you pay.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: part of CSI's cluster on jar diameter → wick testing (5501–5520): the split rule for a 7.5 cm jar with a 200 g fill — diameter decides which wicks you buy, fill weight decides how much wax and oil the ladder needs and how many burn days it takes — with a side-by-side ladder bill at 150 g and 200 g, a full-life budget, the two-fill case and the production month at both weights. The weight-to-area table and the tall-narrow physics are in other series; we link them.

Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (150 g at 8% = 12 g + 138 g; 200 g = 16 g + 184 g). The 7.5 cm inside diameter, the 0.35 cm wall, the 0.88 wax-to-water ratio (a commonly used 0.86–0.9 rule of thumb), the ~1 cm stop, the 6 g-per-hour burn rate and the 4-hour sessions are labelled assumptions; pool area = π r² on the inside radius. Ceilings are as the pages state (CSI 464 up to 10%, pour 80–90°C; British Rose up to 10% for soy): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. The C2 centre, the 5% allowance, the 160-candle month and the 10-day lead time are editorial judgement and worked examples. Costs exclude jars, labour, freight, packaging and GST. Christmas 25 December 2026 is a calendar fact.
