At a wedding, three hundred candles are seen together. The material choices that matter most are the ones that make every piece look and burn the same.
₹84.04
materials per 70 g scented votive favour in this worked order
Quick answers — read this first
Which candle format is most practical for hundreds of wedding pieces? Container formats: tealights, glass votives or small jars. They pour quickly, need no demoulding and look identical more easily than sculptural mould candles.

Which wax suits wedding votives and tealights? A container soy such as CSI 464, since the glass or cup holds the shape. Sculptural pieces in your own moulds need a harder wax such as CSI Soy Pillar Wax.

Should wedding candles be strongly scented? Table and décor candles in a crowded hall are often better lightly scented or unscented. Favours that guests take home can carry the fragrance.

How do I keep 300 candles identical? One wax purchase, one oil purchase, every pour weighed, one pouring temperature checked with a thermometer, wicks fixed with holders and a retained sample from each batch.
The short answer
Short answer: Use container formats such as glass votives or tealights in CSI 464, one fixed formula, and a six-piece pilot before buying the full order.
Worked order: 300 scented 70 g votives at 6%: 21 kg wax, 1.3 kg Rose oil in total, 310 jars, 310 wicks.
Honest note: CSI lists no dedicated tealight wick and no bubble mould; test small wicks and use your own moulds.

Straight answer
I Want to Make Candles for Indian Weddings — Which Wax, Fragrance and Container Formats Are Practical for Producing Hundreds of Identical Pieces?
For hundreds of identical wedding pieces, choose a container format: aluminium tealight cups, 70 g glass votives or small jars, poured in a container soy such as CSI 464. They pour quickly, need no demoulding and stay uniform far more easily than sculptural mould candles. Keep table candles lightly scented or unscented and put the fragrance into favours. In this worked order, 300 Rose-scented 70 g votives at a suggested 6% need 21 kg of CSI 464, 1 kg plus two 100 g bottles of British Rose after the pilot bottle, 310 votive jars and Eco C1 wicks, at ₹84.04 of materials per favour. Pilot six pieces first, then buy the whole order together.
One line: at wedding volume, sameness is the quality customers notice, so choose the format and formula that make sameness easy.
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram costs ₹318.60 for ten, or ₹31.86 each, and gives every favour the same vessel and the same fill line.

What a wedding order really demands

Guests never see one candle on its own; they see three hundred, and they notice the one that is different.

Wedding work in India often means hundreds of pieces for one event: favours on every seat, votives along the tables, tealights in a mandap or walkway, perhaps a few statement pieces for the stage. The brief is unusual in one way. Uniformity matters more than individuality. A slightly lighter colour, a lower fill line or a wick that leans is invisible on a shelf of mixed candles and obvious in a row of identical ones.

So the raw-material question is not only which wax and which oil, but which combination you can repeat three hundred times without drift. That favours simple container formats, a single fixed formula and buying that keeps every input from one purchase.

Formats that work at wedding volume

Formats
Practicality for hundreds of identical pieces
Format CSI container and unit price Wax Practical notes
Tealights Aluminium cups: 100 for ₹649.00 = ₹6.49 each; 500 for ₹3,009.00 = ₹6.018 each Container soy Fastest to pour. No dedicated tealight wick is listed; test small wicks yourself.
Big tealights Empty cups: 100 for ₹1,180.00 = ₹11.80 each Container soy Its listing title says about 9 hours of burn; treat that as the listing's figure and test your own.
Glass votives 70 g votive: 10 for ₹318.60 = ₹31.86 each Container soy Good favour size, glass gives a finished look.
200 ml jar Clear salsa with lug cap: ₹29.50 each at 50 or 100 Container soy Larger gift; lid helps transport to the venue.
120 g shiny jar With lid: 5 for ₹236.00 = ₹47.20 each Container soy Coloured glass options; 6 cm diameter on its page.
Sculptural or bubble pieces Your own mould; CSI lists no bubble mould Soy Pillar Wax or a harder blend you test Slowest; every demould is a chance for a flaw. Keep to small numbers.

For volume, tealights and votives win. They need no demoulding, the container hides small surface differences, and the fill line is set by the vessel. Sculptural pieces look spectacular but are slow and each one carries its own risk of a broken edge or a mark from the mould. If the couple wants bubble candles, quote them as a small feature run in your own moulds rather than as the main order.

Whichever container you choose, weigh your own fill before quoting. The votive jar is listed as 70 gram, but CSI publishes no fill weight for its tealight cups, so pour a few, let them set and weigh them. Your quantities, your costs and the burn behaviour all depend on that one measured figure, and at three hundred pieces a few grams per piece becomes several kilograms of wax.

Wax and fragrance for a room full of candles

Wax. In glass and aluminium cups, the container holds the shape, so a container soy is the natural choice. CSI 464 is single-pour, has a stated load of up to 10% and costs the same per kg at every pack. Freestanding pieces need a wax made for moulds, such as CSI Soy Pillar Wax, or your own tested blend.

Fragrance level. Dozens of scented candles burning in one hall can overwhelm guests and compete with food and flowers. As a suggested approach, keep table and décor candles lightly scented or unscented and let the favours, which guests take home and burn one at a time, carry a fuller fragrance. A suggested starting load for a 70 g favour is 6%, tested against 8%.

Which oils. Wedding briefs lean towards florals. British Rose and Jasmine both state 0% vanillin, which keeps light wax light, and up to 10% in soy. Gardenia, listed as Gardenia Tuberose, states 8 to 10% for luxury jars but has a flashpoint of 98°C, and its page says to add it below 98°C. Neroli's published flashpoint is 85°C. With low-flashpoint oils, temperature control matters on every one of three hundred pours. If the brief is warmer, Woody Oud and Dark Vanilla Oud suit evening functions, but test any vanillin-containing oil for colour.

Worked order: 300 rose votive favours

A 70 g votive at a suggested 6% is 65.8 g of wax and 4.2 g of oil. The pilot is six votives, three each of British Rose and Jasmine, all with Eco C1, the thinner of the two Eco options. Three hundred favours then need 300 × 65.8 g = 19,740 g of wax and 300 × 4.2 g = 1,260 g of oil. The pilot adds 6 × 65.8 g = 394.8 g of wax.

Wax. 19,740 + 394.8 = 20,134.8 g. Two 10 kg packs and a 1 kg pack of CSI 464 at ₹10,148.00 + ₹507.40 = ₹10,655.40 give 21 kg and leave 865.2 g, about 13 spare votives for breakage or a late request.

Oil. The pilot uses 12.6 g from a 100 g Rose bottle, leaving 87.4 g. The order needs 1,260 g, so buy at least 1,172.6 g more. A 1 kg bottle plus two 100 g bottles, at ₹3,068.00 + 2 × ₹342.20 = ₹3,752.40, gives 1,287.4 g in all and leaves 27.4 g. A 1 kg plus a 500 g bottle would cost ₹4,661.00 and leave over 300 g unused, so the smaller combination is better here.

Jars. 306 votives including the pilot means 31 packs of 10 at 31 × ₹318.60 = ₹9,876.60, giving 310 jars and four spares.

Wicks and fixing. A 20-pack of Eco C1 at ₹118.00 covers the pilot and leaves 14. The remaining 286 can be bought as 100 + 100 + 50 + 20 + 20 = 290 for ₹590.00 + ₹590.00 + ₹295.00 + ₹118.00 + ₹118.00 = ₹1,711.00, because Eco C1 costs ₹5.90 each in every pack. Wick stickers for 306 wicks need eight sheets at 8 × ₹100.00 = ₹800.00, and bamboo wick holders at ₹118.00 per set of five keep each wick centred while it sets.

Keeping three hundred pieces identical

1
Buy the order's wax and oil together. One purchase reduces the chance of mixing materials bought weeks apart. Ask CSI on WhatsApp about the quantity before you confirm the date to the client.
2
Weigh every pour.Use the scale for every votive, not a visual fill line. The Weighing Scale's capacity is not published, so check that yours suits the containers you weigh.
3
Hold one pouring temperature.Check every batch with a thermometer. If you use the 10 kg Electric Wax Melter, its page states a ±10°C display deviation, so never trust the display alone.
4
Fix and centre every wick the same way.Stickers and holders on every piece, set before the pour.
5
Keep a retained sample from each batch.Line them up before packing. Any batch that looks different is caught in your workshop, not on the wedding table.
If colour is part of the theme. Dye the whole order from one measured mix, weighed on the scale, and pour a colour pilot first. Dye also affects the burn, so the wick test belongs after the colour is fixed, not before.

Buy this to test: CSI 464 1 kg ₹507.40, 100 g each of British Rose ₹342.20 and Jasmine ₹430.00, one pack of ten votives ₹318.60 and 20 Eco C1 ₹118.00. Buy this once the pilot passes: the remaining wax, oil, jars and wicks above, in one order, with packaging from your own suppliers. Never leave burning pilots unattended, and stop any that smoke or flare.

Fewer formats make better weddings.
We sell dozens of containers and moulds, but a wedding order of three hundred pieces goes best in one or two formats you can repeat perfectly. Variety is for your shop, not the seating plan.
At a wedding, sameness is the quality everyone notices.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and production equipment, not finished candles. This guide separates general candle-making practice from what CSI's own product pages state, says plainly where CSI publishes no figure (wick sizes, burn times, hardness), and labels every wick, load, test count or margin as a starting point for your own validation.

Prices are live CSI prices from October 2026; product pages are authoritative. Where a spec is not published — such as a wick size for your jar, a mould's cycle life or a wax's survival temperature — this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Frequently asked questions

what candles are best for Indian weddings in bulk
Container formats such as tealights, 70 g glass votives and small jars, poured in container soy. They are quick to pour, need no demoulding and stay uniform. Sculptural pieces suit small feature runs rather than hundreds.
how much wax for 300 votive candles
A 70 g votive at a suggested 6% load holds 65.8 g of wax, so 300 need 19,740 g. Add a pilot batch and a small spare; this example buys 21 kg of CSI 464.
should wedding table candles be scented
Many scented candles in one hall can overwhelm guests and clash with food and flowers. A common approach is lightly scented or unscented table candles and fuller fragrance in favours guests take home.
which fragrance is good for wedding favour candles
Florals suit most wedding briefs. British Rose and Jasmine state 0% vanillin and up to 10% in soy. Gardenia has a 98°C flashpoint, so add it below that. Pilot any oil before ordering the full quantity.
does CSI sell tealight wicks
CSI does not list a dedicated tealight wick. It sells empty aluminium tealight cups and big tealight cups. Test small wicks such as Eco C1 in your cup with your wax and oil before quoting a tealight order.
can I make bubble candles for a wedding from CSI
CSI does not list bubble moulds, so you would use your own. CSI can supply the wax, wicks, dye and oil. Keep bubble pieces to a small feature run, because demoulding is slow and each piece can carry a flaw.

Assumptions: Fragrance load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g = 184 g wax + 16 g oil at 8%); CSI wax pages phrase their ceilings as a share of wax weight. Material cost per candle covers wax, oil, vessel, wick and dye only — it excludes packaging, labels, labour, shipping and GST. CSI publishes no wick sizing chart, burn times or wax survival temperatures, so every wick named is a candidate to test.
