Two suppliers, one test: same jar, same oil, same wick, same load, both waxes. Here is the protocol and what to score.
What to agree
| Term | What it covers | How |
|---|---|---|
| Same wax every month | Continuity of the named product | Ask |
| Notice of changes | Before any formulation or source change | Ask in writing |
| Batch variation | What to do if a bag behaves differently | Agree up front |
| Stock depth | Can they cover your monthly kg? | Ask on WhatsApp |
| Price stability | How often prices change | Save each order's price |
| Paperwork | GST invoice | Standard |
Make the two-supplier test fair to both waxes
You have two suppliers and want a winner. The protocol keeps the jar, oil, wick and load the same. There is one thing it should not keep the same, and getting it wrong can hand the win to the wrong wax.
Pour each wax at its own stated temperature
Different waxes are designed around different temperatures. CSI 468, for example, states a pour range of 58–60°C and a melt point of 50–53°C. Another wax may state something quite different. If you pour both at one temperature, you are testing which wax tolerates your temperature, not which wax is better. Follow each supplier's own instructions for fragrance addition and pour, and write down what you did for each.
Hide the labels from yourself
Mark the base of each jar with a code, not a supplier name, and have someone else keep the key. You will already have a favourite, whether it is the cheaper one or the one with nicer packaging, and you will see what you expect to see. Scoring blind removes that.
Pour enough to see a pattern
One candle per wax tells you almost nothing. A 1 kg bag gives five candles of 200 g at 8%, so a bag from each supplier gives you five pairs. Burn three from each and keep the rest as reference candles. If one wax wins all three pairings, you have a result. If it wins two of three, treat it as close, and let price or service decide.
Price the winner at the pack you would buy
Once one wax wins, compare cost on the bag you will actually order, not the test bag. On CSI 464 that makes no difference, since ₹507.40 per kilogram holds at every size. On CSI 468 it does: ₹650.00 per kilogram in the test bag, ₹637.00 from 5 kg. Add each supplier's delivery charge per kilogram before you decide.
Where this page fits
This page overlaps an older CSI guide, so it takes a narrower job and leaves the rest to that guide.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
