a ₹590.00 sample as a share of 25 kg of Dark Vanilla Oud at ₹142,275.00
Quick answers — read this first
Should I test a new oil in my bestselling wax and wick first? Yes. It is where the oil will be used most and where failure costs most, and keeping wax, jar and wick unchanged isolates the oil's effect.

How much does 25 kg of Dark Vanilla Oud cost from CSI? No pack above 1 kg is listed: 25 × ₹5,691.00 = ₹142,275.00 at the 1 kg price, or ask for a WhatsApp quote. No bulk discount is published.

How long should the ageing test run? At least as long as the 25 kg will take to use plus the time finished candles sit before sale. Your own sales rate sets that.

Is there a step between sample and 25 kg? Yes. A 1 kg pilot batch makes 62 candles of 200 g at 8% and tests the oil at production scale.
The short answer
Rule: Validate a new oil in the bestseller's exact wax, jar, wick and load so the only variable is the oil.
Cover: 25 kg at 16 g per candle makes 1,562 candles; at an example 400 a month that is 3.9 months.
Cost: A 100 g Dark Vanilla Oud sample at ₹590.00 is about 0.41% of a ₹142,275.00 25 kg spend.

Straight answer
Should I Validate a New Fragrance Oil in My Highest-Selling Wax and Wick Combination Before Purchasing 25 Kg?
Yes. Validate the new oil in your highest-selling wax, jar and wick at your standard load, changing nothing but the oil. In the example — CSI 464, 200 ml matte jar, Eco C1, 8% — a ₹590.00 sample of Dark Vanilla Oud makes six candles; compare them blind against your current oil for cold throw, hot throw, burn and colour, and keep some lidded for real-time ageing. If they pass, run a 1 kg pilot of 62 candles. Order 25 kg (25 × ₹5,691.00 = ₹142,275.00 at the listed price) only when the ageing record covers the months the oil will take to use plus the time candles sit before sale.
One line: prove a new oil in your bestseller system and age it for as long as 25 kg will last before you buy 25 kg.
Dark Vanilla Oud has vanilla in its top notes — check wax colour as well as throw in your bestseller jar.

Yes — validate in the system that earns your money

A new oil that shines in a test jar has proved nothing until it has burned, cured and aged in your bestseller's exact wax, wick and jar.

Your highest-selling wax-and-wick combination is the system you understand best and the one where a failure costs most. It is the right place to validate a new fragrance oil before a 25 kg commitment, for two reasons. First, the oil will spend most of its life there, so that is where its behaviour matters. Second, keeping everything else identical means any change you see is caused by the oil, not by a new jar or a different wick.

The worked example: the reader's bestseller is a 200 g candle in CSI 464, poured into the 200 ml matte glass jar, with an Eco C1 wick, at 8% fragrance — so 184 g wax and 16 g oil. The new oil under consideration is Dark Vanilla Oud, and the proposal is 25 kg. CSI lists no oil pack above 1 kg, so 25 kg means 25 × ₹5,691.00 = ₹142,275.00 at the listed 1 kg price, or a quote on WhatsApp. No bulk discount is published; do not assume one.

A 100 g sample costs ₹590.00. That is ₹590.00 ÷ ₹142,275.00, about 0.41% of the 25 kg spend, and at 16 g per candle it makes six test candles with a little left over for a strip reference.

What the validation has to prove

A new oil can fail in your bestseller in ways that have nothing to do with how it smells in the bottle. It can need a different wick because it changes how the wax burns. It can colour the wax. It can throw well hot and poorly cold, or the reverse. It can smell right on day three and different on day sixty. The validation is built to catch each of those before 25 kg arrives.

A staged route from 100 g to 25 kg

1
100 g sample — six candles. Pour six identical candles in the bestseller system. Code them. Pour two more with your current bestseller oil the same day as the comparison, plus one unscented control in CSI 464.
2
First assessment. At the page's stated cure minimum, compare cold throw blind; then burn one new-oil candle and one current-oil candle in matched, supervised sessions. Never leave a test burn unattended.
3
Real-time ageing. Keep three new-oil candles lidded in your real packaging at your real storage position. Reassess against freshly poured candles at points you choose — day 30, 60 and 90 are suggested starting points.
4
1 kg pilot. If the six candles pass, buy one 1 kg pack at ₹5,691.00 and run a real production batch: 1,000 ÷ 16 = 62 candles. This tests the oil at production scale and its fit with your process, and gives you sellable stock and retained candles.
5
Decide on 25 kg. Only commit once the pilot has passed and the aged candles cover at least the time the 25 kg will take to use, plus the time finished candles sit before sale.

The first stage, costed at CSI's listed prices, uses nine jars in all: six new-oil candles, two current-oil comparison candles and one unscented control. Wax is 9 × 184 g = 1,656 g, and 1,656 × ₹0.5074 = ₹840.25. Jars are 9 × ₹70.80 = ₹637.20 and wicks 9 × ₹5.90 = ₹53.10. With the ₹590.00 sample, the stage costs ₹840.25 + ₹637.20 + ₹53.10 + ₹590.00 = ₹2,120.55, excluding the current oil you already hold, packaging, labour, shipping and GST.

Add a warm-storage comparison if your stock runs hot

If your warehouse or stockists sit in non-AC premises, add a side-by-side heat check: one new-oil and one current-oil candle held together in a controlled warm room or cabinet with a thermometer, supervised, at a temperature and duration you choose — for example 35°C for 14 days as a starting point. Never use a kitchen oven, a stove or a car boot. The result compares the two oils under stress; it does not predict a shelf life.

How long 25 kg will last — and why that sets the test length

At 16 g per candle, 25 kg makes 25,000 ÷ 16 = 1,562 candles (rounding down). How long that lasts depends on your own sales. If, as an example, this scent sells 400 candles a month, 1,562 ÷ 400 = about 3.9 months of oil. The last of that oil will be poured nearly four months after it arrives, and those candles may then sit with you and with stockists for months more.

Cover
Months of cover for 25 kg at different example sales rates
Example sales of this scent Oil per month Months to use 25 kg
200 candles a month 200 × 16 g = 3,200 g 25,000 ÷ 3,200 = 7.8
400 candles a month 400 × 16 g = 6,400 g 25,000 ÷ 6,400 = 3.9
800 candles a month 800 × 16 g = 12,800 g 25,000 ÷ 12,800 = 2.0

This is why validation includes ageing and not just a first burn. If your aged checks have only reached day 30, you have no evidence for oil poured in month four or candles sold in month eight. CSI's oil pages publish no shelf life or storage conditions for Dark Vanilla Oud or any oil, so before ordering 25 kg, ask on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926) for the IFRA certificate, MSDS and storage guidance for the lot you would receive, and get it in writing. The 60-month shelf life on the CSI 464 page describes the wax, not your fragrance.

A smaller order can be the better buy
If the 200-a-month row describes your sales, 25 kg is nearly eight months of oil. Two 10 kg orders, or monthly 1 kg packs, cost the same per kg at CSI's listed prices and hold less stock while you are still learning how the oil ages.

What about your other wax and wick combinations?

Validating in the bestseller does not validate everything. If the oil will also go into a coconut-soy line or a larger jar with a different wick, each of those is its own system. You can stage it: approve the bestseller first and commit only the quantity that the bestseller will use, then validate the other combinations from the same lot before extending the order.

The broader principle is simple and runs against a quick sale: the size of the order should follow the evidence, not the other way round. Six candles from a ₹590.00 sample, a 62-candle pilot from a ₹5,691.00 pack, and an ageing record that covers the time the oil will really sit — then 25 kg, if the numbers still say so.

Argue against interest
Let the evidence size the order.
Twenty-five kilograms of an oil you have aged for a month is a bet, not a purchase. Buy what your tested period covers and extend it as the record grows.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and production equipment, not finished candles. This guide separates general fragrance-ageing practice from what CSI's own product pages state, says plainly that CSI's oil pages publish no shelf life, storage temperature or ageing data, treats the 60-month shelf life on the CSI 464 and 468 pages as a wax statement only, and labels every test day, cabinet temperature, candle count, reject rate or lead time as a starting point or the reader's own figure.

Prices are live CSI prices from October 2026; product pages are authoritative. No fragrance-oil pack above 1 kg is listed, so larger quantities are shown as multiples of the 1 kg price; ask for a quote rather than assuming a discount.

Frequently asked questions

Why test a new fragrance oil in my bestseller rather than a separate test candle?
Because the bestseller system is where the oil will be used most, and keeping its wax, jar, wick and load unchanged means any difference you see comes from the oil. A generic test candle tells you little about your real product.
How many candles can I make from a 100 g fragrance sample?
At 8% of a 200 g candle you need 16 g of oil per candle, so 100 g makes six candles with a little left for a strip reference. Smaller candles stretch it further.
What if the new fragrance oil needs a different wick?
Then it is not a straight swap. Treat it as a new formulation: run a wick comparison in your jar at your load, re-check burn and throw, and consider whether one system can carry both oils before buying in bulk.
Does Dark Vanilla Oud discolour soy wax?
Its page lists vanilla in the top notes but does not publish a vanillin percentage. Other CSI vanilla-family pages say vanillin can yellow or warm wax. Compare colour against an unscented control in your jar at each test point.
Is it cheaper per kg to buy 25 kg of oil from CSI?
Not at listed prices. No pack above 1 kg is listed, so 25 kg is 25 × 1 kg at the same per-kg price unless a WhatsApp quote says otherwise. Smaller, more frequent orders cost the same per kg and hold less stock.
What documents should I get before ordering 25 kg?
The IFRA certificate and MSDS for the oil and lot, and written storage and shelf-life guidance. CSI's oil pages publish no shelf life, so ask on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926) and keep the reply in writing.
