Three-Scent Candle Gift Set Ideas for Every Indian Festival

The highest-margin format a small candle brand can sell, proved with arithmetic before a single scent is named. Then eleven costed sets — Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Christmas, Valentine's, Mother's Day, Griha Pravesh, weddings, Karwa Chauth, Navratri, Eid and a year-round signature — built from real CSI stock.
₹1,699
typical three-scent set retail · ₹504 in materials · the same wax as one 300g candle that retails at ₹1,199 · CSI live pricing, August 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Why does a three-scent set out-earn one big candle? Same wax, higher price. Three 100g candles and one 300g candle both use 276g of wax and 24g of oil at an 8% load. The single candle is ≈₹460 in materials and realistically retails at ₹1,199. The set is ≈₹504 in materials and retails at ₹1,699 — ₹44 more in materials for ₹500 more in price.

What size should the three candles be? 3 × 100g. Costed on CSI stock, 3 × 50g returns 67.3% material margin, 3 × 100g returns 70.3%, and 3 × 200g returns 65.5% while needing a custom box and a heavier courier.

What does a set cost to make? ₹457–₹546 in materials. The fixed part is ₹373.27 — wax ₹165.60, three wicks ₹17.70, three jars ₹144.00, packaging ₹45.97. Only the oils vary, adding ₹83–₹173.

How much oil for 100 sets? Exactly 800g of each of the three scents, because a set fixes your ratio at 1:1:1. Buy 1kg of each — one kilogram covers 125 candle slots at 8g per 100g candle.
The short answer
Build: three 100g candles at an 8% fragrance load — 8g of oil and 92g of wax each — in one box, with a stated internal logic.
Why: ₹373.27 of fixed cost plus ₹83–₹173 of fragrance produces a set that sells at ₹1,499–₹1,899, against ₹1,199 for one 300g candle made from identical wax.
Then: pick a pattern — the arc, the one-family trio, or the day-parts set — spend properly on the box, and order 1kg of each oil because the set fixes your ratios at 1:1:1.
Building a three-scent set — five decisions, in the order that protects margin 1 — Fix the format: 3 × 100g at 8% load · 24g oil + 276g wax per set 2 — Choose the logic: arc, one family, or day-parts 3 — Cost it: ₹373.27 fixed + ₹83–₹173 of fragrance 4 — Buy the box: ₹45.97 per set, CSI baseline 5 — Lock 1:1:1 · order 1kg of each
Most makers build a gift set backwards: they choose three scents they like, then discover the box costs more than the candles and the price will not stretch. Fix the format and the arithmetic first, and the scent choice becomes the easy part.
Straight answer
What makes a three-scent candle gift set worth building?
A three-scent set is the highest-margin format a small Indian candle brand can sell, and the reason is arithmetic, not aesthetics. Three 100g candles at an 8% fragrance load use exactly the same 276g of wax and 24g of oil as one 300g candle. On CSI stock that wax costs ₹165.60 either way — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹5,999 per 10kg is ₹0.60 per gram. What changes is everything around it. The set needs three Eco Candle Wicks instead of one, three 130g shot glass jars instead of one large jar, and a proper box from packaging materials. That pushes materials from about ₹460 to about ₹504 — ₹44 more. But the single candle realistically retails at ₹1,199 and the three-scent set retails at ₹1,699, because a set solves the giver's decision problem: they no longer have to guess which one scent the recipient likes. ₹44 of extra cost buys ₹500 of extra price, which is roughly ₹456 of extra gross margin on every unit sold. Then the set does two more jobs a single candle cannot: it carries a slow-moving scent alongside a hero, and it fixes your fragrance ratio at 1:1:1 before the season starts, which is the only reliable way to forecast an order.
One line: three 100g candles cost ₹44 more than one 300g candle and sell for ₹500 more — build the set, then choose the scents.
Testing a set before you commit? Buy 100g of each of the three oils — that is 12 sets' worth of each slot, enough for a full sample run and photography. Every CSI oil steps up to 500g and 1kg once the set sells.

Why three beats one: the arithmetic, before the scent ideas

The set is not a marketing idea dressed up as a product. It is a pricing structure, and it works even if the three scents inside it are ordinary.

Hold the wax constant and the comparison becomes honest. Both columns below contain 276g of soy wax and 24g of fragrance oil at an 8% load. The single candle is one 300g pour; the set is three 100g pours of three different scents. Fragrance is priced at Sandalwood 1kg pricing (₹5,027 per kilogram, so ₹5.03 per gram) for the single candle, and at the Diwali trio's blended cost for the set.

Same wax, two products
One 300g candle vs three 100g candles in a box
Line One 300g candle Three 100g candles
Wax (276g @ ₹0.60/g) ₹165.60 ₹165.60
Fragrance (24g total) ₹120.65 (one oil) ₹130.84 (three oils)
Wicks ₹9.44 (1 × Thick C2) ₹17.70 (3 × Thin C1)
Vessels ₹120.00 (1 × 300g borosilicate) ₹144.00 (3 × 130g shot glass)
Packaging ₹44.57 ₹45.97
Materials total ₹460.26 ₹504.11
Realistic Indian retail ₹1,199 ₹1,699
Materials as % of retail 38.4% 29.7%
Gross material margin ₹738.74 ₹1,194.89

₹43.85 of extra cost produces ₹456.15 of extra gross margin. That is the whole case, and it survives every substitution you might make — swap the jars, change the oils, use a cheaper box, and the direction of the result does not move. It holds because the three costs that scale with the number of candles (wick, vessel, sticker) are small relative to the price jump a set commands, while the largest single cost in a candle, the wax, does not scale at all.

Be honest about where the set loses. Per gram of wax held, small vessels are more expensive than large ones. Three 130g shot glass jars at ₹288 per pack of 6 work out to ₹48.00 each, or ₹0.48 per gram of candle. One Amber Shiny Glass Jar at ₹236 per pack of 5 is ₹47.20 for a 200g fill, or ₹0.24 per gram. Glass is the one line where the set is structurally worse. Anyone who tells you a set is cheaper to make per gram is not counting the vessels. It does not matter, because the set is not competing on cost — it is competing on the price a giver will pay for a decision they no longer have to make.

The second reason a set prices higher is that it removes risk from the buyer. A single scented candle is a bet: the giver has to guess whether the recipient likes vanilla, and if they guess wrong the gift fails. A three-scent set converts that bet into a near-certainty — one of the three will land. Gift buyers pay a real premium for that, and it is the same premium that makes sample sets, tasting boxes and variety packs work in every category from tea to whisky.

The format decision: 3 × 50g, 3 × 100g or 3 × 200g?

This is the decision most makers get wrong, usually by going too large because a bigger candle feels more generous. Costed properly, it is not. Here are all three formats at an 8% load, using CSI vessels appropriate to each size and the same Diwali trio of oils.

Format comparison · 8% load · same three oils
Why 3 × 100g is the sweet spot
Format Wax Vessels Oil Materials Retail Margin
3 × 50g 138g · ₹82.80 3 × ₹31.90 votive 12g · ₹65.42 ₹294.15 ₹899 67.3%
3 × 100g 276g · ₹165.60 3 × ₹48.00 shot glass 24g · ₹130.84 ₹504.11 ₹1,699 70.3%
3 × 200g 552g · ₹331.20 3 × ₹47.20 amber jar 48g · ₹261.68 ₹862.05 ₹2,499 65.5%

The 50g set loses because the fixed packaging cost is almost unchanged while the product shrinks — and because a 50g candle burns for a few evenings, which makes the set feel like a sample kit rather than a gift. The 200g set loses at both ends: three 200g jars will not fit CSI's largest stocked 7 × 5 × 4 inch corrugated box, so you commission a custom one, and the finished parcel weighs well over a kilogram in glass, which raises both courier cost and breakage. The 100g format is the only one that returns above 70% material margin and still ships in a stocked box.

The price-band argument
3 × 100g lands the set at ₹1,499–₹1,899, which is the largest gifting band in Indian festive retail — comfortably above a token gift, comfortably below the point where a buyer starts comparing you with a brand they already know. 3 × 50g falls into the under-₹999 band where you compete with mass-market boxed sets on price alone.
The CSI principle
Wax does not scale with the number of candles. Price does.
276g of soy costs ₹165.60 whether you pour it once or three times. Everything that changes between one candle and three — two extra wicks, two extra jars, two extra stickers — comes to about ₹44. The price difference between the two products is ₹500. That gap is the entire business case for a gift set, and it is available to any maker who owns a scale and three jars.

The composition principle: three scents need one reason

A three-scent set must have an internal logic — a progression, a contrast, or a narrative — or it reads as three leftovers in a box. This is not a design nicety. It is the difference between a product a customer can describe to someone else and a product they cannot. If a buyer picks up your set and cannot say in one sentence why these three belong together, the set is a discount waiting to happen.

The test is brutally simple. Write the reason on a card and put it in the box. If the sentence is embarrassing to write down — "these are the three scents I had most of" — the composition is wrong. Three patterns cover almost every set worth making.

1
The arc — light to deepThe first candle is bright and volatile, the second sits in the middle, the third is heavy and resinous. The customer burns them in order across an evening, or across a season. The arc is the easiest pattern to sell because it explains its own order: RajnigandhaSandalwoodSaffron Cedarwood needs no further explanation. Rule: each step must be audibly heavier than the last, or you have three middles.
2
The one-family trio — three florals, three woodsAll three scents come from a single family, and the set is an argument about how much variety exists inside it. Three woods — White Royal Oud, Regal Royal Oud, Sacred Sandal Ember — sell to a customer who already knows they like woods and wants range within it. Rule: if two of the three could be confused in a blind smell test, the set has failed. A one-family trio needs more internal contrast than an arc, not less.
3
The day-parts set — morning, evening, nightEach candle is assigned a time and the set becomes a small narrative about a day. Citrus Lemon for the morning kitchen, Sandalwood for the evening living room, Lavender for the bedroom. This is the strongest pattern for housewarming and for festivals with a shape to their day, because the story is already in the customer's head. Rule: name the time on each label. The narrative only works if it is written down.
Three scents in a box is inventory. Three scents with a reason is a product.

Eleven three-scent sets, costed from real CSI stock

Every set below is 3 × 100g at an 8% fragrance load — 8g of oil per candle, 24g per set. Fragrance is costed at 1kg per-gram pricing, which is the rate you will actually pay once a set goes into production. Every set carries the same ₹373.27 fixed cost: 276g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹165.60, three Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹17.70, three 130g shot glass jars at ₹144.00, and ₹45.97 of packaging. Only the three oils move.

Diwali · 8 November 2026 · the arc
Dawn to Diya
A clean light-to-deep arc that mirrors the day itself: the tuberose garland at the door in the morning, sandalwood through the puja in the evening, and saffron-cedar for the hours after the diyas are lit. Rajnigandha carries the cultural specificity that no imported gourmand can, and it is the note that makes an Indian Diwali set read as Indian rather than as a generic autumn box. Saffron Cedarwood closes the arc heavy enough that the progression is obvious on the shelf, not just in the copy. Lead time matters more here than anywhere: Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, roughly twelve weeks out, which means fragrance must be decided and ordered by late August or early September to leave room to test, cure, pour, cure again and pack.

Raksha Bandhan · 28 August 2026 · one family
The Mithai Box
Three gourmands and nothing else, because Rakhi is a sweets festival and the set should behave like the box of mithai it sits beside. The internal contrast is the whole trick: chocolate is thick, cinnamon-vanilla is warm and dry, roasted coffee is bitter and dark. Nobody will confuse them, which is the requirement for a one-family trio. It is also the cheapest premium-feeling set on this page — gourmand oils are among the least expensive per gram at CSI, so the set delivers a rich impression at ₹98.06 of fragrance. Note the timing honestly: Raksha Bandhan falls on Friday 28 August 2026, about eleven days from now, which is too tight for a new production run. This year, sell what is already cured; use the set as your 2027 template and pour it in July.

Christmas · 25 December 2026 · day-parts
One Day in December
A narrative set built as a single day: pear for the fruit bowl in the morning, apple-cinnamon for the afternoon kitchen, palo santo for the smoke and resin of a midnight service. The day-parts pattern works best when the day already has a shape in the customer's mind, and Christmas has more shape than any other date on this list. Palo Santo is the surprise that lifts the set out of the generic-festive category — it is resinous and slightly dry, which stops the box collapsing into three sweet candles. Christmas is roughly eighteen weeks out, so this is the one festive set you can still test properly: pour a sample run in September, cure fully, and adjust the middle candle if the arc feels flat.

Valentine's · 14 February 2027 · one family
One Rose, Three Temperatures
Rose is the obvious Valentine's answer and therefore the hardest to sell, because every competitor has a rose candle. The fix is to make the set an argument about rose rather than a delivery of it: British Rose is cool and green, Spicy Raspberry is hot and sharp, Smoked Rose Royale is dark and resinous. Same flower, three temperatures — a story the customer can repeat. This is also the pattern that lets you charge above the standard rose candle price, because the set demonstrates expertise rather than availability. Valentine's Day next falls on Sunday 14 February 2027, so this is a plan-in-December set, not a scramble-in-February one.

Mother's Day · 9 May 2027 · the arc
Quiet, Warmer, Warmest
An intensity arc rather than a seasonal one, and deliberately built from the three most reordered families in Indian home fragrance. Lavender opens quiet and spa-clean, Gardenia fills the middle with a creamy white floral, and Vanilla Bean closes it warm. This is the safest set on the page and it should be — Mother's Day gifting is bought by people who do not want to be adventurous with someone else's living room. Mother's Day in India falls on the second Sunday of May, which next occurs on 9 May 2027. Watch the vanilla: vanillin oxidises and can turn white soy cream or pale brown over several weeks, so use tinted glass or an opaque dye rather than discovering it after the set has shipped.

Housewarming / Griha Pravesh · day-parts
Three Rooms
The day-parts pattern applied to space instead of time, and the single most useful set a candle brand can keep in permanent stock. Citrus Lemon for the kitchen, Sandalwood for the living room and puja corner, Lavender for the bedroom — a giver at a griha pravesh is standing in a house they have just been shown around, and a set organised by room is immediately legible to them. It is also the cheapest set here after the signature trio, at ₹104.65 of fragrance, because two of the three oils are among CSI's most affordable per kilogram. Housewarming gifting has no date, which makes this the set that smooths your revenue between festivals.

Wedding & hampers · one family
Three Woods
The premium set, and the one that justifies a rigid box. Three ouds sounds like a mistake until you smell them side by side: White Royal Oud is clean and almost powdery, Regal Royal Oud is the classic resinous centre, Sacred Sandal Ember is sandal wrapped in smoke. That is a one-family trio doing exactly what the pattern demands — proving the range inside a family the buyer already trusts. Wedding hampers are bought in volume by people who need the gift to look expensive from across a room, and a wood trio does that better than anything floral. Indian wedding season runs broadly November to February and again April to June, and the November–December peak overlaps Diwali, which is why oud stock has to cover both at once.

Karwa Chauth · day-parts
Sargi to Moonrise
No festival on this list has a clearer day-parts structure, which makes the composition almost self-writing: Cinnamon Vanilla for the pre-dawn sargi, Gardenia for the long waiting hours, Raat Ki Rani for the moon. The third candle is the one that sells the set — a night-blooming jasmine named for exactly the moment the fast ends is the kind of detail a customer repeats to the person they are gifting. Karwa Chauth falls in the weeks between Dussehra and Diwali, so it sits inside the same production window as your Diwali run; pour both from one wax batch. If you want the more traditional opening, Mogra at ₹642 per 100g swaps cleanly into the middle slot, though it is stocked in a single 100g size rather than the usual 100g/500g/1kg ladder.

Navratri · one family
Nine Nights, Three Flowers
Three florals, which is the textbook one-family trio and the hardest to get right, because florals blur into each other faster than any other family. These three do not: Jasmine is sharp and green-white, Rajnigandha is heavy and waxy, Ylang Ylang is banana-sweet and almost tropical. Put them in a blind test and nobody confuses them. The set suits the flower-heavy visual language of Navratri and it is deliberately the second-cheapest here at ₹109.54 of fragrance, because Navratri and Dussehra gifting sits at a lower price point than Diwali. Sharad Navratri runs its nine nights and closes with Dussehra roughly three weeks before Diwali, so the production run comes first — pour Navratri stock before your Diwali batch, not after.

Eid · the arc
Attar Arc
An arc built in the attar register rather than the candle register, which is what distinguishes a considered Eid set from a repackaged oud candle. Bergamot Amber opens bright and citrus-resinous, Firdaus BA sits lush in the middle, Midnight Bakhoor Royale closes with the smoke of a bakhoor burner. The third candle is doing cultural work the other two cannot: bakhoor is a scent with a specific occasion attached to it, and naming it on the label is what makes the set read as made-for-Eid rather than adapted-for-Eid. Eid dates move roughly eleven days earlier through the Gregorian calendar each year and are confirmed by local sighting, so set your production calendar against the local announcement rather than a fixed date, and work backwards eight to ten weeks from there.

The House Three
The set that should never leave your catalogue, and — not coincidentally — the highest-margin set on this page at ₹83.45 of fragrance. Fresh, then floral, then woody: three families, one from each end and one from the middle, so the box covers the three broadest customer types in a single product. It has no festival attached, which means it sells in February and July when nothing else does, it photographs once and stays on the site forever, and it is the set you hand a corporate buyer who wants something safe. The packaging question: a set lives or dies on the box

A single candle is judged when it is lit. A three-scent set is judged before it is opened, because it is bought as an object to hand over. That reverses the usual priority: on a set, the box is not protection, it is the product. A ₹1,699 price on three candles rattling inside a plain carton will not hold, and the customer will not be able to tell you why — they will simply not buy it twice.

Here is the CSI-stocked baseline, costed per set, from packaging materials. This is the version you can order today on one invoice alongside the wax and the oils.

Rigid presentation is the upgrade that unlocks the next price band. A rigid box — the kind with a lift-off lid and no visible flute — is what separates a ₹1,699 set from a ₹2,199 one, and it is not a CSI line; you commission it from a box printer, and in India you should budget roughly ₹90 to ₹150 per box at small quantities, falling steeply above 500 units. Treat that as an external estimate, not a quoted price. If you go rigid, keep the corrugated 3-ply as a transit outer rather than shipping the presentation box bare, and add air bubble roll at ₹900 per roll for courier runs. A ₹120 rigid box plus the ₹26.72 outer takes packaging to about ₹146 per set — still under 7% of a ₹2,199 retail.

The most common set-packaging failure is rattle, not crush. Three jars in a box with nothing between them will chip each other in transit even when the carton arrives intact, and a chipped rim on a gift set is a full refund. ₹9.00 of crinkle filler per set is the cheapest insurance in this entire costing. Pack the filler around and between the jars, not just underneath them, and shake the sealed box before it goes out — if you can hear anything move, it is not packed.
Sequence the unboxing
Tissue wrap around each jar, filler between them, care sticker under each base, and the composition card on top so it is the first thing seen. The card carries the one sentence that explains the set — "morning, evening, night" or "one rose, three temperatures". That sentence is the reason the customer paid ₹1,699 instead of ₹1,199, so do not bury it under the candles.

The production and inventory advantages nobody mentions

A set does two things to your operation that have nothing to do with margin: it moves your slow scents, and it removes guesswork from your next order.

First, the set carries a slow seller alongside a hero. Every catalogue has one — a scent that tests beautifully, photographs well and then sits. On its own, Saffron Cedarwood at ₹696 per 100g is a hard single sell in a market that reaches for sandalwood by default. Inside the Diwali set, it is not being chosen at all — the customer is buying the arc, and the arc needs a deep third note. Sell 100 sets and you have moved 800g of a scent that would otherwise have gone nowhere, at full margin, without a discount and without training the customer to wait for one. This is the only reliable mechanism a small brand has for clearing a slow scent that is not a price cut.

Second, a set fixes your fragrance ratios in advance, which is what makes forecasting possible. Selling three scents individually means you are guessing a split — maybe 50% sandalwood, 30% rose, 20% oud, revised in panic every fortnight. Selling them as a set forces the split to 1:1:1 before the season begins. Every set consumes exactly 8g of each oil, so demand for one scent is demand for all three, in equal measure, permanently. You stop forecasting three products and start forecasting one.

Buy-in for a 100-set Diwali run
What 1:1:1 actually lets you order
Input Needed Order Cost
Rajnigandha 800g 1kg ₹4,460
Sandalwood 800g 1kg ₹5,027
Saffron Cedarwood 800g 1kg ₹6,868
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 27.6kg 3 × 10kg ₹17,997
Eco Wicks Thin (C1) 300 500 wicks ₹2,950
Shot glass jars, 130g 300 50 packs of 6 ₹14,400
Boxes, filler, tissue, tape, stickers 100 sets full packs ₹5,747
Total buy-in ₹57,449
Revenue at ₹1,699 100 sets ₹1,69,900

That buy-in includes real surplus — 200g of each oil, 2.4kg of spare wax, 200 wicks and a part-roll of stickers — which carries into the next run rather than being lost. The number that matters is the certainty, not the total. Because the ratio is fixed, there is no scenario in which you finish the season holding 700g of one scent and none of another, which is the single most common way a small candle brand ties up its working capital before a festive peak.

The conversion to remember: at 8g per 100g candle, 1kg of any oil covers 125 candle slots, 500g covers 62 and 100g covers 12. So one kilogram fills one slot in 125 sets, or all three slots in 41 sets. Work your order in slots, not in candles, and the arithmetic stops being confusing.
Working back from 8 November 2026
Diwali is roughly twelve weeks out. The sequence is fragrance ordered → test pours and a 14–21 day cure → production run → cure again → pack → dispatch. That puts your fragrance decision in late August or early September at the latest. Karwa Chauth and Navratri sit inside the same window, so decide all three sets together and pour them from one wax purchase.

Wax compatibility, fragrance load and 100g/500g/1kg sizing

Every costing on this page assumes an 8% fragrance load in a soy container candle. That figure is deliberate: it sits comfortably under the ceiling of every container wax CSI stocks, so the same recipe works whichever you choose. Use one wax across all three candles in a set — mixing waxes inside a set produces three different burn behaviours, and the customer will notice that the third candle tunnels when the first did not.

Wax selection for gift sets
Match the wax to the set you are pouring
Wax Best for Load From
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks The default for all eleven sets; jar and container candles Up to 13% ₹299 / 500g
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) Sets seen in daylight — low frosting, strong glass adhesion; melt and pour 80–90°C Up to 10% ₹260 / 500g
Eco Soy CSI 400 First sample run; one-pour, no additives, creamy top Standard ₹399 / 1kg
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 The ₹2,199 rigid-box tier; smoother finish, fuller throw Standard ₹325 / 500g
Soy Pillar Wax Moulded or shaped pieces if a set includes a non-jar item Standard ₹300 / 500g
Add fragrance at the right temperature or the set will be inconsistent. For Eco Soy CSI 400 the instruction is to add fragrance at 80–90°C and stir for a full two minutes. Two minutes is not a suggestion — it is the difference between fragrance dissolved into the wax and fragrance sitting in it. Across a three-candle set this matters twice as much as it does on a single pour, because any variation between the three is directly comparable by the same customer on the same shelf. Use a pen thermometer and a weighing scale, and weigh every one of the three pours rather than eyeballing the third.

On order sizing, the rule is the same as for any fragrance decision, adjusted for the fact that a set consumes all three scents in lockstep. Buy 100g of each while the set is unproven, 500g once it has sold through once, and 1kg per slot as soon as a run is committed. There is no case for buying 1kg of one scent and 100g of another in a set — the ratio is fixed at 1:1:1, so the sizes should match.

100g / 500g / 1kg · the oils used above
One kilogram fills 125 candle slots at 8g each
Oil 100g (12 slots) 500g (62 slots) 1kg (125 slots)
Citrus Lemon ₹300 ₹1,420 ₹2,832
British Rose ₹342 ₹1,593 ₹3,068
Jasmine ₹430 ₹1,961 ₹3,923
Woody Oud ₹453 ₹2,266 ₹4,531
Rajnigandha ₹500 ₹2,300 ₹4,460
Sandalwood ₹503 ₹2,513 ₹5,027
Lavender ₹540 ₹2,620 ₹5,221
Saffron Cedarwood ₹696 ₹2,584 ₹6,868
Vanilla Bean ₹790 ₹3,840 ₹7,646
Midnight Bakhoor Royale ₹799 ₹3,999 ₹7,999
Check the 500g line before you buy the kilogram
The per-gram saving from 100g to 1kg is usually only 3–6%, and on at least one oil here the ladder does not run the way you expect: Saffron Cedarwood is ₹2,584 for 500g and ₹6,868 for 1kg, so two 500g packs cost ₹5,168 against ₹6,868 for the single kilogram. Read the size table on the product page every time rather than assuming bigger is cheaper.

Wick every candle in the set to its own jar diameter, not to the set — the 130g shot glass jar takes Eco Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 each, while a wider vessel needs Thick (C2) at ₹9.44. An undersized wick in one of three candles is the fastest way to make a customer conclude that "one of them doesn't smell", when the melt pool is the actual fault. If any candle in a set reads weak, work through the weak throw diagnosis guide before you change the fragrance.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We do not sell gift sets, so there is no version of this article where we benefit from talking you into an expensive trio. What we do have is the order data behind hundreds of Indian candle businesses — which oils move in 100g and which move in kilograms, which sizes get reordered before a festive peak, and which packaging lines run out first in October.

Every price, size, handle and pack quantity in this guide is taken from live CSI stock in August 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Every cost figure is calculated rather than estimated, and every input is named so you can rerun the arithmetic against your own jars, boxes and load. Retail prices are stated as suggestions benchmarked to the Indian gifting market, not as guarantees — your own labour, marketing and channel costs sit on top of the materials figure.

Festival dates used here are Diwali on 8 November 2026, Raksha Bandhan on 28 August 2026, Christmas on 25 December 2026, Valentine's Day on 14 February 2027 and Mother's Day on 9 May 2027. Frequently asked questions

Why does a three-scent candle gift set earn more than one large candle?
Because the same wax carries a much higher price in three pieces than in one. Three 100g candles and one 300g candle both use 276g of wax and 24g of fragrance at an 8% load. The single candle costs about ₹460 in materials and realistically retails at ₹1,199. The three-scent set costs about ₹504 in materials and retails at ₹1,699. That is ₹44 more in materials for ₹500 more in price, which is roughly ₹456 of extra gross margin on every unit sold.
What size should the candles in a three-scent gift set be?
Three 100g candles is the sweet spot for the Indian market. Costed on CSI stock, 3 × 50g gives materials of about ₹294 against a realistic ₹899 retail, 3 × 100g gives about ₹504 against ₹1,699, and 3 × 200g gives about ₹862 against ₹2,499. The 100g format returns the widest material margin of the three at roughly 70%, ships without a custom box, and sits in the ₹1,499–₹1,999 gifting band where most Indian festival buying happens.
How much does a three-scent candle gift set cost to make in India?
Between about ₹457 and ₹546 in materials for three 100g candles at an 8% fragrance load. The fixed part is ₹373.27: 276g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹165.60, three Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 at ₹17.70, three 130g glass jars at ₹144.00 and packaging at ₹45.97. Only the three oils vary, adding between ₹83 and ₹173 depending on the scents chosen.
How do you choose three scents that work together in a gift set?
Pick one of three patterns and state it on the box. The arc runs light to deep, so a bright floral, then a wood, then a resin. The one-family trio takes three scents from a single family, such as three florals or three woods, and relies on the differences between them. The day-parts set tells a story from morning to night. If a customer cannot say in one sentence why these three belong together, the set reads as three leftovers in a box and prices like it.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 100 three-scent gift sets?
Exactly 800g of each of the three oils, because a set fixes the ratio at 1:1:1 and each 100g candle at an 8% load takes 8g. Buy 1kg of each and you cover the run with 200g of headroom per scent. One kilogram covers 125 candle slots, 500g covers 62 and 100g covers 12. For 100 Diwali sets you also need about 27.6kg of wax, 300 wicks, 300 jars and 100 boxes.
Which wax should I use for a three-scent gift set?
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are the default for jar and container candles and are rated to a 13% fragrance load, which leaves plenty of headroom above the 8% used in these costings. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 flakes are rated to 10%, melt and pour at 80–90°C and frost less, which suits a gift set seen in daylight. Eco Soy CSI 400 is the beginner one-pour option, with fragrance added at 80–90°C and stirred for two full minutes. Use the same wax across all three candles in a set so the burn behaviour matches.
