Strongest Candle Fragran Oils in India

There is no published measurement of fragrance throw anywhere in this catalogue, so a ranking built on measurement would be invented. This one is built on five things that are actually printed — and six listings out of 107 clear all five.
6 of 107
CSI fragrance-oil listings clear all five published-evidence tests · the six run ₹45.31 to ₹122.34 of oil per 200 g candle at 8% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which are the six? Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud, Apple Cinnamon, Blue Ocean and Dark Vanilla. Each one states a strength of Strong, publishes a full base-note tier, publishes a soy-specific load and cure, carries at least one four- or five-star buyer review, and is in stock in a 1 kg pack.

Does scoring 5/5 mean it throws the furthest? No. It means the listing gives you the most to work with before you spend anything. Nobody — not CSI, not any supplier in India — publishes throw measured in square metres, so a claim of "furthest" would have no source behind it.

Why five tests and not a star rating? Because a star rating hides the reasoning. Five yes/no tests can be checked in about half an hour on the product pages, which means you can rebuild this table, or prove it wrong. That is the only kind of ranking worth publishing.

What do the six cost? At 1 kg pricing and 8%, the oil inside a 200 g candle runs ₹45.31 for Citrus Lemon to ₹122.34 for Dark Vanilla. Buying one 100 g bottle of each of the six comes to ₹2,902.48.
The short answer
Rank on what is printed, then stop: stated strength, stated base tier, stated soy load and cure, a published buyer review, and a 1 kg pack in stock. Five facts, all checkable, none of them a measurement of throw.
Six clear all five and five more clear four — the near-misses fail on one field each, and the field they fail on tells you what your test has to cover.
Buy three of the six, not all six: ₹1,143.12 buys 100 g each of Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee and Woody Oud — three families, thirty test jars and enough left for a second round.

Five published tests · filled = the page or the listing provides it Strong Base tier Review Soy load 1 kg pack Score Citrus Lemon 5 Roasted Coffee 5 Woody Oud 5 Apple Cinnamon 5 Blue Ocean 5 Dark Vanilla 5 Jasmine 4 Cinnamon Vanilla 4 Lavender 4
Six listings fill every square. The three below them each miss one: Jasmine publishes a profile but no separate base tier, Cinnamon Vanilla publishes no strength line at all, though its copy claims "exceptional hot and cold throw", and Lavender states a general candle usage rate rather than a soy-specific load with a cure. An empty square is not a fault — it is a gap your own test has to close.
Straight answer
Which fragrance oils are strongest in India, and how would anyone know?
Nobody knows, because nothing in this market publishes throw as a measurement — not in square metres, not in hours, not against a control. What can be ranked honestly is the evidence a listing puts in front of you before you spend, and by that standard six CSI oils lead: Citrus Lemon (₹2,832/kg, ₹45.31 of oil per 200 g candle at 8%), Roasted Coffee (₹3,738/kg, ₹59.81), Woody Oud (₹4,531.20/kg, ₹72.50), Apple Cinnamon (₹4,743.60/kg, ₹75.90), Blue Ocean (₹4,956/kg, ₹79.30) and Dark Vanilla (₹7,646/kg, ₹122.34). Each states a strength of Strong, publishes a full note pyramid with a base tier, publishes a soy-specific load with a cure time, carries a published four- or five-star review, and is in stock in a kilogram. Five more clear four of the five. That is the whole ranking, and it is deliberately boring: it tells you which listings are worth a hundred grams and a burn test, not which one wins a competition nobody has run. Buy three across three families — Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee and Woody Oud at 100 g are ₹1,143.12 together — pour them into the same wax at the same load, and let the fourteen-day burn decide the order.
One line: six listings give you everything a page can give you — take three of them, one wax, one wick and a fortnight, and you will have a ranking that actually belongs to your candle.
The three-family starter from the top six: Citrus Lemon 100 g ₹300, Roasted Coffee 100 g ₹390 and Woody Oud 100 g ₹453.12 — ₹1,143.12 together, and thirty 120 g test jars' worth of oil.

The five tests, printed

Almost every "strongest oils" list in this industry is unfalsifiable. Here is the method in full, so that you can prove this one wrong.

A ranking is a serious thing to publish when you also sell the products in it. The only way to do it without simply advertising is to fix the tests in advance, apply them to every listing without exception, and publish the tests alongside the result so a reader can audit them. These five are the ones that survived that requirement: each is a yes or a no, each is visible on a public product page or in a public review, and none of them requires you to take our word for anything.

The scoring rules · fixed before any oil was looked at
What each test asks, why it is on the list, and how you check it yourself
Test Passes if Why it earns a point Where you check it
1 · Stated Strong The listing's own strength field begins with the word "Strong" It is the blender's own claim about the material, on the record, in writing The specification block on the product page
2 · Base tier published The page gives a full pyramid with a named base note, not just a profile The base tier is what is built to remain after the opening has gone; without it you are guessing at structure The scent-notes section
3 · Outside evidence At least one published four- or five-star buyer review on that listing Somebody other than the seller has put their name to a result The reviews on the product page
4 · Soy-specific load and cure The page states a soy percentage and a cure window, not just a general candle rate It tells you how far you may legitimately push, and how long to wait before judging The usage or fragrance-load section
5 · Kilogram in stock A 1 kg pack is listed and available A scent you cannot buy at production scale is a hobby, not a line The size selector

Two tests were considered and deliberately left out. Price is not a test, because there is no published relationship between what an oil costs and how it behaves in wax — the six that score full marks span ₹2,832 to ₹7,646 a kilogram, a 2.7× spread, with identical scores. Flash point is not a test either: only eighteen of the 107 listings state a measured value, another thirty-two carry a "> 93°C" template line that is a threshold for alcohol-based products rather than a measurement, and a flash point is a handling number anyway — it tells you what temperature to stay under when you add the oil, not how the candle smells.

Why "soy-specific" and not just "a load"
Roughly a quarter of the range states a single candle usage rate "of total wax weight" and leaves it there. That is usable, but it treats soy and paraffin as the same problem, and they are not: several CSI pages that separate them state up to 10% for soy and up to 6% for paraffin on the same oil. A page that bothers to separate them is a page that has thought about the wax you are actually pouring — which is why it earns a point here. The wax side of that decision is in the soy fragrance oil guide.

The scorecard

Every CSI fragrance-oil listing scoring three or more, ordered by score and then by price per kilogram. The oil cost column is the fragrance inside one 200 g candle at an 8% load — price per gram times sixteen. Four listings that would otherwise appear here are retailer- or designer-inspired scents whose names belong to third parties; this guide does not reproduce those names, so they are left off the table. You will find them in the fragrance oils collection and the same five tests apply to them.

White Royal Oud 3/5 No soy-specific load; no published review ₹8,103 ₹129.65
Priced above: oil per candle = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × 16 g, because a 200 g candle at an 8% load is 184 g of wax and 16 g of oil. Citrus Lemon ₹2.832/g × 16 = ₹45.31 · Woody Oud ₹4.5312/g × 16 = ₹72.50 · Dark Vanilla ₹7.646/g × 16 = ₹122.34 · Gilli Mitti ₹8.96/g × 16 = ₹143.36. Six 100 g bottles of the 5/5 set: ₹300 + ₹390 + ₹453.12 + ₹474.36 + ₹495 + ₹790 = ₹2,902.48. The three-family starter is ₹300 + ₹390 + ₹453.12 = ₹1,143.12.
The mistake: reading the score as a league table. Citrus Lemon scores 5/5 and so does Dark Vanilla, and they are almost nothing alike — one is a bright citrus that the page itself says needs a full cure before judging, the other a vanillin-carrying gourmand that will yellow white wax. The score says this listing has given you everything a listing can give you. It does not say the two oils are interchangeable, equally strong, or equally right for your brand. Rank on the score to build the shortlist; choose within the shortlist on the scent and the customer.

The six, and what to do with each

Three of the six get full cards below, chosen to span the price range and the families. Each card lists every pack size, the price per kilogram at that size, and how many 120 g test jars at 8% the pack fills — ten of them from a 100 g bottle. The other three — Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee and Woody Oud — are costed in the table above and covered pack by pack in the strong fragrance oil buying guide.

5/5 · aquatic / fresh-floral
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
The only fresh-aquatic listing in the top six, and the one whose page is most explicit about both throws: its stated strength is "Strong — excellent cold and hot throw in candles and wax melts", and it instructs up to 10% for soy, paraffin and natural wax blends with a 48–72 hour cure before burn testing. The published pyramid runs sea salt and ozone, through jasmine and lily of the valley, to a base of "driftwood, musk — warm, grounding, soothing depth". It states 0% vanillin and a measured flash point of 143°C (290°F), which is on the lower side of the measured values in the range — keep your add temperature comfortably below it. Its 15 g trial size is currently sold out, so 50 g at ₹247 is the smallest way in.

5/5 · gourmand / oriental · the premium end
Dark Vanilla Fragrance Oil
The most expensive of the six and the one with the heaviest published structure: rich vanilla and spice over deep caramel and cream, down to a base of "dark amber, warm musk — deep, grounding, long-lasting". Stated strength is "Strong — impactful at lower loads, deeply rich at higher", with 6–10% for soy wax and a 48–72 hour cure, 6–8% for paraffin, and a stated flash point of approximately 191–193°C. The page states plainly that vanillin is present and will yellow white wax, which is a commercial decision rather than a defect: amber, cream and coloured glass hide it, white pillars do not. At ₹122.34 of oil per candle, price it in before you set a retail number.

5/5 · spiced gourmand · most reviewed of the six
Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil
The listing in the top six with the most outside evidence: three published four- and five-star reviews, including one from a maker who reports that customers who walked into a home scented with it went on to order. Stated strength is "Strong — bold and festive at higher loads, subtly comforting at lower", with 6–10% for soy wax, cure 48–72 hours and 6–8% for paraffin, cure 24–48 hours. The pyramid runs juicy apple and cinnamon, through baked goods and nutmeg, to a base of "vanilla, warm amber — sweet, grounding". Vanillin is stated as present, so test it in the wax colour you sell. Its price per gram is flat from 50 g upward at ₹4.74, which makes the 100 g bottle the obvious test size.

The near-misses and what they teach

Six oils score full marks and not one of them has been measured. That sentence is the entire point of this page.

A four-out-of-five is not a rejection. It is a listing with one specific gap, and the gap tells you exactly what your own test has to establish. Read the near-misses as instructions rather than as demerits — in three of the five cases below, the missing point is a piece of page copy rather than a property of the oil.

The five near-misses · what is missing and what it costs you
The gap, what it means in the workshop, and how to close it yourself
Oil The gap What it actually means How you close it
Jasmine · ₹3,923/kg No separate base tier published You cannot read what is built to stay behind — though the page does state "strong cold and hot throw" and a measured flash point of 185°C Judge the dry-down yourself at ninety minutes into a burn, not at thirty
Cinnamon Vanilla · ₹4,554.80/kg No stated strength line Page copy, not chemistry: it claims "exceptional hot and cold throw" elsewhere and publishes a full pyramid down to cream and butter Treat it as a candidate and let the burn test rank it against the six
Lavender · ₹5,221/kg General candle usage rate, no soy-specific load and cure You get a percentage but no cure window — and it has five published reviews, more than any of the six Cure fourteen days and compare against day seven so you can see the difference yourself
Dark Vanilla Oud · ₹5,691/kg General candle usage rate, no soy-specific load Same gap as Lavender, on a heavier oriental structure where cure usually matters more Give it the full fortnight before you decide, as oud-type structures are slow to settle
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) · ₹8,960/kg No stated strength line The most expensive oil on the scorecard at ₹143.36 a candle, with a published review calling the scent authentic Test at the bottom of your wax's range first — at this price, over-dosing is expensive
Don't confuse a missing field with a weak oil. Twenty-six of the 107 listings state no fragrance percentage at all, and five publish no scent notes of any kind. Those listings score badly here and some of them will perform beautifully in your wax — the score measures what the page tells you, which is a measure of the page. The practical consequence is simply that an unscored oil needs a more careful test: start at the low end of your wax's stated range, cure the full fortnight, and change one variable at a time. What to ask for when the page is quiet is set out in how to tell if a fragrance oil is good quality.
The CSI principle
A ranking you can rebuild is a tool. A ranking you cannot rebuild is an advertisement with a number on it.
Every point on this scorecard comes from a sentence you can read on a public product page or a review you can read under it. If you rebuild the table and reach a different answer, the tests were wrong or the pages have changed — either way you will have learned something the word "strongest" could never have taught you.

Rebuild the ranking yourself

Half an hour, a spreadsheet and the fragrance oils collection. Do this before your next order and you will never again buy a kilo on the strength of a headline.

1
Set up six columns before you open a single product pageOil · strength line · base note · soy load and cure · review count · 1 kg price. Fixing the columns first is what stops the exercise from becoming a search for reasons to buy what you already wanted.
2
Filter the collection to the families you would actually sellNobody needs to score 107 listings. Pick three or four families that fit your brand and score only those — twenty listings is plenty, and it keeps the exercise to an evening.
3
Copy the sentences, do not summarise themPaste the strength line and the load line word for word. Summarising is where errors get in: "up to 10% for soy wax with a cure time of 48–72 hours" and "6–10% for soy wax, cure 48–72 hours" are different instructions, and you will want the exact one in front of you at the melter.
4
Count only reviews on that listingStore-wide praise is not evidence about an oil. A review under a different product tells you about packing and delivery, which matters, but not about throw.
5
Take the top three by score, then buy across familiesIf your top three all turn out to be gourmands, drop the third and take the best-scoring oil from a different family instead. A range needs contrast more than it needs a high average score.
6
Pour, cure fourteen days, burn three hours, then re-rankSame wax, same wick, same 8% load, same jar, three hours in a closed room. Write the new order underneath the old one. The gap between the two lists is the most valuable thing this exercise produces. Method and score sheet: how to test hot throw before launching a candle fragrance.
Score what is printed, because that is all a stranger can score. Then burn four jars, because that is what your customer is going to do.

What a ranked shortlist costs to buy

A ranking is only useful if it turns into an order. Below are the three realistic ways to buy the top of this table, with what each one produces. All three assume a 200 g candle at an 8% load — 184 g of wax and 16 g of oil — and the wax is Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599 a kilogram, whose page states an 8–13% range with 10% recommended.

Three ways to buy the top of the scorecard · CSI live pricing, September 2026
What each order costs, what it makes, and who it is for
Order Oils Cost What it makes For
Sniff test 15 g of Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud, Apple Cinnamon ₹361.08 Four bottles to smell and rank on a shelf. About one 120 g jar each if you pour them Deciding which three deserve a real test
Burn test 100 g each of Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud ₹1,143.12 Thirty 120 g jars at 8%, or eighteen 200 g candles, with oil left for a second round Choosing the scent that gets the kilo
First production run 1 kg of the one that won ₹2,832–₹7,646 62 candles of 200 g, or 104 jars of 120 g, from one bottle Pouring to an order book

The sniff-test line is the cheapest honest step in candle making and the one most often skipped: ₹361.08 for four 15 g bottles — ₹81.42, ₹93.22, ₹93.22 and ₹93.22 — buys you a shelf of four scents to live with for a week before you commit ₹1,143.12 to pouring three of them. Per gram it is the most expensive oil you will ever buy, and that is fine, because you are buying a decision rather than a candle. What a 15 g bottle cannot do is tell you anything about a burn, so do not try to run a throw comparison on one.

At the other end, notice what a kilogram actually is. One kilogram of oil at 8% scents 62 candles of 200 g — so a 300-candle festive run in one scent needs 4.8 kg, which is five 1 kg bottles at listed pricing. That is the point at which the arithmetic stops being a blog post and becomes a conversation: 1 kg is the largest pack listed, there is no published bulk schedule and no published minimum order, and quantities above a kilo are quoted individually. Multiply the listed kilo price to get your ceiling, then ask.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles, and does not blend the fragrance oils it sells. A supplier ranking its own range has an obvious interest in the result, which is exactly why the tests here are printed in full and set before any listing was scored. If a test looks wrong to you, throw it out and re-run the table — the data is on public product pages. The six oils at the top are not the six we most want to sell; two of them are among the cheapest in the catalogue.

Every price, pack size and specification comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Strength lines, note pyramids, loads, cure times, vanillin content and flash points are quoted only where the page publishes them. No throw distance, room coverage, burn-test result, shelf life or storage specification appears here, because none is published for any oil in the range. Review counts are published Judge.me reviews at four or five stars on the listing itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the strongest candle fragrance oil in India?
No supplier can answer that from published data, because nobody publishes throw as a measurement. What can be answered is which listings give you the most to go on: six CSI oils — Citrus Lemon, Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud, Apple Cinnamon, Blue Ocean and Dark Vanilla — state a strength of Strong, publish a base tier, publish a soy load with a cure, carry a published buyer review and stock a kilogram. Buy three, burn them in the same wax at the same load, and the strongest oil for your candle will rank itself.
How did you decide the ranking?
Five yes/no tests, fixed before any listing was examined and applied to all 107: the strength field must begin with "Strong"; the page must publish a full note pyramid with a base tier; the listing must carry at least one published four- or five-star review; the page must state a soy-specific load together with a cure window; and a 1 kg pack must be listed and in stock. Price and flash point were deliberately excluded — neither has any published relationship to throw. Every point is checkable on a public product page.
Is a higher-priced fragrance oil stronger?
There is no published evidence that it is. The six top-scoring oils run from ₹2,832 to ₹7,646 a kilogram — a 2.7× spread — with identical scores on identical tests. Price reflects the raw materials in a blend, the complexity of the pyramid and the market the oil is aimed at. Buy an expensive oil because the scent is what you want to sell at a premium, and prove the strength in your own jar; the price tag will not do it for you.
Which fragrance families come across as strongest in candles?
The top six span citrus, gourmand, woody-oriental, spiced and aquatic — there is no single winning family in the published data, which is itself the useful finding. What the pages do consistently say is that heavier structures take longer: the oud and vanilla listings ask for a full cure before you judge them, and the citrus listing says the same for a different reason. If a family generalisation is what you need, work from the load guidance in fragrance load by family rather than from adjectives.
Why do some strong-sounding oils score only three out of five?
Because the score measures the listing, not the oil. British Rose scores 3/5 for saying "moderate to strong" and publishing no separate base tier, yet it carries three published five-star reviews including one that specifically names strong cold and hot throw. Chocolate Fudge scores 3/5 purely because it has no reviews yet and gives a general candle rate rather than a soy-specific one. A low score means a thinner page and therefore a more careful test — start low on the load, cure the full fortnight, change one thing at a time.
How much of a strong oil do I need for 100 candles?
At an 8% load in 200 g candles, each candle takes 16 g, so 100 candles need 1.6 kg — two 1 kg bottles at listed pricing, with 400 g spare. At 10% it is 20 g a candle and 2 kg exactly. In money, 100 candles of Citrus Lemon at 8% is ₹4,531.20 of oil and the same run in Dark Vanilla is ₹12,233.60. Since 1 kg is the largest listed pack, multiply the kilo price to get your ceiling and ask on WhatsApp for a quote on the real quantity.

Figures verified September 2026: scoring applied to all 107 fragrance-oil listings. Test 1 passes where the listing's stated strength field begins with "Strong" (16 listings); test 2 where a full note pyramid including a named base tier is published; test 3 where at least one published Judge.me review of four or five stars sits on the listing; test 4 where a soy-specific load and a cure window are both stated; test 5 where a 1 kg pack is listed and in stock. Four listings scoring three or more are omitted from the table because their names are retailer- or designer-inspired third-party names. 1 kg prices as listed: Citrus Lemon ₹2,832, British Rose ₹3,068, Zesty Lemon ₹3,400, Fresh Strawberries ₹3,540, Roasted Coffee ₹3,738, Jasmine ₹3,923, Mango Coconut ₹3,964, Chocolate Fudge ₹3,964.80, Gardenia ₹4,332, Woody Oud ₹4,531.20, Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4,554.80, Verbena ₹4,720, Apple Cinnamon ₹4,743.60, Blue Ocean ₹4,956, Sandalwood ₹5,026.80, Lavender ₹5,221, Cinnamon ₹5,310, Dark Vanilla Oud ₹5,691, Dark Vanilla ₹7,646, White Royal Oud ₹8,103, Gilli Mitti ₹8,960.
