Straight answer
Bulk Candle Fragrance Oil Supplier in Chennai: what should you know?
Work out kilograms a month first: 16 kg of oil per 1,000 candles of 200 g at 8%. Then set a reorder point for each best-seller — weekly use times lead time plus a week of safety — and keep the long tail in 100 g packs. CSI is based in Pune and ships to Chennai and its suburbs — order online, delivered to your door; for more than the largest listed pack of one oil, we quote on WhatsApp. Orders to Chennai are dispatched from Pune by courier. Transit time depends on the courier and your pin code, so we confirm it on WhatsApp when you order instead of printing a number here.
One line: bulk supply is kilograms a month plus a reorder point — the order size follows.
Average kilogram price across the first four Chennai shortlist oils: ₹5,230.95. Buy best-sellers by the kilogram, keep the rest in 100 g.

How much fragrance oil a Chennai candle business goes through

Bulk supply is a planning problem before it is a buying problem. Know your monthly kilograms first.

At an 8% load, every 200 g candle uses 16 g of oil, so each 1,000 candles needs 16 kg. The table turns candles a month into kilograms a month:

Monthly volume
Candles per month translated into kilograms of oil
Stage Candles / month Oil / month Split
Home studio 200 candles 3.2 kg 0.8 kg each across 4 oils
Growing brand 500 candles 8.0 kg 2.0 kg each across 4 oils
Small manufacturer 1,000 candles 16.0 kg 4.0 kg each across 4 oils
Festive peak 2,500 candles 40.0 kg 10.0 kg each across 4 oils

At an average of ₹5,230.95 per kilogram across the first four Chennai shortlist oils, 5 kg a month is about ₹26,155 and 10 kg about ₹52,310 of oil.

Reorder points: never run out mid-festival

1
Know your weekly burnKilograms of each oil used per week in a normal week, and separately in a festive week.
2
Add the lead timeDays from order to oil on your shelf. For Chennai, we confirm transit time on WhatsApp — use the figure we give you, plus a margin.
3
Set the reorder pointReorder point = weekly use × (lead time in weeks + one week of safety). For a best-seller at 2 kg a week and a two-week lead time, reorder at 6 kg.
4
Order best-sellers by the kilogramKeep the long tail in 100 g packs. Only oils that sell every week justify kilogram stock.
5
Check stock before the festive orderOn the September 2026 pull, 39 core oils were in stock at 1 kg and 1 were not (Vetiver). Check the product page before building a festive plan around one oil.
E-way bill on larger consignments. An interstate consignment above the ₹50,000 e-way bill threshold travels with an e-way bill, which the supplier generates. Tell us your GSTIN at order so the documents match your registration.

Storing 5–10 kg of fragrance oil

Keep bottles sealed, upright, out of sunlight and off hot walls or rooftop rooms. Oil does not absorb moisture from the air, but heat and light shorten its life, and open bottles lose their top notes. Chennai's rainy season lands on top of Deepavali shipping. Order festive oil and packaging earlier than a Delhi or Mumbai maker would, and wrap every outer carton for the rains.

Decant a working bottle for daily use rather than opening the kilogram every day, and date every bottle on arrival so the oldest is used first. Storage for the rest of the workshop is in what humidity actually damages.

One Chennai buyer type, costed

Lamp and diya maker for Karthigai Deepam. Small fills in very large numbers. At 80 g, a kilogram of oil at 8% makes about 156 candles.

Say that buyer pours 1,000 candles of 80 g. At 8% each candle takes 6.4 g of oil, so the run needs 6.40 kg — about 6.4 kg in total, split across however many scents the run carries. If it were all Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), the oil would cost about ₹43,354 at the 1 kg price.

Example buyer · Chennai
Lamp and diya maker for Karthigai Deepam: three oils, costed
Oil 1 kg Oil per 80 g candle Candles per kg Oil for 1,000 (single scent)
Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) ₹6,774.00 ₹43.35 156 ₹43,353.60
Jasmine ₹3,923.00 ₹25.11 156 ₹25,107.20
Sandalwood ₹5,026.80 ₹32.17 156 ₹32,171.52

A second Chennai buyer: gift store adding a jasmine-and-sandal line. Floral and sandal profiles for Deepavali and weddings. Keep jasmine at kilogram depth through the season. For 400 candles of 150 g at 8%, the oil comes to 4.80 kg — with Jasmine at ₹3,923.00 per kg, about ₹18,830.

What Chennai changes about bulk supply

Chennai is hot and humid all year, with May–June highs near 40°C; unlike most of India, its main rains come with the north-east monsoon from October to December. Chennai's rainy season lands on top of Deepavali shipping. Order festive oil and packaging earlier than a Delhi or Mumbai maker would, and wrap every outer carton for the rains.

Chennai through the year
Three seasons, three different jobs for a Chennai maker
Months Conditions What to do
March–June Hot and humid, highs near 40°C in May–June Test at your load for sweating; keep finished stock cool.
July–September Hot, some rain The window to buy and test festive oil before the rains.
October–December North-east monsoon — Chennai's main rains Overlaps Deepavali and Karthigai Deepam shipping: order earlier and wrap outer cartons.

Jasmine is part of daily life in Tamil Nadu, which makes a white-floral candle an easy sell — and a demanding one, because customers know what real jasmine smells like. Test it against the flower.

Sandalwood and jasmine read as traditional in Chennai; lemongrass and coconut read as fresh and coastal. A four-oil range can cover both.

Karthigai Deepam is a lamp festival, and many Chennai makers sell small, affordable fills in large numbers around it. At 80 g, a kilogram of oil stretches a long way.

Year-round warmth means a candle sits closer to its sweating point than it would up north — test for sweating at your chosen load before a festive run. Deepavali on 8 November, Karthigai Deepam in late November or December, and Pongal in mid-January make this a lamp-heavy season.

The two columns on the right of the calendar are working back from the festival: six weeks to test a new oil in your wax and jar, and four weeks to have production quantities on the shelf. They are planning margins, not delivery promises — transit time to Chennai is confirmed on WhatsApp when you order.

Argue against interest
Do not hold kilograms of oils that do not sell every week.
It is better for us if you buy more. It is better for you to hold kilograms only of best-sellers and reorder — cash in oil on a shelf is cash you cannot spend on jars.
Plan the kilograms first. The order follows.

We publish every pack price, so the per-gram and per-candle figures here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger pack is not cheaper.

Every price here is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing takes precedence. Items out of stock on that pull are marked rather than offered.

Assumptions: Candle maths use an illustrative 8% fragrance load by weight (16 g of oil and 184 g of wax in a 200 g candle), which is within the stated range of every oil on this page that publishes one; "per candle" material costs include oil, wax and wick only and exclude the vessel, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Worked examples (e.g. "a T. Nagar gift store adding a jasmine-and-sandal line") are illustrations, not customers. Per-gram comparisons use listed prices only.
