Buy Citrus Fragrance Oils for Candle Making
Aktie
Which size should I buy first? 15 g to smell, 100 g to pour, 1 kg to sell. A 15 g bottle is a shortlisting tool — at an 8% load it is 187.5 g of finished candle, roughly one 150 g jar. A 100 g bottle pours 6 candles of 200 g. Only the kilo is a production decision.
Is the kilo always cheaper per gram? Not always, and the gap varies wildly. Verbena falls from ₹5.90 a gram at 100 g to ₹4.72 at 1 kg — ₹18.88 saved per 200 g candle. Juicy Orange is ₹7.49 a gram at 100 g and ₹7.50 at 1 kg, so the kilo is fourteen paise a candle dearer. Check the ladder per oil.
Does citrus really fade? Citrus character sits in the top notes, which are the most volatile part of any composition, so what you smell changes between the jar, the cure and the second burn. That is behaviour, not a defect, and no supplier can promise it away. What you can do is cure the full 48–72 hours the pages state, pour at the top of the stated band, and buy the oils that publish a base note.

Every citrus listing you can buy today
A buyer arriving at CSI looking for citrus is really looking at three different shelves. There are the candle-grade single-direction oils whose pages state a soy load and a cure time. There are the fine perfume oils sold in the perfume collection, whose pages state a candle percentage inside a much longer usage table. And there is one essential oil, which is a different material entirely. All fourteen are listed below with what their own product pages state and what one 200 g candle costs in oil at 8% — sixteen grams.
| Listing | Stated lead note (verbatim) | Smallest pack | Largest pack | Oil per 200 g candle @ 8% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citrus Lemon | "Zesty lemon, lime - sharp, bright, immediately energising" | 15 gm ₹81.42 | 1 kg ₹2,832 | ₹45.31 |
| Citronella | "Top: Lemon, Lemongrass" | 15 gm ₹141.60 | 1 kg ₹2,891 | ₹46.26 |
| Zesty Lemon | "Fresh Lemon Peel, Citrus Zest" | 15g ₹90 | 1kg ₹3,400 | ₹54.40 |
| Grapefruit Oleo | "Pink Grapefruit, Citrus Zest, Bergamot" | 100g ₹341 | 1kg ₹3,407 (sold out) | ₹54.51 |
| 100% Pure Lemon Essential Oil | Essential oil, not a fragrance oil — see the note below | 15 gm ₹70.80 | 1 kg ₹4,484 | ₹71.74 |
| Verbena | "Crisp lemony verbena with herbal undertones" | 15 gm ₹106.20 | 1 kg ₹4,720 | ₹75.52 |
| Lemongrass and Lime | "Zesty lime, fresh lemongrass - bright, citrusy, immediately uplifting" | 15 gm ₹116.52 | 1000 gm ₹5,200 | ₹83.20 |
| Bergamot Amber | "Sparkling bergamot, zesty citrus - bright, fresh, and immediately elegant" | 15 gm ₹105.02 | 1 kg ₹5,437 | ₹86.99 |
| Neroli | "Bright neroli with hints of orange blossom, honey, and soft green undertones" | 15 gm ₹118 | 1 kg ₹6,655.20 | ₹106.48 |
| Juicy Orange | "Sweet Orange, Mandarin, Bergamot" | 15g ₹126 | 1kg ₹7,499 | ₹119.98 |
| Neroli Signature Grade | "Neroli, Bitter Orange, Bergamot" | 15g ₹133 | 1kg ₹7,599 | ₹121.58 |
| Orange no.3 | "Blood Orange, Bitter Orange, Bergamot" | 50g ₹402 | 1kg ₹8,032 | ₹128.51 |
| Vanilla Orange Blossom | "Orange Blossom, Neroli, Mandarin" | 50g ₹415 | 1kg ₹8,294 | ₹132.70 |
| Tangerine | "Tangerine Peel, Mandarin, Bergamot" | 15g ₹199 | 1kg ₹11,999 | ₹191.98 |
Two lines in that table need a caveat rather than a click. Grapefruit Oleo is listed at 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg, but the 50 g and the 1 kg packs are currently sold out — only the 100 g bottle at ₹341 can be bought today, so it is a sampling option rather than a production one until the kilo returns. And the 100% Pure Lemon Essential Oil at ₹4,484 a kilo is an essential oil, sold in the butters and essential oils collection; it is priced here only so the comparison is complete. Essential oils and fragrance oils behave differently in wax, and the reasons are set out in fragrance oil vs essential oil for candles.
Where the per-gram price actually falls
Every one of these oils is sold in a ladder of packs, and the useful question is not "what does the kilo cost" but "at which rung does my money start working harder". The answer is genuinely different per bottle. On some, the drop happens between 15 g and 50 g and then almost stops. On others, nothing happens until the kilo. On one, the ladder is flat all the way up.
| Oil | 15 g | 50 g | 100 g | 500 g | 1 kg | 100 g → 1 kg saving per candle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citrus Lemon | ₹5.43 | ₹3.40 | ₹3.00 | ₹2.84 | ₹2.83 | ₹2.69 |
| Zesty Lemon | ₹6.00 | ₹4.00 | ₹3.60 | ₹3.44 | ₹3.40 | ₹3.20 |
| Citronella | ₹9.44 | ₹7.67 | ₹7.67 | ₹2.95 | ₹2.89 | ₹76.46 |
| Verbena | ₹7.08 | ₹6.61 | ₹5.90 | ₹4.96 | ₹4.72 | ₹18.88 |
| Lemongrass and Lime | ₹7.77 | ₹6.60 | ₹5.90 | ₹5.20 | ₹5.20 | ₹11.20 |
| Juicy Orange | ₹8.40 | ₹7.58 | ₹7.49 | ₹7.50 | ₹7.50 | −₹0.14 |
The Citronella row is the one to stare at. Its 50 g and 100 g bottles are both listed at ₹7.67 a gram — dearer than Juicy Orange's 100 g — and then the 500 g pack lands at ₹2.95 and the kilo at ₹2.89. That is a 62% fall between 100 g and 500 g on a single product. If you sample Citronella at 50 g, cost your candle from that bottle and conclude the oil is expensive, you have costed the wrong rung of the ladder. The opposite trap is Juicy Orange, where the 100 g bottle at ₹7.49 a gram is fractionally better value than the kilo at ₹7.50 — buying 1 kg of it buys you continuity of supply and one fewer reorder, not a discount.
The ₹625.16 sample flight, step by step
Here is the sequence in full, with the arithmetic that makes each step worth taking. It is built for a maker who intends to sell, not for a hobbyist testing a hunch — which is why every step ends with a decision that removes a bottle from the list.
Four citrus oils worth committing to
These four cover the four places a citrus candle usually needs to sit in a range: the value workhorse, the clean modern lemon, the herbal-green alternative and the warm citrus that reads as premium. Each card shows every listed pack, the price per kilo the pack works out at, and how many 200 g candles at 8% that pack will pour — the 15 g row shows zero because 15 g is under the 16 g a single candle needs.
| Size | Price | Per kg | 200 g candles @ 8% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 gm | ₹81.42 | ₹5,428 | ≈0 |
| 50 gm | ₹170 | ₹3,400 | ≈3 |
| 100 gm | ₹300 | ₹3,000 | ≈6 |
| 500 gm | ₹1,420 | ₹2,840 | ≈31 |
| 1 kg | ₹2,832 | ₹2,832 | ≈62 |
| Size | Price | Per kg | 200 g candles @ 8% |
|---|---|---|---|

|---|---|---|---|
| 15 gm | ₹105.02 | ₹7,001.33 | ≈0 |
| 50 gm | ₹280 | ₹5,600 | ≈3 |
| 100 gm | ₹560 | ₹5,600 | ≈6 |
| 500 gm | ₹2,718 | ₹5,436 | ≈31 |
| 1 kg | ₹5,437 | ₹5,437 | ≈62 |
If your range needs an orange rather than a lemon, the decision moves to the fine-perfume shelf and the price moves with it: Juicy Orange at ₹119.98 of oil per candle, Orange no.3 at ₹128.51 and Tangerine at ₹191.98. Those three are costed listing by listing in orange candle fragrance oil wholesale in India, and the lemon shelf gets the same treatment in lemon candle fragrance oil wholesale in India.
Buying around fade, honestly
Citrus is the family buyers ask about most, and the question is always some version of "will it last". The honest answer has three parts, and none of them is a promise. First, the character that makes an oil read as citrus lives in the top notes — the lightest, most volatile part of any composition — so the balance of what you smell genuinely shifts between the open jar, the cured jar and the second burn. Second, that shift is a property of the material, not evidence that a batch is weak. Third, the things you can act on are all buying decisions you make before the wax melts. CSI publishes no burn-test data, no throw measurement and no longevity figure for any oil in this family, so nothing on this page should be read as a performance claim.
| Oil | Stated base note (verbatim) | Stated soy cure | Stated soy load | What that gives you to act on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citrus Lemon | "Tangy mandarin - lively, rounded, fresh finish" | 48–72 hours | 6–10% | All three levers published — the easiest citrus to test methodically |
| Zesty Lemon | "Clean Musk (very subtle)" | 48–72 hours | Up to 10% | A named musk base and a cure window; load ceiling but no floor |
| Lemongrass and Lime | "Subtle cedarwood, soft musk - clean, grounded, well-balanced finish" | Not stated | 6–10% of total wax weight | The most substantial published base in the lemon corner |
| Bergamot Amber | "Woody musk, smooth vanilla - cosy, grounding, long-lasting" | 48–72 hours | 6–10% | Amber and vanilla in the base; also the widest wax-melt band at 12% |
| Juicy Orange | "White Musk, Soft Amber - as it dries down, the musk and amber anchor the citrus" | 48–72 hours | 8–10% soy wax | A perfume-grade structure with a stated candle load |
| Tangerine | "White Musk, Soft Amber, Light Woods" | Not stated | Not stated for candles | Written as a perfume oil — the candle percentage is yours to establish |
Read that table as a buying instruction rather than a ranking. An oil with a published base note is telling you what is still in the room when the zest has gone; an oil with a published cure window is telling you how long to wait before you judge it; an oil with a published load range is telling you where the headroom is if the first pour is quiet. Tangerine publishes none of the three for candles — its page is written for perfumery, recommending it "worn as EDT or fresh EDP (15–20%)" — which does not make it a bad candle oil, but it does mean you are establishing the percentage yourself rather than following a published one. The mechanism behind all of this, and what to do when a citrus candle disappoints, is set out at length in why citrus fragrances fade in candles.
Wax, load and the lower of two ceilings
Every citrus oil here states a load. Every CSI container wax either states one or states nothing. When both publish a number, use the smaller one; when the wax is silent, use the oil's number and stay at the bottom of its range for the first pour. The table below sets the four container waxes against the citrus loads, with the wax cost inside the same 200 g candle so you can see the whole materials line at once.
| Wax | 1 kg price | Stated load | Effective ceiling with a 6–10% citrus oil | Wax in a 200 g candle (184 g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eco Soy CSI 400 | ₹399 | Not stated (add at 80–90°C, stir 2 minutes) | The oil's number — so 10% | ₹73.42 |
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 | ₹507.40 | Up to 10% | 10% — both agree | ₹93.36 |
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | ₹599 | Up to 13% · 8–13% · 10% recommended | 10% — the oil is the limit here | ₹110.22 |
| Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 | ₹650 | Up to 13% (melt 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C) | 10% — the oil is the limit here | ₹119.60 |
| Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets | ₹354 | Not stated | 6–8%, which is what the citrus pages state for paraffin | ₹65.14 |
Put the two halves together and the picture for a 200 g citrus candle is clear. On Eco Soy CSI 400 with Citrus Lemon at 8%, wax and oil together are ₹73.42 + ₹45.31 = ₹118.73. On Luxury Soy Wax Chunks with Bergamot Amber, the same candle is ₹110.22 + ₹86.99 = ₹197.21. That ₹78.48 gap is the whole distance between a value citrus candle and a premium one, before a jar, a wick or a label has been added. Which wax suits which fragrance family more broadly is covered in the best fragrance oils for soy wax candles.
How to verify a citrus oil before you buy
Everything in this guide comes from two places: the product page and your own burn test. Neither is optional and neither is sufficient alone. Before a kilo goes in the basket, run this five-point check — it takes about ten minutes per oil on a phone and saves whole production runs.
| Check | What a good answer looks like | What to do if the page is silent |
|---|---|---|
| A stated candle load | A range, not a single number: "6-10% for soy wax candles" | Start at 6%, pour a second jar at 8%, and let the cured burn decide |
| A stated cure window | "Cure time - 48 to 72 hours" or similar, given per wax type | Use 72 hours as a floor and a 14-day re-check as the real reading |
| A stated vanillin figure | "Vanillin content 0%" or "Approximately 0%" if you pour white wax | Pour one test jar in your actual wax and leave it in daylight for a fortnight |
| A stated flash point | A measured value in °C or °F on the page itself | Ask for the SDS on WhatsApp — never borrow a number from a similar scent |
| A named base note | Something you can smell after two hours: musk, amber, cedarwood, mandarin | Assume the candle is a top-note candle and price and describe it as one |
The flash-point row deserves its own sentence, because it is where citrus buyers most often go wrong. Across the CSI fragrance range, 18 pages state a measured flash point; in this shortlist that means Verbena at 200°C and Citronella at 270°F, and nothing else. A large number of perfume-grade pages carry the line "Flash point > 93°C (suitable for alcohol-based products)", which is a threshold for alcohol formulation, not a measured value for your wax — do not convert it into a number. And the Zesty Lemon page says plainly that its flash point is available on request through the SDS. If you need a document before a purchase order, ask for it on WhatsApp; CSI supplies SDS and IFRA documentation on request, and this page does not assert that any particular certificate exists for any particular oil.
Ordering above the 1 kg pack
One kilogram is the largest fragrance-oil pack CSI lists. There is no 5 kg or 10 kg button on any citrus page, and this guide will not invent one. What the listed packs do tell you is the ceiling price for a larger order: if you need 4 kg of Citrus Lemon, four listed kilos come to ₹11,328, and that is the number a quote should be measured against rather than a number you should assume you will pay.
| Requirement | Built from listed packs | Listed cost | 200 g candles at 8% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 kg Citrus Lemon | 2 × 1 kg ₹2,832 | ₹5,664 | 125 |
| 3 kg Zesty Lemon | 3 × 1 kg ₹3,400 | ₹10,200 | 187 |
| 4 kg Citrus Lemon | 4 × 1 kg ₹2,832 | ₹11,328 | 250 |
| 5 kg Verbena | 5 × 1 kg ₹4,720 | ₹23,600 | 312 |
| 2.5 kg Bergamot Amber | 2 × 1 kg ₹5,437 + 1 × 500 g ₹2,718 | ₹13,592 | 156 |
Above those quantities — or for a recurring monthly requirement, a GST invoice against a purchase order, or SDS and IFRA documentation to hand to a retailer — the route is the WhatsApp bulk line on +91 7397976926. CSI does not publish a price for quantities it does not list, and no figure on this page should be read as a forecast of what a quote will say. If you are sizing a first production run before you talk to anyone, how much fragrance oil is needed for 500 candles does the kilogram arithmetic, and buying 1 kg of candle fragrance oil in India covers the pack itself.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials; it does not make or sell finished candles, and it does not blend the fine-perfume oils it stocks. The honest consequence for a citrus buyer is this: we would earn more by sending you straight to a kilo. We are telling you to spend ₹625.16 on six samples first, because a maker whose citrus candle sells comes back for the second kilo and the third, and a maker with 900 g of an unsold orange does not come back at all.
Every price, pack and specification here is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and linked to the product page, which is always the authority on current pricing and availability. Scent notes, loads, cure windows, vanillin figures and flash points are quoted only where the product page states them, in the page's own words. Where a page states nothing — and several of these pages state no flash point at all — this guide says so rather than filling the gap from a similar product. No burn-test data, throw measurement or longevity figure is published for these oils, so none is claimed.
For volumes above the listed 1 kg pack, recurring supply, GST invoicing, or SDS and IFRA documentation, message the bulk line on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Documentation is supplied on request; this guide makes no claim about what any individual document contains.

Loads are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Candle maths assumes fragrance load as a percentage of finished candle weight (200 g at 8% = 184 g wax + 16 g oil; at 10% = 180 g wax + 20 g oil). Per-gram figures are pack price ÷ pack grams. Candles per kilo = 1,000 ÷ 16 rounded down. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
