CSI Wick Decisions · 2,000 Candles
Two thousand wicks are 5.5% of what 2,000 candles cost. The risk is not the wick order; it is the candles poured before the wick is proven. Test first, buy at the gate, pour after.

Quick answers — read this first
I have 2,000 candles planned. Should I finish replicate burn tests before buying 2,000 production wicks? Yes. Six replicate candles cost ₹1,314.92 in wax, oil and wicks. Two thousand Eco C2 wicks cost ₹18,880.00; two thousand Cotton Braided, ₹24,000.00. And the wicks are only 5.5% of what 2,000 candles' wax, oil and wicks cost (₹3,50,979.20).

So what's the real risk? Not the wicks: the candles. Start pouring on one good candle, and by the time the replicates finish you could have 1,200 candles, ₹2,10,360.96 of wax, oil and wick, on a wick that fails.

Does waiting cost me a discount? No. CSI's C1, C2 and Cotton Braided cost the same per wick at every pack, so there's nothing to lose by buying the test pack now and the production wicks after the gate.

What's the plan? Test packs now (₹212.40 with a fallback rung); six replicates over about 17 days; then 2,040 wicks, in one lot or two tranches; pour; burn three retained candles from day one. In the worked calendar, 2,000 candles are poured by 25 November.
The short answer
Verdict: complete the replicates before you buy production wicks, and, more important, before you pour production candles.
Cost of testing: ₹1,314.92 for six replicates, 0.37% of the ₹3,50,979.20 materials bill for 2,000 candles.
Cost of not testing: ₹2,10,360.96 of materials in 1,200 candles poured in the 12 working days the replicates take, plus your jars and labour.
Staging: test packs → replicate gate → 2,040 production wicks (₹19,257.60 for C2) → pour → retained candles from day one. Flat per-wick pricing means staging costs nothing per wick.
2,000 candles: test first, then buy Worked-example calendar from 7 October 2026. Dispatch time and rates are yours to confirm. 7 Oct 24 Oct 3 Nov 25 Nov 15 Dec Buy test packs ₹212.40 Replicate set 1 3 candles Replicate set 2 3 more Order production wicks ₹19,257.60 Pour 2,000 (100 a day) 20 working days Burn day-1 retains 3 candles Cure, QC, pack gate: every replicate passes, then order Money committed before you know the wick works Test packs ₹212.40 Replicates (wax, oil, wicks) ₹1,314.92 2,040 production wicks ₹19,257.60 1,200 candles poured early ₹2,10,360.96 The wicks are not the risk. Candles poured on an unproven wick are.
Top: a worked-example calendar for 2,000 candles. Test packs on 7 October, two replicate sets of three candles a week apart, a decision gate on 24 October, production wicks ordered after it (arrival on 2 November is an example; ask us for dispatch), pouring at 100 a day on a six-day week from 3 to 25 November, three candles from the first production day burned to the end, then cure, checks and packing well before a 15 December ship date. Bottom: the money committed before you know the wick works. The test packs and replicates are tiny; the production wicks are modest; 1,200 candles poured before the verdict are the real exposure.
Straight answer
I have 2,000 candles planned. Should I complete multiple replicate burn tests before purchasing 2,000 production wicks?
Yes, and the reason is bigger than the wicks. Two thousand Eco C2 wicks cost ₹18,880.00; even if the wick failed you'd have spare wicks, not a disaster. The disaster is 2,000 candles: in the worked example their wax, oil and wicks come to ₹3,50,979.20 before jars and labour, and a wick fault found after pouring can't be fixed without remaking the candle. So the gate is before you pour, not only before you buy. Run the replicates (six full-life candles on two pour dates is the cluster's standard for a product of this size: the count and why are in the replicate post), which costs about ₹1,314.92 and 17 days. Then stage the purchase: test packs now; production wicks the day the last replicate passes, either all 2,040 at once if one lot matters more to you than cash, or in two tranches; pouring after the wicks arrive; and three candles from the first production day burned to the end while the rest are made. CSI's tabbed wicks cost the same per wick at every pack, so waiting costs no discount, and you should not buy 2,000 of anything from us until the test says so.
One line: replicates cost ₹1,314.92; 1,200 candles poured on an unproven wick cost ₹2,10,360.96. Test first, buy at the gate, pour after.
Test packs for a 2,000-candle decision: an Eco C2 10-pack (₹94.40) for six replicates and an Eco C1 20-pack (₹118.00) as the rung below, ₹212.40 together. With 100 g of Woody Oud and 1.5 kg of CSI 464 the replicates come to ₹1,314.92. All in stock on 7 October 2026.
Eco C2 10-pack — ₹94.40

Your order, made precise

Two thousand candles is a commitment. Two thousand wicks is the smallest part of it.

The worked example, labelled: 2,000 single-wick candles of 200 g at 8% (16 g of Woody Oud and 184 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, load as a percentage of total weight) in your own jar, on Eco C2, which passed one full-life candle after Cotton Braided sooted. You pour about 100 a day on a six-day week, and the order ships on 15 December (a worked-example date). You want to know whether to buy the wicks now, while you finish testing, or after.

Three numbers frame it. The wicks the title asks about: ₹18,880.00 for two C2 1,000-packs, ₹24,000.00 if your wick is Cotton Braided. The candles' wax, oil and wicks: ₹3,50,979.20, of which the wicks are 5.5%. And the replicate test: ₹1,314.92. The question isn't really "should I risk ₹18,880.00 of wicks"; it's "should I risk ₹3,50,979.20 of candles on one good burn". Put that way, it answers itself.

Safety first, plainly: at 2,000 candles, a wick fault is a fault in 2,000 homes. Oud and other heavy oils commonly build carbon on a wick (a tendency, not CSI data), and an over-wicked candle that runs the glass hot near the bottom is a safety problem before it's a quality one. During every replicate, stop any session where the flame smokes continuously, approaches the glass or burns near the base, and record it as a fail. Never judge glass heat by touch: use your own non-contact thermometer (CSI lists none). No test makes a candle "safe" or "soot-free".

What's actually at risk: wicks, materials, candles

The wick bill is small. What you pour around the wick is not.
The 2,000-candle bill · wax, oil and wicks
CSI live pricing, 7 October 2026, all in stock · own jars · excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST · worked example
Line Quantity Packs ₹ Per candle
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 368 kg 36 × 10 kg + 8 × 1 kg ₹1,86,723.20 ₹93.36
Woody Oud Fragrance Oil 32 kg 32 × 1 kg ₹1,44,998.40 ₹72.50
Eco C2 wicks, + 2% allowance 2,040 2 × 1,000 + 2 × 20 ₹19,257.60 ₹9.44
Total ₹3,50,979.20 ₹175.30
Wicks as a share 5.5% of the bill
If the wick is Cotton Braided 2,040 2 × 1,000 + 4 × 10 ₹24,480.00 ₹12.00

Now the timing question. Suppose you trust the one good candle, buy everything on 9 October, and start pouring on Monday 12 October while the replicates run. By 24 October, the day the last replicate finishes, that's 12 working days at 100 a day: 1,200 candles, ₹2,10,360.96 of wax, oil and wick, plus jars, labels and labour. If a replicate fails, those candles carry the fault. Against that, the replicates cost ₹1,314.92: the exposure is about 160 times the test.

Buy wicks now, or after the gate?
Same per-wick price either way (C1, C2 and Cotton Braided are flat per wick) · our judgement
Choice Wick cost If a replicate fails What it buys you
Buy 2,000 C2 now, pour now ₹18,880.00 Up to 1,200 candles to remake, plus spare wicks of the wrong size About two weeks
Buy 2,000 C2 now, pour after the gate ₹18,880.00 Spare wicks of a size you may still use elsewhere; no candles lost Wicks on the shelf earlier; no price advantage
Test packs now, wicks at the gate (recommended) ₹212.40 now, ₹19,257.60 later ₹212.40 of test wicks; the next rung already in hand The right wick, bought once

Argued against our own interest: the middle row is the only case where buying early is defensible, and only if dispatch time genuinely threatens your ship date. We don't publish lead times, so ask us on WhatsApp before you assume you need to. One more honest point: the two 1,000-packs may not share a lot, whenever you buy them. Ask, and compare packs as they're opened (comparing a new bulk lot against the development sample).

What goes wrong between one good candle and 2,000: causes, ranked

Scale changes the candle. The wick has to pass the candle you'll actually make.

The ranking is our judgement of what most often turns a one-candle pass into a production fault on a 2,000-candle run; signs are common observations, not CSI burn data.

Cause ranking · passed one candle, may fail at 2,000
Formulation, making and materials first; burning habits last · ₹ CSI live pricing, 7 October 2026
Cause What you'd see Discriminating test Fix Cost
1. The wick is at the edge (formulation: wick for this jar and oil) Replicates scatter around a limit, worst in the bottom third or on a warm day Six replicates on two pour dates Load inside Woody Oud's 6–10%, or the next rung (C1 20-pack in hand) ₹1,314.92
2. Centring at speed (making: production) One-sided pools, leaning flames, soot on one side of the glass in some candles Tab position in retained production candles Hold every wick until set; enough holders ₹1,180.00 for 50 holders
3. Batch scale (making: melt, hold, pour) Big melts held hot for hours; pour temperature drifting through the day Retained candles from the first and last pour of a day Pour inside the wax page's 80–90°C; log it Your thermometer
4. Wick lot across packs (materials) Candles from the second 1,000-pack burn taller or mushroom more Incoming comparison against retained wicks (6994) Ask about lots; compare before release Twenty wicks kept back
5. Oil or wax lot across 32 kg / 368 kg (materials) A change partway through production Second replicate set from a production bag; retains per lot Record lots per batch Nothing extra
6. Customers' rooms and habits (burning) Complaints of soot from homes with fans or AC; long burns Still-air protocol in tests; care label Care instructions; a correct wick first Nothing

Causes 2 and 3 are why a 2,000-candle run needs more than replicates: they don't exist when you pour six candles at a kitchen table. That's the job of the retained candles from the first production day. Cause 4 is why your specification to us matters (what to specify for a wholesale wick order) and why every pack should be checked as it's opened. If you also need the full playbook for a large corporate or wedding order, our bulk-order series covers capacity and staffing; this post stays with the wick.

Don't do this. Don't buy 2,000 wicks on one good candle; the 1,000-packs (₹9,440.00 for C2, ₹12,000.00 for Cotton Braided) carry no per-wick saving. Don't start pouring "while the replicates finish": that's the ₹2,10,360.96 line. Don't switch to a cheaper wick at order time because it saves money at 2,000 units; only the wick that passed is approved. Don't mix wicks from two packs on one production day without labelling which candles got which. And don't skip the day-one retains because the replicates passed: they test your production, not the wick. A published case of the opposite order is 5,000 replacement wicks bought before testing.

The staged plan: gates, candles and the approval rule

Four gates. Money moves only when the one before it is passed.
1
Gate 0, 7 October: buy test packs onlyEco C2 10-pack and Eco C1 20-pack (₹212.40), 100 g Woody Oud and 1.5 kg CSI 464 if you don't hold them. Write your limits and the rule "one fail fails the wick" before anything is poured.
2
Gate 1, 8–24 October: six replicates on two pour datesThree candles poured 8 October, three on 15 October, each cured at least 3 days (Woody Oud's page: "Cure soy wax candles for 48-72 hours before burn testing"), burned in 4-hour sessions to about 1 cm left (7 sessions at about 7 g an hour), top, middle and bottom judged separately. Decision on 24 October.
3
Gate 2, at the verdict: order production wicks, wax and oilAll six pass: order 2,040 C2 (₹19,257.60), 368 kg of wax and 32 kg of oil, and ask about lots and dispatch on WhatsApp. One fails: don't order; test the next rung or the load, and move the calendar.
4
Gate 3, before opening each wick pack: compare itTen wicks from the pack against your retained replicate wicks: length, tab, braid (method in 6994). Release the pack only if it matches.
5
Gate 4, from day one of production: burn retained candlesPull 3 candles from the first day (first, middle and last pour), cure 3 days, burn to the end. In the worked calendar they finish on 12 November, when about 900 candles are poured. A fail stops pouring until you know why.
6
Keep the evidenceThe approved pack's spare wicks and twenty from the first production pack, sealed and labelled, and two finished candles per production day; they settle complaints later (keeping an approved reference sample).
The approval rule (ours, labelled)
Before buying production wicks: all six replicates pass every written limit in every third, in 4-hour sessions in still air, and their worst readings don't sit at a limit. Before releasing production candles: the three day-one retains pass the same limits, and every wick pack opened has matched the retained wicks. One fail at either gate stops the next spend. An in-house protocol, not an industry standard.
The worked calendar · from 7 October 2026
Dispatch and delivery times are examples (CSI publishes none) · six-day week · 15 December is a worked-example ship date
Dates Step Money that moves
7 October Test packs, replicate oil and wax ₹1,432.92 including the C1 fallback pack
8–24 October Six replicates, two pour dates Nothing more
24–26 October Gate: verdict, then order ₹3,50,979.20 (wax, oil, wicks)
3–25 November Pour 2,000 at 100 a day: 20 working days, skipping 3 Sundays (Diwali, 8 November, falls on one) Jars, labour: yours
6–12 November Day-one retains burned to the end Nothing
to 4 December Cure, checks, pack Packaging: yours
15 December Ship 20 days of slack from the last pour

If your deadline is Diwali rather than December, it's 32 days from 7 October 2026, and the arithmetic is unkind: a 17-day replicate test leaves about two weeks to pour, cure and dispatch 2,000 candles. Don't solve that by skipping the test; solve it with a smaller first delivery, or a date you can keep. The emergency version of this decision, for a 1,000-candle order, is an emergency replacement wick for a corporate order.

The CSI wick buy list: test packs, then production

Our wick range is short, and our prices are flat. Both make staging easy.

CSI's sized, tabbed wicks are three rungs, C1 → C2 → Cotton Braided, plus one wooden width (Performance Wooden Wicks, ₹59.00 each in 10s, ₹41.30 in 100s, the only tabbed wick here that gets cheaper in bulk). There's no sized, tabbed wick between the rungs. If your replicates put C2 at the edge, the C1 20-pack in your test order is the next thing to try, and if C1 tunnels, the honest options are a pair of smaller wicks, a formula change, or a question on WhatsApp.

One order or two tranches? Same per-wick price either way. One order after the gate gives you the best chance of fewer lots across the run (ask us; we won't promise one lot), and one delivery. Two tranches keep ₹9,817.60 in your account until the first 1,000 candles have shown the wick behaves in production. If cash is tight, tranche; if lot continuity matters more, one order. Either way, neither happens before the replicates pass. For how this turns into a recurring order with safety stock, see the wholesale quantity formula and six months of stock or frequent reorders; for the published version of the bulk-buying gate, buying 1,000 wicks only after every major fragrance has passed.

Planning a 2,000-candle run for December? Order the test packs this week, and when your last replicate passes, send us the full list on WhatsApp (368 kg CSI 464, 32 kg oil, 2,040 wicks) for a quote, dispatch dates and a GST invoice. We'll tell you plainly what we can and can't confirm about lots.

The worked example's wick is C2. Buy the 10-pack (₹94.40) for the replicates and, in the same order, a C1 20-pack (₹118.00) as the rung below in case C2 sits at the edge: it costs little and saves a week of waiting if you need it. After the gate, 2,040 C2 is 2 × 1,000 + 2 × 20 for ₹19,257.60. In the text we captured the page states no length, width or jar range; its "minimal soot or smoke" is the page's claim. Argued against our own interest: C1 ₹5.90 and C2 ₹9.44 a wick at every pack, so buying 2,000 today buys no discount, only risk.

Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
If Cotton Braided is the wick that passed, the same staging applies: the 10-pack (₹120.00) for replicates, then 2,040 for ₹24,480.00 after the gate. The page says "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm" and "Height of the wick is 10.16 cm". At 2,000 candles the gap between Cotton Braided and C2 is ₹5,222.40, real money, but only if C2 passes in your jar; never switch for the saving. Limitation: it is the top sized, tabbed rung CSI lists, so a candle that needs more wick has nowhere to go but a pair.

Woody Oud Fragrance Oil
The worked example's oil, and a reason to replicate properly: oud and resinous oils commonly build more carbon on a wick than light oils (a tendency, not CSI data). The page describes "citrus and spice top notes opening into rich oud and patchouli heart, settling into warm woody notes, amber, and musk", states "candles (6-10%)" and says "Cure soy wax candles for 48-72 hours before burn testing". It is ₹4.53 a gram at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg alike, so the replicate 100 g (₹453.12, 4 g spare) costs the same per gram as production. 32 kg for the order is ₹1,44,998.40; whether 32 bottles share a lot is a WhatsApp question. The page states "Pour Temperature 80°C – 90°C" and "Fragrance Load Up to 10%", a formulation limit. Pour the second replicate set from a production bag if one has arrived. ₹23.60 a holder, reusable. Buy 5 — ₹118.00

Skip for now: the 1,000-packs, the 10 kg wax bags and the 1 kg oils until the replicate gate; a cheaper wick "for the big order" that hasn't been through the replicates; Performance Wooden Wicks unless wood is the wick that passed (₹59.00 a wick in 10s against C2's ₹9.44); and a second oil while the wick is under test.

The CSI principle
Buy what the test needs now, and what production needs when the test has passed. Pour nothing in between.
Replicates ₹1,314.92; 2,040 C2 ₹19,257.60 at the gate; the candles, ₹3,50,979.20 of materials, only after it.

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wicks, wax, oil and holders named here, not finished candles. This page still tells you not to buy 2,000 wicks from us yet, that our big wick packs carry no per-wick saving, that wicks are a small share of your bill, and that we can't promise one lot for a whole order.

Every CSI price was checked on the live store on 7 October 2026, with stock checked per pack: the Eco C1 10-pack is out of stock and is not offered. Page wording is quoted and attributed, including Woody Oud's "candles (6-10%)" and cure line, CSI 464's pour range and load, and the Cotton Braided page's "exceeding 8 cm".

The 2,000 × 200 g order, 100 candles a day, the 12 October start, delivery on 2 November, the 15 December ship date, the 2% allowance and 7 g an hour are labelled worked examples; the replicate and approval rules are our judgement. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy production wicks before finishing burn tests?
No. Buy the smallest pack for the test and the production quantity when the last replicate passes. At CSI, C1, C2 and Cotton Braided cost the same per wick at every pack, so waiting costs no discount.
How much do 2,000 candle wicks cost?
At CSI on 7 October 2026: ₹18,880.00 for 2,000 Eco C2 (two 1,000-packs), ₹24,000.00 for Cotton Braided, ₹11,800.00 for Eco C1. Add an allowance for defects and misplacement.
What is the biggest risk in a large candle order?
Pouring before the wick is proven. In the worked example, 1,200 candles poured during a 12-day test hold ₹2,10,360.96 of wax, oil and wick, far more than the wicks themselves.
How many test candles do I need before a 2,000-candle order?
Six full-life replicates on two pour dates is the cluster's standard for a product of this size, plus three candles from the first production day burned while you produce.
Can all my wicks come from the same lot?
Ask your supplier before ordering. At CSI, ask on WhatsApp; we'll answer honestly but can't promise one lot for a whole order, so compare each pack against retained wicks as it's opened.
Is it cheaper to buy wicks in bulk?
Not for CSI's Eco C1, C2 or Cotton Braided: the per-wick price is the same at every pack. Performance Wooden Wicks and the braided rolls are the exceptions.
2,000 candles planned
Test packs now, six replicates, production wicks at the gate, pour after.
Replicates cost ₹1,314.92; 2,040 Eco C2 cost ₹19,257.60 when they've passed. If C2 sits at the edge in your jar, tell us on WhatsApp; we'll say plainly what we stock between the rungs, and what we don't.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: part of CSI's cluster on moving from a failed wick to the correct CSI wick and a bulk purchase (6981–7000). It covers whether to complete replicate burn tests before buying wicks for 2,000 candles: the bill and the wick share, the exposure of pouring early, causes ranked, a four-gate staged plan with an in-house approval rule and a worked calendar, a test-then-production wick buy list and the one-order-or-tranches choice.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on the product pages named on each card — Eco Candle Wicks, Soy Pillar Wax (Specially made for Pillar and Designer Candles), Woody Oud Fragrance Oil. They are general product reviews, not assessments of the burn and wick advice on this page. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Subhankar Roy, Monika Deep, Payal Patel, Renam Dhoundiyal, Dipali Sable. Non-price figures: "2,000 candles" and "2,000 production wicks" are the reader's figures (title). The 200 g candle at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax, total-weight basis) is the series default, labelled. 100 candles a day, a six-day week, the 12 October early start, delivery on 2 November, the 15 December ship date, the 2% allowance, 7 g an hour and a 20 g floor are labelled worked examples. Material totals exclude any loss allowance on wax and oil; add your own. Replicate counts and approval gates are our judgement. Rules of thumb: 5–6 mm trim, 1 cm floor, 48–72 hours' cure for soy (stated on Woody Oud's page). Wax ceiling and oil load as the pages state (CSI 464 up to 10%; Woody Oud 6–10% for candles), formulation limits. Costs exclude labour, jars, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact; it falls on a Sunday.
