CSI's Eco C2 costs ₹9.44 a wick whether you buy 100 or 1,000, so there is no price reason to buy the carton early. Gate the 1,000 on full-life passes for the oils that will use most of it and the heaviest oil on the wick.
₹9.44
per Eco C2 wick in the 100-pack and the 1,000-pack alike · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I buy 1,000 wicks only after every major fragrance on that wick has passed full burn testing? Yes, for the major ones, and there is no price reason to do otherwise: CSI's Eco C2 1,000-pack is ₹9,440.00, ₹9.44 a wick, exactly what the 100-pack costs (₹9.44). Buy a 100-pack for the tests and the 900 after the gate.

Which oils count as "major"? Our rule of thumb: every oil planned to use 10% or more of those wicks, plus the heaviest oil on that wick whatever its share. Each must pass full life (two candles to about 1 cm left) on that wick in that jar. Minor oils need a two-candle screen and must finish full life before their own production pour.

How long does the gate take? In our worked example 7 days of cure plus 7 one-a-day sessions: 14 days. Started on 29 September 2026, that is 13 October, leaving 26 days before Diwali (8 November 2026).

What does buying early risk? Rarely the wicks: they cost ₹9.44 each and other builds can use them. The real risk is pouring production on an unproven build. In our worked example 200 Dark Vanilla candles hold ₹53,204.24 of materials against ₹1,888.00 of wicks.
The short answer
The verdict: gate the 1,000-wick order on full-life passes for the oils that will use most of it, plus the heaviest oil on the wick. Until then, buy the 100-pack.
The money: C2 is ₹9.44 a wick in every pack from 10 to 1,000; C1 is ₹5.90 in every in-stock pack (10-pack out of stock). Gating costs nothing in price; one 100-pack now and 900 later total ₹9,440.00, the same as one 1,000-pack.
The gate (judgement): class A (10% or more of the wicks) and class H (heaviest oil) passed full life; class B screened; jar lot measured; your results written down.
The honest limit: CSI publishes no wick-performance data and its range is short (C1, C2, Cotton Braided); the gate is your own data, in your own jar.
Same ₹9.44 a wick: the only thing early buying changes is risk Day 0 = 29 September 2026, to scale (14.5 px per day). Cure and session counts are a worked example; your own grams-per-hour sets the real clock. day 0 day 5 day 10 day 15 day 20 day 25 day 30 day 35 day 40 29 Sep 13 Oct 8 Nov · Diwali Gate candles (16): pour, cure, burn to about 1 cm left cure 7 days 7 sessions × 3 h GATE: majors + heaviest oil passed? 26 days of production and cure before Diwali Lane A · buy 1,000 now ₹9,440.00 on day 0 · ₹9.44 a wick 984 wicks wait on the gate result Lane B · gate first ₹944.00 on day 0 (100-pack) 16 gate candles + 84 spare ₹8,496.00 on day 14 (500 + 4 × 100) · total ₹9,440.00 Dispatch time is not published: confirm on WhatsApp first.
Two ways to buy the same 1,000 Eco C2 wicks, on a 40-day clock to Diwali drawn to scale. Lane A pays ₹9,440.00 on day 0; Lane B pays ₹944.00 on day 0 and ₹8,496.00 after the gate on day 14. Same total, same ₹9.44 a wick; only Lane B buys with full-life results in hand. The cure length and session count are a worked example.
Straight answer
I'm buying 1,000 wicks for production. Should I bulk-buy one size only after every major fragrance using that wick has passed full burn testing?
Yes, and on CSI wicks it costs you nothing to wait. The Eco C2 1,000-pack is ₹9,440.00, which is ₹9.44 a wick; the 100-pack is ₹944.00, also ₹9.44 a wick. So buy one 100-pack, run the gate with it, and buy the other 900 the day the gate passes. "Major" means the oils that will use most of the order: as a working rule, every oil planned for 10% or more of those wicks, plus the heaviest oil on the wick regardless of share, because it is the one most likely to need a different build. Each must have passed full life, two candles burned to about 1 cm left, on that wick, in that jar, at that load. Minor oils may ride on the order after a two-candle screen, as long as their full-life burns finish before their own production pour. The gate is really about the pour, not the wicks: a C2 wick that turns out wrong for one oil can serve another build, but 200 candles poured on a failing build cannot be unpoured.
One line: same ₹9.44 a wick at 100 or 1,000, so buy the 1,000 after the major oils and the heaviest oil have passed full life, not before.
Before the gate, buy only this: one Eco C2 100-pack (₹944.00) for 16 gate candles and 84 spare. If your production wick is C1, the C1 20-pack (₹118.00) or 50-pack does the same job; the C1 10-pack is out of stock on 29 September 2026.
Eco C2 100 — ₹944.00

There is no price reason to buy early

If the big carton isn't cheaper per wick, the only thing it buys early is risk.

Most bulk decisions trade risk for price: commit early, pay less per unit. On CSI's Eco wicks that trade does not exist. Every C2 pack from 10 to 1,000 works out to the same per wick, and every in-stock C1 pack does too.

Eco Candle Wicks · per wick by pack · CSI live pricing, 29 September 2026
Price ÷ wicks · two decimals · declared
Pack C2 price C2 per wick C1 price C1 per wick
10 ₹94.40 ₹9.44 ₹59.00 (out of stock) —
20 ₹188.80 ₹9.44 ₹118.00 ₹5.90
50 ₹472.00 ₹9.44 ₹295.00 ₹5.90
100 ₹944.00 ₹9.44 ₹590.00 ₹5.90
500 ₹4,720.00 ₹9.44 ₹2,950.00 ₹5.90
1,000 ₹9,440.00 ₹9.44 ₹5,900.00 ₹5.90

So the gate path costs exactly what the carton costs. One 100-pack now and the other 900 later (a 500-pack and four 100-packs, ₹8,496.00) total ₹9,440.00; ten 100-packs total ₹9,440.00. If you would rather finish with a single carton, a 100-pack now and the 1,000-pack after the gate is 1,100 wicks for ₹10,384.00, still ₹9.44 a wick, with 100 spare for retests. Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made behave the same way (₹12.00 a wick at every pack).

Argued against our own interest: we would happily sell you the 1,000-pack today. But its only advantages are one order instead of two and stock in your hands before the festive rush, and both can be had by messaging us before your gate date. There is no discount you lose by waiting.

Two non-price reasons to buy early do exist, and you should weigh them honestly. Availability: stock can change, and before Diwali you may want wicks in hand; ask us on WhatsApp to confirm stock and dispatch before your gate date rather than buying blind. Freight: one shipment may cost less than two, but CSI does not publish freight, so ask before assuming. Neither is a reason to pour production before the gate.

Which oils must pass before the order

Not every oil. The ones that will burn most of the carton, and the one most likely to break the rule.

"Every major fragrance" needs a definition you can write on the batch sheet. Here is ours, labelled as judgement: class A is any oil planned for 10% or more of the order; class H is the heaviest oil on the wick, whatever its share, judged from stated notes, family and page-stated vanillin; class B is everything else. A and H must pass full life before the order; B may ride on the order after a two-candle screen, if their combined share is small (we use 20% or less) and their full life finishes before their own pour.

Our worked example is a Diwali range of eight oils on Eco C2 in the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram), Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at 8% (150 g = 12 g oil + 138 g wax), with planned candle counts that add up to the 1,000 wicks.

Worked example · 1,000 C2 wicks across eight oils
7 cm jar · CSI 464 at 8% · one wick per candle · planned counts illustrative · loads as the oil pages state them
Oil Page candle load Planned candles = wicks Share Class Needed before the 1,000 order
Dark Vanilla candles (6-10%) 200 20% A + heavy (page: "Vanillin present") Full life, 2 candles, passed
Roasted Coffee candles (6-10%) 150 15% A Full life, 2 candles, passed
Apple Cinnamon 6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax 150 15% A Full life, 2 candles, passed
Woody Oud candles (6-10%) 120 12% A Full life, 2 candles, passed
Bergamot Amber 6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax 120 12% A Full life, 2 candles, passed
Pumpkin Spice Recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles 100 10% A Full life, 2 candles, passed
Cinnamon Vanilla Up to 13% load for candles 80 8% H (page: "Vanillin content 2.5%") Full life, 2 candles, passed
Autumn Recommended fragrance load 7-11% for candles 80 8% B Two-candle screen through burns 1–3; full life finished before its own production pour

Six oils are class A, 840 wicks or 84% of the order. Cinnamon Vanilla is only 8% of the plan, but its page states "Vanillin content 2.5%", the highest vanillin figure stated among these eight pages (Dark Vanilla's page says "Vanillin present" without a figure). Heavier, vanillin-rich oils commonly behave differently on a wick (a tendency, not CSI data), so the oil that is most likely to need another build gets a full-life pass whatever its share. Autumn (8%) is class B. Its page states "Recommended fragrance load 7-11% for candles"; on CSI 464 the wax page's "up to 10%" is the lower ceiling and governs, and 8% sits inside both.

"Heaviest" is a judgement: write down why
We rank on what the pages state (vanillin, family, notes), never on throw claims. If you have your own evidence, say a coffee that carbons more than any vanilla in your earlier brackets, the oil with the worst record on this wick is your class H. The point is that the riskiest oil cannot slip through the gate on a small share.

Which oils deserve a 1 kg oil order in the first place is a different decision, made with different numbers: the fragrance purchase-size post. This page gates the wick carton only.

The purchase gate, written down

If the gate is not on paper, it opens the day the courier offer arrives.
The 1,000-wick purchase gate · our judgement, labelled
All five lines must be true for this wick, this jar, this wax and this load · otherwise buy another 100-pack
Line Condition Evidence you keep
1. Class A passed Every oil at 10% or more of the order: two candles burned to about 1 cm left, both passing your limits Session logs: hours to full pool, depth, trimmed flame, carbon, soot, flame-to-glass distance
2. Class H passed The heaviest oil on the wick: the same full-life pass As above, plus why you ranked it heaviest
3. Class B screened Two candles through burns 1–3 with no fail; combined share 20% or less; full life scheduled to finish before each one's production pour Screen log and the calendar date of each oil's first pour
4. Same jar, same lot The gate candles were poured in the production jar, from a lot measured inside at two or three heights Inside diameters of three jars from the lot
5. Bracket closed For each class A oil, the wick sits between a documented under on one side and an over on the other, or CSI's range has no further rung (say so) The bracket record (see the closure rule in the adjacent-sizes post)

Line 5 stops a common short cut: passing C2 for every oil without ever having seen what C1 or Cotton Braided does in the same jar. A gate on an open bracket proves the wick works, not that it is the right one, and a 1,000-wick order makes that question expensive to reopen. "Pass" means whatever limits you set before the tests; many makers use about 2.5–5 cm of trimmed flame and a pool about 0.5–1 cm deep (rules of thumb), with no flame near the glass and the glass watched, never touched.

Running the gate candles

1
Pour all 16 on one dayTwo per class A and H oil (14) and two for Autumn's screen, from one wax bag, one jar lot, CSI 464 poured at 80–85°C (the jar page's 85°C hot-pour wording is the lower limit). Label bases by oil and candle.
2
Cure them togetherThe Apple Cinnamon and Bergamot Amber pages state "cure 48-72 hours" for soy; many makers wait about a week before judging. Use one cure length for all 16.
3
Weigh, burn, weighWeigh each candle before and after every 3-hour session. Your grams per hour sets the real gate date.
4
Log the same lines every sessionTime to full pool, depth at the end, trimmed flame height, carbon, soot, flame-to-glass distance, anything odd. Burn in still air, within sight, in batches you can actually watch.
5
Stop at about 1 cm left and scoreScore each oil against the gate lines. The final third decides more gates than the first burn does.
Gate candles · bill of materials · worked example
16 candles, 150 g each at 8% · oils at their 500 g per-gram prices (you already stock them for production) · CSI live pricing, 29 September 2026
Item Used Cost
Eight oils, 24 g each 192 g ₹1,010.42
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (10 kg, ₹5,074.00) 2,208 g ₹1,120.34
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) 16 jars ₹1,510.40
Eco C2 (from the 100-pack) 16 wicks (84 left) ₹151.04
Gate, materials consumed 16 candles ₹3,792.20

Costs exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. The gate costs a fraction of the carton, and as the risk section shows, a far smaller fraction of what one failed build would cost.

How long the gate takes before Diwali

A gate that ends after the festival is not a gate. It is a post-mortem.

The gate's length is cure plus full life, and full life is set by your candle's burn rate, not by a chart. Our worked example: about 125 g of the 150 g candle burns before you stop at about 1 cm left (weigh what is left in your own jar), at a measured 6 g an hour. That is about 20.8 hours, or 6 sessions of 3 hours. One session a day after a 7-day cure puts the gate at day 14: 13 October 2026, if the candles are poured on 29 September 2026.

Diwali is 8 November 2026, 40 days from 29 September 2026, which leaves 26 days after the gate for the order to arrive, production to be poured and cured, and candles to reach customers. That is tight. Two ways to keep it honest: run two sessions a day with a full cool-down between them (it halves the burn calendar, not the cure), or narrow the festive range to the oils that pass first. The full-life calendar in detail, with parallel candles, is the full-life calendar post; how far down a test candle must go before you call it is the acceptance-depth post.

Mistake: calling the gate after burn 3 because the calendar is tight. What happens: the first half of a jar is where wicks look best; heat and carbon commonly build in the final third, so a class A oil that fails late fails in your customers' homes. Fix: keep the gate at full life and shrink the range or add sessions; do not shrink the test.

What you actually risk: wicks versus candles

A wrong carton of wicks costs a few thousand rupees. A wrong production run costs the candles.

Look at the two failures side by side. If Dark Vanilla, the largest class A oil, fails on C2 after you bought 1,000 wicks, the 200 wicks planned for it are worth ₹1,888.00, and other C2 builds can use them. The worst case for the wicks alone, C2 wrong for the jar altogether, strands ₹9,288.96 of the carton after the gate candles. Now the candles: one 150 g Dark Vanilla candle carries ₹92.16 of oil, ₹70.02 of wax, a ₹94.40 jar and a ₹9.44 wick, ₹266.02 in all. Two hundred of them poured on a build that fails late hold ₹53,204.24 of materials, about 28 times the wicks.

What each failure costs · worked example
Materials only · excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST · declared
What went wrong What it strands Materials at risk Recoverable?
1,000 C2 bought, Dark Vanilla fails the gate 200 wicks planned for it ₹1,888.00 Mostly: other C2 builds use them
1,000 C2 bought, C2 wrong for the jar 984 wicks ₹9,288.96 Only if another jar uses C2
200 Dark Vanilla candles poured, build fails late 200 finished candles ₹53,204.24 No

That is why this page's answer is "gate the order" and also "gate the pour". Buying the carton early is a small risk at the same price; pouring before the gate is the big one. The wider question of which tests should pass consistently before any large raw-material order is the large-order readiness post.

Budget the consumables that ride with 1,000 wicks
If you stick tabs down with CSI's 10 mm Candle Wick Stickers, 1,000 wicks need 25 sheets of 40 (₹2,500.00, ₹2.50 a sticker); the 100-sticker sheet is out of stock on 29 September 2026. Many makers use a dab of wax or a glue dot instead; that is a choice, not a requirement.

When a major oil fails the gate

A failed gate shrinks the order. It rarely cancels it.
Gate outcomes and the order that follows · our judgement
Re-plan the carton around the oils that passed · CSI rungs: C1 → C2 → Cotton Braided
Gate result Order now For the failed oil
All class A and H pass, B screened The other 900 C2 (₹8,496.00), or a 1,000-pack —
One class A oil fails under (small pool, carbon) C2 for the oils that passed only: e.g. 800 planned less what the 100-pack still holds Bracket one rung up (Cotton Braided, ₹12.00 a wick, ₹2.56 more than C2) in this jar; its own gate before its own order
One class A oil fails over (big flame, heat late) As above Bracket one rung down (C1); if it sits between C1 and C2, CSI lists no sized, tabbed wick there: say so and ask us, or use another supplier
Class H fails, class A passes C2 for class A and B Drop the oil from the festive range or bracket it separately; do not let it ride on C2
Several oils fail the same way Nothing yet The wick, wax or jar is wrong for the range, not each oil; re-bracket with one representative from each failure
Argued against our own interest: if two or three class A oils fail on C2, the right purchase may be a smaller C2 order plus a 10-pack of Cotton Braided to bracket, or nothing at all until the bracket is redone. A short wick range is a real limit; we would rather you hear it from us before the carton arrives.

Whether the range should run on fewer wick SKUs at all is the SKU-consolidation audit; how many sizes each oil should be tested on before narrowing is the sizes-per-fragrance post; grouping oils into behaviour groups that share a wick is the behaviour-group post. And the jar side of the same question, finalising the wick before a 500-jar order, is the 500-jar post.

Buying around the gate

Five items, chosen on page wording, price and stock on 29 September 2026. CSI publishes no wick-performance data, so nothing is ranked on burn results; oil yields assume 12 g per 150 g candle.

fragrance oil · spiced gourmand · the heaviest oil on the wick
Cinnamon Vanilla
The oil this plan flags as class H despite a small share: its page states "Vanillin content 2.5%" (vanillin is one common indicator of a demanding oil, not the only one) and "Up to 13% load for candles". On CSI 464 the wax page's "up to 10%" governs, the lower of the two ceilings; 8% sits inside both. Notes: "cinnamon and clove top notes, vanilla bean and sugar middle notes, and cream and butter base". Two gate candles need 24 g, so the 50 g bottle covers them with 26 g left. A gate is only valid for the jar it was run in, so run it in the production jar. This one's page states a "150g fill capacity", "outer diameter 7cm" with base about 6.5 cm, and "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C"; with CSI 464 (pour 80–90°C) that means 80–85°C. The pack price is flat per jar. Measure the inside of a few jars from your batch before the gate, because a gate passed in a different lot of glass is a gate passed in a different jar.

The CSI principle
Same price per wick, so buy with results in hand.
The 1,000-pack waits for full-life passes from the oils that will burn most of it and from the heaviest oil on the wick. The 100-pack runs the gate. The pour waits for the gate too.

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wicks, jars, oils and wax named here, including the 1,000-wick cartons, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you to buy the 100-pack first, because the carton is no cheaper per wick, and that a failed gate may mean buying less from us.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 29 September 2026, with stock checked per size: the Eco C1 10-pack and the 100-sticker wick sheet are out of stock on that date and flagged where they appear; every other size shown is in stock. Load, vanillin, cure and temperature wording is quoted from the product pages.

The gate classes, the 10% and 20% thresholds, the burn rate, the cure length and the planned counts are our judgement or worked examples; flame and depth figures are commonly cited rules of thumb, and CSI publishes no wick-performance data. Frequently asked questions

Is it cheaper to buy 1,000 candle wicks at once?
Not with CSI's Eco wicks: C2 is ₹9.44 a wick in the 1,000-pack and in the 100-pack, and C1 is ₹5.90 in the 1,000-pack and the 20-pack. Bigger packs save orders, not money per wick.
How many fragrances should pass burn testing before I buy wicks in bulk?
Every fragrance planned for a large share of those wicks (we use 10% or more) plus the heaviest oil on that wick, each with two candles burned to about 1 cm left. Smaller-share oils need at least a short screen and must finish full life before they go into production.
How long does a full burn test take for a 150 g candle?
It depends on your burn rate. In our worked example about 125 g burns at about 6 g an hour, roughly 21 hours or seven 3-hour sessions, plus the cure. Weigh your candle before and after each session to find your own figure.
Can I start production before full burn testing is finished?
Only for oils that have passed. Pouring 200 candles on an unproven build risks far more money than the wicks do; in our worked example ₹53,204.24 of materials against ₹1,888.00 of wicks.
What if one fragrance fails after I have bought the wicks?
Use the wicks for the builds that passed and bracket the failed oil one rung up or down in the same jar. If its answer falls between two of CSI's wicks, say so and ask us; another supplier may have the in-between size.
Do I need to retest if my jar batch changes before the big order?
Measure the new lot's inside diameter at two or three heights before relying on the gate. The gate holds for the jar it was run in; a changed jar lot needs its own check.
Before you order 1,000 wicks
Run the gate on a 100-pack; buy the 900 when it passes.
Mark your class A, H and B oils, pour 16 gate candles in the production jar, burn them to about 1 cm left, and score them against the five gate lines. Same ₹9.44 a wick either way. Send us your results and gate date on WhatsApp.

About this guide: part of CSI's commercial wick-matrix cluster (4281–4300): a purchase gate for a 1,000-wick order (class A, H and B oils, five gate lines, gate candles costed), the flat per-wick pricing that removes any price reason to buy early, the gate clock to Diwali, and what each failure puts at risk.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on the product pages named on each card — Cinnamon Vanilla, Dark Vanilla Fragrance, Eco Candle Wicks. They are general product reviews, not assessments of the wick advice on this page. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy, Anonymous, Sneha Tamang, Punam Sarma. Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (150 g at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax). Ceilings as the pages state (CSI 464 up to 10%, pour 80–90°C; Cinnamon Vanilla up to 13%; Autumn 7–11%; the lower ceiling governs); the jar's 85°C wording is a pour limit. The eight-oil plan, class thresholds, 125 g burned, 6 g an hour and the 7-day cure are worked examples or judgement. Flame (about 2.5–5 cm) and depth (about 0.5–1 cm) are commonly cited rules of thumb. Costs exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST.
