I'm Making 500 Candles for Corporate Gifting — Should I Offer One Fragrance or Multiple Fragrances?
Aktie
Does splitting into more scents cost more oil? Barely. On one oil, pack rounding moves the bill from ₹39,270.40 (one scent) to ₹40,592.00 (five scents of 100). The difference between splits is mostly which oils you choose, not how many.
How much oil for 500 candles? At 200 g and 8%, 16 g per candle, 8,000 g in total, plus 3–5%. That is the same whether it is one scent of 500 or five of 100.
What does the whole order cost? With Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, White Matte Glass Jars and Eco wicks: ₹1,34,606.40 for one scent (Verbena) or ₹1,37,544.60 for two (Verbena + Autumn). See the plans.
The split maths
Every candle here is 200 g at an 8% load: 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. A three-way split cannot be even, so it is 167, 167 and 166. For each split, the table takes each scent's need, adds a 3% working allowance, and finds the cheapest combination of in-stock CSI packs — all priced on the same oil, Verbena, so the only thing changing is the split. Real ranges use different oils, and the next sections price those.
| Scents | Candles per scent | Oil per scent | Oil bought | Spare | Bottles | Oil cost | Testers needed | Label SKUs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 500 | 8,000 g | 8,250 g | 250 g | 11 | ₹39,270.40 | 1 | 1 |
| 2 | 250 / 250 | 4,000 g | 8,260 g | 260 g | 14 | ₹39,364.80 | 2 | 2 |
| 3 | 167 / 167 / 166 | 2,672 g / 2,656 g | 8,280 g | 280 g | 20 | ₹40,497.60 | 3 | 3 |
| 4 | 125 each | 2,000 g | 8,260 g | 260 g | 16 | ₹39,506.40 | 4 | 4 |
| 5 | 100 each | 1,600 g | 8,250 g | 250 g | 20 | ₹40,592.00 | 5 | 5 |
The oil cost barely moves: ₹39,270.40 for one scent, ₹40,592.00 for five. That is because CSI's small packs (15 g, 50 g, 100 g) let you close each scent's gap without buying a whole extra kilo, and because for most oils 100 g and 1 kg cost almost the same per gram. The spare oil stays at around 250–300 g in every case. So if a client asks "will three scents cost more?", the honest answer on oil is: not much. The cost is elsewhere.
One scent or several: the decision
We cannot tell you what your client's recipients will prefer; we have no data on that, and nobody honestly does for a specific office. What we can do is lay out what each choice asks of you. Use this to have the conversation with the client before you buy anything.
| One scent | Two scents | Three or more | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scents to test and get signed off | 1 | 2 | 3–5 |
| Client samples before production | One set | Two sets | Three to five sets |
| Label and box SKUs | 1 | 2 | 3–5 |
| Packing error risk (wrong scent in a box) | None | Low — two clearly different scents | Grows with each scent |
| Recipient choice | None — everyone gets the same | A fresh or a warm option | Broad |
| Risk if a recipient dislikes the scent | Whole order shares it | Halved | Spread thinly |
| Stock risk on one oil | 8+ kg of one oil — confirm stock first | About 4 kg each | Under 3 kg each |
| Best when | Uniform branded gift, simple approval | Diverse recipients, a clear fresh/warm choice | Client explicitly wants a range and pays for it |
The pattern is clear: two scents is often the sweet spot for a 500-piece corporate order. It halves the risk of a scent that some recipients dislike, gives a simple story ("fresh or warm"), and keeps testing, labels and packing manageable. One scent wins when the client wants every gift identical or has a strong brand scent in mind. Three or more is a range, not a gift, and belongs in orders where the client is paying for that choice. Which Fragrances Should I Choose for a 500-Piece Candle Gift Order? covers which scents to choose for a 500-piece gift order, and Which Fragrances Should I Choose for a 1,000-Piece Corporate Candle Order? the same question at 1,000.
The risks each way
Three risks decide most corporate orders, and none of them is the oil price. Each extra scent reduces one of them and increases another, which is why there is no universally right number — only the right number for this client, this audience and your capacity to pack 500 boxes without a mistake.
Preference risk. With one scent, everyone gets the same thing, so a divisive choice — a heavy oud, a very sweet gourmand — is a risk across all 500. Corporate gifts commonly go to mixed audiences, so a single scent should be clean and broadly acceptable. With two, choose scents that are clearly different, so the choice feels real. Sensitivity. Some recipients find strong scents unpleasant. That is an argument for a moderate load and a lighter profile, not for more scents. Stock risk. The listed packs go up to 1 kg per oil, and one scent of 500 needs more than 8 kg. Confirm on WhatsApp that the quantity is available before you sign, and ask for a quote beyond the listed packs; no volume discount figure is published.
Five corporate-safe candidates
These five are chosen for corporate gifting on family and price: clean, fresh and softly warm profiles that are commonly used for mixed audiences, plus one premium option. None is chosen for measured throw, which we have not published for any oil. Per-candle costs are at 1 kg rates, since a 500-piece order buys in kilos.
| Oil | Family | 15 g tester | Oil per candle | Material cost per candle | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Verbena | Fresh herbal-citrus | ₹106.20 | ₹75.52 | ₹262.44 | Clean, unisex and rarely polarising — a safe single scent for an office gift. 20.0% cheaper per gram at 1 kg than at 100 g. |
| Honeydew Melon | Fresh fruit | ₹105.02 | ₹54.37 | ₹241.29 | Light and cheerful; the cheapest per candle of the five, with a 22.0% kilo saving. |
| White Royal Oud | Soft oud | ₹130.00 | ₹129.65 | ₹316.56 | A premium-reading warm option for senior recipients or a leadership tier. |
| Ylang Ylang Flower | Floral | ₹106.20 | ₹84.96 | ₹271.88 | A soft floral for a mixed box; 10.0% kilo saving. |
| Autumn | Warm, spiced | ₹94.40 | ₹86.85 | ₹273.76 | A cosy seasonal scent for a Diwali or year-end gift. |

Two plans, fully priced
Both plans are 500 candles of 200 g at 8% in White Matte Glass Jars with Eco Thin C1 wicks and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13% load; 8% is well inside it). Wax need is 92,000 g; with 3%, 9 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg.
| Item | Plan A · Verbena × 500 | Plan B · Verbena × 250 + Autumn × 250 |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrance oil | 8 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g · ₹39,270.40 | Verbena 4 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g + 2 × 15 g · ₹19,682.40 Autumn 4 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g · ₹22,526.20 |
| Luxury Soy Wax Chunks | 9 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg · ₹56,986.00 | 9 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg · ₹56,986.00 |
| White Matte Glass Jar | 100 × pack of 5 · ₹35,400.00 | 100 × pack of 5 · ₹35,400.00 |
| Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 | pack of 500 · ₹2,950.00 | pack of 500 · ₹2,950.00 |
| Total | ₹1,34,606.40 | ₹1,37,544.60 |
| Per candle | ₹269.21 | ₹275.09 |
| Testers (all five candidates) | ₹541.82 | ₹541.82 |
Plan B costs ₹2,938.20 more than Plan A, and almost all of that is Autumn costing more per gram than Verbena, not the split. Material cost excludes labels, gift boxes, labour, freight and GST, which on a corporate order can be substantial. Plan 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns as a working assumption; the oil and wax lines above already include 3%. For 500 of anything, ask CSI for a quote beyond the listed packs — no volume discount figure is published, so do not assume one.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. More scents means more small packs sold, and this page still recommends against a five-scent box for most 500-piece corporate orders, because the oil saving is nil and the operational risk is real.
Oil and wax prices come from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026; wick prices from the 25 September 2026 pull; the jar price is Blog 760's figure verified on 10 September 2026. Pack combinations use in-stock sizes only, choosing the cheapest and, within 0.5%, the fewest bottles. All totals are arithmetic on those prices.
The 200 g candle, 8% load and 3% allowance are working assumptions. The operational comparison is general practice, not measured data; we have no data on recipient preferences. Listed packs go up to 1 kg per oil — for 8 kg of one oil, confirm stock and ask for a quote on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
