The listed baseline, oil by oil

Bulk gifting buyers — gifting companies, resellers, event planners, makers supplying corporate clients — often assume a supplier's kilo price is a discount on the small packs and that anything bigger is negotiable from there. On CSI's listed catalogue, the first half of that is usually untrue. The one reliable step is from 15 g to 50 g or 100 g, where the 15 g carries a median 23.1% premium per gram. The pattern is clear. Four gifting-friendly oils give you a double-digit saving on the listed kilo without asking anyone: Honeydew Melon, Mango Coconut, Verbena and Fallen Leaves. Fresh Strawberries saves 6.3%. Orchard Pear saves 1.6%. Peach Melon Berry and Apple Cinnamon are flat to the paisa. Love Spell and Pomegranate Splash cost fractionally more per gram at 1 kg than at 100 g. Across the whole collection, of 91 oils listing both sizes, 52 are within ±1%, and only 24 show a saving of 5% or more.

Two consequences for a bulk gifting buyer. First, if you are choosing between two similar oils for a large order, the one with a real kilo break can be the cheaper candle even if its 100 g price is higher — Honeydew Melon's 100 g is ₹4.35 a gram, but its kilo is ₹3.40. Second, for flat-priced oils, the kilo is still worth buying for stock security and fewer reorders, but you should not expect it to lower your cost per candle. Three surprises in the price list

Reading the listed catalogue closely turns up three things a bulk buyer should know before placing any order, large or small.

1. Some 500 g packs are cheaper per gram than the kilo

Sage and Cedarwood and Saffron Cedarwood both list a 500 g at ₹2,584.20 (₹5.17 a gram) and a 1 kg at ₹6,867.60 (₹6.87 a gram). Two 500 g bottles cost ₹5,168.40 — ₹1,699.20 less than the kilo. Love Spell goes the other way: its 500 g at ₹2,499.00 is ₹5.00 a gram, dearer than both its 100 g (₹4.49) and its 1 kg (₹4.50). Price every size before you assume the biggest is best.

2. One oil is listed twice at different prices

Pomegranate Splash is listed at ₹399.00 for 100 g and ₹3,999.00 for 1 kg. A second listing, Pomegranate Splash (second listing), is ₹384.00 for 100 g and ₹3,843.00 for 1 kg — ₹156.00 less per kilo. 3. Our 10 kg wax bag costs slightly more per kilo than the 5 kg

Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are ₹599.00 a kilo at 1 kg and 5 kg, and ₹599.90 a kilo at 10 kg (₹5,999.00). CSI 464 is flat at ₹507.40 a kilo at 1, 5 and 10 kg. The one wax with a real bulk break is Natural Soy Pearl Wax: ₹450.00 for 1 kg and ₹424.80 a kilo at 5, 10 and 50 kg, a 5.6% saving; no fragrance-load ceiling is quoted for it in this series, so check its product page or ask before planning a load.

A 525-jar baseline order

Here is a gifting run large enough to justify a quote, priced entirely from the listed catalogue: 525 White Matte jars at 200 g, 175 in each of three scents, at an 8% load on CSI 464 (rated up to 10%). Each scent needs 2,800 g of oil, or 2,940 g with a 5% allowance — three 1 kg packs. The three oils are chosen because each has a real kilo break: Honeydew Melon, Mango Coconut and Fallen Leaves. Wax is 96,600 g, or 101,430 g with 5%.

That is ₹244.10 per jar in materials before labour, packaging, freight and GST. The oil is ₹34,831.20 of it; the wax, at ₹51,507.40, is the largest line and the jars, at ₹37,170.00, the second. Buying the same oil as thirty 100 g bottles per scent would cost ₹42,222.60 — ₹7,391.40 more — which is exactly the value of choosing oils with a real listed break. Had the same run used Luxury Soy Wax Chunks instead of CSI 464, the wax line would be ₹60,888.00 instead of ₹51,507.40; Chunks are rated up to 13% against CSI 464's 10%, which matters only if you plan to load above 10%.

Judging a quote against the baseline

When a quote comes back — from CSI or anyone else — lay it next to your baseline per oil and per kilo of wax. Three questions settle most decisions. Is the per-gram price lower than the cheapest listed pack mix for that oil? Does the quote include the documents you asked for, and the GST invoice? And does it confirm stock and a dispatch date you can plan around? A quote that is slightly cheaper but cannot confirm stock before your Diwali pour window is worth less than the listed price with stock in hand.
