A decorative candle business uses a surprising amount of oil. Three hundred mixed pieces a month is over two kilos. On CSI's listed catalogue, most oils cost the same per gram at 100 g and at 1 kg, but a few are much cheaper by the kilo. Knowing which is where wholesale buying starts.
2.12 kg
fragrance oil a month for 300 illustrative decorative pieces (150 × 60 g, 100 × 100 g, 50 × 150 g at 8%) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell fragrance oil wholesale? The store lists packs up to 1 kg per oil, with no minimum order stated. For quantities beyond the listed packs, or a mixed production order, message CSI on WhatsApp for a quote. No volume discount figure is published, so ask with your scents and volumes.

Is 1 kg cheaper per gram for decorative oils? For some. Honeydew Melon is 22.0% cheaper per gram at 1 kg and Verbena 20.0%. But 52 of 91 oils are within 1% at both sizes, including Juicy Orange and Solar Bloom. Where the breaks are lists them.

How much oil does a decorative business need? Our illustrative mix of 300 pieces a month (60 g, 100 g and 150 g at 8%) uses 2,120 g of oil and 24.38 kg of wax. Weigh your own moulds, as cavity weights are not published.

What should I send for a wholesale quote? Your scents, the grams of each per month, your wax and wick needs, your delivery city, your GST number for invoicing, and whether you need MSDS or IFRA documents. The quote brief has a template.
The short answer
Wholesale route: Listed packs 15 g to 1 kg; beyond that, a WhatsApp quote. No minimum order stated; no discount percentage published.
Real breaks: Honeydew Melon 22.0% · Verbena 20.0% · Roasted Coconut 19.2% · Eucalyptus Spearmint 13.3% · British Rose 10.3% · Ylang Ylang 10.0% · Jasmine 8.8% (1 kg vs 100 g per gram).
Monthly model: 300 pieces → 2,120 g oil + 24.38 kg Soy Pillar Wax (₹14,628.00) at 8%.
Shop: Fragrance Oils · Soy Pillar Wax · wholesale quote on WhatsApp.
The decorative maker's order ladder — where the price changes and where only the route does 15 g test a shape tester premium 100 g launch a scent most oils: flat from here 500 g a busy month some oils step down 1 kg a proven scent 24 oils save 5%+ Beyond 1 kg WhatsApp quote no figure published Across 91 oils listing both sizes, 52 cost within 1% per gram at 1 kg and at 100 g. The only reliable per-gram step is 15 g → 50/100 g. Above that, check the oil.
Each step up the ladder changes how many pieces you can pour before reordering. Only the first step, from 15 g, reliably lowers the price per gram. From 100 g upward it depends on the oil. Beyond 1 kg the route changes to a WhatsApp quote, and CSI publishes no discount figure for it.
Straight answer
How should a decorative candle maker buy fragrance oils wholesale?
Start with what CSI actually lists. Every oil comes in packs from 15 g up to at most 1 kg, and the store states no minimum order. Anything beyond the listed packs — several kilos of one scent, or a mixed production order — is quoted on WhatsApp, and no discount percentage is published. Within the listed packs, the kilo is usually a convenience rather than a discount. 52 of 91 oils cost within 1% per gram at 1 kg and at 100 g. But 24 oils do get cheaper, and some are the fruit and floral profiles decorative makers use most: Honeydew Melon 22.0%, Verbena 20.0%, Roasted Coconut 19.2%, British Rose 10.3%, Ylang Ylang 10.0% and Jasmine 8.8%. So buy those by the kilo once they sell. Buy flat-priced oils such as Juicy Orange in whatever size matches a month's use, and ask for a quote only when the listed packs stop covering your volume. A decorative business pouring 300 mixed pieces a month uses about 2.12 kg of oil at 8%, which is the point where that conversation becomes worth having.
One line: buy the oils with a real kilo break by the kilo; buy the rest by the month; ask for a quote only past the listed packs.
Two decorative oils where the kilo genuinely saves: Honeydew Melon 1 kg at ₹3,398.40 (₹3.40/g against ₹4.35 at 100 g) and Verbena 1 kg at ₹4,720.00 (₹4.72/g against ₹5.90). Each kilo scents 125 illustrative 100 g pieces at 8%.

What "wholesale" means on CSI's catalogue

Wholesale is not a secret price list. On CSI it is two things: the listed packs up to 1 kg, and a quote on WhatsApp beyond them.

Decorative makers often ask for "wholesale rates" expecting a tiered discount by quantity. Here is how it actually works at CSI. The listed packs are 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg, and not every oil has every size. There is no stated minimum order, so the smallest listed size of each oil is effectively the minimum. Beyond the listed packs, pricing is quoted on WhatsApp for your scents and quantities. No discount percentage is published, and we will not invent one here. What you can know in advance is what the listed packs cost per gram, and that is already enough to make most wholesale decisions.

The same applies to everything else a decorative business buys. Soy Pillar Wax is ₹0.60 a gram at 500 g, 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg, so buying 10 kg saves nothing per gram. Beeswax Pellets are ₹0.80 a gram at 1, 5 and 10 kg. Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are ₹12.00 each at every pack from 10 to 1,000. Moulds are priced each. For decorative makers, most of the real saving from buying bigger is in fewer reorders, fewer stockouts during a festive run, and fewer small shipments. It is rarely in a lower listed rate.

Separate the two questions
"Is the bigger pack cheaper?" is answered by the listed prices, and you can check it yourself in a minute. "Can I get a better rate for my volume?" is answered by a quote. Ask the first before the second, and you will know what a quote is actually being compared against.

Where the kilo breaks are, for decorative scents

The table sets decorative-friendly fruits, florals and fresh profiles side by side at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg. The top rows are oils with a real saving at the kilo. The bottom rows are popular decorative scents that are priced flat, or very slightly dearer at the kilo. The last column is the per-gram saving from 100 g to 1 kg.

Wild Berries ₹599.00 ₹5.99 ₹6.00 ₹5,999.00 ₹6.00 -0.2%
Love Spell ₹449.00 ₹4.49 ₹5.00 ₹4,499.00 ₹4.50 -0.2%

Three things follow. First, the saving is concentrated. Honeydew Melon and Verbena save a fifth of the per-gram price, and Roasted Coconut nearly as much. For those, a decorative maker who uses a kilo in a season should buy the kilo. Second, the 500 g is sometimes the sweet spot. Honeydew Melon's 500 g is already ₹3.40 a gram, the same as its kilo, so a smaller business gets the full saving without a kilo of stock. Verbena's 500 g is ₹4.96, partway down. Third, many favourites are flat. Japanese Cherry Blossom saves 3.2%, and Juicy Orange, Solar Bloom, Wild Berries and Love Spell are flat or fractionally dearer at 1 kg. For those, buy the size your month needs.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We would sell more kilos if we told decorative makers that the kilo is always the wholesale price. For more than half our oils it is not. A kilo of Juicy Orange costs ₹7,499.00, and ten 100 g bottles cost ₹7,490.00. If you use 600 g of Juicy Orange a season, buy six 100 g bottles and keep ₹3,005.00 of oil money in your business instead of on a shelf. Buy the kilo only for the oils where the table shows a real break, or where running out mid-festival would cost you more than the stock does.

A month of decorative production, in grams

Wholesale decisions start with a monthly number, not a bottle size.

Here is an illustrative decorative business: 150 small pieces (60 g, such as ladoos and rose buds), 100 medium pieces (100 g, such as lotuses and oranges) and 50 large pieces (150 g, such as big roses and teddies) each month. All are at an 8% working load. The weights are illustrative, because CSI does not publish cavity weights; replace them with your own weighed fills. No fragrance ceiling is published for pillar wax, so 8% is a working point from your own tests, not a spec.

Illustrative monthly mix · 8% load · Soy Pillar Wax at ₹0.60 / g
What 300 decorative pieces a month consume
Piece Pieces Oil each Oil total Wax total Wax cost
60 g 150 4.8 g 720 g 8.28 kg ₹4,968.00
100 g 100 8.0 g 800 g 9.20 kg ₹5,520.00
150 g 50 12.0 g 600 g 6.90 kg ₹4,140.00
Month 300 2,120 g 24.38 kg ₹14,628.00

That is 2,120 g of oil and 24.38 kg of wax a month, before the 3–5% working allowance for pour loss and test pieces. The wax is simple: two 10 kg bags and a 5 kg bag (₹15,000.00) cover 25 kg, a little over the month. The oil is where the wholesale decisions sit. Spread across four scents, each needs about 530 g a month. That is too much for 100 g bottles to be convenient and not quite a kilo. The next section prices that gap.

Buying the month: which packs for which oil

For each scent the month needs about 530 g. The table compares three ways to buy it: six 100 g bottles (600 g), a 500 g plus a 100 g (600 g), or one kilo (with the spare carried into next month). The last column is what the 530 g actually used costs at the kilo rate, so you can see the cost of the oil you pour against the cash you tie up.

CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026 · all options in stock on the pull date
Four ways to buy 530 g of one scent
Oil 6 × 100 g (600 g) 500 g + 100 g (600 g) 1 kg 530 g used, at the 1 kg rate
Honeydew Melon ₹2,612.52 ₹2,134.62 ₹3,398.40 ₹1,801.15
Verbena ₹3,540.00 ₹3,068.00 ₹4,720.00 ₹2,501.60
Juicy Orange ₹4,494.00 ₹4,498.00 ₹7,499.00 ₹3,974.47
Solar Bloom ₹4,494.00 ₹4,498.00 ₹7,499.00 ₹3,974.47

For Honeydew Melon, the 500 g + 100 g route is the cheapest way to hold 600 g: ₹2,134.62, against ₹2,612.52 for six 100 g bottles, because the 500 g already carries the kilo rate. The kilo costs ₹1,263.78 more than that route and holds 400 g more, at the same ₹3.40 a gram. It is worth it if next month needs the oil too. Verbena behaves the same way, with a smaller gap: ₹3,068.00 for 500 g + 100 g against ₹3,540.00 for six 100 g. For Juicy Orange and Solar Bloom every route costs the same per gram. Six 100 g bottles and 500 g + 100 g are within a few rupees, and the kilo simply costs ₹3,005.00 more than six 100 g bottles in each case, for 400 g more oil at the same rate. Buy 1 Kg Fragrance Oil for Pillar and Mould Candle Making goes further into the kilo decision for pillar and mould makers.

1
Write the month in grams, per scentWeighed cavity fill × load × pieces, for every shape and scent. Add 3–5% as a working allowance.
2
Sort your scents into "break" and "flat"Use the table above or the oil's product page. A break oil has a 1 kg per-gram price clearly below its 100 g.
3
Buy break oils by the kilo (or the 500 g if it already carries the break)Honeydew Melon's 500 g is already at its kilo rate; Verbena's is part way there. Check before you default to 1 kg.
4
Buy flat oils by the monthThe pack combination that covers one month with least spare. You pay the same per gram and keep your cash.
5
Size the wax to the oilAt 8%, each 100 g of oil pairs with 1,150 g of wax. Soy Pillar Wax is flat per gram, so match the bags to the month.
6
When the month outgrows the listed packs, askSeveral kilos of one scent a month, or a festive run, is the point to ask for a quote on WhatsApp. Bring your monthly grams.

The CSI principle
Buy the break oils by the kilo. Buy the flat oils by the month.
The listed prices already tell you which is which. A wholesale quote is for the volume beyond the listed packs, not a substitute for reading them.

Asking for a wholesale quote

When your monthly grams outgrow the listed packs, or you have a large festive or corporate order, a quote is the next step. It is quicker and more useful if you send everything at once. Here is what to include.

What to send on WhatsApp for a decorative wholesale quote
The quote brief
Include Example Why it matters
Scents and grams per month Honeydew Melon 600 g, Verbena 600 g, Jasmine 500 g, British Rose 500 g Quotes are per oil and quantity
Wax and quantity Soy Pillar Wax 25 kg a month Wax is often the heaviest line to ship
Wicks, dyes, moulds 300 braided wicks, red and yellow chips, two extra Ladoo moulds One order, one invoice
Timing Delivered by 10 October for Diwali Stock on popular sizes cannot be guaranteed late
Delivery city and GST number Pune · your GSTIN For freight and a GST invoice
Documents needed MSDS and IFRA certificates for four oils Retailers and corporate buyers often ask

Do not assume a discount figure before you have one in writing. CSI publishes none, and the quote depends on the oils, quantities and timing. Compare it against the listed per-gram prices on this page, and you will know exactly what it is worth. For a decorative business supplying shops or corporate gifting, also read Where to Buy Fragrance Oils for Commercial Decorative Candle Production, which covers what to check in any supplier before a commercial run, and Wholesale Fragrance Oils for Bulk Gifting Candle Orders for bulk gifting orders.

Planning Diwali (8 November 2026) or the November–February wedding season? Send your monthly grams, wax, wicks and dyes in one message, and we will quote the whole order with GST invoice and documentation on request. The earlier you ask, the more likely your chosen sizes are in stock.
Send my wholesale brief on WhatsApp
The wholesale trap. A maker gets a good quote on five kilos of one oil and buys it, then finds the scent sells for one season only. Four kilos sit on a shelf for a year. Wholesale quantities make sense for proven, steady sellers. Use them for your two or three core scents, and keep seasonal and trial scents on 100 g or 500 g, however attractive the quote.
The listed prices answer "is bigger cheaper?" A quote answers "what about my volume?" Ask them in that order.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A wholesale page is where a supplier would normally imply a volume discount. We do not publish one, so this page does not suggest one. It shows which oils are genuinely cheaper per gram by the kilo on the listed prices, which are not, and tells you to buy flat-priced oils by the month rather than by the kilo.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick prices are Blog 760's figures verified on 10 September 2026, rechecked on 25 September. The price-break percentages compare the same oil's per-gram price at 100 g and 1 kg, and the monthly model is plain arithmetic, shown so you can check it.

The monthly piece mix, piece weights and 8% load are illustrative working figures. Cavity weights and a pillar-wax fragrance ceiling are not published. Wholesale pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp and no discount percentage is published. For a quote, GST invoicing or MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us at +91 7397976926.

The monthly model (150 × 60 g, 100 × 100 g, 50 × 150 g at 8%) is illustrative; cavity weights and a pillar-wax fragrance ceiling are not published. The 3–5% allowance is a working assumption.
