Five checks that make an oil professional

A hobby maker chooses an oil once. A manufacturer chooses it every month, pours it into hundreds of candles, and has retailers and repeat customers expecting the same candle each time. That changes what matters. The scent still has to be good, but a beautiful oil you cannot reorder in a production pack, cannot document, or cannot identify precisely on the next purchase order is not a professional oil — it is a liability with a nice smell. Here are the five checks, what each protects you from, and how to run it on CSI's catalogue.

Notice what is not on the list: a claim that one oil is "stronger" or "premium grade". Those are properties you verify in your own burn, not boxes a supplier ticks for you. Continuity: the production pack must be in stock

The most expensive fragrance problem a manufacturer can have is a bestselling candle whose oil cannot be restocked. It rarely announces itself. The small sizes stay available, the product page still loads, and only the kilo is marked sold out. Here are the oils in CSI's catalogue in exactly that state today — useful to know, and a reminder to check the production pack of any oil before it goes into a launch plan.

Naming: order by link and size, not by scent name

Any catalogue of more than a hundred oils accumulates look-alike names, renamed listings and titles with old shipping notes. CSI's is no exception, and we would rather show you than let a reorder go wrong. None of the examples below is a problem if you order by the exact product link and size; every one of them is a potential problem if you order by name from memory or over a phone call.

The professional habit is simple. Every scent in your line has a spec sheet with the exact product link and the size you buy, and every purchase order — online, on WhatsApp or by email — quotes both. If a listing's title, price or link changes between orders, you will notice before the oil reaches the melter rather than after the candles reach a customer.

A costed 12-scent professional line

Twelve scents is a practical size for a small manufacturer: enough to cover the main customer tastes and seasons, few enough to qualify, document and forecast properly. The line below passes the production-pack check on every oil, covers every major fragrance family, and puts review-backed oils at the core. Tiers matter because they decide pack size. Costs are at 1 kg pricing for 200g candles at 8% (16g of oil).

Why start eight of the twelve in 500g? Because on these eight oils the per-gram price barely moves between 500g and 1 kg. Buying each as two 500g packs instead of one kilo would cost ₹55.20 more across all eight kilos combined — ₹47.20 of it on Cinnamon Vanilla, ₹8 on Citrus Lemon, ₹2 on Orchard Pear, nothing on Blue Ocean, Apple Cinnamon or Sandalwood, and ₹1 less on Jasmine and White Royal Oud. That is a negligible price for holding ₹18,911 less cash on the shelf until you know each scent's sell-through. The core four go in kilos because they are the scents you will pour every week, and British Rose in particular is 3.7% cheaper per gram as a kilo than as two 500g packs.

Qualifying twelve oils before the first kilo

Qualification is the step that turns a list of scents into a production line. Buying 50g of all twelve oils costs ₹3,070.78 — ₹255.90 per scent on average, against ₹54,435.40 for the kilos. Each 50g bottle covers three 150g test jars at 10% with a little spare. The protocol below is designed for a manufacturer: fixed conditions, written records, and a pass/fail decision per oil.

Every scent in a professional line gets one page. It is the purchase specification, the pouring instruction and the quality record in one, and it is what lets a second person pour the same candle.
