Candle Business Guides · Professional Fragrance
For a manufacturer, "professional" means repeatable: the same listing, the same production pack, the same documents and the same recipe every time you reorder. This guide turns those criteria into checks you can run on CSI's catalogue, and costs a 12-scent production line in 1 kg packs.
₹54,435.40
a 12-scent professional line with 1 kg of every oil · ≈750 × 200g candles at 8% · average ₹72.58 of oil per candle · ₹35,524.40 if eight of the twelve start in 500g · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What makes a fragrance oil "professional" for a manufacturer? Five things you can check: a production pack in stock (1 kg), a sampling size to qualify it first, an unambiguous listing you can reorder exactly, documentation (MSDS/IFRA, GST invoice) and a load you have proven in your own wax.

How many CSI oils pass the production-pack check today? Of 96 fragrance oils with at least one size in stock, 87 have their 1 kg in stock. Nine have smaller sizes available but the kilo sold out — don't launch a production SKU on those.

What does a 12-scent line cost? ₹54,435.40 for 1 kg each, making about 750 × 200g candles at 8%. Starting eight of the twelve in 500g drops that to ₹35,524.40 — and on those eight, buying in 500g instead of kilos costs only ₹55.20 more across all eight kilos.

Is there a 5 kg or 10 kg pack? No. The largest listed fragrance size is 1 kg. Larger and recurring orders, bulk pricing and documentation go through WhatsApp.
The short answer
Qualify before you standardise: 50g of each candidate (₹3,070.78 for all twelve in this guide), three test jars, a day-21 burn, and a one-page spec per scent.
Standardise on listings with a production pack in stock and order by the exact product link and size, never by scent name alone — look-alike names exist in any large catalogue, including CSI's.
Buy the core in kilos, the rest in 500g until each scent's sell-through is known; keep a retained sample of every delivery.

The 12-scent line: what each tier costs · all in 1 kg vs core in 1 kg + the rest in 500g All twelve in 1 kg · ₹54,435.40 · ≈750 candles Core 4 · ₹16,558.20 Breadth 4 · ₹15,449 Seasonal 3 · ₹14,325.20 Premium ₹8,103 Core in 1 kg, other eight in 500g · ₹35,524.40 · ≈500 candles Core 4 · ₹16,558.20 ₹7,729 ₹7,186.20 ₹4,051 Block width is proportional to rupees (₹54,435.40 = 626px). Candle counts assume 200g candles at 8% (16g of oil each).
Same twelve scents, same recipes, ₹18,911 less cash on the shelf in the second row — because on the eight non-core oils the 500g pack costs almost exactly half the kilo. The core four are where a kilo earns its place.
Straight answer
Which fragrance oils should a candle manufacturer standardise on, and how do I know they are fit for professional production?
Choose oils that pass five production checks, then build a balanced line. The checks: the 1 kg pack is in stock (true for 87 of the 96 CSI oils with any size in stock); there is a sampling size to qualify it (50 of those 96 have a 15g in stock); the listing is unambiguous, so you order the exact product link and size every time; MSDS, IFRA documentation and a GST invoice are available, which CSI provides on request through WhatsApp; and you have proven the load in your production wax. A line that passes: four review-backed core oils — Lavender, British Rose, Woody Oud, Roasted Coffee — four for breadth, three seasonal and one premium. At 1 kg each that is ₹54,435.40 for about 750 × 200g candles at 8%, an average of ₹72.58 of oil per candle. Buy only the core in kilos at first and the other eight in 500g: ₹35,524.40, with almost no per-gram penalty. Qualify all twelve first with 50g bottles for ₹3,070.78, record a one-page spec per scent, and keep a retained sample of every delivery.
One line: a professional oil is one you can reorder exactly, in a production pack that is in stock, with documents on file and a load you have proven — build twelve of those, core in kilos, the rest in 500g.
Standardising a range? Production packs from ₹2,832 per kilo (Citrus Lemon), review-backed core oils from ₹3,068 (British Rose), and MSDS/IFRA documentation and GST invoicing on request.

Five checks that make an oil professional

No bottle arrives labelled "professional". The word describes what happens when you try to buy it again.

A hobby maker chooses an oil once. A manufacturer chooses it every month, pours it into hundreds of candles, and has retailers and repeat customers expecting the same candle each time. That changes what matters. The scent still has to be good, but a beautiful oil you cannot reorder in a production pack, cannot document, or cannot identify precisely on the next purchase order is not a professional oil — it is a liability with a nice smell. Here are the five checks, what each protects you from, and how to run it on CSI's catalogue.

Professional fragrance criteria · applied to live CSI stock, September 2026
What to check, why it matters in production, and what the CSI catalogue shows today
Check What it protects you from How to run it What CSI's listings show
1 · Production pack in stock A launched SKU you cannot restock Confirm the 1 kg variant is available, not just the small sizes 87 of 96 in-stock oils have 1 kg available; 9 have it sold out
2 · Sampling size Committing a kilo to an untested scent Look for 15g or 50g before 1 kg 50 have a 15g in stock; 17 have neither 15g nor 50g in stock, so testing starts at 100g or more
3 · Unambiguous listing Reordering a different oil by mistake Specify product link + size on every order A few look-alike names and stale shipping notes in titles exist — see the naming section
4 · Documentation Retail, export or marketplace compliance gaps Request MSDS and IFRA documents per oil before the first production order; keep GST invoices MSDS, IFRA documentation and GST invoicing on request via WhatsApp
5 · Proven load Sweating, weak throw or cost drift Fix the load per scent after a cured burn in your production wax, within the wax's stated ceiling Wax pages state ceilings: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%

Notice what is not on the list: a claim that one oil is "stronger" or "premium grade". Those are properties you verify in your own burn, not boxes a supplier ticks for you. What a supplier can show you is availability, pack structure, identifiable listings and documentation — so those are what a manufacturer should audit first. For how the manufacturer-versus-supplier distinction affects these checks, see bulk candle fragrance oil manufacturer and supplier.

Documents before volume, not after
Ask for the MSDS and IFRA documentation for each oil while it is still a 50g sample, not after you have printed labels. If a stockist, marketplace or export buyer asks for them later, you want them on file with the spec sheet, matched to the exact listing you buy. Message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with the product links.

Continuity: the production pack must be in stock

The most expensive fragrance problem a manufacturer can have is a bestselling candle whose oil cannot be restocked. It rarely announces itself. The small sizes stay available, the product page still loads, and only the kilo is marked sold out. Here are the oils in CSI's catalogue in exactly that state today — useful to know, and a reminder to check the production pack of any oil before it goes into a launch plan.

Continuity watch-list · smaller sizes in stock, 1 kg sold out · CSI live stock, September 2026
Oils to sample freely but not to launch as a production SKU until the kilo is back
Oil Sizes currently in stock 1 kg listed price (sold out) Production stance
Vetiver 15 gm ₹187.62 · 50 gm ₹354 · 100 gm ₹600 · 500 gm ₹2,900 ₹5,664 500 gm is available — workable for a small run; confirm kilo restock on WhatsApp
Sacred Sandal Ember 500g ₹3,999 ₹6,999 Qualify from 500g only; no sampling size in stock
Moca Coffee 50g ₹560 · 100g ₹1,120 ₹11,200 Sample only
Wild Berry 100g ₹629 ₹6,287 Sample only — note the separate in-stock "Wild Berries" listing
Grapefruit Oleo 100g ₹341 ₹3,407 Sample only
Coffee Blast 50g ₹649 ₹12,800 Sample only
Three bath-and-body-inspired listings 50g, 100g or 500g on some sizes ₹11,220–₹11,980 Sample only
The mistake: launching on a sample size. A maker loves a 100g bottle, pours thirty candles, sells out at a market, and then discovers the kilo has been sold out all along. The fix is a rule, not vigilance: no scent enters a production plan until its 1 kg variant is in stock on the day you plan, and for any scent that will run above one kilo a month, ask on WhatsApp about recurring supply before launch. Stock status changes in both directions, so recheck on the day you order.

Naming: order by link and size, not by scent name

"Two kilos of Pomegranate Splash, please" is not a purchase order. It is a guess.

Any catalogue of more than a hundred oils accumulates look-alike names, renamed listings and titles with old shipping notes. CSI's is no exception, and we would rather show you than let a reorder go wrong. None of the examples below is a problem if you order by the exact product link and size; every one of them is a potential problem if you order by name from memory or over a phone call.

Look-alike and noisy listings · CSI live catalogue, September 2026
Where a name alone could send you the wrong oil or the wrong price
What you might say What the catalogue actually lists Why it matters
"Pomegranate Splash" Pomegranate Splash Fragrance Oil — 1kg ₹3,999, 500g ₹1,999 · and Pomegranate Splash — 1kg ₹3,843, no 500g Two listings, two price ladders; treat them as different oils until you have compared them
"Spicy Raspberry" Spicy Raspberry (in stock, 1kg ₹5,999) · a second Spicy Raspberry listing, fully sold out Only one is orderable; specify the link
"Wild Berry" Wild Berries (1kg ₹5,999, in stock) · Wild Berry (1kg ₹6,287, sold out) One letter apart, different prices and stock
"Dark Vanilla" or "Vanilla Bean" Dark Vanilla and Vanilla Bean — identical prices at all five sizes (1 kg ₹7,646) Different names; do not assume they are interchangeable — test each as its own oil
"Rajnigandha" or "Raat Ki Rani" Rajnigandha (Tuberose) title still carries "(Ships 12th July 2025)"; Raat Ki Rani's link carries an old shipping date Stale notes, not current dispatch dates — both are in stock in 1 kg
"Gardenia" Gardenia Fragrance Oil, whose link reads gardenia-tuberose Save the link, not a guessed URL

The professional habit is simple. Every scent in your line has a spec sheet with the exact product link and the size you buy, and every purchase order — online, on WhatsApp or by email — quotes both. If a listing's title, price or link changes between orders, you will notice before the oil reaches the melter rather than after the candles reach a customer.

A costed 12-scent professional line

Twelve scents is a practical size for a small manufacturer: enough to cover the main customer tastes and seasons, few enough to qualify, document and forecast properly. The line below passes the production-pack check on every oil, covers every major fragrance family, and puts review-backed oils at the core. Tiers matter because they decide pack size. Costs are at 1 kg pricing for 200g candles at 8% (16g of oil).

Line totals ₹54,435.40 ₹72.58 average ₹35,524.40 as started
Priced above: all-kilo line = sum of twelve 1 kg prices = ₹54,435.40 → 12,000g ÷ 16g = 750 candles → ₹72.58 average oil per candle. Starting stock = four core kilos (₹16,558.20) + eight 500g packs (₹7,729 breadth + ₹7,186.20 seasonal + ₹4,051 premium) = ₹35,524.40 → 8,000g ÷ 16g = 500 candles. Oil per candle = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × 16g.

Why start eight of the twelve in 500g? Because on these eight oils the per-gram price barely moves between 500g and 1 kg. Buying each as two 500g packs instead of one kilo would cost ₹55.20 more across all eight kilos combined — ₹47.20 of it on Cinnamon Vanilla, ₹8 on Citrus Lemon, ₹2 on Orchard Pear, nothing on Blue Ocean, Apple Cinnamon or Sandalwood, and ₹1 less on Jasmine and White Royal Oud. That is a negligible price for holding ₹18,911 less cash on the shelf until you know each scent's sell-through. The core four go in kilos because they are the scents you will pour every week, and British Rose in particular is 3.7% cheaper per gram as a kilo than as two 500g packs.

Four of the twelve are worth a closer look, because they fill production roles the review-backed core cannot. Each card counts the 150g test jars at 10% (15g of oil) a pack fills, matching the qualification protocol below.

1
Citrus · cost anchor of the line
Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil
The lowest 1 kg price of any in-stock CSI oil at ₹2,832, which makes it the cost anchor for an entry-price candle or a kitchen and summer sub-range. A buyer calls it "Quality is good with good fragrance". Citrus top notes tend to fade faster than woods in soy, so give it a proven load and a production cure rather than assuming — the fix is in why citrus fragrances fade in candles. Its 500g is just ₹8 dearer per kilo-equivalent than the kilo.

2
Aquatic · the clean-scent slot
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
Every range needs a fresh, clean option for bathrooms, offices and gifting to people who dislike sweet scents. Two buyers call Blue Ocean "Fresh and soothing" and "Good fragrance". Two production notes: the 15 gm is currently sold out, so qualification starts at 50 gm (₹247); and its ladder runs slightly backwards — ₹4.94 per gram at 50g against ₹4.956 at 1 kg — so there is no per-gram reason to buy the kilo before sell-through justifies it.

Indian floral · pooja, festive and wedding orders
Jasmine Fragrance Oil
A familiar Indian floral that corporate, festive and wedding buyers ask for by name. Its buyer review is enthusiastic but pre-pour — "the fragrance is so nice. Can’t wait to use in my candles" — so qualify it in your own wax. The ladder rewards scale early: ₹4.30 per gram at 100g falls to ₹3.92 at 500g, and the kilo is the same ₹3.92. That makes 500g the efficient production pack here, not just the cautious one.

Seasonal gourmand · repeat-purchase signal
Cinnamon Vanilla
The festive gourmand of the line for Diwali and Christmas. Its reviews are short but commercially useful — "Will buy more.. wonderful" and "Frangance is sooo good" — and a buyer's intent to reorder is the signal a manufacturer cares about. It is the one oil among the eight 500g starters where the kilo is meaningfully cheaper than 500g (₹4.55 vs ₹4.60 per gram), so move it to kilos once the festive forecast is firm. Vanilla can tint pale wax; check colour through the cure.

The CSI principle
A professional fragrance is one you can buy again: the same listing, the same pack, the same recipe, the same candle.
Scent quality gets an oil onto the shortlist. Continuity, identification, documentation and a proven load keep it in the line. A manufacturer who audits those four before the first kilo spends far less time explaining to a retailer why this month's candle is different.
Running above a kilo a month on core scents? The largest listed pack is 1 kg — so for recurring volume, bulk pricing, GST invoicing and MSDS/IFRA documentation are handled on WhatsApp. Send the product links, monthly quantities and your GST number.

Qualifying twelve oils before the first kilo

Qualification is the step that turns a list of scents into a production line. Buying 50g of all twelve oils costs ₹3,070.78 — ₹255.90 per scent on average, against ₹54,435.40 for the kilos. Each 50g bottle covers three 150g test jars at 10% with a little spare. The protocol below is designed for a manufacturer: fixed conditions, written records, and a pass/fail decision per oil.

1
Fix the production conditions firstOne wax, one vessel, one wick size, one add temperature, one cure. If production will run in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, qualify in it — the page states 8–13%, 10% recommended, add at 80–90°C, pour 70–80°C. Oils do not transfer between waxes on trust.
2
Pour three jars per oil at your intended production loadCode them on the base. Jar A burns at day 14, jar B at day 21, jar C stays unburned as the cold-throw and colour reference.
3
Score against pass criteria written in advanceFor example: full melt pool to the glass within three hours, no soot, no oily surface, doorway score of at least 3 out of 5 at 60 minutes, no colour change you would not sell. An oil that fails any criterion fails.
4
Request documents for every oil that passesSend CSI the product links on WhatsApp and ask for MSDS and IFRA documentation. File them with the spec sheet before any kilo is ordered.
5
Complete the one-page spec and set the starting packCore tier in 1 kg, the rest in 500g, as costed above. The spec sheet, not memory, becomes the recipe.
6
Keep a retained sample from the first production packDecant a small sealed amount from the first kilo or 500g, label it with the product link and invoice date, and store it cool and dark. It is the reference you smell every later delivery against.
Don't qualify twelve oils in twelve different conditions. Makers often test each new oil in whatever jar and wax are to hand. The result is twelve results that cannot be compared and a line whose candles behave differently for reasons that have nothing to do with fragrance. Qualification is only worth ₹3,070.78 if every oil faces the same wax, jar, wick, load and cure. For comparing two close candidates, use the controlled burn test.

The one-page fragrance specification

If the recipe lives in one person's head, the business has a single point of failure.

Every scent in a professional line gets one page. It is the purchase specification, the pouring instruction and the quality record in one, and it is what lets a second person pour the same candle. Here is the template with an example filled in for British Rose in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks. The wax figures are as stated on the product page; the production choices are examples to replace with your own qualified results.

Check every delivery before it meets the melter. When a new pack arrives, confirm the listing and size against the spec, dip a smelling strip beside one dipped in the retained sample, and compare colour in two clear glasses. If something seems different, pour one test jar before the full batch and message CSI on WhatsApp with the product link and invoice date. It takes ten minutes and it is the difference between a quality system and a hope.
Customers don't reorder a fragrance. They reorder the candle they bought last time — so make sure you can make it again.

How much of each oil to hold month to month is its own calculation, covered in wholesale fragrance oil for candle manufacturers and how to plan fragrance inventory before the festive season. The spec sheet is what makes those forecasts trustworthy: a forecast built on a load that drifts is not a forecast.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA is a raw-material supplier, not a fragrance manufacturer and not a candle maker. That is exactly why this guide audits our own catalogue in public — the oils whose kilo is sold out, the look-alike listings, the stale shipping notes in titles. A manufacturer who knows those things orders precisely and keeps ordering; one who finds them out on a production day does not.

Every price, pack size and stock status comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and availability always take precedence — stock changes in both directions. Counts are taken from the live fragrance catalogue: 96 oils with at least one size in stock, 87 with 1 kg in stock, 50 with a 15g in stock. Wax loads and temperatures are quoted as the product pages state them and are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Reviews are quoted verbatim from Judge.me.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a candle fragrance oil "professional grade"?
For a manufacturer it is less about the bottle and more about repeatability. Check that the production pack (1 kg at CSI) is in stock, that a sampling size exists to qualify it, that the listing is unambiguous so you can reorder exactly, that MSDS and IFRA documentation and a GST invoice are available, and that you have proven a load in your own wax. Scent quality is confirmed by your burn, not by a label.
How many fragrance oils should a small candle manufacturer stock?
Around twelve is manageable for most small manufacturers: four core scents poured weekly, four for breadth, three seasonal and one premium. At CSI a twelve-scent line costs ₹54,435.40 with a kilo of each (about 750 × 200g candles at 8%), or ₹35,524.40 if eight start in 500g. Fewer scents are easier to forecast; more usually means slower-moving stock.
Does CSI provide MSDS and IFRA documents for its fragrance oils?
Yes — MSDS and IFRA documentation are provided on request through WhatsApp at +91 7397976926, along with GST invoicing and bulk pricing. Send the exact product links of the oils you use. Request them while an oil is still at sample stage, and file them with that scent's specification sheet so they are ready when a retailer, marketplace or export buyer asks.
Can I buy candle fragrance oil in 5 kg or 10 kg packs?
Not as a single listed pack: the largest listed fragrance size at CSI is 1 kg. Five kilos of one oil is five 1 kg packs at the listed price — ₹15,340 for British Rose, for example — and listed prices are the ceiling. For recurring or larger volumes, send the product links, quantities and frequency on WhatsApp for a quote. Check that the 1 kg variant is in stock before planning.
How do I make sure a fragrance oil smells the same every time I reorder?
Order by the exact product link and size, never by name alone. Keep a sealed retained sample from your first production pack, labelled with the invoice date. On every delivery, compare a smelling strip and colour against the retained sample before pouring the batch, and pour one test jar if anything seems different. Record everything on a one-page specification per scent.
What fragrance load do candle manufacturers use?
Whatever each scent's qualification proves, inside the ceiling the wax states. At CSI, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state 8–13% with 10% recommended, CSI 468 up to 13% and CSI 464 up to 10%. Many makers qualify at 8% and move up only if a cured candle is quiet. Fix the load on the spec sheet: at British Rose's ₹3,068/kg, every extra point costs ₹6.14 per 200g candle.
