Five hundred 200g candles need 92 kg of wax, 8 kg of fragrance oil and 500 each of wicks, jars, wick stickers and care labels. Built from listed CSI packs with spares, the budget order is ₹91,850 and the premium order ₹1,85,663.80 — and almost every pack on the list is a different size from the one you'd buy for 100.

Quick answers — read this first
What raw materials do I need for 500 candles? For 500 × 200g at 8%: 92 kg of wax, 8 kg of fragrance oil, 500 wicks, 500 jars, 500 wick stickers and 500 care labels. With a 4% wax and 3% oil planning allowance, that is 95.68 kg and 8.24 kg.

What does it cost? Budget build (Eco Soy CSI 400, five 1 kg-bottle scents, Eco C2 wicks, clear Salsa jars): ₹91,850. Premium build (CSI 468 at 10%, five premium oils, wooden wicks, matte jars): ₹1,85,663.80.

What changes from 100 candles? Oil moves from 500g to 1 kg bottles, wicks into a 500-pack, jars into five 100-packs, and the wax becomes 20 small bags, 10 × 10 kg or two 50 kg sacks. The cash is 4.67 times the 100-candle order for five times the candles.

Is 500 candles the point to ask for a quote? It is the first point where it is worth asking. Listed prices are the ceiling; send the whole list on WhatsApp and let CSI quote the consolidated order — we don't publish or promise what that quote will be.
The short answer
Don't multiply the 100-candle cart by five: it costs ₹6,417 more than a list planned at 500, and buys 2,000 labels you don't need.
Plan scents in kilo-shaped blocks: at 8% with a 3% allowance, a 1 kg bottle covers 60 candles, 2 kg covers 121 and 3 kg covers 182. Split the 500 so each scent lands on whole bottles.
Choose the wax route, not just the wax: the same 100 kg is 20 bags of Eco Soy CSI 400, 10 bags of CSI 464, or two 50 kg sacks of Natural Soy Pearl Wax.

What arrives for 500 candles — one square per pack, budget build at 8% Wax · 20 × 5 kg Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹39,920 Fragrance · 9 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g ₹28,700 Jars · 5 × 100 + 1 × 50 Salsa ₹16,225 Wicks · 1 × 500 + 1 × 50 Eco C2 ₹5,192 Wick stickers · 14 sheets of 40 ₹1,400 Care labels · 1 roll of 500 ₹413 53 packs, ₹91,850. Black = full-size pack · grey = spare or top-up pack (500 g oil, 50 jars, 50 wicks).
Twenty of the 53 packs are wax bags, because Eco Soy CSI 400 is listed no larger than 5 kg. Switch the budget wax to Natural Soy Pearl Wax in two 50 kg packs and the order drops to 35 packs for ₹2,560 more — the pack decision at 500 is about handling as much as price.
Straight answer
My recipe works and I want to make 500 candles. What exactly do I need to buy, in which packs, and what will it cost?
Five hundred 200g candles at an 8% load consume 92 kg of wax and 8 kg of fragrance oil, plus 500 wicks, jars, wick stickers and care labels. With a 4% wax allowance you need 95.68 kg, which you will buy as 100 kg: twenty 5 kg bags of Eco Soy CSI 400 (₹39,920), ten 10 kg bags of a wax like CSI 464 (₹50,740), or two 50 kg packs of Natural Soy Pearl Wax (₹42,480). The oil should be planned in whole bottles: a 1 kg bottle covers 60 candles at 8% with allowance, so a five-scent split of 120/120/120/80/60 lands on nine 1 kg bottles and one 500g (₹28,700 for oils such as British Rose and Roasted Coffee). Wicks come as one Eco C2 500-pack plus 50 spares (₹5,192); jars as five 100-packs of clear 200ml Salsa jars plus a 50 (₹16,225); fourteen wick-sticker sheets (₹1,400) and one 500-label care roll (₹413). Total: ₹91,850, or ₹169.57 of materials per candle. The premium version — CSI 468 at 10%, premium oils, wooden wicks, matte jars — is ₹1,85,663.80. Listed prices are the ceiling; at this size, send the list on WhatsApp for a consolidated quote.
One line: 500 candles = 100 kg of wax bags, about nine 1 kg oil bottles, a 500-wick pack, five 100-jar packs and one label roll — ₹91,850 budget, ₹1,85,663.80 premium, before any quote.
The 500-candle staples are all listed: Eco C2 wicks 500 for ₹4,720, clear 200ml Salsa jars 100 for ₹2,950, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg for ₹5,074, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax 50 kg for ₹21,240.

100 to 500: what changes on the list

The recipe scales by five. The order does not — and the difference is money.

A candle at 500 is the same candle as at 100: 184g of wax, 16g of oil, one wick, one sticker, one jar, one label. What changes is how those grams and pieces arrive. At 100 candles the cheapest route used 5 kg bags, 500g bottles, a 100-wick pack and a 100-jar pack with small spare packs. At 500, several larger listed packs start to fit the quantity exactly, and one line — the care label roll — doesn't need to grow at all.

Wax (Eco Soy CSI 400) 4 × 5 kg ₹7,984 20 × 5 kg ₹39,920 Nothing but the count — 5 kg is its largest pack

Total ₹19,653.40 ₹91,850 4.67× the cash for 5× the candles

The per-candle picture barely moves. With identical scents, the only line whose rate changes between 100 and 500 is the fragrance: 1 kg bottles are a little cheaper per gram than 500g bottles on some oils. On the four budget scents from the 100-candle list, that saves ₹0 to ₹1.89 a candle, about ₹0.67 on average. The wax, the Eco wicks, the Salsa jars in 50s and 100s, the stickers and the labels are all the same listed price per unit at both sizes. So at 500 candles you do not buy a cheaper candle off the shelf. You buy a tighter order — fewer spares, fewer small packs, less stock left over — and you buy the right to ask for a quote.

The mistake: clicking "quantity 5" on the 100-candle cart. Five copies of the 100-candle order cost ₹98,267: the same 100 kg of wax, twenty 500g bottles (₹33,365), 525 jars in 5 × (100 + 5) packs (₹15,753), 600 wicks (₹5,664), 15 sticker sheets (₹1,500) and five care label rolls (₹2,065) — 2,500 labels for 500 candles. It is ₹6,417 more than the planned list below and brings 1.5 kg more oil, 50 more wicks and 2,000 more labels than the planned list. Scale the recipe, then re-choose every pack.

Wax: 95.68 kg, and the bags it comes in

At 8%, 500 candles consume 92 kg of wax. With the 4% planning allowance, 95.68 kg. Nineteen 5 kg bags make 95 kg — 680g short — so the simple order is 100 kg, and that is what the builds below use. If you have measured your real loss, you can stop at 96 kg with a 1 kg bag instead; that route is costed for every wax in how much wax for 500 candles. No CSI soy wax is listed in a 100 kg pack, so every route below is a combination of listed packs, and the listed price per kilo is the ceiling for the order: a quote on WhatsApp can only come in at or below it. What differs between routes is the price, the stated specification — and the number of bags you have to receive, store and open.

Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 10 × 10 kg 10 ₹63,700 ₹637 ₹117.21 Up to 13%

Two things stand out. The spread from the cheapest route to the dearest is ₹23,780 on the order but ₹43.76 inside each candle — the same per-candle gap as at 100, because the per-kilo prices don't change with quantity. And the bag count ranges from 2 to 20. Twenty 5 kg bags are easy to lift but take shelf space and twenty openings; two 50 kg packs are one delivery and one decision, but each is a two-person lift and a long time open once started. Natural Soy Pearl Wax's 50 kg pack is listed at the same ₹424.80 per kilo as its 10 kg bag, so the choice between them is purely about handling.

Don't switch wax on the way to 500
Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the only CSI soy wax listed at 50 kg, which makes it tempting at this size. Its page states no fragrance load and no temperatures. If your 100-candle recipe was proven on Eco Soy CSI 400 or CSI 464, a switch to save handling means re-testing the wick, the load and the cure before pouring 500 — buy a 1 kg bag at ₹450 and do that first. CSI 464's product page text also mentions a 25 kg format that isn't a listed variant; if that pack size suits you, confirm it on WhatsApp rather than assuming it. The full wax maths for this quantity, by candle size, is in how much wax do I need to make 500 candles.

Fragrance: plan scents in kilo-shaped blocks

At 100 candles you choose scents and then bottles. At 500, choose the bottles first and let them shape the scent split.

Eight kilos of oil is too much to buy in 500g bottles and too little to need anything above 1 kg — the largest fragrance pack CSI lists. So the question at 500 is how to split the candles between scents so that each scent uses whole bottles with just enough left for the allowance. The table does the arithmetic once, including the 3% allowance, so you can build any split from it.

Candles one scent's bottles will cover · 200g candle, 3% oil allowance included
Bottle combination → candles at 8% (16g) and at 10% (20g)
Bottles of one scent Oil Candles @ 8% Candles @ 10% Typical role in a 500 range
1 × 500 gm 500 g 30 24 A seasonal or trial scent
1 × 1 kg 1 kg 60 48 A supporting scent
1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 gm 1.5 kg 91 72 A mid-seller
2 × 1 kg 2 kg 121 97 A core scent
2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 gm 2.5 kg 151 121 A strong core scent
3 × 1 kg 3 kg 182 145 The bestseller

The budget build uses three core scents of 120 candles (two 1 kg bottles each, 22.4g spare), one mid-seller of 80 (1 kg + 500g, 181.6g spare) and one supporting scent of 60 (one 1 kg bottle, 11.2g spare): 500 candles, nine 1 kg bottles and one 500g. The premium build, at 10%, uses the right-hand column: two bestsellers of 145, a core of 97, a mid-seller of 65 and a supporting scent of 48. If you already know from the 100-candle run which scent sold fastest, that is your 120 or your 145 — the whole point of running four scents at 100 was to find out.

Don't give every scent 100 candles. A 5 × 100 split looks tidy and fits bottles badly: each scent needs 1,648g with allowance — two 1 kg bottles and 352g left over, five times. That is 2 kg of oil left after the run, counting unused allowance, against 500g in the kilo-shaped split above. Even splits are for spreadsheets; sales are never even. More on sizing the scent library: how to plan fragrance inventory before the festive season.

Budget build for 500 candles: ₹91,850

Same wax, jar and wick as the 100-candle budget build, so a maker scaling up changes nothing that was tested — only the packs and a fifth scent. Every line is a listed, in-stock pack.

Total ₹91,850 ₹169.57 ₹7,065.80
Priced above: per-candle wax = 184g × ₹1,996 ÷ 5,000g; oil = 16g × each 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 (British Rose ₹3,068, Citrus Lemon ₹2,832, Roasted Coffee ₹3,738, Jasmine ₹3,923, Fresh Strawberries ₹3,540), weighted by candles per scent to an average of ₹53.85; Jasmine's 500 gm bottle is ₹1,961. Wicks ₹4,720 ÷ 500 and the 50-pack ₹472; jars ₹2,950 ÷ 100 and the 50-pack ₹1,475; stickers ₹100 ÷ 40; labels ₹413 ÷ 500. Materials inside 500 candles total ₹84,784.20; the rest is the "left" column. The average per candle is 47 paise higher than the 100-candle build mainly because Jasmine, at ₹62.77 of oil, joins the range; the 1 kg bottles pull the other way.

Look at the spare jars. Five 100-packs give exactly 500; the spare question is 25 or 50. Five 5-packs add 25 jars for ₹1,003. One 50-pack adds 50 jars for ₹1,475 — 25 more jars for ₹472, or ₹18.88 each at the margin. That is a better buy than the 5-packs if you will make a second run in the same jar, and a worse one if you won't. The wicks follow the jars: 550 C2 wicks, because a wick-per-jar habit keeps the count simple. And note the one line with nothing left: the 500-label roll covers the run exactly, because labels only go on candles that pass.

Premium build for 500 candles: ₹1,85,663.80

The premium build pours CSI 468 at a 10% load, uses five oils from the woody, oud and amber end of the range, a Performance Wooden Wick and a matte glass jar. Two of its lines hit the top of what CSI lists, which is where the WhatsApp conversation stops being optional.

Per candle, the premium build is ₹341.05 — ₹13.31 less than the 100-candle premium build. Part of that is 1 kg bottles; most of it is the mix. The 100-candle build gave Santal Noir, the dearest oil at ₹9.12 a gram, a quarter of the candles; here it gets 48 of 500. The split is a pricing lever as much as a stock decision.

55 packs of ten is a listing, not a plan. Matte glass jars are listed only in packs of 5 and 10, so 550 of them is 55 separate packs at ₹708. Performance Wooden Wicks have no 500-pack: five 100-packs at ₹4,130 and a 50-pack at ₹2,360 is the cheapest listed route to 550 (six 100-packs would be ₹24,780). Those listed totals are the ceiling. For quantities like these, send the jar colour, the count and your pincode on WhatsApp and ask CSI to quote the whole premium list together — we won't pretend to know that price here, but a single consolidated quote is how an order this size should be placed.

Natural Soy Pearl Wax
The one CSI soy wax listed at 50 kg, at ₹21,240 — ₹424.80 a kilo, the same as its 5 kg and 10 kg bags and ₹25.20 below its 1 kg price. Two 50 kg packs cover a 500-candle run with 4.32 kg beyond the allowance. Its page describes it for "a variety of container types and candle designs" and states no fragrance load or temperatures, so it earns a 500-candle order only after a 1 kg test in your jar.

Wick · 500-pack listed · flat per wick
Eco Candle Wicks · Thick (C2)
One of the few consumables on the list sold in a pack that matches the run: 500 wicks for ₹4,720. The per-wick price is a flat ₹9.44 from the 20-pack up, so the 500-pack is about fewer parcels and fewer counts, not a cheaper wick. The Eco Soy CSI 400 page recommends Eco Wicks, and the coloured Salsa jar pages state they pair well with C2. One buyer's verdict: "Quality wick, works very well".

Fragrance · core scent · 1 kg bottle
British Rose Fragrance Oil
A core scent in the budget build and a good example of why bottle size matters at 500: ₹3,068 for 1 kg against ₹1,593 for 500g, so 2 kg bought as two kilos costs ₹236 less than as four 500g bottles. Per 200g candle at 8% that is ₹49.09 of oil instead of ₹50.98. One CSI buyer described "strong fragrance in cold throw and hot throw" and said you can use "the minimum percentage" — worth testing at 8% before assuming you need more.

Label · the line that doesn't multiply
Candle Care Stickers Roll
At 100 candles, a 500-label roll left 400 on the shelf. At 500 it is used to the last label, which makes it the one line where a 500-candle order is proportionally cheaper. The two listed rolls are different sizes, not just different counts — 500 labels at 1 inch, or 1,000 at 1.5 inch — so choose by what fits your jar base and label layout, not by the lower price per sticker.
Size Price Per piece
Pack of 500 (1 inch) ₹413 ₹0.83
Pack of 1000 (1.5 inch) ₹699 ₹0.70
₹0.83 per label on the 500 roll · ₹413 covers the whole run Buy care sticker roll
The CSI principle
At 100 candles you buy materials. At 500 you buy packs — so design the run around the packs.
Split scents so they finish on whole bottles. Match spare jars and spare wicks to the pack that supplies them. Let the label roll set the size of the run. The candle costs the same either way; the order that fits its packs leaves ₹6,417 more in your account.
At 500 candles, listed prices are the ceiling, not the quote. Send the full list — wax route, scents and kilos, jar and count, wick type, pincode and GST number — and CSI will come back on the consolidated order and documentation.

Fix the candle before the orderWrite the recipe per candle from your tested run: weighed fill, load, wax, wick, jar. If the jar states millilitres, the weighed fill — not the listing — sets the grams. At 200g and 8% that is 184g of wax and 16g of oil; at a lighter fill, every quantity below falls.
2
Split the 500 by scent, in bottle blocksUse your 100-candle sales to rank scents, then give each a candle count from the kilo-shaped table: 182, 121, 91, 60 or 30 at 8%. Adjust until the counts add to 500.
3
Choose the wax routeWax × 500 × 1.04, rounded up to whole packs of the wax you tested. Decide between the routes by bag count and storage space, not by assuming bigger bags are cheaper — on most CSI soy waxes they aren't.
4
Size spares to the pack that supplies themJars and wicks: the largest listed pack × 5, plus the smallest spare pack that gives you a margin you'll actually use. Stickers: one per wick, in sheets of 40. Labels: one roll of 500.
5
Price it at listed rates, then askTotal the sheet at listed prices — that is your ceiling. Then send the same sheet on WhatsApp with your pincode, GST number and whether this is a one-off or a repeat order, and ask for a consolidated quote and the MSDS/IFRA documents you need.

Timing matters more at 500 than at 100. Soy container candles are commonly cured 14–21 days, and 500 is several pouring sessions, not one — so the last candle poured is the one that sets your earliest sell date. For a festive run aimed at Diwali on 8 November 2026, the materials should be on your bench in time to finish pouring in early October. If you plan to repeat 500 every month, the purchasing logic changes again — reorder points, cash cycle, standing quotes — and that is covered in making 500 candles every month. For the next jump in scale, see raw materials required to make 1,000 candles.

Five hundred candles is where a shopping list becomes a purchase order. Write it like one.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. The simplest thing for a supplier to tell a 500-candle buyer is "order five times what you ordered last time". We have shown why that costs ₹6,417 more and leaves 2,000 labels and 1.5 kg of extra oil on your shelf. A maker who orders to the packs spends less with us on this run and is far more likely to run the next one.

Every price, pack size and specification on this page is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Loads and temperatures are quoted only where the product page states them — up to 13% for CSI 468, up to 10% for CSI 464, 8–13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — and we say where a page states nothing. We don't publish or predict quoted prices: the listed per-kilo and per-pack figures here are the ceiling, and quotes are given on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax do I need to make 500 candles?
For 500 × 200g candles at 8%, 92 kg (184g each); at 10%, 90 kg. With a 4% planning allowance that is 95.68 kg or 93.6 kg, so you will buy 100 kg — twenty 5 kg bags, ten 10 kg bags, or, for Natural Soy Pearl Wax, two 50 kg packs. Smaller candles scale down in proportion. Every size and load is worked through in how much wax do I need to make 500 candles.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 500 candles?
8 kg at 8% or 10 kg at 10% for 500 × 200g candles, before allowance. Plan it in whole bottles: with a 3% allowance, 1 kg covers 60 candles at 8% and 48 at 10%. A five-scent split of 120/120/120/80/60 uses nine 1 kg bottles and one 500g. For the fragrance question on its own, see how much fragrance oil do I need for 500 candles.
What does it cost to make 500 candles in India?
In raw materials at CSI's September 2026 listed prices, a budget build costs ₹91,850 for 500 × 200g candles with spares — Eco Soy CSI 400, five scents in 1 kg bottles, Eco C2 wicks, clear 200ml Salsa jars, stickers and labels — or ₹169.57 per candle. A premium build with CSI 468 at 10%, premium oils, wooden wicks and matte jars is ₹1,85,663.80, or ₹341.05 per candle. Packaging, shipping and labour are extra; quotes may come in below listed prices.
Can I buy 500 candle jars and 500 wicks in one pack?
Wicks, yes: Eco Candle Wicks are listed in 500-packs (C2 ₹4,720, C1 ₹2,950), as are Cotton Braided Wicks (₹6,000). Performance Wooden Wicks top out at 100. Jars, no: the clear 200ml Salsa jar's largest pack is 100 (₹2,950), and matte glass jars are listed only in 5s and 10s. For 500 jars, buy five 100-packs, or send the count on WhatsApp for a quote.
Is it cheaper per candle to make 500 candles than 100?
Only slightly at listed prices. Most CSI soy waxes, Eco wicks, Salsa jars in 50s and 100s, wick stickers and care labels cost the same per unit at both sizes. The difference is oil: 1 kg bottles save ₹0 to ₹1.89 per candle on the budget scents. The larger saving is in the order itself — ₹6,417 less than five 100-candle carts — and in being able to ask for a consolidated quote.
Should I order all raw materials for 500 candles at once?
If the recipe is proven and you have dry, shaded storage for about 100 kg of wax and 500 jars, one consolidated order is simplest and is the best basis for a quote. If space or cash is tight, split it into two deliveries — all of one scent group's wax, oil, wicks and jars first — so every delivery is a complete set of candles. Staggered buying for bigger runs is set out in raw materials for 1,000 candles.
