A 500-candle order is not a big batch. It is four pour days, one fill weight and one number you have to get right before you order.

The quantity answer for a 500-candle order — by fill size, by container, in packs you can actually buy, with the pour days and the cure that have to fit before the festival.
107 kg
wax for 500 × 200 g candles — 100 kg net plus a 7% allowance · 33 kg at a 60 g votive fill · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much soy wax do 500 candles need? Fill weight × 500, plus an allowance. At 200 g that is 100 kg net and 107 kg to buy; at 150 g, 75 kg net and 81 kg to buy; at a 60 g votive, 30 kg net and 33 kg to buy. In Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 the 107 kg plan is ₹54,291.80.

What does 500 candles of wax, oil and wicks cost? At a 200 g fill with an 8% load: ₹54,291.80 of wax, ₹37,948.80 of Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil and ₹3,245.00 of Eco Candle Wicks₹95,485.60, or ₹190.97 a candle before the jar.

How many packs of soy wax is 107 kg? Ten 10 kg packs, one 5 kg and two 1 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. The rate is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike, so the combination changes the number of bags you open, not the price. The store lists packs up to 10 kg; for one consignment above that, ask on WhatsApp.

How long does it take to pour and cure 500 soy candles? Plan four pour days of about 125 candles, a top-up the following morning, then 14–21 days of cure before they ship. Counting back from Diwali on 8 November 2026, that means wax on your table by early October and pouring finished by about mid-October.
The short answer
Weigh the fill first: the whole plan hangs on grams of wax per candle — 200 g gives 100 kg net for 500 candles, 150 g gives 75 kg, a 70 g votive gives 35 kg.
Add 7%, then round to packs: a 200 g order becomes 107 kg, bought as ten 10 kg, one 5 kg and two 1 kg packs for ₹54,291.80.
Then work backwards from the date: four pour days, one top-up morning each, 14–21 days of cure — a Diwali order poured after mid-October is a rushed order.

A 500-candle festive plan read backwards from Diwali on 8 November 2026: the wax has to land before the pour days, and the cure is the part nobody can compress. Deliberately left out: jar lead times and courier transit, which vary by supplier and pin code.
Straight answer
How much soy wax do I need to make 500 candles?
Multiply the fill weight — grams of wax in one finished candle — by 500, then add an allowance for what you will not pour. At a 200 g fill that is 100 kg net and 107 kg with a 7% allowance, bought as ten 10 kg packs, one 5 kg and two 1 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 for ₹54,291.80. At a 150 g fill it is 75 kg net and 81 kg to buy, ₹41,099.40; at a 70 g votive, 35 kg net and 38 kg to buy, ₹19,281.20. Add fragrance at a share of wax weight — 8% of 100 kg is 8 kg of oil, ₹37,948.80 in Apple Cinnamon — and 550 Eco Candle Wicks C1 at ₹3,245.00, for a materials total of ₹95,485.60 before jars. Then check the calendar, because 500 candles is four pour days and a 14–21 day cure: for Diwali on 8 November 2026, the wax needs to be on your table in the first days of October and the pouring finished by about mid-October.
One line: Fill weight × 500, plus 7%, rounded to packs: 107 kg for a 200 g candle, 81 kg at 150 g, 38 kg at a 70 g votive.
Ordering for 500 candles? The 200 g plan on this page is 107 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, 8 kg of Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil at ₹4,743.60 a kilogram and 550 Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) — ₹95,485.60 in total, prices inclusive of taxes, GST invoicing on request.

How much wax 500 candles need, by fill size

There is no single answer, because a 500-candle order can be 30 kg of wax or 150 kg. The fill weight decides, and everything else follows.

Start with one number and one number only: the grams of soy wax in one finished candle. Not the jar's volume, not the jar's advertised capacity — the weight of wax you actually pour, including whatever top-up the candle takes the next morning. Multiply by 500 for net wax, add an allowance for the wax that never reaches a jar, then round up to packs the store actually sells. The table below does that at six common Indian fill weights with a 7% allowance throughout.

Quantity matrix
500 candles: wax needed, wax to buy and what it costs in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464
Fill Net wax With 7% allowance Packs to buy Wax cost Per candle
60 g votive 30.00 kg 32.10 kg 33 kg · 3 × 10 kg + 3 × 1 kg ₹16,744.20 ₹33.49
100 g 50.00 kg 53.50 kg 54 kg · 5 × 10 kg + 4 × 1 kg ₹27,399.60 ₹54.80
150 g 75.00 kg 80.25 kg 81 kg · 8 × 10 kg + 1 × 1 kg ₹41,099.40 ₹82.20

300 g 150.00 kg 160.50 kg 161 kg · 16 × 10 kg + 1 × 1 kg ₹81,691.40 ₹163.38
Priced above: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — 10 kg ₹5,074.00, 5 kg ₹2,537.00, 1 kg ₹507.40, 500 g ₹260.00; the rate is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg and ₹520.00/kg at 500 g. Prices inclusive of taxes, September 2026.

Read the two ends of that table before you choose a jar. Five hundred votives take 33 kg of wax and 500 large jars take 161 kg — nearly five times the quantity, five times the storage, and a difference of ₹64,947.20 in wax alone. Fill size is the single biggest decision in the order, and it is usually made by the jar you fell in love with on Instagram rather than by arithmetic. Make it deliberately.

A second honest point about this table: at CSI the per-kilogram rate does not improve as the quantity rises. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg whether the order is 1 kg or 107 kg. So the 300 g row is not a worse deal per kilogram than the 60 g row — it is simply five times as much wax. The saving in a 500-candle order comes from choosing the right fill weight and the right load, not from the pack size.

Work from the container, not from the jar label

CSI lists most containers by the weight of wax they take — a 70 gram votive, an 85 gram tin, a 150 gram jar — which makes planning straightforward, because that stated fill weight is your line 1. Where a container is listed by volume instead, convert with care: soy is commonly taken as roughly 0.9 g per ml, and a candle needs headspace, so a 200 ml jar takes closer to 160 g of wax than 200 g. Getting this wrong by 40 g a candle is a 20 kg error across 500 candles.

The 160 g figure for the Salsa jar is an illustrative conversion from volume, not a published fill weight — weigh a poured sample before you order 500.
Ordering wax for 500 candles before you have poured one. The fill weight you assume and the fill weight you pour are rarely the same: wicks sit differently, you leave more or less headspace, and the top-up pour adds 3–6 g. On a 200 g plan, a 10 g error is 5 kg of wax across the order, ₹2,537.00 either wasted or missing at candle 470. Pour five candles, weigh them, average, and order from that number.
BUY THE JARS FIRST
Jars decide the fill weight, the wick and roughly half the retail price, and they are the item most likely to be out of stock at festival time. Settle the container, weigh a poured sample, then order wax. If you are pouring 500 into wide jars — anything over 8 cm across — the wick line changes too: Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12.00 each is ₹6,000.00 for 500 against ₹2,950.00 for 500 Eco C1.

What the 7% allowance is doing at 500 candles

The allowance is the wax you buy and never sell: film clinging to the pitcher and melter, second-pour top-ups, the dregs at the bottom of a melt, and the handful of candles that come out wrong. On a 100-candle first run, 7% is a fair planning figure. At 500 candles it usually falls, because the fixed losses — the film in the melter, the dregs — are spread over more candles and because you are pouring the same jar repeatedly instead of learning it.

Here is what that is worth in wax. On 100 kg net, every percentage point of allowance is 1 kg of wax, ₹507.40. A maker who runs at 4% buys 104 kg and spends ₹52,769.60; at 7% it is 107 kg and ₹54,291.80; at 10% it is 110 kg and ₹55,814.00. The spread between a careful process and a wasteful one across this single order is about ₹3,044.40 — roughly the cost of six extra candles, which is real but is not the number that will make or break the job. Use 7% until your own weights say otherwise, and do not let the allowance debate delay the order.

One allowance line does get bigger at 500, not smaller: rejects concentrated in the first session. If something is wrong with the wick, the pour temperature or the jar, you find out after 125 candles, not after 10. That is the real argument for splitting the run across four days rather than hiring help and pouring 500 in one marathon — and for burning one candle from session one before session two begins.

Treating the allowance as a buffer you can spend. The 7 kg on a 107 kg order is not spare wax for an extra 35 candles; it is the wax that will be left in pitchers, poured as top-ups and thrown away with rejects. If you plan to sell 500 candles and quietly hope the allowance yields 520, you will finish the run short and pay for a second delivery of a single 5 kg pack to complete an order — the most expensive wax you will ever buy.

The pack plan, the grade and the whole basket

The store lists soy in 500 g, 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg packs, so a 107 kg order is a combination, not a single item. Ten 10 kg packs, one 5 kg and two 1 kg packs is the tidiest cover. Because the rate is flat, any combination that adds to 107 kg costs the same ₹54,291.80 — choose the one with the fewest bags. If you would rather carry a small buffer, eleven 10 kg packs gives 110 kg for ₹55,814.00, and the extra 3 kg becomes opening stock for the next run rather than waste.

For a single consignment of more than 10 kg in one pack size, or for the whole 107 kg landing together, ask on WhatsApp — bulk pricing, GST invoicing and MSDS or IFRA documentation are all handled there, and it is also where a delivery of this weight gets planned properly rather than arriving as eleven separate parcels.

Grade changes the wax line more than anything else in the basket. At 107 kg, Eco Soy CSI 400 comes to ₹42,714.40, Natural Soy Pearl Wax to ₹45,453.60, CSI 464 to ₹54,291.80, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks to ₹64,093.00 and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 to ₹68,159.00. That is a ₹25,444.60 spread across the order. It is also the worst possible moment to change grade: a 500-candle deadline is not the time to discover that a new wax wants a different pour temperature and a different wick. Test the grade on a small batch this month and use it for the next 500.

Pouring 500 for Diwali? Order the wax and the oil together so they land in one consignment: 107 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 8 kg of fragrance oil and 550 Eco Candle Wicks. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026, so with a 14–21 day cure the pour needs to finish by about mid-October — which puts the order in the first days of October at the latest.

Splitting 500 candles across scents

Almost nobody sells 500 identical candles. The moment you split the order, the fragrance line stops being one number.

The wax does not care: 100 kg is 100 kg whether it becomes one scent or ten. The oil does care, and how much depends entirely on whether your oil is priced flat across pack sizes or in tiers. Apple Cinnamon is ₹4.74 a gram from the 50 gm bottle up to the 1 kg pack, so splitting is free. British Rose runs ₹4.25/g at 50 gm, ₹3.42/g at 100 gm, ₹3.19/g at 500 gm and ₹3.07/g at 1 kg, so every split pushes part of your order up the ladder.

Scent splits
8 kg of fragrance oil for 500 candles, split different ways
Split Oil per scent Apple Cinnamon (flat) British Rose (tiered) Tiered penalty
1 scent 8.0 kg ₹37,948.80 ₹24,544.00
2 scents 4.0 kg each ₹37,948.80 ₹24,544.00
5 scents 1.6 kg each ₹37,948.80 ₹25,016.00 ₹472.00
10 scents 800 g each ₹37,948.80 ₹26,196.00 ₹1,652.00
Per candle at 8% 16 g ₹75.90 ₹49.09

Two practical rules follow. First, split into quantities that land on pack boundaries: 1 kg, 500 g or 100 g per scent, not 800 g, because awkward quantities are bought in awkward packs. Second, keep the scent count down for the first big order — five scents across 500 candles means five separate wick and cure checks, five labels and five pieces of stock you might be left holding. Vanillin-bearing oils add one more consideration: the Apple Cinnamon page notes vanillin is present and advises testing in white wax, so if half your 500 are white candles, pour a sample and leave it in the light for a week before committing.

The CSI principle
Quantity planning is a weighing job, not a guessing job.
Five poured candles on a scale settle the fill weight; a 10 g mistake there moves a 500-candle order by 5 kg of wax and ₹2,537.00.

Pouring 500 and curing them in time

Five hundred candles is not a scale problem, it is a scheduling one. Work it in sessions of about 125, four days apart if you can, and count backwards from the date the customer needs them.

1
Fix the fill weight and confirm the quantityPour five candles in the exact jar, wick and scent you will use, cure them 48 hours, weigh them, subtract the jars and take the average. Multiply by 500, add 7%, and round up to packs. On a 200 g fill that is 107 kg — order it as one consignment rather than topping up later.
2
Plan the melts before you plan the daysAt a 200 g fill, a 10 kg melt fills 50 candles, so 500 candles is ten full melts. A Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360.00 holds about 0.9 kg — four or five candles a melt, which means more than a hundred cycles for this order; it is a sampling and testing tool, not a 500-candle tool. Match your melt size to your session size, and keep the wax at the temperature your grade's page states rather than reheating repeatedly.
3
Pour in four sessions, and burn one candle after the firstAbout 125 candles a session, with the next morning kept free for top-ups and wick trims. Before session two, burn one candle from session one for three hours and look at the melt pool: this is the only cheap moment to discover a wick problem. A run of 500 with the wrong wick is 500 candles you have to discount.
4
Cure, then pack — and protect the cure from the weatherGive soy container candles 14–21 days before they ship; the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page asks for 48 hours minimum and ideally 1–2 weeks, and oil pages often quote 48–72 hours for a first read of throw. Cure lidded, out of direct sun, below about 30°C. In a Mumbai or Kochi monsoon, keep boxes off the floor; in a Delhi or Ahmedabad October, keep them away from a west-facing wall.

Then do the calendar arithmetic honestly. Diwali 2026 is 8 November 2026. Working back: two or three days to label, box and hand over to a courier that will be slower than usual in the festival week; 14–21 days of cure before that; four pour days and their top-up mornings before that; and the wax on your table before any of it. That puts the last safe pour at about mid-October and the order in the first days of that month. Wedding and corporate orders behave the same way — the cure is the fixed part, and it is the part customers never see and never allow for.

You can hire a second pair of hands for the pour. Nobody can hire a shorter cure.

When 500 is the wrong number to buy for

Against our own sales interest: do not buy 107 kg of wax for a 500-candle order that is still a conversation. A confirmed purchase order with an advance is a reason to buy the whole quantity in one consignment; an enquiry from a corporate buyer who wants to see samples first is not. Soy keeps well — the CSI 464 page gives a 60 month shelf life in cool, dry storage away from sunlight and moisture — so unused wax is not wasted, but ₹54,291.80 tied up in flakes while you wait for a confirmation is cash you cannot spend on jars.

Two sensible half-measures. If the order is likely but unconfirmed, buy the first session's wax — 30 kg, ₹15,222.00 — pour 125 candles, and place the balance when the order lands; the rate does not improve with volume, so you lose nothing by splitting except a second delivery charge. If the order is confirmed but the scent is not, buy all the wax and none of the oil: wax is the long-lead item and the one the whole plan waits on, while fragrance can be added scent by scent as the customer decides.

And if the 500 are for your own retail rather than one buyer, be honest about how long they will take to sell. Five hundred cured candles sitting in a Chennai summer storeroom are not stock, they are a slow problem: soy softens in heat, labels lift, and a candle that has spent four months at 38°C does not present like a fresh one. Plan quantity against the weeks you can actually sell through, not against the batch size that felt efficient.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells the wax, so a page about buying 107 kg of it has an obvious bias. The honest version is on the page: the per-kilogram rate does not fall as your order grows on most CSI soy grades, a careful process saves more than any pack decision, and if your 500-candle order is not confirmed you should buy one session's wax rather than the whole quantity.

Every price is from live CSI stock in September 2026 and the linked product pages are authoritative. Fragrance ceilings and working figures are quoted from those pages: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10% of total wax weight with a 60 month shelf life in cool, dry storage; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, cure 48 hours minimum and ideally 1–2 weeks; Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil 6–10% in soy with a 48–72 hour cure and vanillin present. Eco Soy CSI 400 and Natural Soy Pearl Wax do not publish fragrance ceilings, and CSI does not publish wick sizes by jar diameter. The 7% allowance, the session sizes, the 0.9 g per ml conversion and the calendar are planning conventions and general practice, not CSI measurements.

WhatsApp +91 7397976926 for a bulk quote on 107 kg or more, for GST invoicing, for MSDS and IFRA documentation, or to have a 500-candle quantity plan checked against current pack sizes and stock before you commit to the order.

Frequently asked questions

How many kilograms of soy wax do I need for 500 candles?
At a 200 g fill, 100 kg net and 107 kg once you add a 7% allowance. At 150 g it is 75 kg net and 81 kg to buy; at 100 g, 50 kg net and 54 kg; at a 60 g votive, 30 kg net and 33 kg; at 300 g, 150 kg net and 161 kg. Always work from the weight of wax you actually pour, measured on a cured sample candle.
How much does the wax for 500 candles cost?
107 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹54,291.80 at ₹507.40/kg. The same quantity is ₹42,714.40 in Eco Soy CSI 400, ₹45,453.60 in Natural Soy Pearl Wax, ₹64,093.00 in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and ₹68,159.00 in Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468.
How much fragrance oil do 500 candles need?
Load is a share of wax weight, so 8% of 100 kg of wax is 8 kg of oil — 16 g in each 200 g candle. In Apple Cinnamon that is ₹37,948.80; in British Rose at the 1 kg rate it is ₹24,544.00. Splitting the order across scents can add up to ₹1,652.00 on a tiered oil and nothing at all on a flat-priced one.
How many wicks should I order for 500 candles?
Order about 550 — the run plus roughly 10% spares for trimming mistakes and failed stickers. In Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) that is a 500-pack plus a 50-pack, ₹3,245.00; in Thick (C2) it is ₹5,192.00. The per-wick price is the same in every pack size, so there is no saving to chase by buying a bigger pack.
How long does it take to make 500 soy candles?
Plan four pour days of about 125 candles each, a top-up and trim the following morning, then 14–21 days of cure before dispatch — about three to four weeks from first pour to shipping. At a 200 g fill each 10 kg melt fills 50 candles, so the whole order is ten full melts of wax.
Is 500 candles enough to get a bulk discount on soy wax?
The listed rate does not change: CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg and at 10 kg alike, and only CSI 468 and Natural Soy Pearl Wax step down with pack size. For a consignment of 107 kg, bulk pricing and freight are a WhatsApp conversation on +91 7397976926 rather than a cart calculation.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on their product pages. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me. One longer review is shortened with an ellipsis; wording is otherwise unedited. Two are below five stars and one is not recorded as a verified purchase — shown as recorded. Not recorded by Judge.me as a verified purchase, so shown without a verified-buyer badge: Ashwini.
