At the standard 200g size and an 8% fragrance load, 1,000 candles take 184 kg of wax, 16 kg of fragrance oil and 1,000 wicks. This guide turns those three numbers into listed packs, a ₹2,16,501.84 order and a pour calendar worked backwards from Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026.
184 kg · 16 kg · 1,000
wax · fragrance oil · wicks for 1,000 × 200g candles at 8% · buy ≈190 kg of wax and ≈16.6 kg of oil with a 3% planning allowance · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much wax, fragrance oil and wick for 1,000 candles? At 200g and an 8% load, 184 kg of wax, 16 kg of oil and 1,000 wicks. With a 3% planning allowance, buy about 190 kg of wax (nineteen 10 kg bags), about 16.5 kg of oil and 50 spare wicks.

When do I have to pour? Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. For an example in-hand date of 1 November with an assumed five-day transit, the last woody or gourmand pour is Monday 5 October (21-day cure) and the last pour of anything is Monday 12 October (14-day cure).

Where should I buy it? From one supplier, in one order, this week. At CSI: 19 × 10 kg of CSI 464 (₹96,406), four festive oils (₹75,809.84), 1,050 Eco Candle Wicks (₹9,912) and 1,050 jars (₹30,975) — ₹2,16,501.84 with stickers.

Is anything not listed? No 190 kg wax pack, no 5 kg fragrance bottle and no 1,000-jar pack. Listed prices are the ceiling; a consolidated order is quoted on WhatsApp.
The short answer
Buy from one number: 184g of wax and 16g of oil per 200g candle, times 1,000, plus 3%. Bags, bottles and packs are just that number divided by the pack size.
Plan in melter loads, not in days: at 90 candles per load on a 20 kg melter, 1,000 candles are 12 loads — woody and gourmand scents first, florals last.
Order everything this week, in one message: in mid-September there is no room for a second order that lands after your heavy-scent pour window has closed.

Calendar days from today, Friday 11 September, to Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026. One 90-candle load a day pours all 1,000 by 3 October, so every candle gets 21 days and the dashed week stays empty as insurance. Arrival and transit bars are assumptions — use your own dates.
Straight answer
I'm making 1,000 candles for Diwali. How much wax, fragrance oil and wick do I need, where do I buy it, and is mid-September too late?
For 1,000 candles at 200g and an 8% load you need 184 kg of wax, 16 kg of fragrance oil and 1,000 wicks; with a 3% planning allowance and spares, buy 190 kg of wax, about 16.6 kg of oil and 1,050 wicks. It is not too late, but today is the order day. At CSI, 19 × 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (stated up to 10%) is ₹96,406; a four-scent range of Sandalwood, Cinnamon Vanilla, Jasmine and Woody Oud in 1 kg bottles is ₹75,809.84; Eco Candle Wicks C2 are ₹9,440 per 1,000; and 200ml Salsa jars are ₹29.50 each in 100s. With stickers the order is ₹2,16,501.84, or ₹208.44 of materials inside each candle. Diwali is Sunday 8 November. Assuming materials arrive within 7 days and courier transit takes 5, pour one 90-candle load a day from Monday 21 September on a 20 kg melter: woody and gourmand scents first, Jasmine last, all 12 loads done by 3 October. The hard stops are 5 October for 21-day scents and 12 October for anything. For one consolidated quote, send the list on WhatsApp.
One line: 1,000 × 200g candles = 184 kg wax + 16 kg oil + 1,000 wicks; buy 190 kg, 16.6 kg and 1,050 in one order this week, and pour 12 loads between 21 September and 3 October.
The three lines that make up most of the order: CSI 464 at ₹5,074 per 10 kg, festive oils in 1 kg bottles from ₹3,923 (Jasmine), and Eco Candle Wicks C2 at ₹9,440 for 1,000.

1,000 candles in kilos, bottles and wicks

It sounds like three questions. It is one number, multiplied by a thousand.

Every quantity in a festive run comes from the recipe of one candle. In this series a fragrance load is a percentage of the finished candle, so a 200g candle at 8% is 184g of wax and 16g of oil. Times 1,000, that is 184 kg of wax and 16 kg of oil, and a single-wick candle takes one wick. Some pages phrase load the other way — the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page gives its range "of total wax weight", which at 8% makes a 200g candle about 185.2g of wax and 14.8g of oil. Neither is wrong; mixing them across 1,000 candles is. Pick one convention, write it on every batch sheet, and weigh to it.

1,000 candles · wax, oil and bags by candle size and load
What a thousand candles need at the sizes Diwali ranges sell
Size · load Wax per candle Oil per candle Wax for 1,000 Oil for 1,000 Wax + 3% Oil + 3% 10 kg bags
150g · 8% 138g 12g 138 kg 12 kg 142.3 kg 12.4 kg 15
150g · 10% 135g 15g 135 kg 15 kg 139.2 kg 15.5 kg 14
200g · 8% 184g 16g 184 kg 16 kg 189.7 kg 16.5 kg 19
200g · 10% 180g 20g 180 kg 20 kg 185.6 kg 20.6 kg 19
250g · 8% 230g 20g 230 kg 20 kg 237.1 kg 20.6 kg 24
Worked out above: oil = size × load; wax = size − oil. Allowance = quantity ÷ 0.97, so 184 kg becomes 189.7 kg and rounds up to nineteen 10 kg bags. The 3% is a planning allowance for spills, melter and jug residue and top-ups, not a measured loss rate — use your own reject rate if you have one. 10% is shown only for waxes whose stated ceiling allows it; CSI 464 is stated up to 10%.

Two things in that table move the order more than any wax choice. Going from 8% to 10% at 200g leaves the bag count at nineteen but adds 4 kg of oil — ₹20,107.20 at Sandalwood's 1 kg price. Dropping from 200g to 150g takes 46 kg of wax off. Fix the candle size before you fix the quantities.

The trap: planning on a jar's millilitres. The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar states a 200ml capacity, not a fill weight, and wax does not weigh the same as water — nor do you fill to the brim. Pour one jar to your fill line and weigh it before ordering 190 kg. If it holds, say, 170g (an illustration, not a stated figure), 1,000 candles at 8% need 156.4 kg of wax and 13.6 kg of oil: 27.6 kg less wax, worth ₹14,004.24 at ₹507.40 a kilo.

Wicks need a small allowance of their own: test jars, a wick knocked off-centre and the odd reject all use one. Plan 1,050 wicks (5% spare, a planning figure), and count double-wick candles twice.

Back-planning 1,000 candles from Sunday 8 November

Diwali does not move, and neither does the day your customer needs the candle. Everything you control sits between today and that day.

Today is Friday 11 September 2026: 58 days to Diwali. Plan backwards from three dates. The in-hand date — we use Sunday 1 November, a week before the festival. The dispatch date — in-hand minus courier transit, which we assume is five days; that is an assumption, not a courier or supplier promise, so replace it with the transit you actually see to your customers' pincodes. And the last pour date — pack-out minus a cure of 14–21 days, standard practice for soy container candles.

Example Diwali 2026 production calendar · 1,000 candles · 12 loads
What happens on each date, and why that date
Date Days to Diwali What happens Why then
Fri 11 – Sat 12 Sep 58–57 Freeze the scent list, weigh a filled jar, send one consolidated order Every later date waits on materials
By Fri 18 Sep (assumed) 51 Goods in: count, check against invoice, sticker the first 90 jars 7-day arrival is an assumption — ask about dispatch timing when ordering
Mon 21 – Wed 30 Sep 48–39 Loads 1–9: Sandalwood (4), Woody Oud (2), Cinnamon Vanilla (3) — 750 candles Woody, spicy and gourmand scents gain most from 21 days
Thu 1 – Sat 3 Oct 38–36 Loads 10–12: Jasmine — 250 candles On plan, the floral also gets 21 days
Mon 5 Oct · Mon 12 Oct 34 · 27 Hard stops: woody/gourmand loads by 5 Oct; any load by 12 Oct +21 days and +14 days both land on 26 Oct
Mon 12 – Sat 24 Oct 27–15 Loads reach 21 days in pour order: burn-check one per load, pack, dispatch First in, first out
Mon 26 · Tue 27 Oct 13 · 12 Final pack-out · final dispatch 1 Nov in-hand minus assumed 5-day transit
Sun 8 Nov 0 Diwali Fixed
Fourteen days is a floor, not a plan
As general practice, fresh and citrus blends settle by about 14 days, florals want 14–18, and woody, gourmand and oriental oils keep developing towards 21. So the heavy scents pour first and Jasmine last: if anything must lose cure time, it is the scent that minds least. More in how cure time changes the smell of different fragrance families.
The mistake: a recipe you have never burned, at 1,000 units. If this exact wax, wick, jar and oil have not passed a burn test, pour test jars the day materials arrive (Saturday 19 September) and burn them at day 7 (Saturday 26 September). Day 7 won't show final throw, but it shows whether the wick opens a clean full pool. Production then starts Monday 28 September; the nine heavy loads get seven pour days to 5 October (two loads on at least two days) and Jasmine moves to 6–8 October with an 18–20 day cure. Adding a scent never smelled in wax is not workable — choose from proven Diwali fragrance families, and see how early to order fragrance oils for Diwali for next year.

Twelve melter loads: can you pour 1,000 in time?

A kilo count tells you what to buy. A load count tells you whether you can make it.

At 1,000 candles the constraint is how much wax you can melt, fragrance and pour in a day. The Electric Wax Melter (Imported) is listed at ₹21,240 for 10 kg capacity and ₹25,960 for 20 kg; its page states it "can melt 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C". A CSI customer using it for nine months reports 10 kg melting "in mere 20-30 minutes" — one buyer's experience, not a specification. The 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter (₹2,360) is a test-jar tool.

For planning we load the 20 kg melter with 90 candles of one scent — 16.56 kg of wax plus 1.44 kg of oil, 18 kg, leaving headroom below the stated capacity — and the 10 kg melter with 50: 9.2 kg plus 0.8 kg, exactly its stated 10 kg. Candles per load is an assumption; weigh and time your first load before promising a date.

Pour-rate scenarios · start Monday 21 September · Sundays off
How many loads a day it takes to beat the hard stops
Melter Candles per load Loads Loads per day Last pour Verdict
20 kg · ₹25,960 90 12 1 Sat 3 Oct The plan above: all 1,000 get 21 days, a week of buffer
20 kg · ₹25,960 90 12 2 Sat 26 Sep Early finish; room for a 13th load of a sell-out scent
10 kg · ₹21,240 50 20 2 Thu 1 Oct Works, with two full pours every working day
10 kg · ₹21,240 50 20 1 Tue 13 Oct Fails: misses 12 Oct, and heavy loads run to 7 Oct

The last row is the most common plan, and it fails: fifteen heavy-scent loads at one a day run to Wednesday 7 October, two days past their stop. The fix is a bigger melter, a second daily pour, or fewer candles — not more wax. That is why the melter decision belongs in the same week as the wax order; the two capacities are compared in professional wax melters for candle making.

1
The evening before: sticker 90 jarsCentre a wick in each with a wick sticker and mark each tray with load number and scent.
2
Melt 16.56 kg of wax to your wax page's temperatureThe CSI 464 page states melting point and pour temperature both as 80–90°C; the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states fragrance in at 80–90°C and a pour at 70–80°C. Log the reading you actually used.
3
Weigh 1,440g of oil and stir for two full minutesThat is 90 × 16g, weighed on a scale checked against a known weight (its capacity is not stated, so split the charge if needed). Two minutes is what the Eco Soy CSI 400 and Luxury Soy Chunks pages specify.
4
Pour in fours and log the loadA 4-nozzle pouring funnel fills four jars a pour. Then one line: load, scent, wax bag, oil bottle, temperatures, jars poured, rejects, pour date and cure-end date — so a failed burn-check points to exactly 90 candles.
5
Shelve by load, dispatch first-in, first-outLids on once set, cartons marked by load, out of sunlight. By 3 October all 1,000 are curing at once — count shelf space before the wax arrives.
Priced above (one-time equipment): Electric Wax Melter 20 kg ₹25,960 · Wax Pouring Funnel (4 nozzles) ₹1,888 · Steel Pouring Pitcher 600 ml ₹708 · Pen Thermometer ₹354 · Weighing Scale ₹354 — ₹29,264 in all, not included in the materials total below.

Which wax, and what 190 kg costs from listed packs

Nineteen bags of the wax you have already burned beats nineteen bags of a better wax you haven't.

No CSI soy wax is listed anywhere near 190 kg. The largest packs are 10 kg on most waxes, 5 kg on Eco Soy CSI 400 and 50 kg on Natural Soy Pearl Wax, so the listed price of 190 kg is a sum of bags.

The costed run uses CSI 464. Its page states a load of up to 10%, so an 8% festive recipe sits inside a published ceiling; it is stated for single-pour container candles; it is the lowest-cost CSI wax that publishes both a load and temperatures; and it lists a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage, so a spare bag is not wasted. Eco Soy CSI 400 would save ₹20,558, but neither it nor Natural Soy Pearl Wax states a load. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks give the most stated room (8–13%) for ₹16.86 more wax per candle. Either switch makes sense only if it is the wax you tested.

16 kg of fragrance across a Diwali range

Sixteen kilos of fragrance is not one purchase. It is four decisions about which candles sell out first.

The split below is an example, not a forecast — replace the counts with your order book or your corporate client's brief. It anchors on Sandalwood, adds a warm gourmand, a traditional floral and an oud, and pours each in whole melter loads. For choosing the families, see five Diwali candle fragrances that can become bestsellers; for corporate orders, the best fragrance oils for corporate gifting candles.

Oil per candle = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × 16g; weighted by candle count.

The price ladders decide the bottles. On Sandalwood and Woody Oud the price per gram is flat from 100g to 1 kg, so small top-up bottles cost nothing extra. On Jasmine the kilo is ₹3.92 a gram against ₹4.30 in 100g bottles — about 8.8% cheaper — so buy whole kilos; Cinnamon Vanilla's kilo is 5.9% cheaper per gram than its 100g. No oil here is listed in a 5 kg bottle, so Sandalwood's 5.8 kg arrives as nine bottles; ask on WhatsApp rather than assume a larger format exists.

The mistake: ten scents at 100 candles each. It feels safer. In production it is the opposite: each scent is at least one melter load, and 100 candles overflows a 90-candle load, so ten scents means twenty loads and twenty oil changeovers instead of twelve — plus ten half-used bottles in November. Four to six scents in whole loads is what one workshop can deliver. The inventory logic is in how to plan fragrance inventory before the festive season.

Wicks, jars and the full order, costed

Wax and oil are the heavy lines. The small lines are the ones that stop a pour.

A thousand wicks is the one quantity CSI lists as a single pack: ₹5,900 for Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1), ₹9,440 for Thick (C2) and ₹12,000 for Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made, whose page states they are for candles "exceeding 8 cm". Performance Wooden Wicks have no 1,000-pack; 10 × 100 is ₹41,300. The Eco wick page gives no diameter guidance, so buy the wick your burn test passed in your jar; the costed run uses C2, which the coloured 200ml Salsa jar pages say "Pairs well with".

Wick · 1,000 in a single pack
Eco Candle Wicks · Thick (C2)
A flat ₹9.44 per wick from the 20-pack to the 1,000-pack, so the thousand costs nothing extra per wick and saves opening twenty small bags. Add a 50-pack for test jars and knocked wicks. The 10-wick pack is currently sold out; the larger packs are not.

For the jar, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar (Golden Lid) is ₹29.50 each in 50s and 100s against ₹40.12 in the 5-pack. No 1,000-jar pack is listed, so ten 100-packs and one 50-pack give 1,050. Its page states no dimensions — measure one before choosing a wick or a shipping box.

The line that stops a load: wick stickers. The 100-sticker sheet of Candle Wick Stickers is currently sold out, so 1,050 wicks means 27 sheets of 40 at ₹100 — ₹2,700. It is the easiest line to forget because it costs so little, and if stickers run out on load 7, load 7 does not happen that day. Order them with the wax, plus one Candle Care Stickers roll of 1,000 (1.5 inch, ₹699).

Inside each candle: wax ₹93.36, wick ₹9.44, jar ₹29.50, wick sticker ₹2.50 and care sticker ₹0.70 — ₹135.50 before fragrance. With oil the four candles cost ₹215.93 (Sandalwood), ₹208.38 (Cinnamon Vanilla), ₹208 (Woody Oud) and ₹198.27 (Jasmine), a weighted ₹208.44. The ₹8,065.08 gap to the order total is the allowance and spares — money to expect to spend, not a saving to find. Swap the wax and only that line moves: ₹2,33,905.84 on Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, ₹1,95,943.84 on Eco Soy CSI 400. The same bill of materials for everyday production is in raw materials required to make 1,000 candles.

The CSI principle
A thousand candles is twelve melter loads. Plan the loads, and the kilos plan themselves.
Kilos fill the basket. Loads tell you which scent goes in on which morning, how much oil to weigh, and which cartons to pull if a burn-check fails.

Where to buy it, and what goes on WhatsApp

In June you can shop line by line. In September, buy from whoever can put every line on one order this week.

Every extra supplier is another delivery your first load waits for. Check six things: all four heavy lines in bulk packs on one order; published load and temperatures for the wax; listed prices you can order at today; MSDS and IFRA documents if a corporate client asks; a GST invoice; and someone you can ask about dispatch timing before paying. The longer-term checklist is in what to look for in one reliable supplier from startup to scale.

A 1,000-candle order at CSI · listed and not listed
Where the listing covers the order, and where WhatsApp takes over
Line Largest listed pack From listed packs Not listed — ask on WhatsApp
Wax (CSI 464) 10 kg 19 × 10 kg Larger formats; the page mentions a 25 kg format not shown as a variant
Fragrance oil 1 kg 15 × 1 kg + top-ups 5 kg or 10 kg containers
200ml Salsa jars 100 10 × 100 + 50 A 1,000-jar pack
Wick stickers 40 per sheet 27 sheets The 100-sticker sheet (sold out)
Candle-making machines Not listed No automatic filling machines; this run is a melter-and-funnel job

Every quantity in the order can be bought at listed prices today, and those prices are the most you will pay. A consolidated 1,000-candle price is not listed, and we won't guess it — it depends on the lines, whether you will repeat the order, and where it is going.

What to send in one WhatsApp message
Wax: CSI 464, 190 kg. Oils: Sandalwood 5.8 kg, Woody Oud 2.5 kg, Cinnamon Vanilla 4.15 kg, Jasmine 4.15 kg. Wicks: Eco C2, 1,050. Jars: 200ml Salsa clear, 1,050. Stickers: 1,080 wick, 1,000 care. Then your GST number, pincode, the date you need materials in hand, whether you need MSDS or IFRA documents, and whether it is a one-off or a repeat. Send it to +91 7397976926.
The mistake: waiting for the quote before ordering anything. A quote can improve a price; it cannot give back a pour day. If the first four loads' materials — seven 10 kg bags (350 candles use 64.4 kg), the Sandalwood, 400 jars and wicks — are not on your floor by 21 September, the whole plan slides into the buffer. Order those at listed prices now and ask about the rest in the same message.
Buy for the candles you can cure by the 26th, not the candles you hope to sell by the 8th.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies candle-making raw materials; we don't make or sell finished candles, and we don't manufacture the wax or the fragrance oils. The profitable advice for a supplier would be "buy more, buy later". This page tells you to weigh one jar first, cut the scent list and scale the run to the loads you can cure — because a Diwali run that arrives late or under-cured is the last run that maker orders.

Every price, pack size and specification comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing takes precedence. Specifications are quoted only where the page states them, and loads are wax formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Allowances, load sizes, arrival, transit and in-hand dates are labelled assumptions; the scent split is an example.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax do I need to make 1,000 candles?
At 200g per candle and an 8% fragrance load, 184 kg of wax, because each candle is 184g of wax and 16g of oil. With a 3% planning allowance for spills and residue, buy about 190 kg — nineteen 10 kg bags. At 150g it is 138 kg. Weigh one filled jar first: jar capacities are often stated in millilitres, and your real fill weight sets the order.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 1,000 Diwali candles?
16 kg at 8% for 200g candles, or 20 kg at 10%. Add 3% and plan on about 16.5 kg, split by scent in whole melter loads — for example 350 Sandalwood, 250 Cinnamon Vanilla, 250 Jasmine and 150 Woody Oud, which is 5.6, 4, 4 and 2.4 kg before the allowance. At CSI's listed prices that range costs ₹75,809.84 in 1 kg bottles with small top-ups.
How many wicks should I buy for 1,000 candles?
One per single-wick candle, so 1,000, plus about 5% spare for test jars and knocked wicks — 1,050 in total. Eco Candle Wicks are listed as a single 1,000-pack: ₹5,900 for Thin (C1), ₹9,440 for Thick (C2). Double-wick candles need two each. Buy the wick your burn test passed with in your actual jar, and order 27 sheets of wick stickers with them.
Is it too late in September to make 1,000 candles for Diwali 2026?
Not if you order now and already have a tested recipe. Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. Assuming materials arrive within 7 days, you can pour from 21 September; one 90-candle load a day on a 20 kg melter finishes all 1,000 by 3 October, giving every candle 21 days before a 26 October pack-out. The hard stops are 5 October for woody and gourmand scents and 12 October for anything at a 14-day cure.
How much does it cost to make 1,000 candles for Diwali?
For 200g soy candles in 200ml Salsa jars with C2 Eco Wicks and a four-scent range, the CSI materials order is ₹2,16,501.84 at September 2026 listed prices, including a 3% allowance and spares — ₹208.44 of materials inside each candle on average. The wax moves it most: about ₹1.96 lakh on Eco Soy CSI 400, ₹2.34 lakh on Luxury Soy Wax Chunks. A 20 kg melter (₹25,960) is extra.
Can I buy 190 kg of soy wax in one pack for a Diwali order?
No CSI soy wax is listed at that size. The largest listed packs are 10 kg on most waxes and 50 kg on Natural Soy Pearl Wax, so 190 kg of CSI 464 is 19 × 10 kg at ₹96,406. Those listed per-kilo prices are the ceiling. For one consolidated order of wax, oils, wicks and jars, send the full list, GST number and pincode on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 for a quote.
Order the Diwali run this week
