CSI Bulk Orders · 5,000 Candles from a 500-Candle Workshop
Never scale the batch in the middle of an order: repeat it. Ten proven blocks of 500, a QC gate after each, a second line that copies the first, and materials bought in five tranches. Here are the numbers, the calendar and the honest conditions for yes.
10 blocks
of the 500 you have proven, 41 working days on two lines · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I accept 5,000 candles if I have never made more than 500 at once? Yes, but only as 10 repeats of the 500 you have already proven, with a QC gate after each block, not as one giant run. In the worked example (200 g, 8%, a 6-day week) each block is 525 poured over 6 production days.

How long does it take? One line: 65 working days (about day 75). Two identical lines: 41 working days (day 47). Against a client ask of 8 weeks (48 working days), only the two-line plan fits, with 7 days spare.

How much material? 1,000 kg of finished candle: 80 kg of oil and 920 kg of wax at 8%. With extras and buffers you buy 976 kg of Natural Soy Pearl Wax and 85 kg of Jasmine Fragrance Oil, in five tranches of about ₹1,51,634.00 each, not all at once. CSI materials total ₹9,17,134.40 before your jars.

When should I decline? If the candle is not already proven in this jar, if the date is Diwali (8 November 2026, 32 days away), or if the client wants all 5,000 sooner than you can run two proven lines and will not take phased deliveries.
The short answer
The rule: never scale the batch; repeat it. A 5,000 order is 10 blocks of the 500 you have already made, each released only after the previous block passes its gate.
The numbers: 5,250 poured (5,000 + 50 extras + 200 loss buffer), 1,060.5 kg of mix, about 87.5 a day per proven line, 41 working days on two lines.
The exposure cap: at the worst moment about 1,575 poured candles are waiting for a gate result. In one big run with no gates, a drift can reach the whole order before you see it.
Accept if: the formula is proven in this jar, line B is a copy of line A, materials come in tranches confirmed on WhatsApp, and the client pays per phase. Otherwise phase the deliveries, partner, or decline.
5,000 as ten proven blocks of 500 Worked example: 525 poured per block, 6 production days each, 6-day week. 1 9 15 21 27 33 39 48 working day → Set-up Line A Line B sample approved, tranche 1 in, pilot melt tail: set, QC, pack B1 B2 B4 B6 B8 B10 B3 B5 B7 B9 training done: day 41 ◆ = QC gate result, about 3 working days after a block's last pour. Dashed line = day 48. Working days to finish, against 48 available Two proven lines 41 One proven line 65 One big rushed line 48 The rushed line fits 48 days only at 123 a day: 1.4× the rate you have proven. All timings are labelled worked examples. Replace them with your own run.
Top: the worked-example block plan. Line A pours block 1 while the line B crew trains on it; from working day 9 each line pours one 525-candle block every 6 days. Each diamond is a block's QC gate, about three working days after its last pour (72-hour set plus a burn check). Pouring ends on day 38 and the tail on day 41, inside the client's 48 working days. Bottom: working days to finish on one proven line (65), two proven lines (41), and one rushed line that hits 48 days only by running 1.4× faster than anything you have proven.
Straight answer
A client wants 5,000 candles, but I have never produced more than 500 at once. Should I accept the order or scale through smaller production batches?
Accept it only as smaller batches: 10 repeats of the 500-candle run you have already proven, each one a block with its own QC gate. Do not try to make 5,000 the way you made 500, only bigger. Bigger melts, a faster line and new people all at once are three process changes, and the 5,000-candle order is where you would find out what they do. In the worked example (200 g at 8%) a block is 525 poured (500 saleable + 5 extras + 20 buffer) over 6 production days. One line takes 65 working days; a second, identical line cuts that to 41. The client asked for 8 weeks (48 working days), so the honest yes is: two lines, materials in five tranches, payment per phase, and a stop rule at every gate. If you cannot set up line B, offer phased deliveries of 1,000 every 12 working days from about day 19. If the candle is not proven in this jar, offer development first.
One line: 5,000 is not a bigger 500; it is ten 500s in a row, each one checked before the next is released.
Tranche 1, priced: four 50 kg bags of Natural Soy Pearl Wax (₹84,960.00) and 34 × 500 g of Jasmine Fragrance Oil (₹66,674.00) cover blocks 1 and 2: ₹1,51,634.00. Tranche 2 is the same again, for line B. All in stock on 7 October 2026; quantity and lot for the later tranches are confirmed on WhatsApp, not promised here.

Your order in numbers, and why 5,000 is not 500 × 10

Ten times the candles is not ten times the work. It is ten times the chances for something to drift.

Write the order down as numbers before you answer. The title gives two: 5,000 candles and a largest-ever run of 500. Everything else below is a labelled worked example for you to replace: a 200 g fill at 8% (the series default), a 6-day week with day 1 a Monday, and a client who asks for all 5,000 in 8 weeks.

The order restated · 5,000 × 200 g at 8%
Reader's figures (title): 5,000 candles, 500 the largest run · everything else a labelled worked example · counts declared

Largest run so far 500 Reader's figure (title): the size you have proven

Finished mix for 5,000 1,000 kg = 80 kg oil + 920 kg wax 5,000 × 200 g
Your proven pace 525 poured in 6 production days, about 87.5 a day Worked example: replace with your 500-candle run
Client's ask 8 weeks = 56 calendar days = 48 working days Worked example
Blocks needed 10 5,000 ÷ 500
Candles to pour 5,250 5,000 + 50 extras (5 a block) + 200 loss buffer (4%)

At your proven pace, one line pours the order in 60 production days. Add 2 set-up days and a 3-day tail and it is 65 working days, about day 75 on the calendar. To finish in the client's 48 working days on one line, you would have 43 production days and need 123 candles a day: 1.4× the pace you have proven, for seven weeks.

That 1.4× is the trap. It looks like a modest stretch, but you cannot get it by working a little harder. It means bigger melts, more pourers on one line and a faster rhythm, and every one of those changes how a candle is made. Heating and holding a larger melt can change how fragrance is distributed (the 1 kg-to-25 kg scale-up post); a bigger melter is a process change that needs revalidating even with identical materials (the bigger-melter revalidation post). A 500-candle block run exactly as before changes nothing about how each candle is made.

What "proven" means for a block
Same wax, oil, load, wick and jar; same melter size and melt weight; same add and pour temperatures; same stir time; same crew roles; same cure before lidding. If your 500-candle run had a different jar or oil from this order, it does not count as proof for this order. That is development, and the date follows from it (the new-fragrance development post).

The block plan: 500-unit blocks with QC gates

A gate is a stop point you chose in advance, so you never have to decide under pressure whether to stop.

Each block is your 500-candle run, repeated exactly, with 5 planned extras (3 QC retains and 2 burn-check candles) and a 20-candle loss buffer. When a block's last pour has set for 72 hours, its gate is checked. The next block is already pouring; the block after that is not released until the gate is passed. That overlap keeps the line moving while capping how much can go wrong before you know.

The QC gate between blocks · checked about 3 working days after a block's last pour
Thresholds are worked examples tied to this plan's buffers · set your own from your batch records · a failed gate stops release, not the line already pouring
Check Pass condition Why
Yield Rejects in the block ≤ 20 of 525 (the 4% buffer) Above it: stop, find the cause before the next block is released
Burn check 2 candles from the block, burned once their 72 hours are up, side by side with your approved reference candle Melt pool, flame height, soot, jar heat in the final third against the reference
Weight and finish 10 candles weighed against your fill tolerance (yours; ±3 g is a worked example); tops, wick centring, glass adhesion A drift here is usually process, not material
Lots Wax lot, oil lot, jar batch and wick pack recorded on the block sheet A new lot is compared side by side before it enters a melt
Retains 3 candles per block labelled with block, date and lots, kept until well after the client has burned theirs Your evidence if a complaint arrives in month three

Why a gate catches more than a final inspection: a slow drift in wick centring, a new oil lot that throws differently, or a crew getting tired shows up as a change from block to block. One block is 525 candles, about ₹96,299.11 of CSI materials at this order's per-candle figure. At the worst moment in the two-line plan, about three blocks (1,575 poured candles) are waiting on a gate result. In one 5,000-candle run with no stop points, a drift can be in every candle before anyone burns one.

One line or two

A second line means adding capacity without changing the process. Line B is a copy of line A: same melter size, same batch weight, same station layout, a crew trained by shadowing block 1. Each line keeps the pace you have proven; together they pour about 175 a day. Line A pours block 1 alone while line B trains; from working day 9 both lines pour, so blocks 2–10 run in five rounds.

Three ways to run the same 5,250 pours · 6-day week, day 1 = Monday
Set-up 2 days and tail 3 days in every row · paces are worked examples from a 6-day, 525-candle block
Plan Candles a day Production days Working days Calendar day Against 8 weeks
Two proven lines 87.5, then 175 36 41 day 47 Fits, 7 working days spare
One proven line 87.5 60 65 day 75 Too late unless phased
One big rushed line 123 43 48 day 56 Fits only on paper: no spare day, unproven rate

The full station-by-station capacity model, which tells you whether a second crew and melter really double your output or just move the bottleneck to packing, is the maximum-capacity post. Batch counts from your melter are the 5,000-in-30-days batch post.

1
Write the block sheet from your 500 runMelt weight, wax and oil grams per melt, add and pour temperatures, stir time, wick and jar, crew roles, minutes per station. This sheet is the product. If you cannot write it down, you have not proven it.
2
Approve a sample and pay-per-phase termsThe client approves a candle from your proven stock in writing during the 2 set-up days. Agree five deliveries or five invoices, one per two blocks, and an advance that covers tranches 1 and 2.
3
Pour block 1 on line A; train line B on itLine B's crew works every station of block 1 beside line A. Block 1's gate is the first proof that this order's lots and jar batch behave like your old run.
4
Start line B on block 3, with its own gateLine B's first block gets the same gate plus one extra check: two of its candles burned beside two of line A's from the same day. A difference between lines is a process difference. Find it before round 2.
5
Release each round only when the round before last has passedRound 2 (blocks 4 and 5) needs block 1's gate; round 3 needs blocks 2 and 3. A failed gate stops release, not the line already pouring. Investigate, fix, and decide whether the failed block can be sorted, reworked or remade from the loss buffer.
6
Ship by phase, invoice by phaseEvery two passed blocks are a delivery of about 1,000 and an invoice. Cash comes in while the order is still being made, and the client sees real candles early.

What changes at scale even when each block does not

The block stays the same size. The order around it is ten times bigger.

Blocks protect how each candle is made. They do not protect what the order does to the rest of your workshop. Four things change, and each needs a decision before you say yes.

Lots. 976 kg of wax and 85 kg of oil will not come from a single lot unless your supplier tells you so in writing, and CSI does not promise it. Line the lots up with blocks: one wax lot and one oil lot per block where you can, a lot change only at a block boundary, and a side-by-side comparison (cold sniff, colour in wax, a short burn) before a new lot enters a melt. Ask us on WhatsApp for the lot number on each dispatch. Wax lots across one order are the multi-lot QC post; a new oil lot mid-run is the new-lot check post; and when a material goes missing mid-order, the 5,000-candle substitution post sets out the choice between substituting, part-shipping and waiting.

Curing space. Each line pours about 87.5 a day and each candle sits about four days (72 hours set plus a day in the packing queue), so one line needs about 350 rack positions and two lines 700. If your racks held one 500-candle run, line B needs its own racks before it starts. Cure is calendar time and cannot be bought back; how cure age should be standardised across pour days is the cure-standardisation post.

Storage. Shipped all at once, 5,000 candles in 11 × 11 × 8 cm boxes are about 4.84 m³ before outer cartons; phased, the peak is about 1.02 m³. Add the raw materials: tranches keep wax on hand to about 200 kg at a time instead of 976 kg.

People. 41 working days of six-day weeks is seven weeks. Overtime on top of that is where rejects rise and safety slips. Plan it without overtime, rotate tasks, and treat the reject count at each gate as your fatigue gauge. Losses that only appear at volume (heels, top-ups, spills, rejects that are scrapped rather than remelted) are the hidden-losses-at-scale post.

Mistake: buying a 20 kg melter "because the order is ten times bigger" and running double melts from day 1. Why it fails: a 20 kg melt is not a proven 10 kg melt. Heat-up, hold time and how fragrance is mixed through a larger volume all change, and the first time you find out is inside the order. Fix: scale by copying the line, not by enlarging the batch. If you want the bigger melter for the future, buy it after this order and validate it on your own stock, not the client's.

The purchase sheet, bought in five tranches

Required, plus planned extras, plus losses, rounded up to real packs, then split so cash follows the blocks.

The sheet assumes your proven formula is Natural Soy Pearl Wax, Jasmine at 8% and an Eco C2 wick in your own 200 g jar. Planned extras (5 a block) and the loss buffer (4%) are separate lines; pieces carry their own 2% buffer; the 1% heel allowance is wax left in melters and pitchers, so it does not double-count rejects. How much each buffer should be is the production-buffer post.

CSI materials for the order (wax and oil are 81.6%) ₹9,17,134.40 ₹183.43 per saleable candle

₹183.43 per saleable candle is CSI materials with buffers: ₹82.93 of wax and ₹66.67 of oil among them. It excludes your jars, labour, freight, GST and marketing. Whether your price still covers true cost once test candles, rejects and heels are counted is the true manufacturing cost post. On jars: 5,355 pieces will rarely come from one production batch, and glass varies between batches, so measure a sample from each batch (internal diameter, height, fill line) as it arrives; the extra-wax side of a 1,000-jar run is the extra-wax-for-1,000-jars post.

Five tranches · one per two blocks · wax and oil only
Two blocks need 195.13 kg of wax and 16.968 kg of oil · Pearl and Jasmine 500 g are flat per kilo, so splitting costs nothing per kilo · lot continuity between tranches is not promised
Tranche Covers Wax Oil ₹ Order it
1 Blocks 1–2 4 × 50 kg 34 × 500 g ₹1,51,634.00 With tranche 2, after written approval and advance
2 Blocks 3–4 4 × 50 kg 34 × 500 g ₹1,51,634.00 With tranche 1 (line B starts on day 9)
3 Blocks 5–6 4 × 50 kg 34 × 500 g ₹1,51,634.00 After block 1 passes (about day 11); on your floor by day 14
4 Blocks 7–8 4 × 50 kg 34 × 500 g ₹1,51,634.00 After blocks 2–3 pass (about day 17); on your floor by day 20
5 Blocks 9–10 3 × 50 kg + 2 × 10 kg + 5 kg + 1 kg 34 × 500 g ₹1,41,464.00 After blocks 4–5 pass (about day 23); on your floor by day 26
Wax and oil, all five ₹7,48,000.00 same as one purchase

The tranches cost exactly what one purchase costs, because both products are flat per kilo at these packs, and they cap what you have bought ahead of the gates at two tranches, ₹3,03,268.00, against ₹7,48,000.00 on day 2. Argued against our own interest: we would sell more by asking you to buy 976 kg up front. Don't. If the client cuts the order after block 4, you want to be holding one spare tranche, not three. Wicks, boxes and stickers are flat per piece too; buying them per tranche costs a few spare pieces (on wicks, ₹377.60 for 40 more), which is cheap insurance. The plan leaves about three working days between a gate and the day a tranche must be on your floor. Lead times are not published: ask on WhatsApp before you fix those dates, and if dispatch plus transit is longer, order one tranche further ahead. Split purchasing in general is the split-purchasing post.

Mistake: buying the 1 kg Jasmine "because bigger is cheaper". Why it matters: on this oil it is not. The 1 kg is ₹3,923.00 and two 500 g are ₹3,922.00; 85 × 1 kg would be ₹3,33,455.00, ₹85.00 more than 170 × 500 g. Fix: check per gram on every oil before a bulk buy. On Pearl the opposite holds: 976 kg in 1 kg bags would be ₹4,39,200.00, ₹24,570.00 more than the 5 kg-and-up bags.

Accept, phase, partner or decline

The settling number is not 5,000. It is the working days two proven lines need against the working days you have.

The decision rule for this worked example: accept with conditions if two proven lines finish inside the client's date with at least a few working days spare (41 against 48, 7 spare); phase if only one line is possible; partner or decline if neither fits. The conditions are the ones that make the block plan real.

The answer by situation · same 5,000 × 200 g order
Practical business judgement, not legal or financial advice · calendar days on a 6-day week from day 1
Your situation Answer What you send the client
Formula proven; line B possible; 8 weeks Accept with conditions "5,000 by day 47, in five deliveries, subject to sample approval, advance and materials confirmed"
Formula proven; one line only Phase "1,000 by about day 19, then 1,000 every 12 working days; all 5,000 by about day 75"
Formula proven; client needs one delivery sooner than day 47 Partner or decline A smaller quantity on the date, or a partner line (below)
New jar, oil, colour or wick Development first A date after development and approval; or your proven candle on the date
Due for Diwali, 8 November 2026 Decline the 5,000 32 calendar days is less than the 47 the two-line plan needs: offer what one or two lines can finish

Partnering means another maker runs blocks for you. It can work, but only on your terms: your block sheet, your materials from your tranches, a sample block that passes your gate before they pour for the order, and their candles burned beside yours at every gate. A partner using their own wax or oil is a different candle with your label on it. If you cannot check their blocks as closely as your own, decline the extra volume instead.

Protect the money. A written order should fix the quantity, fill, scent, label, approved sample, delivery phases, an advance covering at least tranches 1 and 2 and anything client-specific, and what happens if the client changes or cancels after a tranche is bought. Payment per phase matches the cash you lay out per tranche. Sizing the advance is the advance post. This is practical judgement, not legal advice.

Mistake: quoting the one-line date and hoping to "find a second crew later". Why it fails: line B needs a melter, racks and a trained crew before it adds a single candle, and its first block needs its own gate. Found in week three, it arrives too late to help. Fix: quote the date of the plan you can run on day 1. If line B depends on hiring, quote the one-line date and offer an earlier one if hiring works out. A promise needs a margin; how big is the spare-capacity post.
What you cannot skip, and the calendar time it needs
A client-approved sample from proven stock: within the 2 set-up days. Block 1's gate (72-hour set plus a burn check): about 3 working days after its last pour. Line B's first-block comparison: the same 3 days. A lot comparison whenever a new wax or oil lot arrives: a side-by-side melt the day it arrives, and a short burn once the test candle has set. None of these can move to the last week.
This page is for you if you have made a few hundred of this exact candle and the client wants ten times that. It is not enough if the client wants a new scent, jar or colour: that is development first (the new-combination post). Ask the client first whether 5,000 is firm, whether deliveries can be phased, and what the hard date is: those three answers decide which row of the table above you are in.

What to buy for a 5,000 order, and what to skip

Five items, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 7 October 2026. CSI publishes no burn or throw data, so nothing here is ranked on performance. Each card says when not to buy.

wax · the largest pack CSI lists · only if it is already your wax
Natural Soy Pearl Wax
The wax the worked example assumes your 500-candle run was made in. It is the only CSI wax sold in 50 kg bags, and it costs ₹424.80 a kilo from the 5 kg bag up, so four 50 kg bags a tranche cost no more per kilo than one big delivery. In the text we captured, the page calls it "Suitable for a variety of container types" and describes a "pearlescent shimmer"; it states no fragrance-load ceiling and no temperatures, so the oil page's maximum governs and your proven process sets the temperatures. Argued against our own interest: if your 500 were made in a different wax, do not switch to Pearl for a 5,000 order to save money. A new wax is a new candle, and a 5,000-candle order is the worst place to discover it.

Jasmine Fragrance Oil
The page describes it as "sweet, floral, and slightly musky with a timeless luxurious aroma", states "Recommended load up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin" and a cure of 48–72 hours for soy, and claims "0% vanillin - no discolouration" (vanillin is one cause of discolouration, not the only one, so judge colour in your retains). Every size is in stock on 7 October 2026. Argued against our own interest: buy this order in 500 g bottles, not 1 kg. The 1 kg costs ₹3,923.00, which is ₹1.00 more than two 500 g bottles at ₹1,961.00; across 85 kg that is ₹85.00. Small, but it is the honest pack. Limitation: 85 kg of one oil is 170 bottles, and CSI does not promise they share a lot.
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 8% (16 g) Oil per candle
15 g ₹103.00 ₹6.87 none (a sniff sample) ₹109.87
50 g ₹230.00 ₹4.60 3 ₹73.60
100 g ₹430.00 ₹4.30 6 ₹68.80

1 kg ₹3,923.00 ₹3.92 62 ₹62.77
34 × 500 g a tranche = ₹66,674.00; 170 bottles in all = ₹3,33,370.00. Buy 500 g — ₹1,961.00

WAX MELTER FOR CANDLE MAKING | Electric Wax Melter (Imported)
For the two-line plan you need melt capacity for about 175 candles a day. The page says the unit can "melt 9.5 liters of candle wax and create 80 candles at a time" and "can melt 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C"; read both as the page's claims. At 200 g, 10 kg of finished mix fills 50 candles before losses, and melt to your wax's working temperature, checked with a thermometer, not to 100°C (the display claims "±10°C deviation"). Argued against our own interest: if your 500-candle run used a 10 kg unit, buy a second 10 kgs for line B rather than the 20 kgs. Line B then melts exactly the batch size you have proven; a 20 kg melt is a process change that needs its own validation.
Size Price Candles per full melt For this order
10 kgs capacity ₹21,240.00 50 at 200 g before losses (page says 80) A second identical line: same melt size you proved
20 kgs capacity ₹25,960.00 100 at 200 g before losses ₹4,720.00 more, and a new batch size to revalidate
Line B kit (melter, 2 pitchers, thermometer, scale) = ₹23,364.00. Buy 10 kgs — ₹21,240.00

Eco Candle Wicks — Thick (C2)
In the worked example C2 is the wick your 500-candle run was burn-tested with; C2 is never an answer by default, because the page states no length or jar range in the text we captured. Every C2 pack costs ₹9.44 a wick, so 5,355 wicks are cheapest as 5 × 1,000 + 3 × 100 + 50 + 10 = 5,360 (₹50,598.40). Buying 1,080 a tranche instead costs ₹377.60 more for 40 extra wicks: the price of keeping cash free. The Thin (C1) 10-pack is out of stock on 7 October 2026; other C1 packs are in stock.
Pack Price Per wick For this order

Corrugated Box for Candle Packaging (11 x 11 x 8 cm)
5,000 candles in one delivery is about 4.84 m³ of boxes before outer cartons; one phase of 1,050 is about 1.02 m³. The page says "Size: 11 x 11 x 8 cm" without saying inside or outside, so check it against your jar and lid before you order 5,100. The box costs ₹22.42 in 50s or 100s alike, so phase it with the deliveries. Limitation: it is a plain kraft shipper, not a printed gift box.
Pack Price Per box Note
Pack of 50 ₹1,121.00 ₹22.42 same per box
Pack of 100 ₹2,242.00 ₹22.42 51 packs = ₹1,14,342.00

Skip for this order: the 20 kgs melter as a mid-order upgrade, any wax other than the one your 500 were proven in, the 1 kg Jasmine (the 500 g is cheaper here), and all five tranches on day 2. Argued against our own interest: buy nothing beyond tranches 1 and 2 until block 1 has passed its gate. That costs us nothing in the end if the order runs, and saves you a great deal if it doesn't.

Diwali is 8 November 2026, 32 days from 7 October 2026. A 5,000-candle order is not a Diwali order for a workshop that has made 500 at most: even two proven lines need 47 calendar days. If your client wants some candles for Diwali and the rest for year-end gifting, phase it. Send the tranche list on WhatsApp first and we will confirm what we can supply, from which lot and when it ships, with a GST invoice.

The CSI principle
Scale the number of times you run the process, never the process itself, in the middle of an order.
For 5,000 candles from a 500-candle workshop that means 10 blocks, a gate after each, a second line that copies the first, and materials that arrive in five tranches. Bigger melts and faster lines belong in development, on your own stock.
"Ten good blocks make a good order. One big run makes one big bet."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wax, oil, melter, wicks and boxes named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you to buy in five tranches instead of all at once, to buy our 500 g Jasmine rather than the 1 kg, to buy a second 10 kg melter rather than our dearer 20 kg unit, and to turn down a 5,000-candle Diwali order.

Every CSI price was checked on the live store on 7 October 2026, and stock was checked per size: every item priced on this page is in stock on that date. The Eco C1 10-pack and the small Steel Pouring Pitcher are out of stock and are not used. Stock depth for 976 kg, 85 kg or 5,360 wicks is not something a product page shows, and lot continuity between tranches is not promised. Page wording is quoted as written, including the melter's "80 candles" and "100°C", with our arithmetic beside it.

The fill, load, working week, block pace, set-up and tail days, buffers, gate thresholds, rack and storage figures and the client's 8-week ask are labelled worked examples for you to replace with your own; the block-and-gate method is practical business judgement, not legal or financial advice. For bulk pricing, stock and lot confirmation, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Should a small candle business accept a 5,000 candle order?
Only if the candle is already proven in that exact jar and you can run the order as repeats of a batch size you have already made, with a quality check between batches. For a maker whose largest run is 500, that is ten 500-candle blocks. In the worked example two identical lines finish in 41 working days; one line takes 65.
Is it better to make candles in small batches or one big batch?
For a big order, repeat the batch size you have proven rather than enlarging it. A bigger melt changes heat-up, hold time and how fragrance mixes through the wax, so it is a process change that needs testing. Repeating a proven batch with a check between batches caps how many candles a problem can reach before you see it.
How much wax do I need for 5,000 candles?
At 200 g and 8% fragrance on total weight: 1,000 kg of finished candle, 920 kg of wax and 80 kg of oil. With extras, a 4% reject buffer and a 1% heel allowance, about 976 kg of wax and 85 kg of oil. At CSI that is ₹4,14,630.00 of Natural Soy Pearl Wax and ₹3,33,370.00 of Jasmine in 500 g bottles.
How long does it take to make 5,000 candles?
It depends on your proven pace. In the worked example one line pours about 87.5 a day: 60 production days, 65 working days with set-up and tail. Two identical lines take 41 working days. Count production days, not calendar days, and keep the 72-hour set before lidding.
Should I buy all the raw materials for a bulk candle order at once?
Not when the price per kilo doesn't fall. Natural Soy Pearl Wax costs ₹424.80 a kilo from the 5 kg bag to the 50 kg, and Jasmine 500 g bottles cost the same per kilo however many you buy, so five tranches cost the same as one purchase and hold less cash in stock. Ask your supplier about lots for each tranche.
Can I subcontract part of a large candle order to another candle maker?
It can work if they use your exact formula, your materials and your batch sheet, pass a sample batch against your quality check first, and have their candles burned beside yours at every check. If they use their own wax or oil, it is a different candle under your label. This is practical judgement, not legal advice.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: part of CSI's cluster "Can I actually accept this order?" (6301–6320) in the series on bulk corporate and wedding candle orders × raw materials. It covers the scale-risk decision for a 5,000-candle order from a workshop whose largest run is 500: repeated proven blocks with QC gates, one line versus two, what changes at scale, a purchase sheet bought in five tranches, and when to phase, partner or decline.

Non-price figures: 5,000 candles and a largest run of 500 are the reader's figures (title). The 200 g fill and 8% load are the series default; load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax). The 6-day week, day 1 as a Monday, the client's 8-week ask, the 6-day block pace, 2 set-up days, 3 tail days, the 72-hour set, 5 extras per block, 4% rejects, 2% piece buffer, 1% heel allowance, gate thresholds (including the ±3 g fill tolerance), rack and storage figures are labelled worked examples. Natural Soy Pearl Wax states no load ceiling in the captured text; Jasmine's page states up to 10% in soy. Melter wording ("80 candles", "30 minutes at 100°C", "±10°C deviation") is the product page's. Box volume uses the page's 11 x 11 x 8 cm, basis not stated. Costs are materials only and exclude your jars, labour, freight, GST and marketing. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact.
