Commercial Fragrance · Load in Coconut Soy
Most answers to this question quote a single percentage. For CSI's coconut waxes, no fragrance ceiling is published in the data we work from, so we will not quote one. What we can give you is a three-rung test ladder, the arithmetic for each rung, what each step costs, and the rule for choosing: the lowest load that passes your own burn test, under a maximum you have confirmed.
₹21.47
what each two-point load step adds to a 200 g CSI 468 candle with Palo Santo at 1 kg rates · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best fragrance load for coconut soy wax? The lowest load that passes your own burn test, under the wax maker's stated maximum. No maximum is published in our data for CSI 468, Premium Coconut Soy Wax or Coconut Wax — check the product page or ask on WhatsApp. Test 6%, 8% and 10% as a labelled ladder, not a spec.

What is the maximum fragrance load for coconut soy wax? We do not quote one because it is not in our data. Ask CSI on WhatsApp for the wax maker's figure for the specific wax. The 13% often quoted applies to Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, and 10% to CSI 464 — both soy waxes, not coconut.

How much oil is 8% in a 200 g candle? 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. At 6%, 12 g and 188 g; at 10%, 20 g and 180 g. Load is a share of the finished weight, not of the wax. See the ladder.

What does going from 8% to 10% cost? Four more grams of oil and four fewer of wax. With Palo Santo at 1 kg rates that is +₹21.47 per 200 g candle; with Peach Melon Berry +₹14.11; with Gilli Mitti +₹33.24.
The short answer
Ceiling: Not published in our data for any coconut wax. Confirm the wax maker's stated maximum on the product page or WhatsApp before testing above 8%. Never exceed 13% in any wax.
Test ladder: 6% · 8% · 10% of total weight. 200 g candle: 12 / 16 / 20 g oil. 50 g test pot: 3 / 4 / 5 g oil — 12 g per oil, from one 15 g tester.
Cost per step: Per 200 g CSI 468 candle, each +2%: Peach Melon Berry +₹14.11 · Palo Santo +₹21.47 · Gilli Mitti +₹33.24.
Shop: CSI 468 coconut soy wax · Fragrance Oils · Weighing scale · confirm the maximum on WhatsApp.
The coconut-soy load ladder — three labelled test rungs, and a ceiling you must confirm Wax maker's stated maximum — not published in our data. Ask before you test above 8%. 6% · 12 g oil 8% · 16 g oil 10% · 20 g oil ₹271.12 ₹292.59 ₹314.06 200 g candle in CSI 468 with Palo Santo at 1 kg rates · each two-point step adds ₹21.47 Choose the lowest rung that passes your burn test. 13% is the absolute limit anywhere; the coconut-wax figure may be lower.
The dashed line is the ceiling, and it is deliberately unlabelled with a number: none is published in our data for any coconut wax. The three rungs are a labelled test range drawn from general candle-making practice, not a specification. If the figure you are given is below 10%, drop the top rung; if it is below 8%, rebuild the ladder beneath it.
Straight answer
What is the best fragrance load for fragrance oils in coconut soy wax?
There is no single best number, and for CSI's coconut waxes we will not invent one. No fragrance ceiling is published in our data for CSI 468, Premium Coconut Soy Wax or Coconut Wax. Before you test above 8%, check the wax's product page or ask CSI on WhatsApp for the wax maker's stated maximum. Then run a labelled test ladder at 6%, 8% and 10% of the finished weight — 12 g, 16 g and 20 g of oil in a 200 g candle, or 3 g, 4 g and 5 g in a 50 g test pot — dropping any rung above the figure you are given. Cure, burn side by side, and choose the lowest rung that passes. Each two-point step adds 4 g of oil and removes 4 g of wax, so it costs ₹14.11 per candle with Peach Melon Berry, ₹21.47 with Palo Santo and ₹33.24 with Gilli Mitti at 1 kg rates. The soy figures you may have seen — 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, 10% for CSI 464 — belong to those soy waxes and do not transfer.
One line: confirm the coconut wax's stated maximum, test 6/8/10% beneath it, and pour at the lowest rung that passes.
A three-rung ladder for three oils needs one 15 g tester each — Peach Melon Berry ₹81.42, Palo Santo ₹106.20, Gilli Mitti ₹140.00 — and 414 g of CSI 468. That is ₹652.62 with a 500 g bag of wax.

Why we will not quote a maximum

A load figure without a source is a guess with a percent sign. For coconut soy, ask for the source first.

Fragrance-load ceilings are set by the wax maker. They are formulation limits — how much oil the wax is designed to hold — not regulatory limits. In the data we publish from, only two waxes carry one: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Neither is a coconut wax. For CSI 468, Premium Coconut Soy Wax and Coconut Wax, no ceiling is published in our data, and they may not share one.

So the first step in finding your load is not a test. It is a message: ask CSI on WhatsApp for the wax maker's stated maximum for the exact wax you are using, and keep the reply with your formula. If the product page shows a figure, use that. Only then build the ladder beneath it. Separately, individual oils can carry their own usage limits in their IFRA certificates; we do not quote those here, so ask for the certificate for each oil you shortlist.

Two limits, two documents
The wax's maximum load comes from the wax maker. An oil's IFRA usage limits come from the oil's IFRA certificate. Your load must respect both. Ask for both on WhatsApp when you order, and file them with the formula sheet for each scent.
Borrowing the soy number. A maker reads that soy wax takes up to 13%, pours coconut-soy at 12%, and finds oil on the surface a week later. The 13% belonged to one specific soy wax. In general practice, oil beyond what a wax can hold may sweat to the top or burn poorly, and more oil does not buy more scent. Confirm the figure for your coconut wax before you go near the top of any range.

The three-rung test ladder

The ladder is 6%, 8% and 10% of the finished candle weight. That range is a common starting point in general candle-making practice for container waxes, used here as a labelled test range, not a specification. It assumes the wax maker's maximum is at least 10%; if it is lower, drop the rungs above it.

Load = oil ÷ finished weight · 200 g candle and 50 g test pot
Oil and wax at each rung
Rung Oil in 200 g Wax in 200 g Oil in 50 g pot Wax in 50 g pot Same thing as % of wax
6% 12 g 188 g 3 g 47 g 6.38%
8% 16 g 184 g 4 g 46 g 8.70%
10% 20 g 180 g 5 g 45 g 11.11%

The last column matters because makers mix up two conventions. This page, and the whole cluster, uses percentage of the finished weight: at 8%, oil is 16 g of a 200 g candle. Some makers instead add oil as a percentage of the wax: 8% of 184 g is 14.72 g, which gives a finished load of 7.41%. Neither is wrong, but mixing them changes every batch. When you ask CSI for the wax's maximum, ask which convention the figure uses.

The 50 g pot is the efficient way to test. Three pots — 3 g, 4 g and 5 g of oil — use 12 g of oil and 138 g of wax, so a single 15 g tester runs a whole ladder with 3 g spare. That is why the 15 g is the right size to test in, and why you do not need a full 200 g candle at every rung until you have narrowed the choice.

What each step costs

Load is a performance decision first. But every step up the ladder has a price, and it is easy to work out before you pour.

Here are three oils at three price points, each priced at every rung in a 200 g candle made with CSI 468 at ₹650.00 a kilo, an Eco Thin C1 wick and a White Matte Glass Jar. Each cell shows the oil cost and the total material cost. Moving up a rung adds 4 g of oil and removes 4 g of wax, so the step cost is 4 × (oil price per gram − ₹0.65).

200 g candle · CSI 468 · oil at 1 kg rate · Eco Thin C1 · White Matte jar · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Oil cost · material cost at each rung
Oil (per g at 1 kg) 6% 8% 10% Step 6→8 / 8→10
Peach Melon Berry (₹4.18/g) ₹50.13 · ₹249.03 ₹66.84 · ₹263.14 ₹83.54 · ₹277.24 +₹14.11 / +₹14.11
Palo Santo (₹6.02/g) ₹72.22 · ₹271.12 ₹96.29 · ₹292.59 ₹120.36 · ₹314.06 +₹21.47 / +₹21.47
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) (₹8.96/g) ₹107.52 · ₹306.42 ₹143.36 · ₹339.66 ₹179.20 · ₹372.90 +₹33.24 / +₹33.24

With a value oil like Peach Melon Berry, the whole ladder spans ₹28.22 per candle. With Gilli Mitti it spans ₹66.48. So the dearer the oil, the more a higher load costs — and the more it pays to find the lowest rung that works. Material cost excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. If you pour in Premium Coconut Soy Wax or Coconut Wax, the step is slightly smaller, because each gram of oil replaces a dearer gram of wax: with Palo Santo, ₹20.39 and ₹19.97 per step respectively.

Running the ladder

1
Get the ceiling in writingAsk CSI on WhatsApp for the wax maker's stated maximum for your coconut wax, and which convention (% of total or % of wax) it uses. Drop any rung above it. Never go above 13% in any wax.
2
Weigh, do not measureWeigh the melted wax, then the oil, to 0.1 g on a weighing scale. For a 50 g pot: 47 g wax + 3 g oil, 46 g + 4 g, 45 g + 5 g.
3
Keep everything else identicalSame wax batch, pour temperature, vessel, wick and cure days for every rung. Label each pot with oil, load and date.
4
Cure, then burn side by sideBurn all three rungs of one oil in the same room at the same time. Score cold throw, hot throw at one hour and across the room at two hours.
5
Check the surface and the poolLook for oil on the surface, wet spots or frosting at each rung. A rung that spoils the creamy top coconut-soy is bought for fails, however strong it smells.
6
Choose the lowest rung that passesIf 6% and 8% smell alike in the room, choose 6%. If 10% is clearly stronger and the surface holds, and the wax's maximum allows it, choose 10%. Then prove the choice in a full 200 g jar with your real wick.
Ladder test cost per oil · CSI 468 at its 1 kg rate · wicks extra (Eco Thin C1 ₹5.90 each)
What one ladder costs to run
Oil Tester Oil used Left over CSI 468 for 3 pots Ladder cost
Peach Melon Berry 15 g ₹81.42 12 g 3 g spare ₹89.70 ₹171.12
Palo Santo 15 g ₹106.20 12 g 3 g spare ₹89.70 ₹195.90
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) 15 g ₹140.00 12 g 3 g spare ₹89.70 ₹229.70

If none of the rungs is strong enough, do not add a fourth rung above 10% by default. Check the wick first — an under-sized wick that never reaches the glass edge weakens every rung — then the cure time, then the room. Which Fragrance Oils Give Strong Hot Throw in Coconut Soy Wax? runs load and wick together in a single matrix for exactly this case, and Strong Fragrance Oils for Coconut Soy Candles covers the other levers of strength.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A higher load sells more oil. If your ladder shows 6% and 8% smell the same in the room, pour at 6%: with Gilli Mitti that is ₹33.24 saved on every candle, and at 100 candles ₹3,324.00. The right load is the lowest one your customer cannot tell from the next rung up.

From ladder to production

Once you have chosen a rung, the load becomes a purchasing number. Here is the oil needed for 100 candles of 200 g at each rung, before any allowance for pour loss and test burns (plan 3–5% extra, a working assumption):

100 × 200 g candles · oil at 1 kg rate · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Oil for 100 candles at each rung
Oil 6% 8% 10%
Peach Melon Berry 1.2 kg · ₹5,012.64 1.6 kg · ₹6,683.52 2.0 kg · ₹8,354.40
Palo Santo 1.2 kg · ₹7,221.60 1.6 kg · ₹9,628.80 2.0 kg · ₹12,036.00
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) 1.2 kg · ₹10,752.00 1.6 kg · ₹14,336.00 2.0 kg · ₹17,920.00

Every rung is 400 g of oil per hundred candles. For a production run in 10 kg bags, the oil per bag is 10,000 ÷ (1 − load) − 10,000 — 638.3 g at 6%, 869.6 g at 8%, 1,111.1 g at 10% — and Bulk Fragrance Oils for Coconut Soy Candle Manufacturing works that through to a 1,000-candle order. For the kilo decision once your load is fixed, see Buy 1 Kg Fragrance Oil for Coconut Soy Candle Making.

The CSI principle
Confirm the ceiling, climb the ladder, stop at the first rung that works.
The best load for coconut soy is not a number someone quotes; it is the lowest rung of your own ladder that passes the burn test, beneath a maximum the wax maker has stated. Everything above that rung is cost without benefit.
Diwali falls on 8 November 2026. A ladder needs a pour, a cure and a burn before you can choose, so start now if your festive coconut-soy candles need a fixed load by mid-October. Ask us for the wax's stated maximum and a quote for your chosen oils at production size, with GST invoicing and IFRA documentation.
Ask for the ceiling and a quote

For the soy-wax version of this question, where ceilings are published, see Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles at 6–8% Fragrance Load. For the coconut-soy shortlist itself, Best Fragrance Oils for Coconut Soy Candles; and for the luxury tier, where the cost of each step is highest, Luxury Fragrance Oils for Coconut Soy Wax Candles. Buying the testers for a ladder is covered in Buy Fragrance Oils for Coconut Soy Wax in India, and a luxury coconut-soy line tested for throw in I'm Making Coconut Soy Luxury Candles — Which Fragrance Oils Should I Test for Strong Hot Throw?.

Ask for the ceiling. Test beneath it. Pour at the lowest rung your customer cannot tell from the next.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. It would be easy to print a confident maximum for coconut soy and sell oil to fill it. The data we publish from does not contain one for any of our coconut waxes, so this page says so, gives you a labelled test ladder, and tells you to pour at the lowest rung that works.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick, jar and scale prices were verified on 10 September 2026. Rung weights, step costs and scale-up figures are plain arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals. The only fragrance ceilings quoted — up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and up to 10% for CSI 464 — are those soy waxes' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits.

The 6%/8%/10% ladder is a labelled test range from general candle-making practice, not a specification for any coconut wax. The 50 g pot and 200 g candle are working sizes. For the wax maker's stated maximum, the convention it uses, IFRA certificates or MSDS, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil should I use in coconut soy wax?
Test at 6%, 8% and 10% of the finished candle weight — 12, 16 and 20 g in a 200 g candle — and pour at the lowest rung that passes your burn test. Confirm the wax maker's stated maximum first; no ceiling is published in our data for any coconut wax.
What is the maximum fragrance load for coconut soy wax?
It depends on the specific wax, and no figure is published in our data for CSI 468, Premium Coconut Soy Wax or Coconut Wax. Ask CSI on WhatsApp or check the product page for the wax maker's figure. Never exceed 13% in any wax.
Can I use 12% fragrance oil in coconut soy wax?
Not unless the wax maker's stated maximum for that wax allows it, and we have no such figure in our data. Ask first. In general practice, oil beyond a wax's capacity may sweat or burn poorly, and more oil does not guarantee more scent.
Is fragrance load a percentage of wax or total weight?
This cluster uses percentage of the finished weight: 8% of a 200 g candle is 16 g of oil. Some makers use percentage of wax: 8% of 184 g is 14.72 g, a 7.41% finished load. Ask which convention a stated maximum uses.
Does a higher fragrance load mean stronger hot throw?
Not reliably. Throw also depends on the wick and melt pool, the cure time, the room and the oil itself. Test rungs side by side; if 8% and 10% smell alike, the extra oil is cost without benefit. Which Fragrance Oils Give Strong Hot Throw in Coconut Soy Wax? tests load and wick together.
How much fragrance oil for 1 kg of coconut soy wax?
At 8% of finished weight, 87.0 g; at 6%, 63.8 g; at 10%, 111.1 g. Those are test rungs, under a maximum you have confirmed for your wax.
Confirm, climb, stop

Non-price figures and assumptions: Load is oil as a percentage of the finished candle weight (oil = W × L). Rung costs assume a 200 g candle, CSI 468 at its 1 kg rate, oil at its 1 kg rate, one Eco Thin C1 wick and one White Matte Glass Jar; they exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. The 6%/8%/10% ladder is a labelled test range from general candle-making practice — no fragrance ceiling is published in our data for any coconut wax. Sweating or poor burning above a wax's capacity is described as general practice, not a CSI measurement. The 3–5% wastage allowance is a working assumption. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
