Luxury Candles · Brands
A high-end brand is judged on its fifth reorder, not its first candle. That means premium oils you can buy again at production size, arranged so that most of your volume sits on reliable core scents and a few prestige scents carry the price. This page builds that range from CSI's in-stock 1 kg prices and costs one quarter of it.
₹314.37
average material cost per candle across a six-scent, 255-candle quarterly range (200 g, 8%, signature build) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What fragrance oils do high-end candle brands use? Premium formulas they can reorder. On CSI's list that means the 32 oils in stock at 1 kg at ₹6.50 a gram or more, arranged in three tiers: core (9), signature (15) and prestige (8). See range architecture.

How many scents should a luxury candle brand launch with? Our worked plan uses six: three core, two signature, one prestige. Fewer scents means deeper stock of each and fewer half-used bottles. Add scents when reorders justify them, not to fill a shelf.

What does a premium candle cost to make? In our six-scent plan, from ₹275.71 (Saffron Cedarwood bought as two 500 g) to ₹433.98 (Khamrah Qahwa) per 200 g candle, averaging ₹314.37. Materials only.

Can I get an exclusive fragrance from CSI? The catalogue oils are sold to everyone, so no listed oil is exclusive to your brand. Nothing on custom blending is published here. Ask on WhatsApp what is possible. Many brands create a signature by how they combine a scent with vessel, name and colour.
The short answer
Three tiers: Core ₹6.66–₹7.65/g (9 oils) · Signature ₹7.99–₹9.12/g (15) · Prestige over ₹9.15/g (8), all at the in-stock 1 kg price. Oil per 200 g candle at 8%: ₹106.48 to ₹384.90.
Supply first: A brand scent needs a production size in stock and a reorder path. Check 1 kg and 500 g status before a scent enters the range. Nine premium oils are missing their 1 kg today.
Quarter plan: 6 scents, 255 candles, 4.08 kg of oil for ₹32,232.40. Full materials ₹86,281.40 with 50 kg of wax, wicks and jars.
Shop: Fragrance Oils · Fine Perfume Fragrances · Candle Wax · range planning on WhatsApp.
A high-end range in three tiers — fragrance cost inside one 200 g candle at 8% Prestige · 8 oils ₹172.80–₹384.90 of oil per candle Signature · 15 oils ₹127.98–₹145.92 of oil per candle Core · 9 oils ₹106.48–₹122.34 of oil per candle Few scents at the top, most volume at the base. Core oils carry the brand's repeat orders; prestige oils carry its price.
Tiers are drawn from in-stock 1 kg prices on 24 September 2026. The ranges are the fragrance cost of 16 g of oil in a 200 g candle at the 1 kg rate. The base is widest because it should carry most of your volume: core oils cost ₹106.48 to ₹122.34 per candle, while the prestige tier runs to ₹384.90, which is more than a whole core candle's material cost.
Straight answer
Which premium fragrance oils should a high-end candle brand use, and how should the range be structured?
A high-end brand needs two things from its oils: a scent worth the price, and the ability to buy exactly that scent again at production size. On CSI's catalogue, 32 oils are in stock at 1 kg at ₹6.50 a gram or more. Arrange them in three tiers. Core (9 oils, ₹6.66–₹7.65 a gram, such as Raat Ki Rani, Saffron Cedarwood and Vanilla Bean) carries your repeat volume at ₹106.48–₹122.34 of oil per candle. Signature (15 oils, ₹7.99–₹9.12, such as Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) and Coffee Vanilla Tobacco) defines the brand. Prestige (8 oils above ₹9.15, such as Khamrah Qahwa) is for limited editions, where fragrance can cost ₹384.90 a candle. Our six-scent quarterly plan of 255 candles averages ₹314.37 in materials per candle. Check supply before a scent enters the range, and test every candidate blind in your own build: no throw measurements are published for any oil.
One line: most of your volume on core oils you can always reorder, and a few prestige scents to carry the price.
Test one oil from each tier before you plan the range: Saffron Cedarwood 15 g ₹103.84 (core), Gilli Mitti 15 g ₹140.00 (signature) and Khamrah Qahwa 50 g ₹753.00 (prestige, no 15 g listed). That is ₹996.84 for a three-tier test.

Range architecture: core, signature, prestige

Luxury customers buy the brand once and the scent every time after. Build the range around the scents you will be selling in a year.

Most high-end candle ranges, whatever the brand, follow the same shape. A few scents sell steadily all year and pay the bills. A few more give the brand its character. One or two special scents appear in gift sets, collaborations and seasonal drops. CSI's premium oils sort naturally into those three roles by price. The table uses only oils with the 1 kg in stock on the pull date, because a brand scent that cannot be bought at production size is a problem waiting to happen.

Oils with the 1 kg in stock only · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Premium oils sorted into brand tiers
Tier and role ₹/g at 1 kg Oils Every oil in the tier Oil per 200 g candle at 8%
Core (the scents that must always be in stock) ₹6.66–₹7.65 9 Neroli, Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), Saffron Cedarwood, Sage and Cedarwood, Juicy Orange, Solar Bloom, Neroli Signature Grade, Dark Vanilla, Vanilla Bean ₹106.48–₹122.34
Signature (the scents that define the brand) ₹7.99–₹9.12 15 Lavender Cranberry Coconut, Smoked Rose Royale, Midnight Bakhoor Royale, Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon, Sultan's Smoke, Orange No.3, White Royal Oud, Vanilla Orange Blossom, Sparkling Fruit, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Mahogany Teakwood (BBW Inspired), Pink Crush, Gilli Mitti (Patchouli), Hawas Ice (Rasasi Inspired), Santal Noir ₹127.98–₹145.92
Prestige (limited editions, gift sets) Over ₹9.15 8 Gingham Heart of Gold (BBW Inspired), Delina (Parfums De Marly Inspired), Tangerine, 9 PM (Afnan Inspired), Khamrah Qahwa, Hawas (Rasasi Inspired), Good Girl (Carolina Herrera Inspired), Club De Nuit Intense Inspired ₹172.80–₹384.90

The cut-offs are ours, not the store's, and they follow the gaps in the price list. The core tier stops at the two vanillas (₹7.65), the signature tier starts at the ₹7,999.00 kilos, and the prestige tier starts above Santal Noir at ₹9.12. 6 of the 8 prestige oils are inspired-by oils listed under the store's own titles. If you use one, keep the original perfume or brand name off your label and marketing. That name belongs to someone else. The tier is about cost and role, not quality: a core oil can be your best-loved scent.

Why put most of your volume on the core tier? Because it is where the per-candle maths is kindest and supply is most flexible. Several core oils, such as Raat Ki Rani and Vanilla Bean, are sold at every size from 15 g to 1 kg, so you can test, launch and scale without changing product. The prestige tier mostly lists 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg only, with no 500 g, so the step from 100 g to production is a full kilo. The luxury hub lists every premium oil by family if you need more candidates for a tier.

One oil, one role
Give each scent one job before you test it: everyday seller, brand signature or occasion piece. That tells you what to judge it on. A core scent must please most people and survive a year of reorders. A prestige scent must be memorable at a gift-set price. Judging all six by the same test is how brands end up with six signatures and nothing that sells steadily.

Supply is a brand decision

A hobby maker can swap a scent when a size runs out. A brand with a printed label, a stockist listing and repeat customers cannot. So before a scent enters the range, check three things: that its production size is in stock, that a smaller size exists for top-ups, and whether you can test it cheaply. Here are the six oils in our worked plan:

Stock status, 24 September 2026 · the six oils in the quarterly plan
Can you buy it again? Supply check for six brand scents
Oil Sizes listed (stock status) 1 kg in stock 15 g tester

Saffron Cedarwood 15 g · 50 g · 100 g · 500 g · 1 kg Yes Yes
Vanilla Bean 15 g · 50 g · 100 g · 500 g · 1 kg Yes Yes

Coffee Vanilla Tobacco 50 g · 100 g · 500 g · 1 kg Yes No — entry 50 g
Khamrah Qahwa 50 g · 100 g · 1 kg Yes No — entry 50 g

All six have the 1 kg in stock today, which is why they are in the plan. Compare Into The Night (BBW Inspired), Butterfly (BBW Inspired) and Sacred Sandal Ember, premium oils with the 1 kg out of stock on the same day. They can still be tested, but a brand should not print a label for one until a production size is confirmed on WhatsApp. Where to source for a luxury brand turns this into a full supplier checklist.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The kilo is not always the cheapest way to hold a core scent. Saffron Cedarwood costs ₹6,867.60 for the 1 kg, but two 500 g packs cost ₹5,168.40, ₹1,699.20 less for the same kilo. Sage and Cedarwood is priced the same way. We would rather you bought the two 500 g, and our plan below does. Check the 500 g price per gram before you click the kilo on any oil. On most it is the same; on these two it is not.

Supply also means consistency. The same oil bought in March and in October should smell the same in your candle. Two habits help, both general practice rather than anything specific to CSI. Keep a small retained sample from each batch of oil you pour, labelled with the purchase date. And pour one reference candle from each new bottle before a production run, burned beside the retained one. If you notice a difference, message CSI with the order details before you pour the batch.

One quarter of a high-end range, costed

A range plan is a set of numbers: candles per scent, grams per candle, packs to buy. Here is one worked through.

The plan below is illustrative. It assumes six scents poured as 200 g candles at 8% (16 g of oil each) in the signature build: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a Cotton Braided wick and a White Matte Glass Jar, a base of ₹193.02 before oil. Core scents are planned at 60 candles a quarter, signature at 30 and prestige at 15. The oil is bought in whole packs, and the per-candle oil cost uses what those packs actually cost, not the 1 kg rate.

Illustrative quarterly plan · 200 g candles at 8% · signature build · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Six scents, 255 candles, bought in real packs
Oil Tier Candles Oil needed Packs Oil spend Oil per candle Material cost
Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) Core 60 960 g 1 × 1 kg = 1000 g ₹6,774.00 ₹108.38 ₹301.40
Saffron Cedarwood Core 60 960 g 2 × 500 g = 1000 g ₹5,168.40 ₹82.69 ₹275.71
Vanilla Bean Core 60 960 g 1 × 1 kg = 1000 g ₹7,646.00 ₹122.34 ₹315.36
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) Signature 30 480 g 1 × 500 g = 500 g ₹4,480.00 ₹143.36 ₹336.38
Coffee Vanilla Tobacco Signature 30 480 g 1 × 500 g = 500 g ₹4,399.00 ₹140.77 ₹333.79
Khamrah Qahwa Prestige 15 240 g 2 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g = 250 g ₹3,765.00 ₹240.96 ₹433.98

The quarter uses 4.08 kg of oil and costs ₹32,232.40 in fragrance. The packs cover exactly what is needed plus a little spare: 40 g on each 1 kg core scent, 20 g on each 500 g signature scent and 10 g on the prestige scent. That is thinner than the 3–5% allowance we usually suggest for pour loss and test burns, a working assumption. If your pour loss runs higher, add a 100 g to the core scents. The average material cost per candle across the range is ₹314.37. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra.

Notice where the money goes. The single prestige scent is 15 candles, 6% of the volume, yet its oil costs ₹3,765.00, nearly half of what Vanilla Bean's full kilo costs (₹7,646.00) for four times as many candles. Per candle it is ₹240.96 of oil against ₹122.34. That is fine if the prestige candle is priced for it and sold as a limited piece. It is a problem if it quietly becomes a core scent at a core price. How to Choose Fragrance Oils That Make Candles Smell Expensive explains why a lower load of a well-chosen oil often reads as more expensive than a heavy load of a dear one.

1
Assign each candidate a tier and a roleCore, signature or prestige, and one sentence on the job it does. Candidates without a clear job do not get tested.
2
Check supply before testingProduction size in stock, top-up size available, reorder path clear. Anything failing this goes to WhatsApp for a restock date first.
3
Test in your build, blindSame wax, wick, jar and load; cure; code the candles so nobody knows which oil is which. Include a core oil as a control in every round.
4
Cost the winners in real packsUse the pack you will actually buy, not the 1 kg rate, and check the 500 g against the 1 kg. Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood are cheaper as two 500 g.
5
Set volumes by tierMost volume on core, a moderate run of signature, a small run of prestige. Revisit after one quarter of real sales.
6
Lock the paperworkAsk for the IFRA certificate and MSDS for each range oil, and keep them with your batch records. Stockists and corporate buyers ask for them.

Signature · Indian earth
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) Fragrance Oil
A patchouli-led earth scent with a name Indian customers recognise. It is priced almost perfectly flat: ₹8.96 a gram from 50 g to 1 kg, with only the 15 g dearer at ₹9.33. That makes it easy to plan, because a 500 g (₹4,480.00) costs exactly half the kilo.

Saffron Cedarwood Fragrance Oil
A core wood with a spice note, and the clearest pricing quirk in the premium tier. Its 500 g is ₹5.17 a gram; its 1 kg is ₹6.87. Two 500 g packs save ₹1,699.20 on a kilo. Its 15 g, at ₹6.92, is also fractionally cheaper per gram than its 100 g.

Three named notes in one oil, which suits a brand that wants its gourmand to feel grown-up rather than sweet. It starts at 50 g (₹449.00), and the 1 kg at ₹8.60 is 4.3% cheaper per gram than the 100 g. That is a small but real break.

Making catalogue oils your own

Every oil on CSI's list can be bought by any other maker. A high-end brand therefore cannot rely on the oil alone to be distinctive, and should not pretend otherwise. What makes a range feel like yours is the combination: the scent, the name you give it, the vessel, the colour, the load and cure you settle on, and the story you tell. Two brands pouring the same oil into different jars at different loads will not produce the same candle.

Some brands go further and combine two catalogue oils into a house accord. That is general candle-making practice, and it can work, but test every blend as if it were a new oil: fixed build, full cure, blind burn. Blending also doubles your supply risk, because both oils must stay in stock. Complex fragrance oils for premium candles covers blending and how to cost a blend per gram. Nothing on custom or exclusive fragrance development is published in our data. If that is what you need, ask on WhatsApp and do not assume it is available.

The range that grew sideways. A brand launches with six scents, adds a new one every month because customers ask, and a year later has twenty scents in 100 g bottles, half of them selling a few candles a quarter. Every one is priced at the tester or 100 g rate, stock is thin everywhere, and two scents have gone out of stock at production size. Fix it by capping the range. Retire a scent to make room for a new one, and move the proven sellers to 500 g or 1 kg.
The CSI principle
A brand is the scent you can sell again.
Choose premium oils for the role they play and the supply behind them, not only for how they smell on a strip. Most of your volume belongs on core scents that are always in stock; the prestige tier earns its place by being small and priced for it.
Diwali falls on 8 November 2026, and corporate and wedding gifting runs through the November–February season. A high-end brand's festive editions need their oils by mid-October. Send your range and quarterly volumes for a quote. Pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp with GST invoicing and IFRA documentation. No discount figure is published.

The quarter's order

Here is the full order for the 255-candle quarter. Wax: 255 × 184 g is 46.920 kg, or about 49.3 kg with 5%, so five 10 kg packs of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (50 kg). Wicks: Cotton Braided Wicks are ₹12.00 each at every pack size, so the 500-pack at ₹6,000.00 costs the same per wick as smaller packs and leaves 245 spare. Jars: 51 packs of the White Matte Glass Jar at ₹354.00.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A page for brands could easily push the widest range and the biggest packs. This one tells you to cap your range, and to buy Saffron Cedarwood as two 500 g rather than our 1 kg. It also says no catalogue oil is exclusive to you.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026, including the stock status of each size. Wick prices are from the 25 September 2026 pull, and the White Matte Glass Jar price is the one verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Per-gram, per-candle and order totals are plain arithmetic on those prices.

The tier cut-offs, the six-scent plan and its volumes are illustrative working assumptions, not recommendations for your market. The 8% load and 200 g candle are comparison figures. Frequently asked questions

What are the best fragrance oils for a luxury candle brand?
Premium oils you can reorder at production size. On CSI's list, 32 oils are in stock at 1 kg at ₹6.50 a gram or more. Build a core from oils like Raat Ki Rani, Saffron Cedarwood and Vanilla Bean. Add a signature such as Gilli Mitti or Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, and a prestige scent such as Khamrah Qahwa for limited editions.
How many fragrances should a candle brand have?
There is no rule. Our worked plan uses six: three core, two signature, one prestige. A smaller range keeps stock deep and oil bought at production sizes. Add a scent when reorders justify it, and retire one to make room.
How much fragrance oil does a candle brand need per month?
Multiply candles by grams per candle. At 16 g per 200 g candle, 255 candles a quarter needs 4.08 kg of oil, about 1.36 kg a month. Add 3–5% for pour loss and test burns as a working assumption.
Is 1 kg fragrance oil always cheaper than 500 g?
No. For most oils they cost the same per gram. Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood are cheaper as 500 g (₹5.17 a gram against ₹6.87 for the kilo). Coffee Vanilla Tobacco's 1 kg is slightly cheaper than its 500 g. Check each oil.
Can I use designer-inspired fragrance oils for my candle brand?
You can use the oils. CSI lists them under the store's own titles. Do not use the original perfume or designer name on your label, product name or advertising, because that name belongs to its owner. Take advice before using any third-party brand name commercially.
Where do candle brands buy fragrance oil in bulk in India?
From suppliers who can show production sizes in stock, GST invoicing and IFRA documentation. CSI lists 15 g to 1 kg packs and quotes larger or mixed orders on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Where to Source Professional Fragrance Oils for a Luxury Candle Brand in India has a full checklist.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Tier cut-offs (core ₹6.66–₹7.65, signature ₹7.99–₹9.12, prestige over ₹9.15 per gram at 1 kg) are editorial groupings of in-stock 1 kg prices. Spicy Cinnamon and Forever Red at ₹6,499.00 sit just below the premium line and are excluded. The quarterly plan (60/30/15 candles per scent) is illustrative. Per-candle figures assume a 200 g candle at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax), Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹110.22, a Cotton Braided wick ₹12.00 and a White Matte Glass Jar ₹70.80. Oil is costed at the packs actually bought. They exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. No ceiling is quoted in this series for Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, Coconut Wax or Soy Butter Wax, so 6–10% is used only as a labelled test range for those waxes. Retained-sample and reference-candle habits are general practice. No throw measurements are published for any oil. Prices and availability change, and the linked product pages are always authoritative.
