Six favourite scents do not make a collection. Six scents with six jobs do.
A customer standing at a shelf, or scrolling a product page, is choosing between your candles, not between you and another brand. If two of your masculine candles both read "woody, musky, warm", one of them is dead stock. A line built on roles solves that: each candle answers a different question (what for, when, for whom), and the gift buyer can pick by occasion without knowing a single fragrance note.

Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
The opener of the line and the safest gift for someone whose taste you do not know. Stated notes: "sea salt and ozone top notes, jasmine and lily of the valley heart, and driftwood and musk base"; stated load "candles (up to 10%)". It is the only fresh scent in the six, so it carries the line through the Indian summer (roughly April to June). Limitation: it is fractionally dearer per gram at larger sizes (₹4.94 at 50 g, ₹4.96 at 1 kg), and the 15 g is 26% dearer per gram than the 50 g.

Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil
The clean, grown-up scent for a study or office, where oud and tobacco are too much. Stated notes: "sparkling bergamot and citrus top notes, warm amber and soft floral heart, woody musk and smooth vanilla base"; the page states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax", the only oil in the line that states a cure. Limitation: it is unisex rather than overtly masculine, which is a strength in a gift range (partners buy it too) but means it should not be your signature scent.

Mahogany Teakwood Bath and Body Works Inspired Fragrance Oil
The candle that smells most like a man's cologne, which is exactly why it anchors the line. That title is CSI's product listing name; the oil is CSI's interpretation of the style and CSI is not affiliated with the brand, so your label carries your own name. Stated notes: "fresh lavender and crisp bergamot", "mahogany wood and geranium", "teakwood, cedarwood, and musk"; the page states "Extremely strong hot throw in soy wax at 7-9%" (its own claim), so test at 7%, 8% and 9%. Limitation: priced flat at ₹8.80 per gram at every size, 78% more per gram than Blue Ocean at 500 g, and no 15 g.

Gilli Mitti (Patchouli)
In our judgement the most Indian scent in the line, and not one you often find in a mass-market men's range. The page describes "fresh rain, soft soil, natural patchouli, damp woods, and light musk" that "Evokes petrichor - the scent of rain on dry earth", and states "The recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles"; it calls itself "IFRA-certified" (page wording). It gives the line a scent for the southwest monsoon (roughly June to September), when woods and oud feel less seasonal. Limitation: priced flat, ₹8.96 per gram from 50 g to 1 kg (0.0% saving at 1 kg), making it the dearest candle in the line.

Coffee Vanilla Tobacco Fragrance Oil
Tobacco is a classic masculine note, and this is CSI's candle-grade tobacco. Stated notes: "fresh brewed coffee and cocoa top notes, a vanilla cream and tonka bean heart, and a tobacco leaf, amber, and soft musk base". The page states "Recommended load - candles: 7-9% soy wax (strong throw at lower loads)" and "IFRA Certified" (page wording). Coffee on top makes it warm and social rather than smoky. Dark Vanilla Oud
The closer of the line and the scent that makes a gift box feel expensive. Stated notes: "opening with vanilla and spicy cardamom, deepening into exotic oud and deep amber, and settling into warm musk and woody cedar"; stated load "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles"; the page uses the wording "IFRA-certified". Vanilla makes the oud approachable for buyers who think they dislike oud. Argued against our own interest: you do not need all six on day one. We would happily sell you six 500 g bottles; if cash is tight, launch with four (Blue Ocean, Mahogany Teakwood, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Dark Vanilla Oud) and add Desk and Monsoon when the first four have sold through. A line of four that sells beats a line of six with two slow scents tying up stock.
Keeping six scents distinct
Musk is in all six. Vanilla is in three. That is fine, as long as neither is the headline.
Shared notes are normal in a line; they make it feel related. The risk is when a shared note is also the dominant one, so two candles read the same from the doorway. From the stated notes, the pairs to watch are the vanilla trio and the two woods.

The practical test is the doorway: burn Coffee Vanilla Tobacco and Dark Vanilla Oud on consecutive evenings in the same room. If you cannot tell them apart at two metres after an hour, drop one and use a swap from the list below. Doing this before launch costs two candles; doing it after launch costs a slow-moving SKU.

Why two tiers
The oils split cleanly. The core three average ₹64.33 of oil per candle; the reserve three average ₹106.23, ₹41.90 more. Between the cheapest and dearest candle the oil gap is ₹48.05. If you price all six the same, the reserve candles quietly earn less. Two retail bands (a core price and a reserve price) keep the margin even and give the customer a visible "step up", which in a men's gift range is the Signature, Evening and Monsoon candles. Notice where the money is: in a Blue Ocean candle the oil is only 25% of the materials; the black jar at ₹107.00 costs more than the oil in five of the six candles (Gilli Mitti's ₹107.52 of oil is the exception, by ₹0.52). A Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) at ₹94.40 lowers every candle by the difference, but a black jar is part of what makes a line read masculine.
Check before you commit to black jars: the Black Glass Jar with Black Lid (150 gram) listing title carries a note that deliveries start 5th December, with no year. If that applies this season, it arrives after Diwali (8 November 2026). Calendar facts, not forecasts: Diwali is 8 November 2026 (45 days after these prices were checked), Christmas 25 December 2026, Valentine's Day 14 February 2027, and Father's Day in India falls on the third Sunday of June, 20 June 2027. In our judgement Diwali and Christmas favour the warm half of the line (Night, Evening, Signature), Valentine's Day favours the trio, and Father's Day in the Indian summer favours Morning and Desk. Testing six scents as one line
Testing an oil and testing a line are different jobs. The oil test (loads, cure, burn) is covered in Best Masculine Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles. This test asks whether six candles work together as a range a customer can shop.

Pour the whole line at one load, in the real jarFrom the six 50 g bottles, pour one 150 g candle of each at 8% (12 g oil, 138 g wax) in the jar you will sell in. Mahogany Teakwood and Coffee Vanilla Tobacco state 7–9%, so 8% sits inside their range too. Keep the rest of each bottle for load tests later.

Cure them togetherOnly Bergamot Amber's page states a cure (48–72 hours). As common practice for soy, cure all six at least 48–72 hours and judge at day 3 and day 7; the woods, tobacco and oud usually need the longer end.

The shelf test, lids offLine the six up in role order. Ask three people to put them in order from freshest to warmest without seeing names. If the order roughly matches the map above, the line has a shape. If two candles swap places every time, they are too close.

The gift testAsk the same people which candle they would give a father, a brother, a boss and a partner. Scents that nobody picks for anyone are candidates to cut, however good they smell alone.

Swaps when a role does not work for you
Every role has at least one alternative in the CSI range. Some are perfume-grade listings with no candle load stated; for those, the wax ceiling governs (Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%), and the 15–25% figures some of their pages quote are perfume rates, not candle loads.

Is there a tobacco fragrance oil for candles in India?
Yes. CSI's Coffee Vanilla Tobacco Fragrance Oil states "7-9% soy wax (strong throw at lower loads)" and is sold from 50 g (₹449.00) to 1 kg (₹8,599.00). The fine-perfume Tobacco Vanilla is an alternative from 100 g, with no candle load stated.
Can I name my candle after a men's perfume?
No. Even where an oil is sold under a brand-inspired listing name, CSI is not affiliated with the brand and the oil is an interpretation. Name your candles after a mood, time or place, never after a perfume or perfume house.
