What does a bulk wellness candle order look like in oil? For a corporate gift box of three 70 g votives at 8%, each box uses 16.8 g of oil — 5.6 g per scent. An 800-box order needs about 4.5 kg of each of three oils, plus a margin for pour loss.

I manufacture wellness candles for corporate gifting. Which CSI oils should I buy in bulk, how much, and what does it cost at scale?
Build the order around a unit — in this worked example, a box of three 70 g votives, one each of a morning, desk and evening scent. At 8% each votive takes 5.6 g of oil and 64.4 g of wax, so a box needs 16.8 g of oil. Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹3.07/g at 1 kg), Cucumber Green Tea (₹3.33/g) and Lavender (₹5.22/g) put ₹65.05 of oil in each box; with Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram and C1 wicks, materials come to ₹276.36 a box, excluding packaging, labour, freight and GST. A manufacturer's batch maths starts with a unit that repeats. For corporate wellness gifting, our worked example uses a small box of three votives: easy to post, easy to stack, and it lets the client offer "a morning, a desk and an evening scent" without any wellness claim at all. The non-oil part of each box — wax, three votives and three wicks — is ₹211.31. The oil is ₹65.05 for box A and ₹76.84 for box B. So in a trio box the glass costs more than the fragrance, which is worth knowing when a client asks you to "upgrade the scent": it moves the price less than they think.

C1 is a starting point for small votives, not a prescription. Before a bulk order, pour ten votives per oil at your production load and burn three to a full melt pool; if the pool does not reach the edge, retest with Thick (C2). For bulk work the questions change. It matters less which oil is the most interesting and more which is in stock at 1 kg, states a candle load, and keeps its price as volume rises. We ranked these five on exactly those facts plus stated notes; we have no throw data and no sales data. All five are in stock at every size on 24 September 2026, but a store listing does not tell you how many kilograms are on the shelf — ask on WhatsApp before you commit to a client.

The cheapest oil per gram in the box at bulk and the clearest "morning" scent. The one oil in both box recipes, because, in our judgement, a "desk" scent is the easiest fit for an office gift. Stated notes: "Top Notes: Crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves | Heart Notes: Delicate jasmine, hints of lemon | Base Notes: Clean musk, light woods". Stated notes: "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes, and soft musk base"; stated load: "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles"; the page describes "a strong, IFRA-certified lavender fragrance oil". One reviewer called it "Fresh and soothing" — a customer's opinion of the scent, not wording for a client's card. Bulk fact: Blue Ocean gets fractionally dearer per gram as the size rises — ten 100 g bottles cost ₹4,950.00, ₹6.00 less than one 1 kg. For a factory the difference is trivial; the point is that size buys you nothing here.

A warmer evening scent than lavender, with a fuller structure for a premium box. The page describes "sparkling bergamot and citrus top notes, warm amber and soft floral heart, woody musk and smooth vanilla base" and states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax" — the only oil here whose page states a cure time. Batch maths at 150, 400 and 800 boxes

The oil line of a corporate quote is the easy part. The mistakes are in the wax bags and the wick packs.

For each scale we take the oil needed (boxes × 5.6 g per scent), add a 5% margin for pour loss, test votives and QC rejects (our judgement — set your own from your reject rate), and buy the cheapest mix of 1 kg, 500 g and 100 g units that covers it. Wax is CSI 464, which is priced flat per gram from 1 kg to 10 kg, so we buy 10 kg bags for handling and top up with 5 kg and 1 kg bags rather than over-buying a whole extra bag. Three things these tables show. First, the per-box cost falls only slightly with scale — from ₹292.93 to ₹286.84 — because the votives and the wax are priced flat per unit; what moves is the oil mix, the wick packs and how much each order rounds up. Second, the oil mix changes with scale: at 150 boxes the cheapest route mixes 500 g and 100 g bottles, while at 800 it is mostly kilograms. Third, rounding matters: buying whole packs and bags leaves you with a little spare oil, wax and wicks, which is stock for your next order, not waste. For volumes beyond the listed pack sizes, ask for a bulk quote on WhatsApp rather than multiplying list prices.

Mistake: quoting the client from list prices and a perfect yield. Fix: quote from a yield you have measured on at least one 50-votive trial run, and keep the 5% margin in the oil line until your reject rate says otherwise. A short order of 40 votives two days before dispatch costs more than the whole margin.

Corporate wellness gifting: what clients ask for

In our judgement, corporate clients buying "wellness" gifts care less about notes than about four things: can you do it by our date, can you put our logo on it, is it safe to give, and can you prove what is in it. Only the last two concern fragrance, and both have honest answers.

Fragrance oils are not essential oils, and a corporate card that implies otherwise is your liability as the maker, not ours as the supplier and not the client's. Ask for documents early
Some corporate procurement teams ask for MSDS for every scented product. Request MSDS and IFRA documentation for your chosen oils on WhatsApp when you order samples, not when the purchase order arrives.

The Diwali timeline, worked backwards

Diwali falls on 8 November 2026 — 45 days after these prices were checked. The chart above shows an 800-box order planned backwards from that date. The logic applies to any corporate date, including New Year (1 January 2027) and financial-year-end gifting in March.

Fix the delivery date, then subtractStart from the day the client needs boxes in hand, not from today. Subtract delivery time to the client, then packing, then cure, then pouring. What is left is your deadline for materials.

Size the pour to your real capacityAt a worked-example rate of 400 votives a day, 2,400 votives take 6 working days. Protect the cureOf the five oils, only the Bergamot Amber page states a cure (48–72 hours). For the others, at least 48–72 hours and longer for soy is common practice; we plan seven days for a corporate order so every box smells as it did in the sample.

Get approval on cured samplesSend the client cured sample boxes, not fresh ones, and get written approval of the scents before you order bulk oil. The 50 g sample set covers eight votives per oil.

Order materials with a bufferPlace the bulk order the day the client approves, and confirm dispatch on WhatsApp. Delivery time depends on your location; we assume four days in the chart as a worked example only.

Hold a pouring reserveKeep the 5% oil margin, and the spare wax and wicks the pack sizes leave you, until the last box passes QC. Stock, overage and what to hold after the order

A manufacturer's stock problem is not running out during the order; it is what happens to the part-used kilograms afterwards. Three rules keep that under control.

Rule 1 — buy the order, not the year

For flat-priced oils there is no reward for buying beyond the order: Cucumber Green Tea is ₹3.33/g at 500 g and 1 kg alike; Blue Ocean is dearer per gram at 1 kg than at 100 g. Buy what the order needs plus the margin. The exception is an oil that steps down steeply and that you know you will reuse — Eucalyptus Spearmint's 1 kg saves ₹472.00 against ten 100 g bottles. Rule 2 — keep leftovers in the scents you sell retail

Box A's three oils also make a retail wellness collection. Leftover Lavender from a corporate run becomes next month's evening candles; leftover Eucalyptus Spearmint becomes your summer range. Choose corporate scents from your retail range where you can, so no leftover is dead stock.

Rule 3 — store and label every opened bottle

Keep bottles tightly closed, upright, out of sun and away from heat, labelled with the date opened and the order it came from. CSI product pages do not state a shelf life for these oils; if a client or retailer needs one, ask us on WhatsApp rather than guessing.

Argued against our own interest: we would happily sell you five kilograms of each oil for "the season". For a gift-box manufacturer with one or two corporate orders a quarter, do not buy them. Buy each order's oil when the order is confirmed; on four of these five oils the per-gram saving from pre-buying is small or nil, and a part-used kilogram of the wrong scent is a real cost.

Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil do I need for 1,000 votive candles?
At 8% in a 70 g votive, 5.6 g each, so 5.6 kg for 1,000 votives, plus a margin for pour loss and rejects — we use 5% as a starting point. Split that across however many scents you are pouring.
What is the cost of a corporate wellness candle gift box in India?
Worked example: three 70 g soy votives (Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea, Lavender) at 8% cost ₹276.36 in materials at 1 kg oil prices — oil, wax, votives and wicks, excluding packaging, labour, freight and GST.
Which fragrance oil is cheapest in bulk for candles at CSI?
Of the wellness oils here, Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07 per gram in the 1 kg size (₹3,068.00). Cucumber Green Tea is ₹3.33 per gram at 500 g and 1 kg.
Can I call corporate gift candles aromatherapy or stress-relief candles?
No. They are soy candles scented with fragrance oils, which are not essential oils. Use mood and moment language — morning, desk, evening — and generic candle safety wording on the card.
How early should I order fragrance oil for a Diwali corporate order?
Work backwards from delivery: packing, a one-week cure and your pouring days. For an 800-box order due before Diwali on 8 November 2026, that puts material arrival around mid-October and client approval around 10 October.
Does CSI provide MSDS and IFRA documents for bulk orders?
MSDS and IFRA documentation are available on request on WhatsApp. Ask when you order samples so they are ready before your client’s procurement team asks.
