Soy Candles · 1 kg Packs
A kilo of fragrance oil is two months of production for a small soy brand, or two weeks for a busy one. For some oils it is also cheaper per gram. For most it is not. This page tells you which is which, and how many candles you are buying.
62.50
soy candles of 200 g from one 1 kg pack at 8% · 83.33 at 6% · 50.00 at 10% · before pour allowance
Quick answers — read this first
How many soy candles does 1 kg of fragrance oil make? For 200 g candles: 83.33 at 6%, 62.50 at 8%, 50.00 at 10%. For 85 g tins at 8%, 147.06. Allow 3–5% for pour loss, so plan about 60 candles of 200 g at 8%.

Is 1 kg fragrance oil cheaper than 100 g? For 24 oils, by 5% or more, led by Citronella (62.3%), Honeydew Melon (22.0%) and Mango Coconut (20.7%). For 52 of the 91 oils listing both sizes, the kilo is within 1% of the 100 g. Buy those kilos for stock security, not savings.

Which 1 kg fragrance oils are in stock? 73 oils were in stock at 1 kg on 24 September 2026. 19 oils list a 1 kg that was out of stock, including Vetiver, Freshwater (BBW Inspired) and Sacred Sandal Ember. See the stock section.

How much soy wax goes with 1 kg of fragrance oil? At 8%, 11.50 kg of wax per kilo of oil. At 10%, 9.00 kg. At 6%, 15.67 kg. See the wax table.
The short answer
Candles per kg: 1,000 ÷ (weight × load). 200 g: 83.33 / 62.50 / 50.00 at 6 / 8 / 10%. 85 g tin: 196.08 / 147.06 / 117.65.
When a kilo pays: It is one of the 24 oils with a 5%+ saving (19 of them in stock at 1 kg), or you use a kilo within about two to three months and cannot risk running out.
Worked order: Mango Coconut, Roasted Coconut and Apple Cinnamon 1 kg (₹12,706.60) + 35 kg CSI 464 + jars and wicks for 180 candles: ₹44,389.60.

One kilo goes a long way in small formats and less far in large candles or at higher loads. At 8% a kilo fills 62.50 candles of 200 g. At 10% the same kilo fills 50.00. Count candles per kilo before you decide whether a kilo is two months of stock or two weeks.
Straight answer
Should you buy fragrance oil for soy candles in 1 kg packs, and which ones?
Buy a kilo when either the price or your reorders justify it. On price: 24 oils are 5% or more cheaper per gram at 1 kg than at 100 g, and 19 of them were in stock at 1 kg on the pull date. They include Mango Coconut (20.7%), Roasted Coconut (19.2%), Eucalyptus Spearmint (13.3%) and British Rose (10.3%). For those the kilo saves money from the first order. For 52 of 91 oils, though, the kilo costs within 1% of ten 100 g bottles. Apple Cinnamon is exactly the same per gram. Buy those kilos only when a scent sells fast enough that running out would cost you more. A kilo makes 62.50 soy candles of 200 g at 8%, about 60 after pour loss, and needs 11.50 kg of wax. At 40 candles a month that is about a month and a half of stock. Check the kilo is in stock first: 19 listed kilos were not. A three-kilo order with 35 kg of CSI 464, jars and wicks for 180 candles costs ₹44,389.60.
One line: buy the kilo for a real price break or for stock security, count the candles first, and never for a saving the per-gram numbers do not show.
Three kilos, three reasons: Mango Coconut ₹3,964.00 (20.7% below its 100 g rate), Roasted Coconut ₹3,999.00 (19.2% below) and Apple Cinnamon ₹4,743.60 (the same per gram as 100 g, bought for stock security). Together ₹12,706.60, against ₹14,693.60 in 100 g bottles.

Candles per kilo

A kilo is not a quantity until you turn it into candles. Do that first and the rest of the decision gets easy.

The formula is candles per kg = 1,000 ÷ (candle weight × load). It depends on two things you control: the size of your candle and your load. The table covers the common soy sizes at 6%, 8% and 10%. All three loads sit inside the published ceilings of both CSI 464 (up to 10%) and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13%).

Candles from one 1 kg pack · before pour allowance
How many soy candles a kilo of oil makes
Candle At 6% At 8% At 10%
85 g tin 196.08 147.06 117.65
150 g (illustrative) 111.11 83.33 66.67
200 g (cluster default) 83.33 62.50 50.00
300 g (illustrative) 55.56 41.67 33.33

Plan 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns. This is a working assumption, so measure your own over a few batches. At 8% in 200 g candles, a kilo realistically fills about 60 candles, leaving 40 g for losses. At 10%, you get 50 candles before loss, 48 after. The 85 g Golden Aluminium Tin row shows why tin and small-format makers reach the kilo sooner than they expect to need it: at 8%, one kilo is 147 tins.

Count per scent, not per range
A kilo is one oil. If your range has six scents and you pour 120 candles a month, each scent gets 20 candles, which is 320 g at 8%. A kilo of each would last three months. Kilos make sense scent by scent, starting with your bestseller.

The 24 kilos that cost less

Across the 91 oils that list both a 100 g and a 1 kg, only 24 are 5% or more cheaper per gram at 1 kg. Here they are, in order of saving, with the 1 kg stock status on 24 September 2026 and the oil cost of a 200 g soy candle at 8% at the kilo rate. Five of the 24 had no 1 kg in stock on the pull date and are marked. Do not plan around them until they are restocked.

Read the list for what it says about range planning. Citronella's 62.3% is the outlier. Its 100 g is priced high (₹7.67 a gram) and its kilo low (₹2.89). Fresh, fruity and festive-spice oils dominate the rest: Honeydew Melon, Mango Coconut, Verbena, Roasted Coconut, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lemongrass and Lime, and the Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice and Fallen Leaves group at 10.0%. If two oils could do the same job in your soy range, and one is on this list, the one on the list is the cheaper scent to grow.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We sell the 1 kg pack, and for most oils it is not cheaper per gram than the 100 g. For Apple Cinnamon, Sandalwood, Autumn and many others, ten 100 g bottles cost exactly the same as one kilo, and for a few, such as Love Spell and Pomegranate Splash, the kilo costs fractionally more. For those oils the kilo buys you fewer orders and less risk of running out. That is worth paying for on a bestseller, and not worth it on a scent you are still testing.

Kilos out of stock

Seventy-three oils were in stock at 1 kg on the pull date. 19 oils list a 1 kg that was not: Vetiver, Rajnigandha (Tuberose), Freshwater (BBW Inspired), Moca Coffee, Into The Night (BBW Inspired), Dahlia (BBW Inspired), Sacred Sandal Ember, Spiced Rum, Khamrah (Lattafa Inspired), Coffee Blast, Grapefruit Oleo, Butterfly (BBW Inspired), Baccarat Rouge 540 Inspired, Ombre Leather (Tom Ford Inspired), Regal Royal Oud, Frankincense and Tonka (1 kg), Wild Berry, Acqua Di Gio Inspired, Spicy Raspberry (second listing). Some of these have smaller sizes in stock. Vetiver, for example, is buyable up to 500 g (₹2,900.00, ₹5.80 a gram), and Freshwater (BBW Inspired) up to 100 g. Others have nothing in stock at any size.

For a soy maker this has one practical consequence. Do not make an oil your bestseller unless its production size is in stock, or unless you have asked for and received a restock date. A kilo that is out of stock in October is a problem in November, with Diwali on 8 November and the November–February wedding season behind it. Check the live product page before every order. Stock changes, and the page is always authoritative.

The 500 g is sometimes the smarter kilo
For a few oils the 500 g carries the kilo rate, or better. Mango Coconut is ₹3.96 a gram at both 500 g and 1 kg, and Honeydew Melon ₹3.40 at both. Saffron Cedarwood is ₹5.17 at 500 g but ₹6.87 at 1 kg, so two 500 g bottles beat the kilo by ₹1,699.20. Always divide every size.

When a kilo pays

Two reasons justify a kilo: it is cheaper per gram, or running out would cost you more than holding the stock.

The first reason is on the list above. The second depends on how fast you use a scent. The table shows how long one kilo lasts at different monthly volumes of 200 g candles at 8%.

One 1 kg pack · 200 g candles at 8% (16 g each) · before pour allowance
How long a kilo lasts, by monthly volume of one scent
Candles a month (one scent) Oil used a month One kilo lasts
20 candles 320 g 3.12 months
40 candles 640 g 1.56 months
60 candles 960 g 1.04 months
100 candles 1,600 g 0.62 months
1
Is the oil on the saving list and in stock at 1 kg?If yes, and you will use the kilo within a few months, buy it. It saves money from the first order. A kilo of Mango Coconut costs ₹1,036.00 less than ten 100 g bottles.
2
If not, how many candles a month does the scent sell?At 20 a month a kilo lasts over three months. General practice is to keep fragrance oils sealed, cool and dark and to use opened stock first, so holding months of an unproven scent is not ideal. Stay on 100 g.
3
Does running out cost you sales? At 60 or more a month, a kilo lasts about a month. Reordering 100 g bottles weekly is a risk, especially near Diwali. Buy the kilo for stock security even at the same per-gram price.
4
Is the scent still in testing? Then do not buy a kilo, whatever the saving. A 20% discount on oil you do not use is a 100% loss. Test in 15 g, produce from 100 g, and move up once it sells.
5
Need several kilos of one oil?Past the listed 1 kg pack, ask for a quote on WhatsApp. No discount figure is published. Wholesale for soy businesses explains the route.
The kilo bought for the wrong reason. A new soy brand buys six kilos in its first month, one per scent, because "bulk is cheaper". Four of the six are flat-priced, so nothing is saved. Two scents do not sell, and eight months later two open kilos are still on the shelf. Buy kilos one scent at a time, starting with the bestseller or an oil on the saving list, and let sales earn each one its place.

Wax to match a kilo

A kilo of oil implies a lot of wax, and many makers under-order it. At load L, wax = oil × (100 − L) ÷ L. The table gives the wax, its cost in both container soy waxes and the 200 g candles it makes, for one kilo of oil at each load.

One 1 kg pack of oil · wax at listed per-kg rates · 24 September 2026
The soy wax that goes with one kilo of oil
Load Finished candle weight Wax needed CSI 464 cost Chunks cost 200 g candles
6% 16.67 kg 15.67 kg ₹7,949.27 ₹9,384.33 83.33
8% 12.50 kg 11.50 kg ₹5,835.10 ₹6,888.50 62.50
10% 10.00 kg 9.00 kg ₹4,566.60 ₹5,391.00 50.00
13% 7.69 kg 6.69 kg Above CSI 464's 10% ceiling ₹4,008.69 38.46

At 13%, only Luxury Soy Wax Chunks apply, because CSI 464 is rated up to 10%. For Natural Soy Pearl (₹424.80 a kilo from 5 kg) no ceiling is quoted here, so check the product page before planning above 10%. The point of the table: one kilo of oil at 8% commits you to about 11.5 kg of wax, ₹5,835.10 in CSI 464, before jars and wicks. Budget both together. Bulk planning for soy manufacturers scales this to 1,000-candle runs.

A three-kilo order

Here is a worked kilo order that shows both reasons. Two kilos are on the saving list (Mango Coconut and Roasted Coconut), and one is flat-priced but a proven festive seller (Apple Cinnamon). Each kilo pours 60 candles of 200 g at 8%, 960 g, leaving 40 g (4.2%) for pour loss. That is 180 candles in all, 33.12 kg of wax, so 35 kg of CSI 464 in three 10 kg bags and one 5 kg bag.

200 g · 8% · oil at the 1 kg rate · CSI 464 ₹507.40 / kg · wick ₹5.90 · jar ₹70.80
Material cost per candle from the three kilos
Oil ₹/g at 1 kg vs 10 × 100 g Oil per candle Material cost per candle

Roasted Coconut ₹4.00 ₹951.00 saved ₹63.98 ₹234.05
Apple Cinnamon ₹4.74 ₹0.00 saved ₹75.90 ₹245.96

Material cost covers oil, wax, wick and jar. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The two coconut kilos save ₹1,987.00 between them against 100 g bottles. The Apple Cinnamon kilo saves nothing and is there only because the scent sells steadily through the festive months. Roasted Coconut has no 500 g size, so the kilo is the only way to get its lower rate.

The CSI principle
Buy the kilo for a real price break or for stock security. Never for a discount that is not there.
Divide the kilo price by 1,000 and compare it with the 100 g price per gram. If the kilo is cheaper, and you will use it in a few months, buy it. If it is not, buy it only when running out would cost more than holding the stock.
A kilo is sixty soy candles. Know which sixty before you buy it.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. This page sells our 1 kg packs, and it still tells you that for most oils the kilo is not cheaper per gram, names the few where it costs slightly more, and lists every kilo that was out of stock on the pull date.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from CSI live listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Kilo-saving percentages are those in our catalogue analysis of the same pull. Jar and wick prices were verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Candle counts, wax quantities and totals are arithmetic on those figures, shown to two decimals so you can check them.

Load ceilings (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. The 150 g and 300 g sizes, 3–5% pour allowance and storage notes are illustrative or general practice. About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team as the 1 kg page of the soy candle cluster. Product recommendations reflect the CSI range. The candles-per-kilo and kilo-saving checks apply to any supplier.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on the product pages named on each card — Eco Candle Wicks, Premium Candle Wicking Needle and Bamboo Wick Holder. They are general product reviews, not assessments of the guidance set out here. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on the three reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy and Sneha Tamang; the reviews from Ashwini, LJ and Lalitha Jagan are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Candles per kg = 1,000 ÷ (candle weight × load); wax per kg of oil = 1,000 × (100 − load) ÷ load. Kilo savings compare 1 kg and 100 g per gram: 24 of 91 oils save 5% or more, 52 are within ±1%. Per-candle material cost uses oil at the 1 kg rate, 184 g CSI 464, one Eco Thin C1 wick and one White Matte Glass Jar, and excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The 150 g and 300 g sizes, 3–5% allowance and storage notes are illustrative or general practice. Load ceilings are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
