Wholesale Fragrance Oils for Soy Candle Businesses
Share
Is 1 kg cheaper than 100 g? For some oils. Honeydew Melon is 22.0% cheaper per gram at 1 kg and Verbena 20.0%. For 52 of the 91 oils that list both sizes, the kilo is within 1% of the 100 g. Blue Ocean and Love Spell cost a few rupees more per kilo than ten 100 g bottles. Details in the kilo table.
How much oil does a soy candle business use a month? At 200 g and 8%, 16 g a candle: 1.6 kg for 100 candles, 4.8 kg for 300, 9.6 kg for 600. Wax is 11.5 times the oil weight at that load.
What should I send for a wholesale quote? Each oil by name with kg per order, your wax and kg, dates, GST number and delivery PIN code, and which documents you need. The full list is in the quote checklist.
How wholesale works for a soy brand
CSI lists fragrance oils in up to five sizes, and the largest is 1 kg. Seventy-three oils were in stock at 1 kg on 24 September 2026. The store has no stated minimum order, so a soy candle business can buy one kilo of one oil, or ten kilos of ten, at listed prices without asking anyone. That covers most small and mid-sized soy brands. Beyond the listed packs, for several kilos of one oil in one order, a regular monthly supply or oil and wax together, the route is a quote on WhatsApp.
What we do not publish matters as much. There is no published volume discount percentage, no free-shipping threshold and no "manufacturer price" on these pages. Anyone who quotes you one from a blog post, including us, is guessing. Ask with your actual list and you get an actual answer. What is published is the listed price of every pack, and that already tells you a lot about where the savings are.
For a soy business the wax matters here too. CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo at 1, 5 and 10 kg, so there is no bulk break. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are ₹599.00 a kilo at 1 kg and 5 kg, and the 10 kg bag at ₹5,999.00 works out to ₹599.90, which is fractionally more than two 5 kg bags at ₹5,990.00. Natural Soy Pearl is the only soy wax with a listed break: ₹450.00 a kilo at 1 kg, ₹424.80 from 5 kg up (5.6%), with a 50 kg bag at ₹21,240.00.
Monthly volume, in kilos
Wholesale conversations go faster in kilos than in candles. The table converts monthly candle counts into oil and wax, with the wax cost in both container soy waxes, and suggests the buying route. All figures assume 200 g candles at 8%. Add 3–5% for pour loss as a working assumption.
| Monthly volume | Oil | Wax | Wax cost in CSI 464 | Wax cost in Chunks | Suggested oil route |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 candles | 1.6 kg | 18.4 kg | ₹9,336.16 | ₹11,021.60 | 100 g and 500 g packs per scent; 1 kg for the bestseller |
| 300 candles | 4.8 kg | 55.2 kg | ₹28,008.48 | ₹33,064.80 | 1 kg per scent; ask for a quote if you reorder monthly |
| 600 candles | 9.6 kg | 110.4 kg | ₹56,016.96 | ₹66,129.60 | Several 1 kg packs per scent: ask for a WhatsApp quote beyond the listed packs |
| 1000 candles | 16.0 kg | 184.0 kg | ₹93,361.60 | ₹1,10,216.00 | Quote on WhatsApp for oil and wax; plan kilos against the wax ceiling (bulk planning) |
Two things stand out. First, oil volume is small next to wax volume, but it costs far more per kilo. At 300 candles, 55.2 kg of CSI 464 costs about ₹28,000, and 4.8 kg of oil can cost anything from about ₹13,600 at value-tier rates to well over ₹40,000 at premium rates. Second, volume per scent matters more than total volume. A range of six scents at 300 candles a month is 50 candles per scent, 800 g of oil, which is less than one kilo each. The case for wholesale pricing is scent by scent.
When the kilo is the wholesale price
The quickest way to see it is to price ten 100 g bottles against one 1 kg pack of the same oil. Here are nine oils, chosen to show the whole range, from a 22.0% saving to a small premium.
| Oil | 10 × 100 g | 1 × 1 kg | Saving per kilo | Saving % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honeydew Melon | ₹4,354.20 | ₹3,398.40 | ₹955.80 | 22.0% |
| Verbena | ₹5,900.00 | ₹4,720.00 | ₹1,180.00 | 20.0% |
| Lemongrass and Lime | ₹5,900.00 | ₹5,200.00 | ₹700.00 | 11.9% |
| British Rose | ₹3,422.00 | ₹3,068.00 | ₹354.00 | 10.3% |
| Ylang Ylang Flower | ₹5,900.00 | ₹5,310.00 | ₹590.00 | 10.0% |
| Cucumber Green Tea | ₹3,528.20 | ₹3,327.60 | ₹200.60 | 5.7% |
| Sandalwood | ₹5,026.80 | ₹5,026.80 | ₹0.00 | 0.0% |
| Blue Ocean | ₹4,950.00 | ₹4,956.00 | -₹6.00 | -0.1% |
| Love Spell | ₹4,490.00 | ₹4,499.00 | -₹9.00 | -0.2% |
The top five rows are oils from the list of 24 with a real kilo break. For a soy brand using a kilo of Verbena a month, the kilo saves ₹1,180.00 a month, ₹14,160.00 over a year. The bottom rows are the more common case. Sandalwood is identical per gram at 100 g and 1 kg, so the kilo buys convenience and stock security, not a lower rate. Blue Ocean and Love Spell cost ₹6.00 and ₹9.00 more per kilo than ten 100 g bottles. Too small to matter on its own, but proof that bigger is not automatically cheaper.
This has a direct consequence for range planning. If two scents do the same job in your range, a warm floral or a fresh green say, and one has a real kilo break, the one with the break is the cheaper oil to scale. Cucumber Green Tea at ₹3.33 a gram at 1 kg is one of the cheapest fresh oils to run at volume. Test it against your current fresh scent before you commit a year of production to either. Buying 1 kg for soy lists every kilo in stock and which save.
Asking for a quote
When your volume per scent goes past the listed packs, or you want oil and wax on one invoice and one delivery, ask for a quote. A complete request gets a complete answer first time. Here is what to send:
| Include | Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Oils and quantities | Each oil by exact store name, kg per order and per month | Lets us check stock for every line, not just the first |
| Sizes you prefer | 1 kg packs, 500 g, or mixed | Pack mix affects price per gram on a few oils |
| Wax and quantity | Chunks, CSI 464 or Natural Soy Pearl, and kg | Oil and wax quoted together on one GST invoice |
| Dates | When you need it, e.g. before Diwali on 8 November | Stock on popular sizes can tighten in festive months |
| Business details | GST number, billing and delivery address with PIN code | For the GST invoice and freight quote |
| Documents | MSDS and IFRA certificate per oil | Sent with the order, not chased later |
A 300-candle month, costed
Here is a real wholesale month for a soy candle business: 300 container candles of 200 g at 8% in CSI 464, 60 of each of five scents. Each scent needs 960 g of oil, so one 1 kg pack per scent leaves 40 g, a 4.2% allowance inside the 3–5% planning range. The wax need is 55.2 kg, so six 10 kg bags (60 kg) cover it with a margin. The range mixes four oils with real kilo breaks and one flat-priced oil.
| Scent | ₹/g at 1 kg | Oil per candle | Material cost per candle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Honeydew Melon | ₹3.40 | ₹54.37 | ₹224.44 |
| Verbena | ₹4.72 | ₹75.52 | ₹245.58 |
| Cucumber Green Tea | ₹3.33 | ₹53.24 | ₹223.30 |
| Ylang Ylang Flower | ₹5.31 | ₹84.96 | ₹255.02 |
| Sandalwood | ₹5.03 | ₹80.43 | ₹250.49 |
Material cost here means oil, wax, wick and jar only. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. On oil alone the month is ₹21,782.80 at kilo prices against ₹24,709.20 in 100 g bottles, a difference of ₹2,926.40. Verbena, Honeydew Melon and Ylang Ylang Flower account for nearly all of it. Sandalwood saves nothing, and Cucumber Green Tea saves ₹200.60. That split is exactly why you should plan wholesale scent by scent.

Shopping list: one month, 300 soy candles
The listed-pack baseline for the worked month. Use it as the figure to compare any quote against. Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026. Jar and wick prices were verified on 10 September 2026. Delivery and GST are not included.
| Item | Qty | Unit price | Line total | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kg each: Honeydew Melon, Verbena, Cucumber Green Tea, Ylang Ylang Flower, Sandalwood | 1 | ₹21,782.80 | ₹21,782.80 | 5 kg oil · 960 g used per scent |
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg | 6 | ₹5,074.00 | ₹30,444.00 | 60 kg for 55.2 kg + allowance |
| White Matte Glass Jar, pack of 5 | 60 | ₹354.00 | ₹21,240.00 | 300 jars |
| Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1, 100 | 3 | ₹590.00 | ₹1,770.00 | 300 wicks |
| Total | ₹75,236.80 | ₹250.79 per candle |
The jars are the second-largest line after the wax, which surprises many makers. If you package differently, swap the jar line for your own container price. Carry-over into the next month: 40 g of each oil and about 4.8 kg of CSI 464 before pour loss. If you prefer Luxury Soy Wax Chunks for their 13% ceiling, twelve 5 kg bags (₹35,940.00) are ₹54.00 cheaper than six 10 kg bags (₹35,994.00) for the same 60 kg. It is a small point, but it shows how pack prices work.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A wholesale page is where a supplier is most tempted to hint at discounts. We publish no volume discount figure, so this page does not suggest one. It shows where our own listed kilos save money, where they do not, and where two kilos cost fractionally more than the bottles they replace.
Every oil and wax price on this page comes from CSI live listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Jar and wick prices were verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Saving percentages, monthly volumes and basket totals are arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals so you can check them.
The 200 g candle, 8% load, 3–5% pour allowance and volume bands are working assumptions for planning, not published CSI tiers. Load ceilings (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits.
