CSI Collection Buying · Hotel-Inspired
Hotel-inspired is a structure, not a scent you can buy by name: a bright citrus or tea top, a clean heart, a warm base of woods and musk. Here are the five CSI oils that build it, what to pay per gram, and the order that tests them properly.
₹1,501.81
five hotel-style oils × 50 g — enough to test each at 6%, 8% and 10% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What is a hotel-inspired fragrance oil? A style, not a product. The candles people describe as smelling "like a hotel" share a structure: a bright citrus or tea opening, a clean herbal or soft-floral middle, and a dry-down of woods, musk and amber with very little sweetness. CSI does not sell an oil that reproduces any specific hotel's scent, and we would be wary of any supplier who claims to. You build the style from families.

Which CSI oils should I buy first? Five: Bergamot Amber, Cucumber Green Tea, Sage and Cedarwood, Sandalwood and White Royal Oud. Between them they cover every role, all five are in stock at every listed size on 24 September 2026, and all five pages state a candle load that tops out at 10%.

What size should I buy? 50 g of each, not 15 g. A proper test is three candles per oil at 6%, 8% and 10%, which uses 36 g of oil. A 15 g bottle makes one 150 g candle at 8%. The five-oil 50 g set costs ₹1,501.81.

What does a full first order cost? ₹5,130.01 for oils, 3 kg of wax, 20 jars, 20 wicks and wick stickers: enough for 20 test candles. That is ₹256.50 per test candle, before freight and GST.
The short answer
The style: bright top (bergamot, tea, cucumber), clean heart (sage, soft jasmine, rose), warm base (sandalwood, cedar, musk, amber). Restraint matters more than strength.
The shortlist: Bergamot Amber and White Royal Oud span all three roles with a warm base; Cucumber Green Tea also names all three roles, but with a light base, and brings the fresh tea; Sage and Cedarwood and Sandalwood are the dry, clean woods.
The buy: 50 g of each, ₹1,501.81. Skip 1 kg until one oil has passed a burn test: bulk saves only ₹1.96 per candle on Bergamot Amber.
The test: 6%, 8% and 10% in 150 g jars, cured and burned side by side. Keep the lowest load that passes.
Hotel-style scent architecture: the CSI five Notes as stated on each CSI product page, sorted into the three roles a hotel-style candle needs OIL TOP · BRIGHT HEART · CLEAN BASE · WARM ₹/g 50 g Bergamot Amber pick 1 of 5 bergamot, citrus warm amber, soft floral woody musk, smooth vanilla ₹5.60 Cucumber Green Tea pick 2 of 5 cucumber, green tea leaves jasmine, hint of lemon clean musk, light woods ₹3.53 Sage and Cedarwood pick 3 of 5 not stated on page herbaceous sage warm, woody cedar ₹7.08 Sandalwood pick 4 of 5 not stated on page not stated on page creamy sandalwood ₹5.43 White Royal Oud pick 5 of 5 bergamot, saffron white oud, rose, labdanum sandalwood, musk, ambergris ₹8.40 3 of 5 oils 4 of 5 oils 5 of 5 oils Role covered by 250 g set ₹1,501.81 Shaded cell = the product page names notes in that role. Dashed = the page does not list notes for that role. Sage and Cedarwood and Sandalwood are described as single accords, not as top/heart/base pyramids. Per-gram price at the 50 g size, CSI live pricing, verified 24 September 2026.
The five shortlisted oils mapped to the three roles of a hotel-style candle, using only the notes each CSI product page states. Bergamot Amber, Cucumber Green Tea and White Royal Oud all name notes in all three roles (Cucumber Green Tea's base is only clean musk and light woods); Sandalwood is a single-note oil and does its work entirely in the base.
Straight answer
I want to make hotel-style candles. Which CSI fragrance oils do I buy first, and how much?
Buy 50 g each of Bergamot Amber (₹280.00), Cucumber Green Tea (₹176.41), Sage and Cedarwood (₹354.00), Sandalwood (₹271.40) and White Royal Oud (₹420.00): ₹1,501.81 for 250 g of oil. That is enough to pour each oil at 6%, 8% and 10% in a 150 g jar and still have 14 g of each left for a retest candle. Pour into Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, whose stated ceiling of 10% matches the top of every one of these oils' stated ranges. Do not buy 500 g or 1 kg of anything until an oil has survived a burn test; on four of these five, the 1 kg is only 2.9% to 7.4% cheaper per gram than the 50 g (and on Sage and Cedarwood the 1 kg is dearer per gram than the 500 g), which is a few rupees per candle and not worth the risk of a kilogram you do not like.
One line: hotel-inspired is a structure (bright, clean, warm), so buy the structure in 50 g bottles, test it at three loads, and scale only the winner.
Start with the oil that does all three jobs. Bergamot Amber 50 g is ₹280.00 (₹5.60 per gram), enough for four 150 g candles at 8%. Its page states 6–10% for soy wax and a 48–72 hour cure.
Buy Bergamot Amber 50 g — ₹280.00

What "hotel-inspired" means, as scent architecture

Nobody walks into a good hotel lobby and smells "a scent". They smell a structure that has been built to be pleasant for eight hours.

When a buyer asks for a "hotel" candle, they are describing a feeling, not a note: the room smells expensive, clean and awake, nothing shouts, and you are not tired of it an hour later. That feeling comes from how the fragrance is built, in three roles. Buy oils by role rather than by name and you stop chasing a scent nobody can sell you.

Role 1 — Top, bright: the first ten seconds

This is what someone notices when they lift the lid or walk in: citrus peel (bergamot, neroli, verbena), green tea, cucumber, a little saffron or cardamom spice. In the shortlist, Bergamot Amber opens on "sparkling bergamot and citrus top notes", Cucumber Green Tea on "crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves", and White Royal Oud on "bergamot and saffron". Brightness separates a hotel-style candle from a plain woody one, but top notes are the first thing a burning candle spends (how they behave in soy is covered in Premium Hotel Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles). An oil that is only top notes will not carry the style alone.

Role 2 — Heart, clean: what the room smells of

The middle is where "clean" lives. It is usually herbal (sage, lavender, green notes) or a soft, quiet floral (a little jasmine, a little rose) rather than a big bouquet. Cucumber Green Tea lists "delicate jasmine, hints of lemon"; Sage and Cedarwood is built on "herbaceous sage"; Bergamot Amber has "warm amber and soft floral heart"; White Royal Oud has "white royal oud, rose petals, and labdanum". Restraint is the rule: a heart that reads as a named flower pushes the candle towards "floral".

Role 3 — Base, warm: what stays when you leave

The base makes the style read as expensive rather than as a room spray: woods, musk, amber, and in darker versions a soft oud. In our judgement it is the part customers remember and reorder. All five shortlisted oils name a base on their pages: woody musk and smooth vanilla (Bergamot Amber); clean musk and light woods (Cucumber Green Tea); warm, woody cedar (Sage and Cedarwood); creamy sandalwood (Sandalwood); creamy sandalwood, ambergris and soft musk (White Royal Oud). That is why each made the list.

Role 4 — What the style leaves out

The style leaves out obvious sweetness, loud spice and heavy smoke, which is why Dark Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon, both good oils, are not here. Bergamot Amber's "smooth vanilla" base is a softener under citrus, but check it first in your burn test.

What we will not sell you, argued against our own interest: an oil that "smells exactly like" a named hotel. CSI has no such product, and a supplier who claims to have one is either guessing or borrowing a trademark you cannot legally put on your label. Hotel-inspired, on this page, means the style above. Name your candles after the mood (Lobby, Suite, Terrace, Late Check-out) and never after a real hotel or perfume house. How to build names and a line around this is the job of Best Hotel-Inspired Fragrances for a Luxury Candle Brand.

The five oils to buy first

Five oils, one per job, and two with a base heavy enough to do every job. That is the whole first order.

Ranked on what we can show you: roles covered by the stated notes, whether a candle load is stated, price per gram at 50 g, stock at every size, and base-note weight. We have no throw measurements and will not invent any; which is structurally "strongest" is argued in Strong Hotel-Inspired Fragrance Oils for Candle Making. Candle counts assume 150 g at 8% (12 g of oil).

1
citrus amber · all three roles · the backbone
Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil
The most complete hotel-style structure on the shortlist at a mid-range price. The page describes "sparkling bergamot and citrus top notes, warm amber and soft floral heart, woody musk and smooth vanilla base" — bright, clean and warm in one bottle. The page states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax". Limitation: the vanilla in the base is the note most likely to drift towards sweet at 10%, so compare your 8% and 10% candles carefully.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 gm ₹280.00 ₹5.60 4
100 gm ₹560.00 ₹5.60 8
500 gm ₹2,718.00 ₹5.44 41
1 kg ₹5,437.00 ₹5.44 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹67.20 at the 50 g price, ₹65.24 at 1 kg. Buy Bergamot Amber
2
fresh green · all three roles, light base · the cheapest of the five
Cucumber Green Tea
The fresh-tea note is the shortest route to the "just-cleaned suite" feel. Stated notes: "Top Notes: Crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves | Heart Notes: Delicate jasmine, hints of lemon | Base Notes: Clean musk, light woods". The page says "we recommend using 8-10% fragrance oil per pound of wax"; the wording is loose, so we apply it like every other load on this page, as a percentage of total candle weight, and test at 8% and 10% with 6% as a control. At ₹3.53 per gram from 50 g it is the least expensive oil on the list. Limitation: its base is "light woods", so on its own it may read spa rather than hotel; it is at its best alongside a heavier wood. The spa reading of this oil is covered in Buy Spa Fragrance Oils for Candle Making in India.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 gm ₹176.41 ₹3.53 4
100 gm ₹352.82 ₹3.53 8
500 gm ₹1,663.80 ₹3.33 41
1 kg ₹3,327.60 ₹3.33 83
The 15 g costs ₹6.21/g, 76% more per gram than the 50 g. Buy Cucumber Green Tea
3
herbal woody · heart and base · the dry, clean wood
Sage and Cedarwood Fragrance Oil
Sage and cedar is the herbal-woody accord that makes a candle read "grown-up clean" rather than "fresh". The page describes "Herbaceous sage with warm, woody cedar undertones" and states "Recommended Fragrance Load: Up to 10% for soy wax Up to 6% for paraffin wax". It is the natural partner to Cucumber Green Tea or Bergamot Amber in a two-scent launch. Limitation: there is no 15 g size, so 50 g is the smallest buy, and its 1 kg is priced higher per gram than its 500 g (see the per-gram section).
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
50 gm ₹354.00 ₹7.08 4
100 gm ₹696.20 ₹6.96 8
500 gm ₹2,584.20 ₹5.17 41
1 kg ₹6,867.60 ₹6.87 83
500 g is the cheapest per gram at ₹5.17; the 1 kg is ₹6.87. Buy Sage and Cedarwood
4
woody · base · the creamy anchor
Sandalwood Fragrance Oil | Candle Fragrances
A single-note wood: the page calls it a "warm, creamy, luxurious single-note sandalwood fragrance oil with a smooth woody aroma and subtle earthy undertone" and states "Recommended load up to 10% for soy, up to 6% for paraffin". It has no top of its own, which is the point: it is the base you pour beside a bright oil in a collection, or the oil for the calm, "suite at night" candle. Limitation: alone, it reads "sandalwood candle", not "hotel"; it needs a bright partner in the range.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 gm ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 gm ₹502.68 ₹5.03 8
500 gm ₹2,513.40 ₹5.03 41
1 kg ₹5,026.80 ₹5.03 83
Flat at ₹5.03/g from 100 g upward: 500 g and 1 kg save nothing more per gram. Buy Sandalwood
5
oud / oriental · all three roles · the evening scent
White Royal Oud
A soft, polished oud for the evening end of a hotel-style line. Stated notes: "bergamot and saffron top notes, white royal oud, rose petals, and labdanum middle notes, and creamy sandalwood, ambergris, and soft musk base". The page states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles" and describes the product as "IFRA-certified" (that is the page's wording; ask for the documentation on WhatsApp). It is the priciest of the five and the one to test last. Limitation: oud divides people. Test it on someone who is not you before it becomes a hero.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15gm ₹130.00 ₹8.67 1
50gm ₹420.00 ₹8.40 4
100gm ₹810.00 ₹8.10 8
500gm ₹4,051.00 ₹8.10 41
1kg ₹8,103.00 ₹8.10 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹100.80 at 50 g, ₹97.24 at 1 kg — the dearest of the five. Buy White Royal Oud
Only buying two? Bergamot Amber plus Sage and Cedarwood: ₹634.00 for 100 g. Only three? Add Cucumber Green Tea for ₹176.41, total ₹810.41.

Per-gram prices by size: where bigger is not cheaper

Every listed size of the five, priced on 24 September 2026, in rupees per gram; all are in stock at every size. The full ladder for every hotel-style oil, with reorder advice, is in Hotel-Inspired Candle Fragrance Oils Wholesale in India; this table is only for your first buy.

Cucumber Green Tea ₹6.21 ₹3.53 ₹3.53 ₹3.33 ₹3.33 5.7% cheaper
Sage and Cedarwood not listed ₹7.08 ₹6.96 ₹5.17 ₹6.87 1 kg dearer than 500 g
Sandalwood ₹6.21 ₹5.43 ₹5.03 ₹5.03 ₹5.03 7.4% cheaper
White Royal Oud ₹8.67 ₹8.40 ₹8.10 ₹8.10 ₹8.10 3.5% cheaper

Three things the table tells you

1. The 15 g is the expensive size, sometimes very. Cucumber Green Tea costs ₹6.21 per gram at 15 g and ₹3.53 at 50 g: the small bottle is 76% dearer per gram. You pay ₹93.22 for 15 g or ₹176.41 for 50 g — less than double the money for more than three times the oil. On every oil here, the 15 g only makes sense if you are smelling from the bottle to rule oils out.

2. After 100 g, most of these are close to flat. Sandalwood and White Royal Oud are priced the same per gram at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg. Bergamot Amber moves from ₹5.60 to ₹5.44. In candle terms, the 1 kg of Bergamot Amber puts ₹65.24 of oil in an 8% candle against ₹67.20 at the 50 g price: a saving of ₹1.96 per candle. We sell the 1 kg. For your first order, don't buy it. A saving of ₹1.96 a candle does not justify a kilogram of an oil you have not burned.

3. Sage and Cedarwood's 1 kg is dearer per gram than its 500 g. On 24 September 2026 the 500 g is ₹2,584.20 (₹5.17/g) and the 1 kg is ₹6,867.60 (₹6.87/g) — 33% more per gram. Two 500 g packs cost ₹5,168.40, which is ₹1,699.20 less than one 1 kg. In an 8% candle that is ₹62.02 of oil at the 500 g price against ₹82.41 at the 1 kg. If you reach the point of ordering a kilogram, ask us on WhatsApp first.

Mistake: buying 1 kg of your favourite-smelling oil "to save money" before testing. Fix: buy 50 g, pour three candles, then buy 500 g of the winner. On Bergamot Amber the 500 g and 1 kg cost the same per gram (₹5.44), so the 500 g gives you the bulk price with half the exposure: ₹2,718.00 for 41 candles' worth, not ₹5,437.00 for 83.

The first-order basket, with exact totals

The cheapest order is not the 15 g one. It is the one that answers your question the first time.

Three sensible ways to start, differing in what they can prove. A 15 g bottle is one 8% candle: it tells you whether you like an oil, not what load it wants.

Three sample routes for the same five oils
15 g, 50 g or 100 g: what each route costs and what it can prove
Route What you buy Oil total Oil Per gram What it can prove
1 · Smell first 15 g of four oils + 50 g Sage and Cedarwood (no 15 g listed) ₹775.46 110 g ₹7.05 Cold sniff and one 8% candle per oil. No load comparison.
2 · Three-load test (our pick) 50 g of each of the five ₹1,501.81 250 g ₹6.01 6%, 8% and 10% of every oil, plus one retest candle each.
3 · Early commitment 100 g of each of the five ₹2,921.70 500 g ₹5.84 Eight candles per oil, most of them of oils you may drop.

Route 2 costs ₹726.35 more than Route 1 for 140 g more oil: ₹5.19 per extra gram, and the difference between "I like it" and "I know it works at 8%". Route 3 doubles the spend again for oil you do not yet need. Route 1 suits narrowing down ten or more candidates; with five, it is a false economy.

The full basket for 20 test candles

Three loads per oil is 15 candles; one retest per oil at your chosen load makes 20. Each 150 g candle needs 9 g, 12 g or 15 g of oil, and 141 g, 138 g or 135 g of wax, at 6%, 8% and 10% of total weight.

The non-oil lines add up to ₹3,628.20. On wax: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is priced at ₹0.52 per gram in the 500 g bag and ₹0.51 per gram at 1 kg, 5 kg (₹2,537.00) and 10 kg (₹5,074.00) alike. No saving from the 10 kg, so buy three 1 kg bags. CSI 464's stated ceiling is 10%, the same as every oil's page maximum here; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (1 kg ₹599.00) allow 13%, headroom these oils cannot use. Production wax choice is covered in Premium Hotel Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles.

Wick check
The C1 thin wick is a starting point, not a prescription; the right wick depends on the jar's inside diameter and the oil. If the melt pool has not reached the glass edge after two to three hours on your 8% candles, retest with Thick (C2), ₹94.40 for 10 (₹9.44 each). Wick and melt pool are covered in Strong Hotel-Inspired Fragrance Oils for Candle Making.

What one candle costs, and what it will cost later

Worked example, Bergamot Amber at 8% in the 150 g clear jar: 12 g of oil at the 50 g price (₹67.20) + 138 g of CSI 464 (₹70.02) + one jar from the pack of 10 (₹94.40) + one C1 wick (₹5.90) = ₹237.52. Put the same oil in at the 1 kg price and the candle is ₹235.57. Both figures exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. The difference between them is the ₹1.96 above, which is why the jar, not the oil size, is the first place to look when you come to price a range; the full cost-to-retail picture is in Hotel Fragrance Oils for Luxury Candles.

The test plan, step by step

Twenty candles answering three questions per oil: do you like it, what is the lowest load that performs, and which role does it fill. You need a scale reading to 1 g, a thermometer and a notebook.

1
Weigh by total weight, not by volumeLoad is a percentage of the finished candle. For a 150 g candle: 6% = 9 g oil + 141 g wax; 8% = 12 g + 138 g; 10% = 15 g + 135 g. Weigh the oil into the jug on the scale; do not use a measuring spoon. Across five oils that is 180 g of oil and 2,070 g of wax for the fifteen load candles.
2
Label before you pourWrite oil, load, wick and date on each jar before filling.
3
Follow the wax page for temperatures, and keep them identicalUse the temperatures on the wax's product page, identical for all fifteen candles.
4
Cure all fifteen for the same timeBergamot Amber's page states a 48–72 hour cure; the other four pages do not state one. Cure every candle for at least 72 hours, and in our judgement a week is fairer to the woods and musks. Never compare a three-day-old candle with a seven-day-old one.
5
Cold sniff, blindLids off, labels hidden, have someone else hand them to you. Score each 1–5 on three lines: bright top recognisable, clean heart recognisable, warm base recognisable. This is where you learn whether Cucumber Green Tea reads "hotel" or "spa" to you.
6
Burn one at a time, in the same roomOne candle per session, same room, door closed, for two to three hours. Note what you smell from the doorway at 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours, and whether the base is still there after you blow it out. Note soot and melt pool; air the room between sessions.
7
Decide: lowest passing load, then a roleFor each oil, keep the lowest load that scored well at the doorway. On Bergamot Amber at the 1 kg price, 10% instead of 8% costs ₹16.31 more oil per candle. Then give each surviving oil a role: signature (full structure), fresh (top-led), or evening (base-led). Pour the retest candle at the chosen load to confirm before you buy 500 g.
A quick scoring sheet
Five columns: oil, load, cold-sniff total (out of 15), doorway score at 1 hour (1–5), base still present after blow-out (yes/no). The oil you reorder is the one with the highest doorway score at the lowest load, not the one you liked best from the bottle.
Mistake: assuming the maximum load is the best load. Fix: the page's upper figure (10% on all five of these) is a ceiling, not a target, and CSI 464's own ceiling is also 10%. A 10% candle that smells harsh or soots has failed, even though it is "stronger". Test 6%, 8% and 10%, and let the doorway decide.

What CSI does not have, and what not to buy yet

A hub page that only tells you what to buy is an advertisement. Here is the other half.

Gaps in the range

No "hotel" oil, and no oil that reproduces any specific hotel's scent. No white tea, no fresh linen, no clean cotton or laundry oil is listed on 24 September 2026. The nearest fresh options are Cucumber Green Tea and Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil (sea salt, ozone, jasmine, driftwood, musk); if a linen note is central to your plan, ask on WhatsApp rather than buying around the gap, and see Buy Clean Fragrance Oils for Candle Making in India. Leather is available only through the listing named "Tomford Ombre Leather Inspired Fragrance Oil" — that is CSI's product listing name; the oil is CSI's interpretation and CSI is not affiliated with the brand, so never put the brand name on your own label. On 24 September 2026 only its 50 g is in stock (₹667.00, ₹13.34/g); the 100 g and 1 kg are out of stock.

Good oils we would still leave out of round one

Hotel-adjacent oils to test in round two, or not at all
Oil Why not in the first order Stock / price fact
Santal Noir Notes fit well (creamy sandalwood, cedar, amber, musk), but the page states no candle load. In stock; ₹9.98/g at 50 g, 84% more than Sandalwood's ₹5.43. Oil per 8% candle: ₹119.76.
MAHOGANY TEAKWOOD Bath and Body Works Inspired Fragrance Oil A strong woody-aromatic contender. That is CSI's listing name; the oil is an interpretation, CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and the brand stays off your label. No 15 g. In stock; flat ₹8.80/g at every size from 50 g to 1 kg. Page states "Extremely strong hot throw in soy wax at 7-9%".
Grapefruit Oleo Perfume-grade: its 25%/20%/15% figures are perfume rates, not candle loads; no candle load stated. Only the 100 g is in stock (₹341.00). The 50 g and 1 kg are out of stock on 24 September 2026.
Orange no.3 Layered orange over amber, cedar and white musk. Perfume-grade; no candle load stated. Listed at 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg only (no 15 g or 500 g); ₹8.04/g at 50 g.
Vetiver Fragrance Oil Smoky rather than clean; a darker-line base for round two. 1 kg out of stock on 24 September 2026. The 15 g is ₹12.51/g, 77% more than the 50 g (₹7.08).
Saffron Cedarwood Citrus, cardamom, saffron and smoky amber: more "Indian luxury" than lobby. No candle load stated. In stock. Its 15 g (₹6.92/g) is cheaper per gram than its 50 g (₹7.08/g), and its 1 kg (₹6.87/g) is dearer than its 500 g (₹5.17/g).
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil Reads spa or beach more than hotel, in our judgement; worth one test if your brand leans fresh. In stock. Bigger is not cheaper: ₹4.94/g at 50 g, ₹4.96/g at 1 kg.
Neroli Fragrance Oil and Verbena Bright tops for round two, once your base is chosen. Both in stock at all sizes. Verbena's 1 kg (₹4.72/g) is 29% cheaper per gram than its 50 g (₹6.61).

Fully out of stock on 24 September 2026, so do not plan around them: Regal Royal Oud, Frankincense and Tonka, the Acqua Di Gio-inspired listing and Baccarat Rouge 540 (both CSI listing names; CSI is not affiliated with either brand).

Argued against our own interest: most brand-inspired and perfume-grade oils cost more per gram than the candle-grade shortlist. White Royal Oud at ₹8.40 is already the dearest of our five at 50 g; the brand-inspired listings sold in 50 g run from ₹6.98 (the Forever Red listing) to ₹24.06 per gram at that size, and all but that one cost more per gram than White Royal Oud. The perfume-grade pages quote usage rates of 15–25%, which are not candle loads. For a first hotel-style order, the candle-grade oils with a stated candle load are the better-evidenced buy.

The CSI principle
Buy grams to learn, kilograms to sell.
A 50 g bottle is information; a 1 kg bottle is inventory. On this shortlist the per-gram gap between them is a few rupees a candle, while the cost of a kilogram you do not like is the whole kilogram.
"A hotel-style candle is a structure, not a name. Buy the structure in 50 g bottles, and the name is yours to write."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the oils, wax, jars and wicks named here, and does not sell finished candles. We have tried to write this page the way we would advise a friend: it tells you to buy smaller sizes than we would like to sell, names the oils we would leave out, and states where a larger pack is not cheaper.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Out-of-stock sizes are flagged as out of stock on that date and are never presented as buyable. Candle loads and notes are quoted from each product page; where a page does not state a candle load, we say so.

Scent-role mapping, cure advice, the test method and which oils read "hotel" rather than "spa" are our judgement; CSI has no throw measurements for these oils. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Which fragrance oil smells like a luxury hotel lobby for candles?
No single oil is "the" hotel scent; the style is a bright citrus or tea top, a clean herbal or soft-floral heart, and a woods-musk-amber base. On this shortlist, Bergamot Amber and White Royal Oud list notes in all three roles and carry a warm base, so they are the closest single-bottle starting points; Cucumber Green Tea also lists all three roles, but its base is light musk and woods.
Can I buy a specific hotel's signature scent as a candle fragrance oil in India?
Not from CSI. CSI does not sell any oil that reproduces a specific hotel's scent, and you should not put a real hotel's or perfume house's name on your label. Buy the style: the five oils here cover the bright, clean and warm roles.
Is a 15 g fragrance oil sample enough to test a candle?
Enough to smell and to make one 150 g candle at 8% (12 g of oil), but not enough to compare loads. Testing 6%, 8% and 10% in 150 g candles uses 36 g, so buy 50 g. The 15 g is usually the dearest size per gram: Cucumber Green Tea is ₹6.21/g at 15 g and ₹3.53/g at 50 g.
How much fragrance oil for a 150 g soy candle?
At 8% of total weight, 12 g of oil and 138 g of wax. At 6%, 9 g and 141 g; at 10%, 15 g and 135 g. The lower of the wax's ceiling and the oil page's stated maximum governs: for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and all five oils on this shortlist, that is 10%.
What does it cost to make a hotel-style candle in India?
Worked example: a 150 g Bergamot Amber candle at 8% in CSI 464 soy, a 150 g clear glass jar with golden lid and a C1 eco wick costs ₹237.52 in materials at the 50 g oil price, or ₹235.57 at the 1 kg price. That excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Should I buy 1 kg fragrance oil to save money?
Not for a first order. On the hotel-style shortlist the 1 kg is only 2.9% to 7.4% cheaper per gram than the 50 g — about ₹1.96 per candle on Bergamot Amber — and Sage and Cedarwood's 1 kg is dearer per gram than its 500 g. Buy 50 g to test, then 500 g of the winner.

Per-gram figures are price divided by grams, to two decimals.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); candle counts are whole candles, floor(grams ÷ 12). Wax ceilings: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, as stated by the wax pages; these are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Candle loads, notes and IFRA wording are quoted from each oil's product page. Per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali (8 November 2026) and Christmas (25 December 2026) are calendar dates; seasons are approximate. The scent-role mapping, cure advice and test method are editorial judgement.
