CSI Seasonal Buying · Summer Order
Summer candles are bought in winter. Here is the five-oil summer basket, the sample route that tests it properly, a priced launch order for 106 candles, and the dates that get it on your shelf for April 2027.
₹1,154.93
five summer oils × 50 g — the test set · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
When should I buy fragrance oils for summer candles? Indian summer is roughly April to June. Order a 50 g test set in early January 2027, decide on winners in February, and place the launch order by 1 March 2027 so candles are poured and cured before the first hot week in April.

What goes in a summer basket? Five oils covering citrus, fresh green, juicy citrus, melon and cool mint: Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil, Cucumber Green Tea, Juicy Orange, Honeydew Melon and Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil. All five are in stock at every size on 24 September 2026.

How much does a summer test order cost? The five oils at 50 g cost ₹1,154.93. With 3 kg of wax, 20 jars, 20 wicks and wick stickers, the full test basket is ₹4,783.13: ₹239.16 per test candle, before freight and GST.

And the launch order? After testing, a worked-example launch basket of two 500 g winners plus three 100 g supporting oils, with wax, jars and wicks, makes 106 candles for ₹23,266.22, or ₹219.49 per candle in materials.
The short answer
The timing: test in January, decide in February, order launch sizes by 1 March 2027, pour in March, sell April to June. Reorder only what sells in the first four weeks.
The sample route: 50 g of each oil (₹1,154.93 for five), not 15 g (₹474.10). Three test loads use 36 g of oil; a 15 g bottle makes one candle.
The launch sizes: 500 g of your two best sellers, 100 g of the rest. On Juicy Orange and Eucalyptus Spearmint, check the per-gram table before choosing between 500 g and 1 kg.
The honest part: the jar costs more than the oil in almost every summer candle. Oil is only 20% of the launch basket; jars are 45%.
Buying for summer 2027: the order calendar Indian summer is roughly April to June. Work back from the first hot week, not forward from today. The summer 2027 buying calendar, worked back from the first hot week of April. The only hard date is the launch order by 1 March 2027; everything before it is testing, everything after it is pouring and selling. Monsoon oils take over from roughly June.
Straight answer
I want to sell summer candles from April 2027. What do I buy, in what size, and when?
In early January 2027, buy 50 g each of Citrus Lemon (₹170.00), Cucumber Green Tea (₹176.41), Juicy Orange (₹379.00), Honeydew Melon (₹217.12) and Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹212.40): ₹1,154.93 for 250 g of oil, enough to pour each at 6%, 8% and 10% in a 150 g jar and keep a retest candle. Add 3 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 20 jars and 20 wicks for a ₹4,783.13 test basket. Choose your winners by late February. By 1 March 2027, order 500 g of the two best and 100 g of the others; do not buy 1 kg of anything for a first summer. The ranking of summer oils, and why summer changes what you pour, is in Best Fragrance Oils for Summer Candles in India; this page is about the order.
One line: buy 50 g in January to learn, 500 g in March to sell, and let April's sales decide whether anything deserves a kilogram.
The whole summer test set in one order. Five oils at 50 g, ₹1,154.93, all in stock at every size on 24 September 2026. That is 250 g of oil: three test loads and a retest candle per oil.

The order calendar for summer 2027

Summer candles are bought in winter. By the time it is hot, it is too late to test.

It is 24 September 2026 as we write, and the next Indian summer is roughly April to June 2027. That sounds far away. It is not, because the three months before it hold the main gifting dates of the candle calendar: Diwali on 8 November 2026, Christmas on 25 December 2026 and Valentine's Day on 14 February 2027. If you make seasonal candles, your summer buying has to fit around those. The dates below are calendar facts and our planning suggestion, not forecasts.

Summer 2027 · dated plan
From an empty shelf in January to summer stock in April
By Do this What you spend Why this date
Now to 25 December 2026 Nothing for summer. Sell winter, Diwali and Christmas stock. — Your cash and bench time belong to the peak season (see Buy Winter Candle Fragrance Oils in India)
5 January 2027 Order the five-oil 50 g test set plus wax, jars and wicks ₹4,783.13 Leaves eight weeks to test before the launch order
15 January 2027 Pour 15 load-test candles (6%, 8%, 10% × five oils); start the cure — None of these pages states a cure time; allow at least 7 days
25 January 2027 Cold sniff at day 7–10; begin one-a-day burn tests in a warm room — Room conditions nearer summer give a fairer test
20 February 2027 Choose two hero oils and a load; pour and burn one retest candle each — After Valentine's Day stock has gone out
1 March 2027 Place the launch order (500 g of two heroes, 100 g of three supporting oils, 15 kg wax, 110 jars, 110 wicks) ₹23,266.22 Three to four weeks to pour, cure and photograph
1 April 2027 Summer range on sale — Start of the approximate summer window
25 April – 15 May 2027 Reorder only oils that have sold through; stop reordering by mid-May depends on sales The southwest monsoon arrives roughly in June; see Buy Monsoon-Inspired Candle Fragrance Oils
Mistake: buying summer oils in May because the weather has turned. Fix: a candle ordered, poured and cured in May reaches your shelf for the last few weeks of the season, just as the monsoon begins. If you are reading this in March, compress the plan: buy the 50 g set, test at 8% only with 6% and 10% as spares, and order launch sizes after three weeks instead of eight.

If you run three seasons a year, the full inventory plan with reorder triggers across summer, monsoon and winter is I Want to Launch Different Candle Collections for Summer, Monsoon and Winter — How Should I Plan My Fragrance Oil Inventory?; the batch maths for larger runs is Bulk Seasonal Fragrance Oils for Candle Manufacturers.

The five oils in the summer basket

The basket is built to cover five summer jobs with one oil each, so a single test tells you which direction your customers prefer. It is not a ranking; our ranked best-of for summer, with the reasoning, is Best Fragrance Oils for Summer Candles in India. Each card shows every listed size with stock on 24 September 2026 and how many 150 g candles at 8% each size makes.

1
citrus · job: the summer best-seller candidate · anchor
Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil
The lowest-cost oil in the basket at every size from 50 g up, and the most recognisable summer scent. The page describes "zesty lemon and lime top notes, bright grapefruit and orange heart, and a tangy mandarin finish" and states "candles (6-10%)". It earns its place as the likely volume seller. What to check in your test: the page lists no woods or musk base, so note how long the scent lasts at the doorway, not just how bright it is. Size fact: the 15 g is 60% dearer per gram than the 50 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹81.42 ₹5.43 1
50 g ₹170.00 ₹3.40 4
100 g ₹300.00 ₹3.00 8
500 g ₹1,420.00 ₹2.84 41
1 kg ₹2,832.00 ₹2.83 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹40.80 at 50 g, ₹34.08 at 500 g. Buy Citrus Lemon
2
fresh green · job: the all-day summer candle
Cucumber Green Tea
The basket's calm option: "Top Notes: Crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves | Heart Notes: Delicate jasmine, hints of lemon | Base Notes: Clean musk, light woods". The page says "we recommend using 8-10% fragrance oil per pound of wax"; we treat that as a percentage of total weight and test 6%, 8% and 10%. What to check: whether your buyers read it as summer or as spa. Size fact: 50 g and 100 g are the same per gram (₹3.53), and 500 g and 1 kg are the same per gram (₹3.33).
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹176.41 ₹3.53 4
100 g ₹352.82 ₹3.53 8
500 g ₹1,663.80 ₹3.33 41
1 kg ₹3,327.60 ₹3.33 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹42.34 at 50 g, ₹39.93 at 500 g. Buy Cucumber Green Tea
3
juicy citrus · job: the premium summer candle
Juicy Orange
The basket's upmarket citrus: "Opens with sweet orange, mandarin, and bergamot... Heart of neroli and light jasmine... Base of white musk and soft amber", with a stated candle load: "For candles, use at 8-10% in soy". The page describes it as "IFRA Certified" (that is the page's wording; ask for the documents on WhatsApp). What to check: whether the extra cost shows up at the doorway. At ₹7.58 per gram at 50 g it is more than double Citrus Lemon, so it has to earn a higher shelf price. Size fact: the 500 g and 1 kg cost the same per gram (₹7.50).
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹126.00 ₹8.40 1
50 g ₹379.00 ₹7.58 4
100 g ₹749.00 ₹7.49 8
500 g ₹3,749.00 ₹7.50 41
1 kg ₹7,499.00 ₹7.50 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹90.96 at 50 g, ₹89.98 at 500 g. Buy Juicy Orange
4
melon fruit · job: the gifting and hill-station candle
Honeydew Melon
Summer fruit with a fresh opening: the page describes "crisp cucumber and bright bergamot... juicy honeydew melon and succulent cantaloupe blend harmoniously with green leaves and a hint of strawberry... a base of creamy vanilla and sweet sugar". The page does not state a candle load, so work inside the wax ceiling (up to 10% in CSI 464) and ask on WhatsApp before a production pour. What to check: the vanilla-sugar base at 10%. Size fact: the 100 g (₹4.35/g) is 0.3% dearer per gram than the 50 g (₹4.34/g), while the 500 g is 22.0% cheaper per gram than the 100 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 g ₹217.12 ₹4.34 4
100 g ₹435.42 ₹4.35 8
500 g ₹1,699.20 ₹3.40 41
1 kg ₹3,398.40 ₹3.40 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹52.25 at 100 g, ₹40.78 at 500 g. Buy Honeydew Melon
5
cool mint · job: the "cool down" candle
Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil
The cheapest oil in the basket at 15 g (at 1 kg, Citrus Lemon is cheaper). The page describes it as "combining crisp eucalyptus with cool spearmint" and states "Recommended fragrance load up to 10% for soy wax, up to 6% for paraffin"; it also calls it "IFRA-certified" (page wording). A cool, minty scent is one many people associate with relief from heat. What to check: whether it reads too medicinal in a small room at 10%. Size fact: the 1 kg is 27.8% cheaper per gram than the 50 g, the steepest drop in the basket, and one 1 kg (₹3,068.00) is ₹236.00 cheaper than two 500 g packs.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹68.44 ₹4.56 1
50 g ₹212.40 ₹4.25 4
100 g ₹354.00 ₹3.54 8
500 g ₹1,652.00 ₹3.30 41
1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹3.07 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹50.98 at 50 g, ₹36.82 at 1 kg. Buy Eucalyptus Spearmint
Only three oils in your budget? Citrus Lemon, Cucumber Green Tea and Eucalyptus Spearmint at 50 g cost ₹558.81. They cover bright, calm and cool, and all three state a candle load. Add the fruits in your second summer.

Three sample routes, priced

The cheapest first order is the one you do not have to repeat.

Three ways to buy the same five oils, differing in what they can prove. A 150 g candle at 8% uses 12 g of oil; testing three loads uses 36 g.

Summer sample routes · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
15 g, 50 g or 100 g of the same five oils
Route What you buy Oil total Oil Average per gram What it can prove
A · Smell first 15 g of each ₹474.10 75 g ₹6.32 Cold sniff and one 8% candle per oil. No load comparison.
B · Three-load test (our pick) 50 g of each ₹1,154.93 250 g ₹4.62 6%, 8% and 10% for every oil, plus a retest candle each
C · Early commitment 100 g of each ₹2,191.24 500 g ₹4.38 Eight candles per oil, most of them of oils you may drop

Route B costs ₹680.83 more than Route A for 175 g more oil, which is ₹3.89 per extra gram. That buys the difference between "I like the smell" and "I know it works at 8%". Route C costs a further ₹1,036.31 for oil you do not yet need. Route A only makes sense if you are narrowing ten or more candidates down to five by smell alone.

Argued against our own interest: we would sell you more oil on Route C. Don't take it. For a summer range, the useful information comes from comparing loads and burning in warm rooms, and Route B gives you all of it for less.

The test basket, line by line

Fifteen load-test candles (three per oil) plus five retests make twenty. At 6%, 8% and 10% of a 150 g candle, the wax per candle is 141 g, 138 g and 135 g, which comes to about 2.76 kg for twenty.

Summer test basket · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Everything for 20 summer test candles: ₹4,783.13

Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil 50 g ₹212.40 as above
Oils subtotal 250 g ₹1,154.93
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 3 × 1 kg ₹1,522.20 2.76 kg needed; the 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg cost the same per gram
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) Pack of 20 ₹1,888.00 ₹94.40 per jar
Eco Candle Wicks, Thin (C1) 20 wicks ₹118.00 ₹5.90 per wick; a starting point, not a prescription
Candle Wick Stickers 1 sheet, 40 ₹100.00 20 spare for the launch
Basket total 20 candles ₹4,783.13 ₹239.16 per test candle

The non-oil items come to ₹3,628.20; oil is only 24% of the test basket. Two choices to make here. First, the wax: CSI 464's stated ceiling is 10%, which is also the top of every stated load in this basket, so the 13% ceiling of Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (1 kg ₹650.00) or Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (1 kg ₹599.00) buys no extra headroom for these oils. Second, the wick: C1 is where to start. If the melt pool has not reached the glass edge after two to three hours, retest with Thick (C2), ₹94.40 for 10, from the Candle Wicks collection.

Test in the season you sell in
January is cool in most of India, and a candle tested in a cool room will read stronger and sweeter in a warm one. Run at least one burn per oil in the warmest room you have, with the fan off, and one in a closed AC room if that is where your buyers burn. The full summer test method is in the ranking guide.

The launch basket: 106 candles, priced

This is a worked example. Your heroes may differ; the method will not.

Assume your test picks Citrus Lemon and Cucumber Green Tea as heroes and keeps the other three as supporting scents. 500 g of oil at 8% makes 41 candles of 150 g; 100 g makes 8. That gives 41 + 41 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 106 candles. Wax: 106 × 138 g is 14.63 kg, so 10 kg + 5 kg of CSI 464.

Summer launch basket · worked example

Eco Candle Wicks, Thin (C1) pack of 100 + pack of 10 ₹649.00 110 wicks
Launch total ₹23,266.22 ₹219.49 per candle

Look at where the money goes: the jars are 45% of the basket and the oils 20%. For a single candle, worked example Cucumber Green Tea at 8%: 12 g of oil at the 500 g price (₹39.93) + 138 g of CSI 464 at the 10 kg price (₹70.02) + one jar from a pack of 20 (₹94.40) + one C1 wick from the pack of 100 (₹5.90) = ₹210.25. That excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST. If you want to cut the cost of a summer candle, the vessel is the lever, not a bigger bottle of oil. How to price the finished candle is outside this page; the three-season collection kits are in Seasonal Fragrance Oil Collection for Candle Businesses.

Mistake: ordering 1 kg of both heroes "because it is cheaper". Fix: on Citrus Lemon the 1 kg is barely cheaper per gram than the 500 g (₹2.83 against ₹2.84), and on Cucumber Green Tea it is the same (₹3.33), and 1 kg of each (₹6,159.60) would make 166 candles of two scents before you know which one sells. Two 500 g packs (₹3,083.80) carry you into late April with room to reorder the winner.

Which size of each oil to reorder

Reorders are where size matters, and the five oils behave differently. Per-gram prices on 24 September 2026; every size in stock.

Per gram by size · the five summer basket oils
Where bigger saves, and where it stops saving
Oil 15 g 50 g 100 g 500 g 1 kg Reorder size
Citrus Lemon ₹5.43 ₹3.40 ₹3.00 ₹2.84 ₹2.83 500 g (16.5% below 50 g); 1 kg saves almost nothing more
Cucumber Green Tea ₹6.21 ₹3.53 ₹3.53 ₹3.33 ₹3.33 500 g (5.7% below 50 g); 1 kg the same per gram
Juicy Orange ₹8.40 ₹7.58 ₹7.49 ₹7.50 ₹7.50 100 g to 500 g; 500 g only 1.1% below 50 g
Honeydew Melon ₹7.00 ₹4.34 ₹4.35 ₹3.40 ₹3.40 500 g once proven; skip the 100 g
Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹4.56 ₹4.25 ₹3.54 ₹3.30 ₹3.07 1 kg if it sells (27.8% below 50 g)

Three patterns. On Citrus Lemon and Cucumber Green Tea the saving stops at 500 g. On Juicy Orange there is almost no saving at any size above 50 g: the 15 g is 11% dearer per gram than the 50 g, and after that the price is close to flat. Eucalyptus Spearmint is the one oil in this basket where the 1 kg is clearly the cheapest per gram. Wholesale ladders for every seasonal oil are in Wholesale Seasonal Candle Fragrance Oils in India.

How to place the order

Six steps from basket to dispatch. Most of them take a minute; skipping them is what causes a missed launch.

1
Check stock by size on the day you orderStock changes. Every size of these five oils was in stock on 24 September 2026; confirm on the product pages or on WhatsApp before you promise a date to a stockist.
2
Order oils, wax, jars and wicks togetherOne order means one delivery and one set of freight. Delivery time depends on your location, so ask for the dispatch date when you order.
3
Ask for a GST invoice if you are registeredA GST invoice is available. Ask for it with the order, not afterwards.
4
Ask for MSDS and IFRA documentationDocuments are available on request on WhatsApp. If you sell to shops, hotels or corporate buyers, get them before the launch, not when a buyer asks.
5
Label every bottle with the date it arrivedYou will be comparing a January test bottle with a March launch bottle; note both dates on your batch sheet.
6
Set your reorder rule before you sellDecide now: any oil that sells half its launch candles by 25 April gets a 500 g reorder; anything slower waits for next summer. Stop reordering summer oils by mid-May.
Launch order by 1 March 2027. Summer runs roughly April to June. Message us in February with your two heroes and we will quote 500 g and 1 kg with a GST invoice and a dispatch date.

The CSI principle
Buy the season before the season.
A summer range is decided in January and ordered in March. What you buy in April is a reorder, and what you buy in May is next year's stock.
"Fifty grams in January tells you more about your summer than a kilogram in April."
— CandleMakingSuppliesIndia

Monsoon follows summer: the monsoon buying guide is Buy Monsoon-Inspired Candle Fragrance Oils, and which oils can carry from summer into monsoon is in Which Fragrance Oils Should a Candle Brand Stock for Summer, Monsoon and Winter?.

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil, wax, jar and wick in these baskets, and does not sell finished candles. This page tells you to buy 50 g rather than 100 g, to skip the 1 kg for a first summer, and that the jar, not the oil, is the biggest cost in your candle.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. All five basket oils were in stock at every size on that date; out-of-stock items elsewhere on the site are not offered here. Candle loads and notes are quoted from each product page; Honeydew Melon's page does not state a candle load, and we say so.

The calendar, the choice of five oils, the launch split and the reorder rule are our judgement and worked examples, not sales data. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

When should I buy fragrance oils for summer candles in India?
Indian summer is roughly April to June. Order a 50 g test set in early January 2027, choose winners by late February and place the launch order by 1 March 2027, so candles are poured and cured before April.
How much does it cost to start a summer candle range?
Worked example with CSI prices on 24 September 2026: a five-oil 50 g test set is ₹1,154.93; with wax, 20 jars and wicks the test basket is ₹4,783.13. A launch basket for 106 candles is ₹23,266.22, about ₹219.49 per candle in materials, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Should I buy 15 g or 50 g fragrance oil samples?
50 g. A 15 g bottle makes one 150 g candle at 8%, and testing 6%, 8% and 10% needs 36 g. The five summer oils cost ₹474.10 at 15 g and ₹1,154.93 at 50 g, and the 15 g is the dearest size per gram on every one of them.
Is 1 kg fragrance oil cheaper than 500 g?

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); candle counts are floor(grams ÷ 12). Wax ceilings (CSI 464 up to 10%, CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%) are as stated on the wax pages and are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Basket and per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Dates (Diwali 8 November 2026, Christmas 25 December 2026, Valentine's Day 14 February 2027) are calendar facts; summer (roughly April–June) and the southwest monsoon (roughly June–September) are approximate. The order calendar, the launch split and the reorder rule are editorial judgement.
