Candle Fragrance Oil Starter Kit in India
Share
What does a complete starter kit cost to build? ₹4,429.20 for 12 candles of 200 g: four oils at 50 g (₹926.20), 2.5 kg of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹1,497.00), 20 Eco Thin C1 wicks (₹118.00), 15 White Matte Glass Jars (₹1,062.00), centring devices (₹118.00), a scale and a thermometer (₹708.00).
What is the cheapest version? A lean bill of ₹2,933.40 covers two scents and six candles with the same tools. The tools are ₹826.00 of it, and you only buy them once.
What does each candle cost from the kit? The materials that go into each candle cost about ₹261.01 on average across the four oils. The first bill works out higher per candle, ₹300.27, because you buy more wax, wicks and jars than 12 candles use. See cost per candle.
The starter bill, line by line
First, the plain fact: CSI does not sell a fragrance starter kit, and it does not sell a fragrance combo or sample pack either. What it lists is every item a starter kit contains, each at its own price. That turns out to be useful. A boxed kit decides the scents, the quantities and the tools for you. A bill you build yourself can be sized to a real first batch, and every line of it is a product you can reorder on its own later.
The bill below is built for a first run of 12 container candles of 200 g each, at an 8% fragrance load. That means 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax per candle. Twelve is enough to test four scents properly (three candles each: one to burn, one to cure longer, one to give away for feedback) without buying production quantities of anything.
| Line | What to buy | Qty | Line total | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fragrance oil | Jasmine 50 g | 1 | ₹230.00 | 3 candles (48 g) |
| Fragrance oil | Cinnamon Vanilla 50 g | 1 | ₹271.40 | 3 candles (48 g) |
| Fragrance oil | Eucalyptus Spearmint 50 g | 1 | ₹212.40 | 3 candles (48 g) |
| Fragrance oil | Fresh Strawberries 50 g | 1 | ₹212.40 | 3 candles (48 g) |
| Wax | Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 1 kg + 500 g | 2 + 1 | ₹1,497.00 | 2,208 g needed, 2,500 g bought |
| Wicks | Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1, pack of 10 | 2 | ₹118.00 | 12 candles + 8 spare |
| Jars | White Matte Glass Jar, pack of 5 | 3 | ₹1,062.00 | 12 candles + 3 spare |
| Tool | Wick Centering Device, pack of 5 | 1 | ₹118.00 | Reusable |
| Tool | Candle Making Weighing Scale | 1 | ₹354.00 | Reusable |
| Tool | Pen Thermometer | 1 | ₹354.00 | Reusable |
| Total | ₹4,429.20 | Consumables ₹3,603.20 · tools ₹826.00 |
Each price is the listed price for that item. The oils and wax are CSI live pricing pulled on 24 September 2026. The wicks, jars and tools are the figures verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Nothing here is a bundle price, because there is no bundle. That also means nothing is hidden: if you swap Jasmine for another floral, the bill changes by exactly the difference between the two 50 g prices.
How each quantity was worked out
Every number in the bill comes from the same candle: 200 g total weight, 8% fragrance. Here is the arithmetic, so you can redo it for your own jar size or load.
The same method scales to any first batch. Change the candle weight or the load and re-run the lines. At a 6% load the same 200 g candle takes 12 g of oil and 188 g of wax. At 10% it takes 20 g and 180 g. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% by the wax maker, and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Those are formulation maximums, not regulatory limits, and more oil does not automatically mean more scent. For the quantity maths at production scale, see How Much Fragrance Oil Do I Need for 100 Candles?.
Lean, standard and stretch
Not everyone needs the same first order. The table below prices three versions of the kit. All three include the same tools (₹826.00). The lean bill is for someone who wants to learn the process on two scents before spending more. The standard bill is the one above. The stretch bill is for someone who already knows they will sell their first batch, and wants six scents at 100 g, where most oils cost the same per gram as the kilo.
| Lean | Standard | Stretch | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scents | Jasmine, Eucalyptus Spearmint | Jasmine, Cinnamon Vanilla, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Fresh Strawberries | The standard four + Gardenia and Orchard Pear |
| Oil | 2 × 50 g · ₹442.40 | 4 × 50 g · ₹926.20 | 6 × 100 g · ₹2,458.40 |
| Wax (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) | 1 kg + 500 g · ₹898.00 | 2 × 1 kg + 500 g · ₹1,497.00 | 5 kg + 2 × 1 kg · ₹4,193.00 |
| Wicks (Eco Thin C1) | 10 · ₹59.00 | 20 · ₹118.00 | 50 · ₹295.00 |
| Jars (White Matte, packs of 5) | 10 · ₹708.00 | 15 · ₹1,062.00 | 40 · ₹2,832.00 |
| Tools (centring devices, scale, thermometer) | ₹826.00 | ₹826.00 | ₹826.00 |
| Candles at 200 g, 8% | 6 | 12 | 36 |
| Total bill | ₹2,933.40 | ₹4,429.20 | ₹10,604.40 |
| Bill per candle made | ₹488.90 | ₹369.10 | ₹294.57 |
The last row shows why the lean kit feels expensive: ₹488.90 per candle, because the tools are spread over only six candles. The stretch kit brings the bill down to ₹294.57 per candle. That is not a discount. Almost every line is priced flat per unit or per kilo. It is the fixed tools being spread over more candles, plus the 100 g oils being cheaper per gram than 50 g for some of the six. Jasmine drops from ₹4.60 to ₹4.30 a gram. Eucalyptus Spearmint drops from ₹4.25 to ₹3.54. Cinnamon Vanilla drops from ₹5.43 to ₹4.84.
What each candle costs from the kit
There are two honest ways to state the cost per candle, and a starter kit needs both. The bill per candle divides the whole first order by the candles made. For the standard kit that is ₹369.10 including tools, or ₹300.27 for consumables alone. It is high because you buy whole packs: 2.5 kg of wax for 2,208 g of pour, 20 wicks for 12 candles, 15 jars for 12. The material cost per candle counts only what goes into one candle. That is the number to price against, because the leftovers carry into your next batch.
| Scent | ₹/g at 50 g | Oil (16 g) | Wax (184 g) | Wick + jar | Material cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jasmine | ₹4.60 | ₹73.60 | ₹110.22 | ₹76.70 | ₹260.52 |
| Cinnamon Vanilla | ₹5.43 | ₹86.85 | ₹110.22 | ₹76.70 | ₹273.76 |
| Eucalyptus Spearmint | ₹4.25 | ₹67.97 | ₹110.22 | ₹76.70 | ₹254.88 |
| Fresh Strawberries | ₹4.25 | ₹67.97 | ₹110.22 | ₹76.70 | ₹254.88 |
Across the four scents the average is ₹261.01. Material cost here excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The jar, at ₹70.80, costs about as much as the fragrance: more than the oil for Eucalyptus Spearmint and Fresh Strawberries, less than it for Jasmine and Cinnamon Vanilla. That matters for pricing, because the container is a cost line as large as the scent and deserves the same scrutiny. Fragrance is still the line to watch as you add scents, because oils range from ₹2.83 to ₹24.06 a gram at 1 kg across the catalogue. Best Fragrance Oil Combo for Starting a Candle Business works through that spread.
Here are the four oils in the standard kit, each with every listed size, so you can see where your reorder will sit.

CSI's candle-making kits, and how they differ
CSI does list candle-making kits. They are separate products from anything on this page, and they are not fragrance starter kits. The data behind this series does not publish their fragrance contents, so this page does not say which oils, if any, they contain, or in what quantities. Here they are by name and listed price.
| Kit | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Scented Jar Candle Making Kit For Beginners | ₹555.78 |
| Aroma Wax Sachet Making Kit | ₹554.60 |
| Aroma Candles Making Kit (ACM) | ₹1,770.00 |
| Candle Making Kit for Beginners | ₹4,130.00 |
| Professional Candle Making Course (PCM Kit) | ₹4,245.64 |
| Designer Candle Making Kit (DCM Kit) | ₹4,842.72 |
| Complete Candle Making Course Kit for Beginners | ₹6,741.34 |
The difference is what you know when you buy. The self-built bill on this page is itemised: you can see the grams of each oil, the kilos of wax and the count of wicks and jars, and you can reorder any line on its own. If a guided kit or course suits how you want to learn, open its product page and read what it includes before you order, or ask CSI on WhatsApp. Do not assume a kit contains a particular scent or quantity. For why building your own combo usually beats a fixed one, see Candle Fragrance Oil Combo Pack in India.
Ordering it in one go
Everything in the standard bill is on the same store, so it can go into one cart and one order. Collections to work through: Fragrance Oils for the four oils, Candle Wax for the soy wax, Candle Wicks, Containers and Accessories for the centring devices, scale and thermometer. If you need a GST invoice in your business name, or want CSI to check stock on every line before you pay, send the bill on WhatsApp.
After the first batch, the reorder is simpler than the kit. You already own the tools. You probably have wax, wicks and a few jars left. What you need is more of the scents that worked, at 100 g or larger, and more jars. Complete Candle Fragrance Oil Starter Collection for New Brands sets out a reorder plan for a small range, and How to Set Reorder Levels for Candle Fragrance Oils covers reorder levels once you are selling steadily.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We do not sell a fragrance starter kit, and this page says so first. It then builds one from the items we do sell and tells you, against our own interest, that the biggest version is the wrong first order for most people.
Oil and wax prices on this page come from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick, jar and tool prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. The candle-making kits are listed by name and price only; their contents are not published in our data and are not described. Every bill total, per-gram figure and per-candle cost is plain arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals.
The 12-candle batch, the 200 g candle, the 8% load and the 5% wax allowance are working assumptions, not a recipe. Your jar, wick and wax decide your real quantities. For a quote on the full bill, a GST invoice, or MSDS and IFRA documentation for the oils, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Material cost per candle = oil at the 50 g rate + 184 g Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 / kg (₹110.22) + ₹5.90 wick + ₹70.80 jar; it excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. 1 kg-vs-100 g savings quoted (Jasmine 8.8%, Cinnamon Vanilla 5.9%, Eucalyptus Spearmint 13.3%) are from the full catalogue comparison.
