Commercial Fragrance · Business Combo
CSI does not sell a fragrance combo for new businesses. The combo worth building is the one that protects your margin: scents sorted into cost bands by what they put into each candle, so you can price the range before you pour it.
₹4,106.00
an eight-oil opening combo at 100 g each — three entry, three core, two premium · 800 g of oil, 48 candles of 200 g at 8% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell a fragrance combo for starting a candle business? No. CSI lists no business combo, fragrance combo pack or starter kit of fragrance. You build the combo from single oils; CSI will quote it with a GST invoice on WhatsApp.

What is the best fragrance combo for a new candle business? One built in cost bands: three entry oils (under ₹4.00 a gram), three core (₹4.00–₹6.00) and two premium (over ₹6.00). The eight on this page cost ₹4,106.00 at 100 g each.

What does each candle cost to make? For a 200 g candle at 8%: ₹247.56 in the entry band, ₹265.32 in core and ₹306.84 in premium, on average. That is oil, wax, wick and jar only.

Why sort scents into bands? So every scent on a price list earns a similar margin. At an illustrative ₹699 selling price, materials are 35.4% of the price for an entry candle and 43.9% for a premium one. See margin at three prices.
The short answer
Plainly: CSI sells no business fragrance combo. You build one from single oils; volume pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp and no discount figure is published.
The eight: Entry: Orchard Pear, Royal Apricot, Roasted Coffee · Core: Jasmine, Mango Coconut, Lavender · Premium: Raat Ki Rani, Midnight Bakhoor Royale — ₹4,106.00 at 100 g each.
Bands: Material cost per 200 g candle: entry ₹247.56 · core ₹265.32 · premium ₹306.84. Blended over a 30/20/10 month: ₹263.36. Price per candle explains the method.

The pale block is the same in every band: 184 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, one Eco Thin C1 wick and one White Matte Glass Jar, ₹186.92. Only the dark block, the oil, changes. Across the three bands the oil moves the candle's material cost by ₹59.28. The price lines are illustrative, not recommendations.
Straight answer
What is the best fragrance oil combo for starting a candle business, and is there a ready-made one?
CSI does not sell a ready-made fragrance combo for new businesses, and it lists no combo pack, sample pack or fragrance starter kit. You build the combo from single oils, and for a business the right way to build it is by margin, not by favourite scent. Sort every candidate into a band by what its oil puts into one candle. On this page a 200 g candle at 8% holds 16 g of oil, and the bands are entry (under ₹4.00 a gram, under ₹64.00 of oil per candle), core (₹4.00–₹6.00) and premium (over ₹6.00). An opening combo of three entry oils (Orchard Pear, Royal Apricot, Roasted Coffee), three core (Jasmine, Mango Coconut, Lavender) and two premium (Raat Ki Rani, Midnight Bakhoor Royale) costs ₹4,106.00 at 100 g each and makes 48 candles. The material cost per candle averages ₹247.56, ₹265.32 and ₹306.84 across the three bands. Price each band separately, or set one price against the premium band, and you know your margin on every scent before you pour it.
One line: sort scents by what they cost in the candle, then put a price on each band — not on each scent.
The eight-oil opening combo at 100 g each: Orchard Pear ₹380.00, Royal Apricot ₹367.00, Roasted Coffee ₹390.00, Jasmine ₹430.00, Mango Coconut ₹500.00, Lavender ₹540.00, Raat Ki Rani ₹700.00 and Midnight Bakhoor Royale ₹799.00. That is ₹4,106.00 for 800 g, six candles per scent.

Why a business combo starts with cost bands

A hobbyist chooses scents. A business chooses margins, and then finds scents that fit them.

Start with the fact: CSI does not sell a fragrance combo for new candle businesses. There is no ready-made set of oils, and no fragrance combo pack, sample pack or starter kit of fragrance on the store. You choose single oils and order them together. That is an advantage for a business, because it lets you build the range around the one number that decides whether you make money: what each candle costs to make.

Fragrance oils on CSI's catalogue range from ₹3.00 to ₹24.06 a gram at 100 g. In a 200 g candle at 8%, that is the difference between ₹48.00 and ₹384.96 of oil. Everything else in the candle — wax, wick, jar — costs the same whichever scent you pour. So two candles that look identical on your shelf can have very different costs, and if they carry the same price tag, one of them is quietly earning much less. Sorting scents into bands fixes that before it happens.

In-stock 100 g oils by band · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
The three cost bands used on this page
Band ₹ per gram at 100 g Oil in a 200 g candle at 8% In-stock 100 g oils in this band In the opening combo
Entry under ₹4.00/g under ₹64.00 11 Orchard Pear, Royal Apricot, Roasted Coffee
Core ₹4.00–₹6.00/g ₹64.00–₹96.00 27 Jasmine, Mango Coconut, Lavender
Premium over ₹6.00/g over ₹96.00 41 Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), Midnight Bakhoor Royale

The counts are worth a second look. Of the 79 oils in stock at 100 g, only 11 sit in the entry band and 41 are premium by this definition. The catalogue leans dear, largely because of the inspired-by and signature profiles. So a business that wants an affordable core range has fewer oils to choose from than it might assume, and it pays to know which ones they are. Affordable Candle Fragrance Oils in India lists the value end in full.

Band by the size you will actually buy
Bands are set at the 100 g price on this page because 100 g is where most oils reach their production rate. If you buy an oil at 15 g, its per-gram price is higher and it may jump a band; if you buy at 1 kg, a few oils drop one. Orchard Pear, for example, is ₹7.00 a gram at 15 g and ₹3.74 at 1 kg. Always band an oil at the size you will produce from.

The eight-oil opening combo

Eight scents is a workable opening range for a small business: enough choice on a stall or a product page, small enough to keep every scent in stock. The split is three entry, three core and two premium. Entry scents carry the everyday price point. Core scents are the familiar favourites. Premium scents give the range a top shelf, and are the ones to price up.

Opening combo · 100 g each · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
Eight oils, three bands, one order
Band Oil 100 g ₹/g Oil per candle Material cost per candle
Entry Orchard Pear ₹380.00 ₹3.80 ₹60.80 ₹247.72
Entry Royal Apricot ₹367.00 ₹3.67 ₹58.72 ₹245.64
Entry Roasted Coffee ₹390.00 ₹3.90 ₹62.40 ₹249.32
Core Jasmine ₹430.00 ₹4.30 ₹68.80 ₹255.72
Core Mango Coconut ₹500.00 ₹5.00 ₹80.00 ₹266.92
Core Lavender ₹540.00 ₹5.40 ₹86.40 ₹273.32
Premium Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) ₹700.00 ₹7.00 ₹112.00 ₹298.92
Premium Midnight Bakhoor Royale ₹799.00 ₹7.99 ₹127.84 ₹314.76
Total ₹4,106.00 ₹5.13 ₹82.12

Material cost means oil plus 184 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹110.22), an Eco Thin C1 wick (₹5.90) and a White Matte Glass Jar (₹70.80), a base of ₹186.92. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST, which you add in your own costing. The spread from the cheapest candle (Royal Apricot, ₹245.64) to the dearest (Midnight Bakhoor Royale, ₹314.76) is ₹69.12 per candle.

Why these eight? Within each band they cover different scent styles, so the band does not become three versions of one idea. Entry has a fruit, a stone fruit and a coffee. Core has a floral, a tropical and a herbal; Lavender and Jasmine are both near the top of the collection's best-selling sort, which is a store sort order and not a sales figure. Premium has an Indian night-blooming floral and a smoky, resinous profile for festive and gifting candles. Midnight Bakhoor Royale starts at 100 g, so 100 g is its smallest size. Which Fragrance Oils Should I Buy to Start a Candle Business? and Best 5 Fragrance Oils to Start a Candle Business look at choosing a first range from a different angle.

The business mistake: one price, eight costs. Most new candle businesses set one price for every scent in a size, and then build the range from scents they like. If the range includes premium oils, those candles quietly earn less than the rest, and if they sell best — premium scents often do in gifting — your best-selling candle is your least profitable. Decide the band first, then either price by band or set the single price against the dearest band.

Margin at three price points

The price you can charge is set by your market. The cost you pour is set by your combo. The margin is the gap, and you control only one side of it.

The table below shows material cost as a share of three illustrative selling prices: ₹499, ₹699 and ₹999 for a 200 g candle. These are not recommendations or market data; they are round numbers to show how the bands behave. Treat the price as your pre-GST selling price, and remember that labour, packaging, freight, platform fees and GST all come out of the gap.

200 g candle · 8% · oil at 100 g · illustrative pre-GST prices
Materials as a share of price, and what is left
Band Material cost At ₹499: share · left At ₹699: share · left At ₹999: share · left
Entry ₹247.56 49.6% · ₹251.44 35.4% · ₹451.44 24.8% · ₹751.44
Core ₹265.32 53.2% · ₹233.68 38.0% · ₹433.68 26.6% · ₹733.68
Premium ₹306.84 61.5% · ₹192.16 43.9% · ₹392.16 30.7% · ₹692.16

Two things stand out. First, at ₹499 materials take half the price or more in every band, which leaves little for labour, packaging and everything else. The jar and wax alone are ₹186.92. At that price point the container, not the fragrance, is the line to work on. Second, the premium band costs ₹59.28 more per candle than entry. At ₹999 that is barely visible; at ₹499 it is the difference between 49.6% and 61.5% of the price. So premium oils belong in candles priced for them.

The CSI principle
Price the band, not the scent.
Group scents by what they put into the candle, give each group a price, and every candle on the shelf earns a margin you chose. Price scent by scent, or everything at one price, and the margin is decided by whichever scent sells.
Argued against our own interest, plainly. Our premium oils earn us more per bottle, and it would suit us to tell a new business to lead with them. At a low selling price that is bad advice: a Midnight Bakhoor Royale candle at ₹499 spends 63.1% of its price on materials. If your market sits at that price, build the range mostly from the entry and core bands, and add a premium scent only in a size or format you can price higher.

A blended first month

In practice a range sells unevenly. As a working assumption, suppose your first month is 60 candles: 30 from the entry band, 20 from core and 10 from premium. The blended material cost is the weighted average of the three bands.

Illustrative month · 60 candles · 200 g · 8% · oil at 100 g
Blended cost and oil needed
Band Candles Oil needed (16 g each) Average material cost Band material total
Entry 30 480 g ₹247.56 ₹7,426.68
Core 20 320 g ₹265.32 ₹5,306.32
Premium 10 160 g ₹306.84 ₹3,068.36
Month 60 960 g ₹263.36 blended ₹15,801.36

The opening combo holds 800 g, so a 60-candle month uses it up and needs a reorder. The entry band needs 480 g across three oils, 160 g each. The core band needs 320 g, about 107 g each. The premium band needs 160 g, 80 g each. That tells you where to buy bigger. The entry oils are your volume line, and two of them have 500 g packs: Orchard Pear at ₹1,870.00 (₹3.74 a gram) and Roasted Coffee at ₹1,890.00 (₹3.78). Royal Apricot has no 500 g listing; its next size after 100 g is the 1 kg at ₹3,667.00.

1
Band every scent before you add itDivide the price of the size you will produce from by its grams, multiply by 16, and place the scent in entry, core or premium.
2
Set a price per bandEither three prices, one per band, or one price set against the premium band. Write down the material share at that price for each band.
3
Open with 100 g of eachEight scents at 100 g cost ₹4,106.00. 100 g is where most oils reach their production rate, and it makes six candles, enough to learn which scents sell.
4
Track sales by band, not only by scentAfter four to six weeks you will see whether your customers buy mostly entry, mostly premium or a mix. That decides your next order more than any single scent does.
5
Reorder the volume band biggerMove the best-selling band's oils to 500 g or 1 kg where that size is listed and in stock. Keep the premium band at 100 g until it proves itself.
6
Ask for a quote once you pass the listed packsWhen one oil needs more than the listed 1 kg, or the order is several kilos across the range, ask CSI on WhatsApp. No discount figure is published, so quote your volumes and ask.

Reordering by band

On CSI's listed prices, bigger packs mostly buy convenience and stock security, not a lower rate: 52 of 91 oils cost within 1% per gram at 100 g and 1 kg. But a few in this combo do get cheaper. Here are the reorder sizes for each band's oils.

Reorder ladder · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
Per gram at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg
Band Oil 100 g ₹/g 500 g 1 kg 1 kg ₹/g
Entry Orchard Pear ₹3.80 ₹1,870.00 (₹3.74) ₹3,738.00 ₹3.74
Entry Royal Apricot ₹3.67 Not listed ₹3,667.00 ₹3.67
Entry Roasted Coffee ₹3.90 ₹1,890.00 (₹3.78) ₹3,738.00 ₹3.74
Core Jasmine ₹4.30 ₹1,961.00 (₹3.92) ₹3,923.00 ₹3.92
Core Mango Coconut ₹5.00 ₹1,982.00 (₹3.96) ₹3,964.00 ₹3.96
Core Lavender ₹5.40 ₹2,620.00 (₹5.24) ₹5,221.00 ₹5.22
Premium Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) ₹7.00 ₹3,387.00 (₹6.77) ₹6,774.00 ₹6.77
Premium Midnight Bakhoor Royale ₹7.99 ₹3,999.00 (₹8.00) ₹7,999.00 ₹8.00

Mango Coconut is the standout: its 1 kg is 20.7% cheaper per gram than its 100 g (₹3.96 against ₹5.00), which would move it from the core band into the entry band at kilo rates. Jasmine's kilo saves 8.8%. The others save a few percent at most, and Royal Apricot and Midnight Bakhoor Royale are effectively flat. So once Mango Coconut is proven, the kilo improves its margin; for the flat-priced oils, the kilo only saves reorder trips.

Rules for adding a scent

Band it before you buy it. Every new scent gets a band from its per-gram price at the size you will produce from. If it lands in premium, decide now what it will sell for.

Test at the smallest listed size. 15 g where it is listed, otherwise 50 g or 100 g. A new scent should earn a 100 g order by selling, not by being liked. How to Sample Candle Fragrance Oils Before Placing a Wholesale Order sets out a sampling routine before a wholesale order.

Keep the bands balanced to your market. If your price point is low, most of the range should be entry and core. If it is high, you can carry more premium. Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We do not sell a business fragrance combo, and this page says so first. It then tells a new business, against our own interest, not to lead with our dearest oils if its market sits at a low price point.

Oil and wax prices on this page come from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick and jar prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Band counts are of oils in stock at 100 g on the pull date. Every per-gram figure, per-candle cost and material share is plain arithmetic on those prices, to two decimals.

The band thresholds, the ₹499 / ₹699 / ₹999 price points and the 30/20/10 month are illustrative working assumptions, not market data or pricing advice. Frequently asked questions

Which fragrance oils are best for starting a candle business?
The ones whose cost fits your price. Sort candidates into bands by the oil cost per candle, then choose a spread. This page's eight — Orchard Pear, Royal Apricot, Roasted Coffee, Jasmine, Mango Coconut, Lavender, Raat Ki Rani and Midnight Bakhoor Royale — cost ₹4,106.00 at 100 g each. Which Fragrance Oils Should I Buy to Start a Candle Business? covers the same question from the scent side.
How much does it cost to make one scented candle in India?
For a 200 g soy candle at 8% fragrance in a White Matte Glass Jar, material cost on CSI's prices runs from about ₹245.64 to ₹314.76 with the eight oils here, before labour, packaging, freight and GST. The wax, wick and jar are ₹186.92 of that.
Is there a fragrance oil combo for candle businesses in India?
CSI does not sell one. Build it from single oils; CSI will check stock and quote the combo with a GST invoice on WhatsApp. Volume pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted; no discount figure is published.
How many fragrances should a new candle business launch with?
Six to ten is manageable for most small businesses. This page uses eight. Complete Candle Fragrance Oil Starter Collection for New Brands sets out a launch range and reorder plan, and I'm Starting a Candle Brand With 10 Fragrances — How Much Fragrance Oil Should I Buy Before I Know Which Ones Will Sell? covers buying for ten before you know what sells.
Are expensive fragrance oils more profitable for candles?
Only if the candle is priced for them. In this combo the dearest premium oil adds about ₹69 per 200 g candle over the cheapest entry oil. At a high price that is minor; at a low price it can take a big share of what is left.
Should a candle business buy fragrance oil by the kilo?
When reorder frequency calls for it. For 52 of 91 oils, 1 kg costs within 1% per gram of 100 g. For some, such as Mango Coconut (20.7%) and Jasmine (8.8%), the kilo saves real money. My Candle Business Uses 5–10 Kg of Fragrance Oil Every Month — Should I Negotiate Wholesale Pricing or Buy Larger Packs? covers negotiating versus buying bigger packs.
