CSI Wholesale · Clean & Fresh
Fresh oils do not all get cheaper in bulk. Here is the per-gram ladder for ten CSI fresh oils at every size, where the discount really sits, and what the premium marine listing costs you per candle.
₹2.83
per gram — Citrus Lemon at 1 kg, the bottom of the fresh ladder · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which fresh fragrance oil is cheapest at wholesale? Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil, at ₹2.83 per gram in the 1 kg (₹2,832.00). Next on this page's ten-oil ladder come Eucalyptus Spearmint at ₹3.07 and Cucumber Green Tea at ₹3.33.

Does buying 1 kg always save money on fresh oils? No. Eucalyptus Spearmint's 1 kg is 27.8% cheaper per gram than its 50 g; Cucumber Green Tea's only 5.7%; and Blue Ocean's 1 kg is 0.3% dearer per gram than its 50 g.

Is the Freshwater listing worth its premium over Blue Ocean? For most candle makers, not before a blind test. At 50 g it costs 2.4 times Blue Ocean per gram (₹11.98 against ₹4.94), its page states no candle load, and its 500 g and 1 kg were out of stock on 24 September 2026.

What is the smart wholesale size? For most fresh oils, 500 g. On Cucumber Green Tea and Lemongrass and Lime the 500 g already matches the 1 kg per gram; across a four-oil mix, going from 500 g to 1 kg saves ₹0.73 of oil per candle.
The short answer
Cheapest per gram in bulk (of the ten compared): Citrus Lemon ₹2.83, Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹3.07, Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33 (all 1 kg).
Biggest bulk discount (of the ten): Verbena (28.6% from 50 g to 1 kg) and Eucalyptus Spearmint (27.8%).
No bulk discount: Blue Ocean (fractionally dearer at 1 kg) and Lavender (3.3%).
The premium question: Freshwater ₹11.98/g vs Blue Ocean ₹4.94/g at 50 g: ₹84.48 more oil cost in every 8% candle.
The fresh per-gram ladder, cheapest bulk first Bar = ₹ per gram at the largest size in stock on 24 September 2026. Ring = ₹ per gram at 50 g. Where the ring sits right of the bar end, bulk saves money; where it sits on or left of it, bulk saves nothing. ₹ per gram 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 Citrus Lemon ₹2.83 at 1 kg Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹3.07 at 1 kg Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33 at 1 kg Zesty Lemon * ₹3.40 at 1 kg Verbena ₹4.72 at 1 kg Blue Ocean ₹4.96 at 1 kg Lemongrass and Lime ₹5.20 at 1 kg Lavender ₹5.22 at 1 kg Neroli ₹6.66 at 1 kg Freshwater * ₹11.90 at 100 g * Perfume-grade or brand-inspired listing with no candle load stated on its page. Freshwater 500 g and 1 kg are out of stock on 24 September 2026, so its bar shows the 100 g. Blue Ocean is the one oil where the bar ends right of the ring. CSI live pricing; per gram = price ÷ grams, two decimals.
Ten fresh oils ranked by per-gram price at their largest in-stock size. The distance between each ring and its bar end is what a bulk buy saves per gram: wide for Verbena and Eucalyptus Spearmint, a sliver for Lavender and Neroli, and negative for Blue Ocean.
Straight answer
I sell clean and fresh candles in volume. Which CSI fresh oils give me the best wholesale price, and when is paying more worth it?
On price alone the bottom of the ladder is Citrus Lemon (₹2.83 per gram at 1 kg), Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹3.07) and Cucumber Green Tea (₹3.33); all three state a candle load and all are in stock at every size on 24 September 2026. The bulk discount is not uniform: it is large on Verbena (28.6%) and Eucalyptus Spearmint (27.8%), small on Cucumber Green Tea (5.7%) and Lavender (3.3%), and absent on Blue Ocean, whose 1 kg is 0.3% dearer per gram than its 50 g. The Freshwater listing sits at the other end: ₹11.98 per gram at 50 g, 143% more than Blue Ocean, no stated candle load, and only 15 g, 50 g and 100 g in stock. Pay that premium only if a blind burn test shows your customers prefer it, and only at the sizes you can actually buy.
One line: the cheapest fresh oil per gram is not always the cheapest size to buy, so check each oil's ladder before assuming 1 kg is the deal.
Bottom rung of the ladder. Citrus Lemon 1 kg is ₹2,832.00 (₹2.83 per gram): 83 candles of 150 g at 8%, ₹33.98 of oil in each. The page states "candles (6-10%)".

The full per-gram ladder, every size

A price list tells you what a bottle costs. A ladder tells you what a gram costs, and that is the number a wholesale buyer lives on.

Four patterns in the ladder

1. Early-break oils. Eucalyptus Spearmint and Citrus Lemon get most of their discount by 100 g: Eucalyptus Spearmint's 100 g is already 16.7% cheaper per gram than its 50 g. For a small maker selling one fresh scent, 100 g bottles of these two capture much of the saving without the storage.

2. Late-break oils. Verbena saves most between 100 g and 500 g, and Lemongrass and Lime drops as much there (₹0.70 per gram) as it did from 50 g to 100 g. Verbena's 500 g is 16.0% cheaper per gram than its 100 g. If either is a bestseller, 500 g is the size where the price changes character.

3. Flat oils. Cucumber Green Tea is the same per gram at 50 g and 100 g, and again at 500 g and 1 kg. Lavender and Neroli barely move from 100 g upwards. For these, buying bigger buys you fewer reorders, not a lower price.

4. The inverted oil. Blue Ocean runs the wrong way: ₹4.94 per gram at 50 g, ₹4.95 at 100 g and ₹4.96 at 500 g and 1 kg. The difference is a paisa or two per gram, ₹59.47 against ₹59.28 of oil in an 8% candle, but it means there is no price reason at all to buy Blue Ocean in bulk. Buy it in bulk for convenience and consistency of batch if you like; just do not expect a discount.

Mistake: ranking fresh oils by their 50 g price and assuming the order holds at 1 kg. Fix: the order changes. At 50 g, Citrus Lemon (₹3.40) and Cucumber Green Tea (₹3.53) are neck and neck and Eucalyptus Spearmint is fourth; at 1 kg Eucalyptus Spearmint has jumped to second. Verbena is among the dearest at 50 g and cheaper than Blue Ocean at 1 kg. Always compare at the size you will actually reorder.

One kilogram bought four ways

The cleanest way to see a ladder is to buy the same kilogram four ways: as twenty 50 g bottles, ten 100 g bottles, two 500 g packs or one 1 kg. Nobody orders twenty 50 g bottles, but the column shows what the small sizes are really costing you per kilogram.

Cost of 1 kg of oil, by the size you buy it in · 24 September 2026
The same kilogram can cost up to ₹1,888.00 more, or a little less, depending on the bottle
Oil 20 × 50 g 10 × 100 g 2 × 500 g 1 × 1 kg What it tells you
Citrus Lemon ₹3,400.00 ₹3,000.00 ₹2,840.00 ₹2,832.00 500 g is within a few rupees of 1 kg
Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹4,248.00 ₹3,540.00 ₹3,304.00 ₹3,068.00 1 kg saves ₹1,180.00 over 50 g bottles
Cucumber Green Tea ₹3,528.20 ₹3,528.20 ₹3,327.60 ₹3,327.60 2 × 500 g costs exactly the same as 1 kg
Blue Ocean ₹4,940.00 ₹4,950.00 ₹4,956.00 ₹4,956.00 50 g bottles are ₹16.00 cheaper than 1 kg
Verbena ₹6,608.00 ₹5,900.00 ₹4,956.00 ₹4,720.00 the steepest ladder: ₹1,888.00 between top and bottom
Lemongrass and Lime ₹6,600.00 ₹5,900.00 ₹5,200.00 ₹5,200.00 2 × 500 g costs exactly the same as 1 kg
Freshwater ₹11,980.00 ₹11,900.00 out of stock out of stock 100 g is the largest size you can buy

The practical rule that falls out: for Cucumber Green Tea and Lemongrass and Lime, buy 500 g, not 1 kg. You pay the same per gram, hold half the stock, and open a fresh pack sooner, which matters for citrus and aquatic top notes once a pack has been opened and closed many times. For Eucalyptus Spearmint and Verbena, the 1 kg is a genuine saving on an oil you already know sells. For Blue Ocean, size is a convenience decision, not a price one.

A four-oil wholesale mix · worked example
Stocking four fresh oils at 500 g vs 1 kg
Mix Citrus Lemon Eucalyptus Spearmint Cucumber Green Tea Blue Ocean Total Per gram
500 g each (2 kg) ₹1,420.00 ₹1,652.00 ₹1,663.80 ₹2,478.00 ₹7,213.80 ₹3.61
1 kg each (4 kg) ₹2,832.00 ₹3,068.00 ₹3,327.60 ₹4,956.00 ₹14,183.60 ₹3.55

Doubling the order saves ₹0.06 per gram on average, which is ₹0.73 of oil per 150 g candle at 8%. That is real money over hundreds of candles and trivial money over forty. We sell the 1 kg packs, and for most first wholesale orders we would still point you at the 500 g: 41 candles per oil is a sensible first production run, and the difference per candle will not change your retail price. How many candles a season actually needs, and when to buy for summer, is the batch-maths question covered in Bulk Fresh Fragrance Oils for Candle Manufacturers.

Freshwater vs Blue Ocean: the price gap

Two marine oils, one at ₹4.94 a gram and one at ₹11.98. The question is not which smells better; it is what the difference buys you.

Both are aquatic, both are in CSI's fragrance oil range, and both come up whenever a buyer asks for "fresh". The listing named "Freshwater Fragrance Oil Bath and Body Works Inspired" is CSI's product listing name; the oil is CSI's interpretation of a style, CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and the brand name should never appear on your candle label. With that said, here is the comparison on paper.

What the gap means in candles

At 50 g prices, the Freshwater oil costs ₹84.48 more per 150 g candle at 8%; at 100 g prices, ₹83.40 more. Over a worked example of 40 candles poured from 100 g bottles, that is ₹3,336.00. At the listed kilogram prices the gap would be ₹6,264.00 per kilogram, but the Freshwater kilogram was not available on the pull date, so a wholesale buyer cannot actually buy it at that rung today.

When the premium can make sense

In our judgement, three cases. First, if a blind test (below) shows your customers consistently prefer it, because a preference that sells is worth more than ₹84.48 a candle. Second, if the citrus-lavender-cedar structure is exactly the fresh your range lacks: Blue Ocean has no citrus top and no lavender. Third, for a small premium line where oil is a smaller share of a higher retail price. In every other case, Blue Ocean is the evidence-backed wholesale buy: stated load, every size in stock, and less than half the price per gram.

1
Buy the smallest honest pairFreshwater 15 g (₹199.00) and Blue Ocean 15 g (₹93.22) cost ₹292.22 for a cold-sniff comparison. For a burn test at two loads, buy 50 g of each: ₹846.00.
2
Pour at the same load in the same waxFreshwater's page states no candle load, so stay inside your wax's stated ceiling (10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464) and pour both at 8%, then both at 6%. Same jar, same wick, same day.
3
Cure identicallyNeither page states a cure time; at least 48–72 hours, longer for soy, is common practice. Sniff at day 3 and day 7.
4
Hide the labelsNumber the jars. Ask at least five people, ideally customers, which they would buy. Do not tell them one costs more.
5
Price the preferenceIf Freshwater wins clearly, ask whether your customers will pay at least ₹84.48 more per candle for it (plus your margin on that). If it is a split decision, buy Blue Ocean.
Argued against our own interest: the premium listing earns us more per gram, and we are telling you not to buy it by default. A higher price per gram is not evidence of a better candle. Until a blind burn test says otherwise, a stated candle load and a kilogram you can actually order are worth more to a wholesale buyer than a name. If you do choose Freshwater, ask on WhatsApp when the 500 g and 1 kg will be back before you plan production around them.

Five oils by wholesale role

These are picked for their place on the ladder, not as a scent shortlist (that is the hub's job). Candle counts assume a 150 g candle at 8% (12 g of oil).

1
citrus · lowest per-gram in bulk
Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil
The bottom rung. Notes: "zesty lemon and lime top notes, bright grapefruit and orange heart, and a tangy mandarin finish"; the page states "candles (6-10%)". It also lists wax melt and room spray uses, which makes it a flexible bulk buy if you make more than candles. Limitation: a citrus-only structure with no stated musk or wood base, so it reads as bright and simple, and the top notes are what fade first in a burn. At wholesale it is the price floor, not the prestige scent.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹81.42 ₹5.43 1
50 g ₹170.00 ₹3.40 4
100 g ₹300.00 ₹3.00 8
500 g ₹1,420.00 ₹2.84 41
1 kg ₹2,832.00 ₹2.83 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹40.80 at 50 g, ₹33.98 at 1 kg. Buy Citrus Lemon
2
cool herbal · steepest early discount
Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil
The oil where volume pays best early: ₹4.25 per gram at 50 g, ₹3.54 at 100 g, ₹3.07 at 1 kg. Notes: "combining crisp eucalyptus with cool spearmint"; stated load "up to 10% for soy wax, up to 6% for paraffin"; the page describes it as IFRA-certified (page wording; documents on request). Limitation: a two-note, assertive scent. Its wholesale value is highest for makers who already know their customers want mint; for a mixed fresh range, 500 g is enough.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹68.44 ₹4.56 1
50 g ₹212.40 ₹4.25 4
100 g ₹354.00 ₹3.54 8
500 g ₹1,652.00 ₹3.30 41
1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹3.07 83
1 kg as twenty 50 g bottles would cost ₹4,248.00; the 1 kg is ₹3,068.00. Buy Eucalyptus Spearmint
3
green · flat above 500 g
Cucumber Green Tea
Cheap from the first 50 g and flat after 500 g, which makes it the easiest oil on the ladder to reorder in small lots without penalty. Notes in three tiers: cucumber and green tea leaves, jasmine and lemon, clean musk and light woods. The page says "we recommend using 8-10% fragrance oil per pound of wax", which mixes units; we apply it as a percentage of total candle weight. Limitation: its 15 g is ₹6.21 per gram, the dearest small bottle relative to its own 50 g on this ladder, so never sample it at 15 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹176.41 ₹3.53 4
100 g ₹352.82 ₹3.53 8
500 g ₹1,663.80 ₹3.33 41
1 kg ₹3,327.60 ₹3.33 83
2 × 500 g and 1 × 1 kg both cost ₹3,327.60: buy the 500 g. Buy Cucumber Green Tea
4
aquatic · no bulk discount
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
The aquatic workhorse, and the one oil on the ladder where bigger is fractionally dearer per gram. Notes: "sea salt and ozone top notes, jasmine and lily of the valley heart, and driftwood and musk base"; stated load "candles (up to 10%)"; page wording "phthalate-free". Limitation for a wholesale buyer: no price reason to buy big. Buy the size that matches how fast you pour it, and if you are pouring hundreds of aquatic candles, ask on WhatsApp whether a bulk quote differs from the list.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹247.00 ₹4.94 4
100 g ₹495.00 ₹4.95 8
500 g ₹2,478.00 ₹4.96 41
1 kg ₹4,956.00 ₹4.96 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹59.28 at 50 g, ₹59.47 at 1 kg. Buy Blue Ocean
5
aquatic citrus · premium, limited sizes
Freshwater Fragrance Oil (brand-inspired listing)
The premium marine option. As noted above, its full listing name refers to a brand; CSI is not affiliated with that brand, and the brand name stays off your label. Notes: "Opens with Italian bergamot and lemon zest. Heart of marine accord and lavender. Base of cedarwood and musk." The page states no candle load, so work inside your wax's ceiling and test at 6% and 8%. Limitation: 2.4 times Blue Ocean's per-gram price at 50 g, and nothing above 100 g in stock on 24 September 2026.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹199.00 ₹13.27 1
50 g ₹599.00 ₹11.98 4

How to read a price ladder before you order

Five minutes with a calculator saves more than any discount code.

The same method works on any supplier's price list, including ours. It is how we built the table above, and it is how we would want a wholesale customer to check us.

Divide, then compare the same rung

Divide each size's price by its grams, to two decimals. Then compare oils at the size you will reorder, not the size you tested. A 50 g comparison is useful for sampling and misleading for wholesale, as Verbena and Eucalyptus Spearmint show.

Find the break

Look for the size where the per-gram price drops most. On this ladder it is 100 g for Eucalyptus Spearmint and Citrus Lemon, 500 g for Verbena, 100 g and 500 g equally for Lemongrass and Lime, and nowhere for Blue Ocean. Buy at or just past the break; the rungs above it usually add storage, not savings.

Check stock at the rung you want

A ladder with a missing rung is a different ladder. Freshwater's 500 g and 1 kg were out of stock on 24 September 2026, so its real bulk price is the 100 g. Check that the size you need is in stock before you plan a production run, and confirm on WhatsApp for anything above 500 g.

Convert to per candle

Multiply per gram by the grams in one candle (12 g at 8% in a 150 g candle). This turns abstract paise into a line on your costing sheet and usually shows that the oil-size decision is worth a few rupees a candle, while the jar decision is worth tens.

Ask for the quote, not the discount
List prices are what everyone sees. For regular 1 kg orders across several fresh oils, message us with the exact oils and sizes and ask for a quote with GST invoice. We do not state whether listed prices include GST; the invoice will show it.

What the ladder does to a candle's cost

Wholesale buyers care about the ladder because it feeds the costing sheet. Here are two worked examples at production-style pack sizes: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at the 10 kg price (₹70.02 for 138 g), a Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) from the pack of 20 (₹94.40), and an Eco Candle Wick, Thin (C1) from the pack of 100 (₹5.90).

Material cost per 150 g candle at 8% · worked example
The cheapest and the dearest oil on this ladder in the same candle
Line Citrus Lemon (1 kg price) Freshwater (100 g price)
Oil, 12 g ₹33.98 ₹142.80
Wax, 138 g CSI 464 ₹70.02 ₹70.02
Jar ₹94.40 ₹94.40
Wick ₹5.90 ₹5.90
Total materials ₹204.31 ₹313.12
Oil as a share of materials 17% 46%

Both totals exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. With a budget oil the jar is the biggest cost; with the premium listing the oil is. That is the honest wholesale case for and against Freshwater in one table. For a line where the jar and brand carry the price, see Luxury Clean Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles; for which fresh oils have enough base to justify a higher load, see Strong Fresh Fragrance Oils for Candle Making.

The CSI principle
Buy at the break, not at the top.
Every oil has a size where its price per gram drops most. Past that point you are buying storage, not savings, and for fresh oils storage is the thing you want least of.
"The cheapest kilogram is the one you sell before the top notes tire. For most fresh oils, that kilogram comes in two 500 g packs."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil on this ladder, and this page still tells you where our 1 kg is no cheaper than our 500 g, where our 50 g is cheaper per gram than our 1 kg, and why a premium marine listing is not the default buy.

Every price and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Out-of-stock sizes, including the Freshwater 500 g and 1 kg, are flagged and never presented as buyable. Notes and candle loads are quoted from each product page; where a page does not state a candle load, we say so.

The ladder patterns, character readings and the premium test are our judgement; the numbers are data. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); candle counts are floor(grams ÷ 12). Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464's stated ceiling is 10%, a formulation limit, not a regulatory one. Zesty Lemon and Freshwater state no candle load. Per-candle costs and the 40-candle comparison are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Summer is approximate (roughly April–June); 31 March 2027 is a suggested ordering date, not a supplier deadline. Character readings and ladder patterns are editorial judgement.
