I Want One Jar to Work for Retail Candles, Wedding Gifting and Corporate Orders — What Size, Appearance and Packaging Factors Should I Prioritise?
Share
What do the three channels have in common? Wedding and corporate buyers both care most about the lid, label space, a volume price, stock depth and the deadline. Retail cares most about how the jar stands out, which a label and scent can do without changing the jar.
Which CSI jar fits that brief? The Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram): ₹94.40 per jar with the lid, flat in packs of 10 or 20, and one of seven listings whose page states "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C".
How should packaging change by channel? Keep one shipper and change only the outer layer: tissue for retail (₹29.75 per candle in total), a tag and ribbon for weddings, a client-logo label and bulk cartons for corporate.

What each channel really needs
The three channels judge the same jar by different rules. Retail customers choose one candle among many, so the jar competes on the shelf or the screen. Wedding families buy a quantity for a date that cannot move, and every favour must match. Corporate buyers need a quote, a sample, documentation and a delivery date, and a jar that carries their brand rather than yours. The diagram rates nine factors for each; the table below turns the ratings into what to check.
| Question | Retail | Wedding gifting | Corporate |
|---|---|---|---|
| How many, how often? | Small batches, reordered | One order of perhaps 100–500, once | One order of perhaps 100–1,000, often seasonal |
| What must match? | Your range | Every favour, to the wedding theme | Every gift, to the client's brand |
| Who is the label for? | Your brand, net quantity, safety | The couple (names, date), plus safety | The client (logo, message), plus safety |
| What happens if you run short? | A late reorder | Guests without a favour on the day | A broken promise to a buyer who may not reorder |
| What do they ask about the jar? | Rarely anything | Colour, lid, how it looks on the table | Sometimes heat safety and documentation |
Two conclusions follow. First, the jar that serves all three must be the one that serves the two demanding channels, because retail can adapt through label and scent while a wedding cannot adapt to a jar that runs out. Second, the jar must be neutral enough to carry someone else's identity: your brand in retail, the couple's in a wedding, a company's in a corporate gift. That is why colour, print and unusual shapes, which help in retail, become liabilities across channels. The operational case for one common jar across a fragrance range is in one jar for five fragrances; this page applies the same logic across buyers.
Size: why about 150 g
Size is where the three channels pull hardest in different directions. A retail customer may want a bigger candle for their money; a wedding family multiplies your price by the guest list; a corporate buyer multiplies it by the headcount and wants something that sits on a desk. About 150 g is our judgement of the middle: substantial enough to read as a gift, small enough for a volume budget, and a size where the jar and fill cost can still leave room for packaging.
In our worked example, a 150 g candle at 8% (138 g of CSI 464, 12 g of Jasmine, one Eco C2 wick as a placeholder until your burn test chooses) costs ₹126.54 to fill: ₹70.02 of wax, ₹47.08 of oil and ₹9.44 of wick at bulk prices. In the golden-lid jar, jar and fill together are ₹220.94, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST. That shared core is identical in all three channels, which is the point of one jar.
Appearance: clear glass, a lid and a plain wall
Clear or one neutral colour. Clear glass shows the wax, so a wedding can match a pastel dye and a corporate gift can match a brand colour without a new jar. A single dark glass (black) is the other safe choice: it reads as premium in retail and suits evening weddings and many corporate palettes, but it hides the candle, so the colour story moves entirely to the label. Bright coloured glass is the hardest to reuse across channels; it can clash with a wedding theme or a client's brand. Consistency across batches also matters when three channels share a jar; how clear, amber, frosted and coloured glass compare for that is the finish-consistency post.
A lid in the jar price. Wedding and corporate gifts are handled, stacked, carried home and often not lit for weeks. A lid keeps dust out and scent in, protects the surface in transit and gives the gift a finished moment. Buying a lid separately adds a line to every quote and a fit to check every batch; with the golden-lid jar, the lid is inside ₹94.40. Against a lidless White Matte 200 ml jar at ₹70.80, the lid costs you ₹23.60 more per jar; set that against the price of any lid you would buy separately and the fit you would have to check on every batch.
A plain wall with room to label. The wall carries your brand, a couple's names and a client's logo in turn, plus the safety wording and net quantity. Printed, embossed or heavily textured jars make that impossible. Measure the flat label area before you design; the golden-lid jar's page calls it both curved and straight-sided, and a wrap label needs to know which. Net-quantity declarations on pre-packaged goods fall under India's Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules; check the current requirements for each channel you sell through. This is not legal advice (setting the net weight on the label).
| Jar | Lid | Finish | Per jar | Packs | Heat wording | Across channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) | Golden metal, included | Clear | ₹94.40 | 10, 20 | "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C" | Our pick: neutral, lidded, flat pricing |
| Black Glass Jar with Black Lid (150 gram) | Black or golden (page contradicts) | Black | ₹107.00 | 10, 20 | "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C" | Good dark option; confirm lid and dispatch |
| Red, Pink or Orange Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) | Golden metal | Coloured | ₹107.00 | 10, 20 | "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C" | Theme-specific; stale delivery text in the Red title and in handles |
| 200ml Salsa clear, 63 mm lug cap | Golden lug cap | Clear | ₹40.12 at 5; ₹29.50 at 100 | 5, 50, 100 | No figure | Budget volumes; less of a gift look |
| White Matte 200 ml family | None listed | Matte, frosted, glossy; 13 in stock | ₹70.80 | 5, 10 | No figure | Strong retail look; no lid for gifting |
| Black Shiny Glass Jar with Golden Lid (120 g) | Golden | Shiny black | ₹47.20 | 1, 5 | None | Smaller favour size; check quantity |
| Golden Aluminium Tin, 85g | Snug-fit, included | Matte gold | ₹30.00 | 12 | "Heat-safe aluminium" | Favours and hampers; light to ship |
The Amber Glass Jar with Black Lid (150 gram) is out of stock on 26 September 2026, as are the Pink Matte, Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted jars in the 200 ml family. Every jar shown in the table is in stock on that date.
Packaging: one shipper, three outer layers
Packaging is where channels can differ without touching the jar. Keep the same shipper box and the same safety sticker for everything, and vary only the layer the recipient sees. That keeps one box in stock, one fit to test and one wrap routine for your packers.
| Line | Retail | Wedding favour | Corporate gift |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jar with golden lid | ₹94.40 | ₹94.40 | ₹94.40 |
| Fill: 150 g at 8% (CSI 464, Jasmine, C2) | ₹126.54 | ₹126.54 | ₹126.54 |
| Shipper box 11 × 11 × 8 cm | ₹22.42 | ₹22.42 | ₹22.42 |
| Candle-care sticker | ₹0.83 | ₹0.83 | ₹0.83 |
| Tissue sheet | ₹6.50 | ₹6.50 | not used |
| Favour tag and ribbon (worked example) | not used | ₹12.00 | not used |
| Client-logo label (worked example) | not used | not used | ₹8.00 |
| Packaging subtotal | ₹29.75 | ₹41.75 | ₹31.25 |
| Materials and packaging per candle | ₹250.69 | ₹262.69 | ₹252.19 |
The spread between channels is small: the wedding outer layer costs ₹12.00 more than retail's, and in retail the whole packaging line is 11.9% of the candle's materials. That is the case for one jar in numbers: the expensive part, jar plus fill at ₹220.94, is shared, and the channel-specific part is a few rupees of paper and print. Tags, ribbons and logo labels are illustrative figures; CSI does not sell them, so use your printer's quotes. These totals exclude labour, courier and GST; how a retail price supports them is the container-budget post.
Corporate orders often go to one office in bulk rather than to 300 addresses. Then the individual shipper can be replaced by the gift box the client sees, packed in larger cartons; our 7 × 5 × 4 inch 3-ply box is ₹1,336.00 for 50. Test how many wrapped jars it holds safely before you promise a carton count. Wedding orders are usually delivered in bulk too, which is one more reason to keep favours in a sturdy individual box: they are handed out one by one on the day.
Supply: stock depth decides the jar
For retail, a stockout is an annoyance; for a wedding or a corporate order with a fixed date, it is the whole order. So before a jar becomes your multi-channel jar, check how it is sold and how deep the stock runs. Packs of 20 at a flat price make quoting easy; single-unit listings make a 300-piece order a special request. Spares are our judgement, not industry data: we use about 6.7% for a 150-favour wedding and 6.7% for a 300-gift corporate order in the example below. Buffer thinking by order type is in the extra-jars framework; wedding and corporate specifics are in the 500-favour wedding post and the 1,000-candle corporate post.
| Order | Jars needed incl. spares | Packs | Jar cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retail launch | 40 | 2 × Pack of 20 | ₹3,776.00 |
| Wedding, 150 favours | 160 (10 spares) | 8 × Pack of 20 | ₹15,104.00 |
| Corporate, 300 gifts | 320 (20 spares) | 16 × Pack of 20 | ₹30,208.00 |
| Corporate, 300 gifts, in 200ml Salsa clear | 320 (20 spares) | 3 × 100 Pcs + 4 × 5 Pcs | ₹9,652.40 |
The golden-lid jar has no pack discount: 20 costs exactly twice 10, so the price per jar is the same for 40 or 320. The Salsa clear is the exception in this list, ₹40.12 at 5 and ₹29.50 at 50 or more. Argued against our own interest: for a corporate buyer who only cares about unit price, the Salsa order is ₹20,555.60 less for 320 gifts, and we would rather you quote it honestly than lose the order. For anything above a few packs, ask us on WhatsApp to confirm stock and dispatch before you commit a date to a client.
The one-jar trial, step by step
Before a jar becomes your jar for every channel, run it through all three channels once. The trial costs one pack of 20 and a few days, and it answers every question a planner or buyer will ask.
The jars and packaging
One jar pick, one dark alternative from the same family, one budget option for high volumes, and the two packaging items every channel shares. Test the jar once for wick, fill, label fit and box fit; every channel then inherits the result.

Diwali corporate and winter weddings in one jar
The two gifting peaks overlap. Diwali falls on 8 November 2026, 43 days after 26 September 2026, a common peak for corporate gifting. The North Indian winter, roughly December to February, is a busy stretch of the wedding calendar in many regions, and Christmas on 25 December 2026 sits in the middle of it. With one jar, both peaks draw on the same stock, the same wick approval and the same shipper: a real advantage, and a real risk if you have not reserved enough jars.
| By | What |
|---|---|
| 3 October 2026 | One-jar trial done: wick, fill, label and box fit approved; channel samples photographed. |
| 10 October 2026 | Corporate quotes out with a confirmed jar quantity and dispatch date. |
| 20 October 2026 | Corporate candles poured; wedding enquiries quoted from remaining and incoming stock. |
| 8 November 2026 | Diwali: corporate deliveries complete. |
| December 2026 – February 2027 | Wedding orders from the same jar, wick and shipper; reorder jars in packs of 20. |
CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the jars, wax, oil and packaging named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page tells you our cheaper lug-cap jar undercuts our pick on a corporate quote, that some of our coloured 150 g listings carry stale delivery text, and that several of our jars are sold singly and do not suit a 150-favour order. That is deliberate: a jar you can supply to all three channels is one you will keep ordering.
Every price and per-jar figure was verified on CSI's live store on 26 September 2026; every pack in a pick table is in stock on that date, and out-of-stock jars and packaging (Amber 150 g jar, Pink Matte, Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted jars, the 4.5 × 3 × 2.5 inch box, crinkle paper filler) are named. Capacity, dimension, finish and heat wording is quoted from the product pages; where a page contradicts itself, we say so. CSI publishes no heat, burn-down or breakage test data.
The channel ratings, the 150 g recommendation and the spares figures are editorial judgement; tag, ribbon and logo-label costs are illustrative worked-example inputs; wedding-season timing is a general calendar pattern, not a forecast.
