Screen ten spa oils at 15 g, test six at three loads, and buy bulk for three. Here are the ten, the rules that remove the rest, and what each stage costs.
₹1,021.24
ten spa oils × 15 g — Round 1 of the funnel · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How many spa fragrances should I test before buying in bulk? Ten at the sniff-and-one-candle stage, six at the three-load stage, and bulk for three. Testing fewer than ten leaves whole spa families unexamined; buying bulk for more than three before you have sold anything ties up money in scents that compete with each other.

Which ten? Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea, Lemongrass and Lime, Sandalwood, Verbena, Blue Ocean, Ylang Ylang, Palo Santo and Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (CSI's listing name for this oil; CSI is not affiliated with any brand of that name, so keep it off your labels) — ranked below on stated load, per-gram price, stock depth and role. All ten are in stock at every listed size on 24 September 2026.

What does testing cost? Round 1 (ten oils at 15 g, with wax, jars and wicks): ₹2,999.24. Round 2 (six survivors at 50 g, three loads each): ₹6,874.61 in the worked example. Both rounds: ₹9,873.85.

When do I buy bulk? Only for the three oils that survive both rounds, and only after a decision date you set in advance. For Eucalyptus Spearmint the 1 kg is 28% cheaper per gram than the 50 g, so that is a genuine bulk buy; for Blue Ocean, bigger is not cheaper at all.
The short answer
Test list: ten CSI oils covering seven spa roles — mint-eucalyptus, herbal floral, green tea, citrus-herbal, wood, aquatic, floral.
Sizes: 15 g for all ten (one 8% candle each), 50 g for six survivors (6%, 8%, 10% and a retest), 500 g or 1 kg for three.
Kill rules: fails the blind cold sniff; flat at 8% hot; needs 10% to pass; duplicates a role another oil does better; no stock depth at 500 g.
Bulk budget: ₹24,330.46 for 100 candles, ₹59,629.26 for 250, ₹118,265.40 for 500, materials only.
The spa elimination funnel: 10 → 6 → 3 Worked example with CSI oils. Money in, oils out at every stage. Bulk only for survivors. ROUND 1 · 10 oils × 15 g ₹1,021.24 oils · ₹2,999.24 with wax, jars, wicks Kill: fails cold sniff or dead at 8% hot ROUND 2 · 6 oils × 50 g ₹1,590.61 oils · ₹6,874.61 with materials Kill: needs 10% to pass or loses its role ROUND 3 · 3 oils × 500 g / 1 kg ₹24,330.46 for 100 candles Kill later: under half the line average LAUNCH · 3 scents ₹59,629.26 at 250 candles Reorder at three weeks of cover Test spend before any bulk: ₹9,873.85 for both rounds. Buying all ten at 50 g instead would cost ₹2,867.91 in oil alone. Survivors are a worked example. CSI live pricing, verified 24 September 2026.
Each stage spends more per oil on fewer oils. Round 1 costs ₹102.12 per oil on average; Round 3 is where the kilogram packs appear, and only for three scents that have already passed two blind tests.
Straight answer
I want to launch a spa candle collection. Which 5–10 fragrances should I test before I buy in bulk?
Test ten, in two rounds, and buy bulk for three. Round 1: 15 g each of Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea, Lemongrass and Lime, Sandalwood, Verbena, Blue Ocean, Ylang Ylang, Palo Santo and Jasmine Coconut — ₹1,021.24 for the oils — one 8% candle each, judged blind. Round 2: 50 g of the six that survive, poured at 6%, 8% and 10% with a retest. Round 3: 500 g or 1 kg of the best three, one per role, sized to the number of candles you can sell before your next order. If your six survivors match our worked example, the two test rounds cost ₹9,873.85 including wax, jars and wicks, and a 250-candle launch of three scents costs ₹59,629.26 in materials.
One line: spend a little on ten, more on six and real money on three — and write the kill rules down before the first candle is lit.
Round 1 in one order. Ten spa oils at 15 g cost ₹1,021.24, an average of ₹102.12 each. Eucalyptus Spearmint is the cheapest sample at ₹68.44.

Why a funnel beats a shortlist

A shortlist tells you what to like. A funnel tells you what to drop, and when.

Spa, as a candle style, is eucalyptus and mint, green tea and cucumber, lemongrass and verbena, soft florals and clean woods: fresh, green and quiet rather than sweet or smoky. The hub, Buy Spa Fragrance Oils for Candle Making in India, explains the style and gives the shortlist; this page is for the buyer who has read it and now has to decide which of those scents deserve money, in what order.

The reason to test ten rather than five is that spa is the style where your own nose is least reliable. Fresh top notes — citrus, mint, green — are the first part of a fragrance a burning candle spends, so the oils that smell best from the bottle are often the ones that fade fastest in the room. How spa families behave in soy is covered in Luxury Spa Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles; the practical consequence is that you need more candidates going in, because more of them will fail on the burn. The reason to bulk only three is the opposite problem: spa scents overlap, and three strong, distinct scents sell better than six that customers cannot tell apart.

The funnel in numbers · worked example
Each round buys less oil per candidate than the last, until the candidates have earned it
Stage Oils Size Candles poured Spend Question answered
Round 1 10 15 g 10 (one at 8%) ₹2,999.24 Does it belong in a spa line at all?
Round 2 6 50 g 24 (6%, 8%, 10%, retest) ₹6,874.61 What is its lowest working load, and which role does it win?
Round 3 3 500 g / 1 kg 100 / 250 / 500 ₹24,330.46 / ₹59,629.26 / ₹118,265.40 How much can I sell before the next order?
After launch 3 (+1 rotating) reorder packs ongoing per trigger Reorder, upgrade to 1 kg, or retire?
Argued against our own interest: the alternative to this funnel — buying ten oils at 50 g "to be thorough" — costs ₹2,867.91 in oil. That is ₹256.06 more oil spend than Round 1 plus Round 2, for extra grams of oils that fail at the sniff stage. We would sell you those grams. You do not need them.

The ten to test, ranked

Ranked on what we can show: whether the product page states a candle load, per-gram price at 1 kg (the price you will pay if the oil survives), stock depth across sizes on 24 September 2026, and how distinct its role is from the others. Rank is test order and a prior, not a verdict: your burns decide. CSI has no throw measurements for these oils.

The ten spa oils · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Rank = order to test. Role pairs (citrus-herbal, wood, floral) compete in Round 2
# Oil Role Stated candle load 15 g ₹/g at 1 kg Stock Why it is on the list
1 Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil cool mint-eucalyptus up to 10% soy ₹68.44 ₹3.07 all sizes in stock cheapest per gram at 1 kg of the ten; page calls it IFRA-certified
2 Lavender Fragrance Oil herbal floral 6–10% candles ₹105.02 ₹5.22 all sizes in stock in our judgement, the spa family buyers most often expect
3 Cucumber Green Tea green tea "8-10% … per pound of wax" ₹93.22 ₹3.33 all sizes in stock the fresh-tea note; flat after 500 g
4 Lemongrass and Lime citrus-herbal 6–10% candles ₹116.52 ₹5.20 all sizes in stock ginger and cedar under the citrus: more structure than most
5 Sandalwood Fragrance Oil soft wood up to 10% soy ₹93.22 ₹5.03 all sizes in stock the base that makes a spa line feel finished
6 Verbena Fragrance Oil citrus-herbal up to 10% soy ₹106.20 ₹4.72 all sizes in stock lemony herbal; strong 1 kg saving
7 Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil aquatic up to 10% candles ₹93.22 ₹4.96 all sizes in stock sea-salt ozone; bigger is not cheaper per gram
8 Ylang Ylang Flower Fragrance Oil rich floral up to 10% soy ₹106.20 ₹5.31 all sizes in stock sweet, creamy floral for the evening treatment room
9 Palo Santo Fragrance Oil resinous wood up to 10% soy ₹106.20 ₹6.02 all sizes in stock earthy incense note; flat per gram from 50 g
10 Jasmine Coconut creamy floral not stated ₹133.00 ₹8.00 all sizes in stock coconut milk and jasmine sambac; no candle load stated

Three pairs are deliberately on the list together because they do the same job differently: Lemongrass and Lime vs Verbena (citrus-herbal), Sandalwood vs Palo Santo (the wood base), and Ylang Ylang vs Jasmine Coconut (the floral). Round 2 keeps only one of each pair. Left off the ten, with reasons: Sage and Cedarwood has no 15 g, so it cannot enter a 15 g screen (test it in Round 2 if it is your wood preference); Neroli reads hotel reception more than treatment room, in our judgement; and Lavender Oud – Calm Meets Kingdom starts at 100 g for ₹1,200.00, is a perfume-grade listing with no candle load stated, and costs ₹12.00/g at 1 kg.

The six we would expect to watch closely

1
rank 1 · cool mint-eucalyptus
Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil
The most "spa" of the ten by association and the cheapest to scale: "combining crisp eucalyptus with cool spearmint", "Recommended fragrance load up to 10% for soy wax, up to 6% for paraffin". The page describes it as "IFRA-certified" — that is the page's wording; ask for documents on WhatsApp. At 1 kg it is ₹3.07/g, 28% below its 50 g. Limitation: mint is a sharp top note, so it is the oil most likely to smell stronger cold than hot; that is precisely what Round 1's hot test is for.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹68.44 ₹4.56 1
50 g ₹212.40 ₹4.25 4
100 g ₹354.00 ₹3.54 8
500 g ₹1,652.00 ₹3.30 41
1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹3.07 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹54.75 at 15 g, ₹36.82 at 1 kg. The 15 g is 7% dearer per gram than the 50 g. Buy Eucalyptus Spearmint
2
rank 2 · herbal floral
Lavender Fragrance Oil
In our judgement, the spa family buyers most often expect to find. Stated notes: "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes, and soft musk base"; stated load "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles"; the page calls it "A strong, IFRA-certified lavender fragrance oil". It is also the oil with the most customer reviews among these ten, including 4-star ones. Limitation: the 1 kg is only 3% cheaper per gram than the 50 g, so bulk buys you convenience more than price. Label it for its scent, not for sleep or stress: those are claims you cannot make.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 g ₹270.00 ₹5.40 4
100 g ₹540.00 ₹5.40 8
500 g ₹2,620.00 ₹5.24 41
1 kg ₹5,221.00 ₹5.22 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹84.02 at 15 g, ₹62.65 at 1 kg. Buy Lavender
3
rank 3 · green tea
Cucumber Green Tea
The fresh-tea note: "Top Notes: Crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves | Heart Notes: Delicate jasmine, hints of lemon | Base Notes: Clean musk, light woods". The page says "we recommend using 8-10% fragrance oil per pound of wax"; we read it as a percentage of total weight and still pour a 6% control in Round 2. Cheap and deep: ₹3.33/g at 500 g and 1 kg alike. Limitation: "light woods" is a light base; if it fades by the second hour, it is a summer rotating scent rather than a core one.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹176.41 ₹3.53 4
100 g ₹352.82 ₹3.53 8
500 g ₹1,663.80 ₹3.33 41
1 kg ₹3,327.60 ₹3.33 83
Oil per 8% candle at 500 g or 1 kg: ₹39.93. Buy Cucumber Green Tea
4
rank 4 · citrus-herbal
Lemongrass and Lime
The most structured citrus on the list: "zesty lime and fresh lemongrass top notes, light ginger and herbal middle notes, and subtle cedarwood and soft musk base", "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles". The cedar and musk base gives it a better chance of lasting than a pure citrus, which is why it outranks Verbena. Limitation: its 15 g (₹116.52) is the dearest of the ten after Jasmine Coconut's, and 500 g and 1 kg are the same per gram (₹5.20), so there is no reason to buy the kilogram for price.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹116.52 ₹7.77 1
50 g ₹330.00 ₹6.60 4
100 g ₹590.00 ₹5.90 8
500 g ₹2,600.00 ₹5.20 41
1 kg ₹5,200.00 ₹5.20 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹93.22 at 15 g, ₹62.40 at 500 g. Buy Lemongrass and Lime
5
rank 5 · soft wood base
Sandalwood Fragrance Oil
The base that makes a spa line feel finished rather than like a row of room fresheners: "warm, creamy, luxurious single-note sandalwood", "Recommended load up to 10% for soy, up to 6% for paraffin". It has no top of its own, so judge it on the second hour and after blow-out, not on the first ten minutes. Limitation: on its own it reads "sandalwood candle"; in a spa line it is the evening or massage-room scent, never the only one. Flat at ₹5.03/g from 100 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 g ₹502.68 ₹5.03 8
500 g ₹2,513.40 ₹5.03 41
1 kg ₹5,026.80 ₹5.03 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹74.58 at 15 g, ₹60.32 from 100 g up. Buy Sandalwood
6
rank 10 · creamy floral · the wild card
Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon
The most distinctive oil on the list and the least evidenced: "Top Notes: Coconut Milk, Bergamot | Heart Notes: Jasmine Sambac, Tiare Flower | Base Notes: Vanilla Cream, Sandalwood, Soft Musk". The page does not state a candle load; its "Ideal as EDP (18–22%)" is a perfume rate, not a candle load, so work inside your wax ceiling and test 6%, 8% and 10%. It is priced flat at ₹8.00/g from 100 g — 2.6 times Eucalyptus Spearmint at 1 kg. It is on the list because it could become your signature; it is ranked last because everything about it has to be proven by your own burns.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹133.00 ₹8.87 1
50 g ₹399.00 ₹7.98 4
100 g ₹799.00 ₹7.99 8
500 g ₹3,999.00 ₹8.00 41
1 kg ₹7,999.00 ₹8.00 83
Oil per 8% candle at 100 g: ₹95.88 — the dearest of the ten. Buy Jasmine Coconut

Round 1: the 15 g screen

Ten bottles, ten candles, one question each: does this belong?

Round 1 is deliberately crude. A 15 g bottle makes exactly one 150 g candle at 8% (12 g of oil), with 3 g left for a cold sniff from the bottle. You are not finding the best load yet; you are removing oils that would never sell in a spa line whatever the load. The screen uses Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — its page gives a pour temperature of 58–60°C and a maximum load of 13% — but every one of these oils with a stated load tops out at 10%, and the lower of the two ceilings governs, so 10% is your working ceiling throughout.

Round 1 basket

The Round 1 kill rules

Decide these before the parcel arrives. An oil leaves the funnel if any of the following is true.

Round 1 · four ways out
Any one of these removes the oil; no appeals
Rule How you judge it Typical casualty (our expectation, not data)
K1 · Wrong style Two of three blind testers do not call it "spa", "fresh" or "clean" from the jar Rich florals and aquatics
K2 · Flat hot Doorway score below 3 of 5 at one hour, at 8% Sharp top notes: citrus, mint
K3 · Gone at blow-out Nothing left five minutes after the flame is out Oils with light bases
K4 · Six-cap If more than six survive, keep the six with the highest doorway scores The weaker of each role pair

K4 is what keeps Round 2 affordable. Six oils at 50 g, three loads each plus a retest, is 24 candles; eight would be 32, a third more wax, jars and time for a result you will cut anyway. The worked example below assumes Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea, Lemongrass and Lime, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang survive. Your six will differ, and the costs move by a few hundred rupees at most.

Mistake: killing an oil because you personally dislike it. Fix: three testers, blind, and K1 needs two of them. Lavender and ylang ylang in particular split opinion; if you are the only person in the room who dislikes one, it stays.

Round 2: three loads for six survivors

Round 2 buys 50 g of each survivor: 9 g, 12 g and 15 g for the 6%, 8% and 10% candles, and 12 g for a retest at the winning load, which is 48 g. Now you are measuring, not screening.

The Round 2 keep rules

Three oils go forward. To be one of them, an oil must pass all of these, in order.

1
Lowest working load is 8% or lessThe doorway score at one hour must be 3 or more at 6% or 8%. An oil that only passes at 10% is not dead, but it goes to the back of the queue: 10% costs 3 g more oil per candle, and on Jasmine Coconut at the 100 g price that is a significant cost.
2
It wins its roleOnly one oil per role goes forward. If Lemongrass and Lime and Verbena both survived Round 1, the one with the higher doorway score at its lowest working load wins; ties go to the cheaper oil at 1 kg.
3
It holds at two hoursSpa scents are often burned for long sessions. Score the doorway again at two hours; a drop of two points or more means a rotating or summer scent, not a core one.
4
The three together cover fresh, green and softLook at the three winners as a set. Three mints or three florals is not a collection. The strongest usual pattern is one cool (eucalyptus-mint or citrus-herbal), one green or herbal-floral (tea or lavender), one soft base (wood or creamy floral).
5
Each is in stock at 500 g and 1 kgCheck the product page on the day you decide. All ten oils in this plan were in stock at every size on 24 September 2026; if a size has gone out of stock, ask on WhatsApp before the oil becomes a hero.
6
The retest confirms itPour the retest at the chosen load and burn it after the same cure. If it does not repeat the result, the oil goes back to a 50 g second cycle, not into bulk.
Wick is a variable only once
Start every Round 2 candle on Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1). If the melt pool has not reached the glass after two to three hours, pour the retest with Thick (C2) instead. The jar's diameter decides the wick, and it is not stated in the listing, so the melt-pool test is the answer; other options are in the candle wicks collection.

Round 3: bulk for three, at three scales

This is the first time the kilogram is the right answer — for some oils.

In the worked example the three survivors are Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender and Cucumber Green Tea, split 40% / 35% / 25%. Each is bought as the cheapest combination of in-stock 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg packs covering its grams. The three scales are 100 candles (a first season or a single studio order), 250 (a full launch) and 500 (a production run or a supply contract; batch maths for bigger spa orders is in Bulk Spa Fragrance Oils for Candle Manufacturers).

Where 1 kg pays in a spa line, and where it does not

Spa oils are unusual in this series: several have a real bulk discount. Across the ten, the 1 kg is 28% cheaper per gram than the 50 g for Eucalyptus Spearmint, 29% for Verbena, 21% for Lemongrass and Lime, 20% for Ylang Ylang, 6% for Cucumber Green Tea, 3% for Lavender and 7% for Sandalwood. Eucalyptus Spearmint even gets cheaper between 500 g and 1 kg: two 500 g packs cost ₹3,304.00 against ₹3,068.00 for the kilogram, ₹236.00 more, and the 1 kg is 7% cheaper per gram than the 500 g — ₹2.83 of oil per candle. Lavender saves ₹0.23 a candle at 1 kg over 500 g.

And where it does not: Blue Ocean gets fractionally dearer per gram as the pack grows (₹4.94 at 50 g, ₹4.96 at 1 kg). Palo Santo is flat at ₹6.02 from 50 g. Jasmine Coconut is flat at ₹8.00 from 100 g to 1 kg. Cucumber Green Tea and Lemongrass and Lime stop falling at 500 g. If one of those wins a role, stay in 100 g or 500 g packs and buy more often.

Worked example of the spread inside one spa line, at 8% in CSI 468 (₹87.91 of wax at ₹0.64/g), a 150 g clear jar (₹94.40) and a C1 wick (₹5.90): a Eucalyptus Spearmint candle at the 1 kg price costs ₹225.02 in materials; a Jasmine Coconut candle at the 100 g price costs ₹284.09. The ₹59.06 difference is all oil. Both exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. A frosted look (the Clear Frosted Glass Jar, pack of 10 ₹708.00, ₹70.80 each) is cheaper per jar, but its fill capacity is not stated in the listing, so weigh a water fill before you cost it. Premium spa vessels and per-candle cost are covered in Luxury Spa Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles; ready-priced spa kits in Spa Fragrance Oil Collection for Candle Businesses.

Argued against our own interest: the 500-candle column is the order we would most like. Do not place it before you have sold a single spa candle. The per-candle material cost at 500 is ₹236.53 against ₹243.30 at 100: a saving of ₹6.77 a candle, most of it the 1 kg oil discount. Real, but small beside the risk of 500 unsold candles. The 100-candle order gives you sales data; the 500-candle order gives you a storeroom.
Bulk for survivors only. Once your three are chosen, send us the list and the scale on WhatsApp. We will confirm 500 g and 1 kg stock, a GST invoice and a dispatch date; MSDS and IFRA documents on request.

The dated calendar, from order to Christmas shelf

Assuming you order Round 1 on 28 September 2026 and it arrives by 3 October — confirm your dispatch date on WhatsApp and slide every date if needed — both rounds finish before Diwali and bulk production lands in time for Christmas and year-end gifting.

5 Nov Burn retests; apply the keep rules; order Round 3 bulk Three winners
8 Nov Diwali — use the week for labels and photography —
12 Nov Production pour; seven-day cure —
19 Nov onward Spa line on sale for Christmas (25 December 2026) and New Year gifting Reorder triggers start

Seven days of cure is our judgement for a fair comparison: these pages do not state a cure time, and at least 48–72 hours, longer for soy, is common practice. Score on day 3 as well as day 7 if you want to know how early you can ship. If you miss this window, the same calendar started in early February lands a spa launch in March, ahead of Indian summer (roughly April to June), when the cool end of the line — Eucalyptus Spearmint, Cucumber Green Tea — usually does its heaviest work.

After launch: reorder and re-test triggers

The funnel does not end at launch. Four triggers keep the line honest.

Four triggers
Check every Monday; act on the first one that fires
Trigger Fires when Action
Reorder Stock of an oil falls below three weeks of use (worked example: one week delivery, one week pour and cure, one week safety) Order the pack that covers four to eight weeks
Upgrade to 1 kg An oil uses more than 500 g a month and its 1 kg is cheaper per gram than its 500 g (true for Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender, Verbena and Ylang Ylang; not for Cucumber Green Tea, Lemongrass and Lime, Sandalwood, Palo Santo, Blue Ocean or Jasmine Coconut) Switch the reorder pack to 1 kg
Retire After eight weeks, an oil sells below half the line average Sell through; do not reorder; promote the Round 2 runner-up for that role
Re-test A season changes (summer from April, monsoon from June) or a customer asks for a scent you killed Run a one-oil Round 2 at 50 g before adding it

Keep your Round 2 score sheet: the runner-up in each role is your pre-tested replacement, and promoting it costs one 50 g retest, not a new funnel. If you also run a hotel-style line, the three-heroes launch plan in I'm Launching a Hotel-Inspired Candle Collection — Which Fragrance Oils Should I Buy First? uses the same scoring, and the question of how many floral, woody, fresh and gourmand scents a mixed luxury line needs is answered in I'm Building a 10-Fragrance Luxury Candle Collection — How Many Floral, Woody, Fresh and Gourmand Fragrances Should I Test?.

What you must not write on the label: any claim that a candle changes how someone feels or sleeps, or that it treats a condition. Fragrance oils are not essential oils and a candle is not a treatment. Describe scent character and associations instead — "cool eucalyptus and spearmint", "a scent many people associate with calm". How to write spa and wellness copy without claims is covered in Relaxing Fragrance Oils for Candle Making and Wellness-Inspired Candle Fragrance Oils in India.
Christmas 25 December 2026: the bulk order date in this calendar is 5 November. If Eucalyptus Spearmint or Lavender wins and you are ordering at the 250- or 500-candle scale, the 1 kg is the right pack — ₹3,068.00 and ₹5,221.00 — and 83 candles each at 8%. Confirm stock and dispatch before you commit to customer dates.

The CSI principle
Screen wide, test deep, buy narrow.
Fifteen grams to ask whether an oil belongs, fifty to learn how it behaves, a kilogram only for the few that have answered both — and only where the kilogram is actually cheaper.
"A spa line is judged in the second hour of a burn, not in the first second of a sniff. Test for the second hour."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil, wax, jar and wick named here, and does not sell finished candles. This plan asks you to buy 15 g of ten oils before 50 g of six, and bulk of three; it tells you which of our kilogram packs do not save money per gram and advises against the largest order until you have sales.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was checked on CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. All ten test oils were in stock at every listed size on that date. Candle loads and notes are quoted from each product page; where a page states no candle load, we say so.

The ranking, kill and keep rules, the survivors in the worked example, the split, the seven-day cure and the calendar are editorial judgement, not test results; CSI has no throw measurements for these oils. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How many fragrance oils should I test for a spa candle line?
Ten at a screening stage, six at a three-load stage, and bulk for three. Fewer than ten leaves spa families untested; bulk for more than three before you have sold anything ties up money in scents that compete with each other.
What are the best spa fragrance oils for candles in India?
At CSI the ten worth testing are Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea, Lemongrass and Lime, Sandalwood, Verbena, Blue Ocean, Ylang Ylang, Palo Santo and Jasmine Coconut. "Best" is decided by your own blind burns; we rank them on stated load, per-gram price, stock and role, not on throw data, which we do not have.
Is a 15 g fragrance sample enough to test?
Enough to screen: one 150 g candle at 8% plus a cold sniff. Not enough to find a load. Use 15 g to remove oils, then 50 g of the survivors to test 6%, 8% and 10% with a retest.
Is eucalyptus spearmint fragrance oil cheaper in 1 kg?
Yes. On 24 September 2026 it is ₹4.25/g at 50 g, ₹3.30/g at 500 g and ₹3.07/g at 1 kg, and the 1 kg (₹3,068.00) costs less than two 500 g packs (₹3,304.00).
How much does it cost to launch a spa candle collection?
In the worked example, testing ten oils and then six costs ₹9,873.85 including wax, jars and wicks. Bulk materials for three scents cost ₹24,330.46 for 100 candles, ₹59,629.26 for 250 and ₹118,265.40 for 500, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Can I say my spa candle helps with stress or sleep?
No. Do not make health or wellbeing claims about stress, sleep or mood on a candle label or listing. Fragrance oils are not essential oils. Describe the scent and what people associate it with — fresh, green, calm-feeling — and nothing more.
