Candle Beginner Guides · Working Backwards From the Finished Candle
Six steps, in one fixed order, and every one of them is arithmetic rather than opinion. The only place the chain breaks is the jar — because most jars publish millilitres and your recipe is in grams.
₹173.48–₹270.56
materials in one finished 200 g scented soy candle — 184 g wax + 16 g oil at 8%, plus jar, wick and sticker — across three real CSI builds · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much wax is in a 200 g candle? At an 8% fragrance load, 184 g of wax and 16 g of oil — because load is a percentage of the finished candle, not something added on top of the wax. At 10% it is 180 g and 20 g.

Which jar holds a 200 g candle? This is the one hard step. No in-stock CSI jar page states a 200 g fill — the nearest stated figures are 150 g, 180 g and 300 g, and the popular "200 ml" jars state volume, not weight. Wax is lighter than water, so a 200 ml jar will not hold 200 g of wax. Pour one, weigh it, and use that number.

How much wax do I buy? A 1 kg pack makes five 200 g candles, not six: 6 × 184 g is 1,104 g before you allow anything for what stays in the jug. For six, buy two kilos or a 5 kg pack, which covers about 27.

Which wick? From the jar's diameter, never from the 200 g. The 200 ml Salsa Amber jar page is unusual in stating one: "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks." Treat that as your starting bracket, then burn-test.
The short answer
Finished weight first, and it is yours to choose: 200 g is a product decision, not a technical one. Everything downstream is derived from it, which is why deciding it first stops the guessing.
Split it with the load before you shop: 200 g at 8% is 184 g + 16 g. Write both numbers down; they are the two quantities you will buy against for the rest of the year.
Buy the jar in grams if you can, and weigh it if you can't: a stated fill weight saves you a test pour. A stated capacity in millilitres does not, and pretending otherwise is how batches come out short.

The cascade — each step is decided by the one above it, and never the other way round 1 · Finished weight 200 g — your product decision, the only free choice in the chain 2 · Load 8% 184 g wax + 16 g oil 3 · Jar must hold 200 g of wax + oil — in grams, or weighed by you 4 · Batch 6 candles = 1,104 g wax + 96 g oil (1,148 g with 4% allowance) 5 · Pack size 1 kg = 5 candles · 5 kg = 27 6 · Wick from the jar's diameter — not from the 200 g Bar length shows how much is still open to you at each step, narrowing as the chain resolves.
The order matters more than any single number. Every beginner who buys a wick before a jar, or a jar before deciding the finished weight, ends up re-buying one of them — and the wick is the step that depends on the most decisions above it.
Straight answer
How do I get from "I want a 200 g candle" to a shopping list?
Split the 200 g first. At an 8% load a finished 200 g candle is 184 g of wax and 16 g of fragrance oil; at 10% it is 180 g and 20 g; at 13% it is 174 g and 26 g. Then find a jar that will actually take that. This is where the chain snags, and honestly so: no CSI jar currently in stock publishes a 200 g fill weight — the stated figures nearby are 150 g on the lidded 150 gram jars, 180 grams on the Ceramic Jar and 500–700 g on the Apothecary jar, while the popular 200 ml Salsa jars and the 200 ml matte jars state a volume. Millilitres are not grams, and wax is lighter than water, so a jar sold as 200 ml holds less than 200 g of wax: pour one candle, weigh it, and that weight becomes your recipe. Next, the wax quantity. Six candles need 1,104 g of wax and 96 g of oil, which is 1,148 g with a 4% allowance for what stays in the jug — so a 1 kg pack makes five, and a 5 kg pack makes about 27. Then the oil: a 100 g bottle covers six 200 g candles at 8%, a 500 g bottle about 31. Last, and only last, the wick — chosen from the jar's diameter, bracketed across C1 at ₹5.90 and C2 at ₹9.44, and burn-tested. Materials per candle land between ₹173.48 and ₹270.56 depending on which wax, oil and jar you pick.
One line: 200 g finished = 184 g wax + 16 g oil at 8%; the jar must be proven in grams, the pack follows the batch, and the wick follows the diameter.
The full 200 g build: 200 ml Salsa jar from ₹29.50, Eco Soy CSI 400 1 kg ₹399, Sandalwood 100 gm ₹502.68, Eco Candle Wicks C2 at ₹9.44, wick stickers ₹2.50 each.

The six-step chain, in order

Most beginners shop in exactly the wrong order: a jar they liked, a wick someone recommended, and then arithmetic to make the two agree.

A candle recipe has one free variable and five derived ones. The free variable is the finished weight, because that is a product and pricing decision — what your customer holds, what it costs, what it burns for. Everything else follows from it in a fixed order, and each step depends only on the steps above it. Reverse any two and you will buy something twice.

The dependency order · why each step waits for the one above
What each step decides, and what it cannot decide
Step Decides Depends on For a 200 g candle at 8% What goes wrong if you do it earlier
1 · Finished weight The product Nothing — it is your choice 200 g Nothing; this is the starting point
2 · Fragrance load The wax/oil split Your wax's stated ceiling and your oil's stated load 184 g wax + 16 g oil You buy the wrong quantity of both
3 · Jar Diameter and true fill weight Step 1 — the jar must hold 200 g A jar proven to take 200 g of wax and oil A beautiful jar that holds 150 g, and a recipe you have to redo
4 · Batch size Total wax and oil needed Steps 1–2 and how many you want 6 candles = 1,104 g + 96 g You over- or under-buy on the first order
5 · Pack size What you actually add to the cart Step 4 plus a wastage allowance 1 kg makes 5; 5 kg makes about 27 You buy 1 kg for six candles and come up short
6 · Wick Burn behaviour Step 3's diameter, the wax and the load Bracket C1 and C2 in the chosen jar A wick chosen for a weight instead of a width — the commonest beginner error there is
Write the chain on one line and keep it
200 g · 8% · 184 + 16 · jar ___ (weighed) · Ø ___ cm · wick ___ · pour ___°C. That single line is your formula, and the blanks are the four things only your own test can fill. Every reorder, every scaled batch and every new scent refers back to it. A recipe that lives in your head is a recipe you will have to rediscover in six weeks.

Step 1 — the jar that actually holds 200 g

Start here rather than with the wax, because this is the step with a genuine catch, and nobody warns beginners about it. Candle jars are described in two different units. Some pages state a fill weight in grams, which is exactly what your recipe needs. Others state a capacity in millilitres, which is a volume — useful for a jam jar, not directly usable for a wax recipe.

The conversion is not one-to-one, and you should not invent a factor for it. What you can rely on is the direction: wax is lighter than water, so a jar that holds 200 ml of water will hold less than 200 g of wax filled to the same level — and you will be filling to a line below the rim, not to the brim, which takes a little more off again. The only trustworthy number is the one you measure. Pour one candle in the jar you have chosen, weigh what went in, and that is the fill weight for every batch afterwards.

Glass Clip Top Container "Wax Fill - 550g" Grams 11 cm × 11 cm × 10 cm ₹229
Priced above: per-piece figures are the listed pack price divided by the pack count — Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid pack of 10 ₹944; Salsa Amber pack of 5 ₹310, pack of 50 ₹3,100, pack of 100 ₹6,200 (a flat ₹62 each); Salsa clear 5 Pcs ₹200.60 (₹40.12 each), 50 Pcs ₹1,475 and 100 Pcs ₹2,950 (₹29.50 each); White Matte Glass Jar pack of 5 ₹354 (₹70.80 each); Ceramic Jar, White Iridescent, Borosilicate 600 gram and Clip Top are single-unit listings. All capacities are quoted verbatim, in the unit the page uses. Note that the White Matte page uses the phrase "fill weight" while giving a millilitre figure — read the unit, not the label.

So what do you actually buy for a 200 g candle? Three honest routes. One: take a 200 ml jar — the Salsa at ₹29.50 in hundreds is the cheapest glass in this class — pour one, weigh it, and accept whatever number comes out as your candle's true finished weight. Two: move the target to a jar that publishes a weight near yours — the Ceramic Jar states "Fill Weight: 180 grams" at ₹129.80, which is a 180 g candle with no measuring at all: 165.6 g of wax and 14.4 g of oil at 8%. Three: change the target. A 150 g candle in a jar that states 150 g is a cleaner product than a 200 g candle in a jar that has to be measured, and the maths is identical — 138 g of wax and 12 g of oil.

The mistake: treating "200 ml" as "200 g" and ordering a hundred jars. It is an easy error to make, because the number is the same and one page even uses the phrase "fill weight of 200 ml". The consequence is not dramatic but it is annoying and expensive: your 200 g recipe overflows, you cut the fill, and now every cost, every burn time and every label on a hundred jars is wrong. Spend ₹200.60 on a pack of five first, pour one, weigh it, and then buy the hundred. The two CSI jars whose pages do state "Fill Weight 200 gm" — the bamboo-lid pair — are both currently sold out, which is exactly why this step needs a test rather than a search.

Step 2 — splitting 200 g into wax and oil

Fragrance load is a percentage of the finished candle, not an amount added on top of the wax. That single convention decides every quantity in this guide, and getting it the wrong way round is the most common arithmetic error in beginner candle making.

Worth knowing: the other convention exists too. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page phrases its recommendation as "8% to 13% of total wax weight", which is a share of the wax rather than of the finished candle. The difference at these percentages is small — 8% of 184 g is 14.7 g against 16 g — but it is real, so pick one convention, state it on your recipe line, and stay with it. Everything in this guide is a share of the finished candle, the same convention CSI's own guides use.

The split at four loads · share of finished candle weight
What a 200 g candle contains, and which waxes publish each ceiling
Load Wax Oil Waxes whose stated ceiling covers it When to use it
6% 188 g 12 g Every CSI container wax The bottom of most oils' stated bands — a deliberately quiet candle
8% 184 g 16 g Every CSI container wax The default first pour — inside every stated range in the catalogue
10% 180 g 20 g Chunks (up to 13%), CSI 464 (up to 10%), CSI 468 (up to 13%) After a full cure and a burn test say the throw needs it
13% 174 g 26 g Chunks and CSI 468 only Only where both the wax page and the oil page state 13%

Two practical notes on choosing between those rows. First, the ceiling that binds you is the lower of your wax's stated figure and your oil's stated figure — Sandalwood states "Up to 10% for soy wax", so a 13% wax does not give you 13% with that oil. Second, moving up the table costs money quickly: at ₹5.0268 a gram, Sandalwood in one 200 g candle is ₹80.43 at 8% and ₹130.70 at 13%. Raising the load is the most expensive lever on the bench and, as the throw guide sets out, rarely the most effective one.

Step 3 — wax quantity, per candle and per pack

184 g per candle is the number you multiply. What trips people is the allowance: wax stays in the jug, on the spatula and in the top-up you do when the surface sinks. Plan on 3–5% more than the arithmetic — an allowance, not a specification — and the pack you need changes at the margin.

Wax needed by batch size · 184 g per candle plus a 4% allowance
How many 200 g candles each listed pack really makes
Candles Wax, exact With 4% allowance Oil at 8% Smallest pack that covers it
1 184 g 191 g 16 g 500 g pack — or the tail of a kilo
5 920 g 957 g 80 g 1 kg — this is what a kilo really makes
6 1,104 g 1,148 g 96 g Two 1 kg packs, or 500 g + 1 kg
10 1,840 g 1,914 g 160 g Two 1 kg packs — with 86 g to spare, which is tight
27 4,968 g 5,167 g 432 g 5 kg covers 26 comfortably, 27 only with no spillage
"One kilo makes six 200 g candles" — no, it makes five. Six candles are 1,104 g of wax before any allowance, so a kilo is already 104 g short; add the jug residue and you are nearer 150 g short. This is the single most common miscount in beginner planning, and it usually shows up as a sixth candle poured two-thirds full. If you need six, buy 1.5 kg or two kilos. And when you scale, note that CSI's listed price per kilo is flat or nearly flat across pack sizes on most soy waxes — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are ₹599 a kilo at 1 kg, 5 kg and effectively at 10 kg — so buying the larger pack is a convenience decision, not a saving. Only two step down: Natural Soy Pearl Wax from ₹450 to ₹424.80, and CSI 468 from ₹650 to ₹637.

Step 4 — the fragrance amount, and what it costs

16 g per candle is a small number that dominates the cost sheet. Across CSI's single-note candle oils, 16 g ranges from about ₹34 to over ₹100, which is a wider spread than the entire soy wax range contributes to the same candle. This is the line to get right before you buy a bottle size.

16 g of oil per 200 g candle · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Six oils, what one candle's worth costs, and how many candles a bottle makes
Oil Stated candle load 15 gm 100 gm Per gram at 100 gm 16 g per candle Candles from 100 gm
Citrus Lemon 6–10% for soy wax candles ₹81.42 ₹300 ₹3 ₹48 6
British Rose Up to 10% for soy wax ₹94.40 ₹342.20 ₹3.42 ₹54.75 6
Fresh Strawberries 6–9% for candles ₹113.28 ₹377.60 ₹3.78 ₹60.42 6
Gardenia Up to 10% for soy wax ₹105.02 ₹433 ₹4.33 ₹69.28 6
Sandalwood Up to 10% for soy wax ₹93.22 ₹502.68 ₹5.03 ₹80.43 6
Lavender 6–10% for candles ₹105.02 ₹540 ₹5.40 ₹86.40 6

Every row makes six candles from 100 g, because 6 × 16 g is 96 g — which makes the 100 gm bottle the natural partner for a six-candle plan and the 15 gm size almost useless for pouring: 15 g is under one candle's worth. Keep 15 gm bottles for smelling and shortlisting, and buy 100 gm of whatever survives that. At the other end, a 500 gm bottle covers about 31 candles at 8% and lowers the per-gram price on most oils — Lavender goes from ₹5.40 to ₹5.24 a gram, Citrus Lemon from ₹3 to ₹2.84.

Weigh the oil into the wax, not the wax into the oil
Put the jug of melted wax on the scale at ₹354, note the reading, then pour oil in until the reading has risen by exactly 16 g per candle in the batch. It is faster than measuring separately and it removes the most common source of drift — oil left clinging inside a measuring cup. Add at the temperature your wax page states and stir for a full two minutes; the Eco Soy CSI 400 page is specific about both.

Step 5 — the wick comes from the diameter, not the 200 g

There is no such thing as a wick for a 200 g candle. There are wicks for a 7 cm pool.

A wick's work is measured across the candle, not down it. Two 200 g candles — one tall and narrow, one short and wide — need different wicks, because the wick has to keep a pool of molten wax reaching the glass and the distance to the glass is the diameter. This is why "what wick for 200 g?" is unanswerable and why a wick recommendation copied from a recipe with a different jar usually disappoints.

CSI's wick pages are honest about this, which means most of them state no diameter range at all. One jar page, unusually, states a pairing instead: the 200 ml Salsa Amber jar says "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks." Treat that as a starting bracket rather than a final answer — it is the supplier's suggestion for that glass, not a test of your wax, your oil and your load.

Eco Candle Wicks · Thin (C1) Not stated ₹5.90 10 wicks ₹59 The thin half of your bracket; the page states they "pair perfectly with soy wax"
Eco Candle Wicks · Thick (C2) Not stated ₹9.44 20 wicks ₹188.80 The size the Salsa Amber jar page names; the thick half of the bracket
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm" ₹12 Pack of 10 ₹120 Only if your 200 g candle is unusually wide
Performance Wooden Wicks (Imported) Not stated ₹59 at 10 · ₹41.30 at 100 Pack of 10 ₹590 An aesthetic choice; a deliberate variable, not a first-test one
Candle Wick Stickers Page states a 10 mm diameter ₹2.50 40 stickers ₹100 Not optional — it is what keeps the wick central while the wax sets
Don't buy 100 wicks for your first 200 g batch. The C1 100-pack at ₹590 and the C2 100-pack at ₹944 are the right purchases after a bracket test, and the per-wick price does not change at any pack size on either — ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 from 10 wicks to 1,000 — so there is no saving to chase by committing early. Buy 10 C1 (₹59) and 20 C2 (₹188.80), pour three candles on each in the same jar with the same wax and load, and burn them for three hours each. Then buy the hundred of whichever won. Related: why does my candle tunnel even with the correct wick.

Step 6 — three costed builds and the batch ladder

Now the whole chain, priced. Three real builds of the same 200 g candle at 8%, using live CSI listings. The only differences are the wax, the oil and the jar — the wick, the sticker and the load are identical.

Priced above: wax = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × 184 g — Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹0.399/g × 184 = ₹73.42; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹0.599/g × 184 = ₹110.22. Oil = 100 gm price ÷ 100 × 16 g — Citrus Lemon ₹3/g = ₹48; Sandalwood ₹5.0268/g = ₹80.43; Lavender ₹5.40/g = ₹86.40. Jars — Salsa clear 5 Pcs ₹200.60 = ₹40.12 each, 100 Pcs ₹2,950 = ₹29.50 each; Salsa Amber pack of 5 ₹310 and pack of 100 ₹6,200, both ₹62 each. Wick — Eco C2 ₹188.80 for 20 = ₹9.44. Sticker — ₹100 for 40 = ₹2.50. The value build's ₹162.86 is the same candle with the jar at its 100-piece price.

One observation worth carrying into your pricing: across these three builds the oil is the largest single line in two of them, and the spread between the cheapest and dearest candle — ₹97.08 — is almost entirely oil and wax choice, not jar choice. The jar is the line beginners agonise over and the oil is the line that actually moves the cost.

1
Buy five jars, not a hundredA pack of five Salsa clear jars at ₹200.60 is the cheapest way to establish the one number you cannot look up. Pour one jar with plain wax, no oil, to your intended fill line, and weigh what went in. Write it on the recipe line.
2
Recalculate the split from the weight you measuredIf the jar took 175 g rather than 200 g, your candle is a 175 g candle: 161 g of wax and 14 g of oil at 8%. Adjust the label, the price and the batch maths now rather than after a hundred candles. Nothing else in the chain changes — only the two numbers at the top.
3
Buy wax for the batch you will actually pourSix candles at a true 200 g need 1,148 g with the allowance, so two 1 kg packs of Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹798 — and you will have wax over for the next round, which is the point. Five candles fit in one kilo. Do not plan six from one kilo.
4
Buy one 100 gm oil, not three 15 gm oils96 g covers the six candles exactly. If you are still choosing scents, buy 15 gm sizes to smell — they are under a candle's worth each — and then one 100 gm bottle of the winner to pour. Sandalwood 100 gm is ₹502.68 and Citrus Lemon ₹300; the difference across six candles is ₹194.58.
5
Bracket the wick across the six candlesThree on C1, three on C2, everything else identical. Add the oil at the temperature your wax page states, stir two minutes, pour, and log the reading. Stick every wick with a wick sticker before the wax is melted.
6
Cure 14 days, burn three hours, then repeat the winnerBurn each candle for up to three hours and record minutes to a pool reaching the glass, flame height and any soot. A flame that is too large is a hazard, not a preference — act on it rather than noting it. Then pour the winning combination again before you call it a formula, and only then buy jars and wicks in hundreds.
The CSI principle
Decide the finished weight, then let it decide everything except the wick — and let the diameter decide that.
A 200 g candle is five derived numbers and one measurement. The five you can calculate before you spend anything; the one you have to measure is the jar's true fill weight, and it costs ₹200.60 and one pour to establish.
Formula proven? The ladder is ready: Eco Soy CSI 400 5 kg ₹1,996 (about 27 candles), Salsa clear jars 100 for ₹2,950 at ₹29.50 each, Eco C2 wicks 100 for ₹944. For anything above the listed packs, bulk pricing and GST invoicing are handled on WhatsApp.

The closest thing in the range to a purpose-made 200 g jar, with one caveat you now know how to handle: the page states "The 200ml capacity provides ample space for crafting beautiful votive or single-wick candles" — a volume, so weigh your first fill. What makes it worth the ₹62 over the clear version is the line beneath: "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks." That is a published starting point for step 6, and very few jar pages give you one. The lug cap means it seals for curing without buying a separate lid. Per-piece price is flat at every listed quantity.

The wax · cheapest per candle
Eco Soy CSI 400
At ₹399 a kilo this is ₹73.42 of wax in a 200 g candle — the lowest in the CSI soy range — and its page is specific where it matters for a repeatable recipe: add fragrance at 80–90°C (85°C), stir gently for 2 minutes, and pour directly. It states no maximum fragrance load, which at 8% is not a problem: 8% sits inside every stated oil band in this guide, so your oil's page carries the ceiling. Listed in 1 kg and 5 kg only, and the per-kilo price is effectively flat between them, so buy for the batch rather than for a discount.

Sandalwood Fragrance Oil
A single-note woody oil whose page gives you everything the arithmetic needs: "Up to 10% for soy wax" with a stated cure of 48–72 hours, "Up to 6% for paraffin wax", "Up to 12% for wax melts", a measured flashpoint of 203°C — comfortably above any soy pour temperature — and 0% vanillin with no discolouration stated. At 8% one candle takes 16 g, or ₹80.43 at the 100 gm price. The 15 gm size at ₹93.22 is for smelling, not pouring: it is under one candle's worth.

The wick · the bracket, not the answer
Eco Candle Wicks · Thin (C1) and Thick (C2)
Two sizes, no stated diameter range, and a flat per-wick price at every pack size — ₹5.90 for C1 and ₹9.44 for C2 whether you buy ten or a thousand. That flat pricing is the reason to start small: there is nothing to gain from committing to a hundred before a burn test. The page states these wicks "pair perfectly with soy wax, beeswax, and other eco-friendly waxes", and the Salsa Amber jar page names C2 — so C2 is your first candidate and C1 is the control. One customer's verdict is the right expectation to hold: "Quality wick, works very well". Note the C2 10-wick pack is currently sold out, so the 20 is the smallest C2 buy.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We sell the jars, so the convenient thing would be to tell you a 200 ml jar makes a 200 g candle and take the order for a hundred. We are telling you the opposite: buy five, pour one, weigh it. A maker whose labels, costs and burn times are right keeps ordering; a maker who has to re-label a hundred candles does not.

Every price, capacity, dimension, load and temperature above is quoted from live CSI product pages in September 2026 and linked, in the unit the page itself uses. Where a page states a capacity in millilitres we do not convert it to grams, and where no in-stock jar states a 200 g fill we say so rather than nominating one. Stated fragrance loads are wax and oil formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and no figure here measures scent throw or burn time.

The 8% load, the 3–5% wastage allowance, the 14-day cure judgement and one wick per candle are our planning assumptions, labelled as such. For help checking a batch plan, for bulk pricing, GST invoicing, or MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax do I need for a 200 g candle?
184 g of wax and 16 g of fragrance oil at an 8% load, because load is a share of the finished candle rather than an addition to the wax. At 10% it is 180 g and 20 g; at 13%, 174 g and 26 g. Add a 3–5% allowance for what stays in the jug when you plan a batch — that is a planning figure, not a specification. Six candles therefore need about 1,148 g of wax, which is why a 1 kg pack makes five.
Is a 200 ml jar the same as a 200 g candle?
No. Millilitres measure volume and your recipe is in grams, and wax is lighter than water — so a 200 ml jar filled to a sensible level below the rim holds less than 200 g of wax. CSI's 200 ml Salsa jars and the 200 ml matte range state volume; the 150 gram lidded jars and the 180 gram Ceramic Jar state weight. Buy five, pour one, weigh it, and use that number for everything afterwards.
How many 200 g candles can I make from 1 kg of soy wax?
Five. One kilo divided by 184 g is 5.43, and the 3–5% you lose to the jug and top-ups eats most of the remainder. Six candles need 1,104 g before any allowance — 1,148 g with it — so plan two kilos for six. A 5 kg pack covers about 27 candles comfortably. If you want the full working and other candle sizes, see how many candles can 1 kg of wax make.
How much fragrance oil for a 200 g candle?
16 g at 8% — and check it against two published numbers before you go higher: your wax's stated ceiling and your oil's stated load. Sandalwood states "Up to 10% for soy wax"; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13%. The lower figure governs. In money, 16 g runs from ₹48 to ₹86.40 across the oils in this guide, and a 100 gm bottle covers six candles.
What wick size does a 200 g candle need?
There is no answer in grams — a wick is chosen from the jar's diameter, plus your wax, load and oil. CSI's Eco Candle Wicks state no diameter range, so bracket C1 (₹5.90) and C2 (₹9.44) in the jar you have chosen and burn-test. The one published starting point in this build is on the jar rather than the wick: the 200 ml Salsa Amber page states "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks."
What does a 200 g scented soy candle cost to make?
Between ₹173.48 and ₹270.56 in materials across the three builds above — wax, 16 g of oil, jar, wick and sticker, at CSI's September 2026 listed prices. The value build uses Eco Soy CSI 400, Citrus Lemon and a clear Salsa jar; the premium build uses Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Lavender. Buying the jars in hundreds takes the value build to ₹162.86. None of those figures includes your labels, packaging, lid or labour.

Arithmetic and assumptions, stated as assumptions: fragrance load calculated as a share of finished candle weight — 200 g at 6% = 188 g + 12 g, at 8% = 184 g + 16 g, at 10% = 180 g + 20 g, at 13% = 174 g + 26 g (the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states its own range as a share of total wax weight, a different convention noted in the text); a 3–5% wastage allowance, shown as 4% in the batch table; one wick per single-wick candle; a 14-day cure judgement for soy containers. Batch figures: 5 candles 920 g, 6 candles 1,104 g (1,148 g with the allowance), 10 candles 1,840 g, 27 candles 4,968 g. Build totals: value ₹73.42 + ₹48 + ₹40.12 + ₹9.44 + ₹2.50 = ₹173.48 (₹162.86 with jars at the 100-piece price); mid ₹73.42 + ₹80.43 + ₹62 + ₹9.44 + ₹2.50 = ₹227.79; premium ₹110.22 + ₹86.40 + ₹62 + ₹9.44 + ₹2.50 = ₹270.56.
