Quick answers — read this first
I'm moving my whole collection from 8% to 10%. Do all my approved wick combinations need retesting? Every one that moves needs at least a short screen at 10%, and none goes on sale at 10% before one candle has burned its full life. But not every one needs a full re-bracket. Sort them first: some can't move at all, light oils with comfortable 8% records get a three-candle screen, and heavy oils, borderline records and big or multi-wick jars go on a five-candle full-life track.

Can every candle legally go to 10%? Check two ceilings: the wax page and the oil page; the lower governs. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 states "up to 10%", so 10% is its edge, and past it if the ceiling means wax weight (11.11% of wax). Three oil pages state a maximum of 9% (Fresh Strawberries, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco and one brand-inspired listing), so they stay where they are.

What does 10% cost per candle? In a 150 g candle it swaps 3 g of wax for 3 g of oil: ₹20.32 more oil for Raat Ki Rani at the 1 kg price, ₹18.80 net of the wax saved, or ₹6.97 net for Citrus Lemon. You also buy 25% more oil per candle.

What does the requalification cost? In our nine-combination worked example: 34 candles instead of 45, 6,196 g of CSI 464 and ₹10,648.10 of materials consumed, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
The short answer
The verdict: retest every combination that moves, but in proportion to its risk: blocked, short screen or full life. A load change is a new candle on paper until one candle at the new load has burned to about 1 cm left.
Gate 1, ceilings: lower of the wax page and the oil page. CSI 464: 10% is the edge; 9.89% of wax at 9% satisfies both readings. CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks: 13% stated, so 10% fits either way. Oil pages stating 9%: blocked.
Gate 2, triage (our judgement): short screen = 2 candles at 10% + 1 control at 8% on the approved wick, burns 1–3, then one candle to full life. Full life = 2 at 10% on the approved wick + 2 on one neighbouring rung + 1 control, all to full life.
The honest limit: 10% may not smell stronger, CSI's wick range has no sized step between C1 and C2, and on CSI 464 9% leaves a weighing margin that 10% does not.
8% to 10%: two gates before any candle is poured Gate 1: stated maximum loads, drawn to scale (30 px per percentage point). Page wording, verified 29 September 2026. Dashed tip = the same ceiling if read on wax weight instead of total weight (the pages do not say which). 0% 2% 4% 6% 8% 10% 12% 14% Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 Luxury Soy Wax Chunks Raat Ki Rani (6–10%) Lavender, Citrus Lemon (6–10%) British Rose (up to 10% soy) Dark Vanilla, Coffee, Woody Oud Fresh Strawberries (6–9%) now 8% target 10% 9% = top rung both readings allow on CSI 464 stops at 9%: blocked Gate 2: nine approved combinations, sorted (worked example) CSI 464 · Clear Glass Jar 150 g (7 cm listed) unless marked · approved wick at 8% → test rung at 10% Blocked · stays at 8% Fresh Strawberries · C1 page maximum 9% no 10% candles poured label stays as approved 0 candles Short screen · 3 candles each Raat Ki Rani · C1 Lavender · C1 Citrus Lemon · C1 2 at 10% + 1 control at 8% one 10% candle to full life 9 candles Full life · 5 candles each British Rose · C2, rung C1 Dark Vanilla · C2, rung Cotton Br. Approved wicks, leans and rungs are illustrative.
Gate 1 draws each stated maximum to scale; the dashed tip shows how much of a ceiling disappears if it is read on wax weight rather than total weight. Among the three waxes shown only CSI 464 ends exactly on the 10% line, where the 6–10% oils also end: in CSI 464 those candles sit at both limits at once. Gate 2 is our worked-example collection of nine approved combinations, sorted by the rules below. Approved wicks, 8% records and rung choices are illustrative, not CSI data.
Straight answer
I want to switch from 8% to 10% fragrance load across my collection. Do all my previously approved wick combinations need to be retested?
Every combination that changes load needs some retesting, because a wick approved at 8% was approved for a candle that no longer exists. But they do not all need the same retest. First, run the two-ceilings check: the lower of the wax page's and the oil page's stated maximum governs. On Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, "up to 10%" makes 10% the edge on CSI's total-weight convention and over it if the ceiling means wax weight; 9% satisfies both readings. Any oil whose page states less than 10% stays where it is. Second, sort what remains. Light oils with comfortable 8% records in single-wick jars get a short screen: two 10% candles and one 8% control on the approved wick, compared over burns 1–3, then one 10% candle to full life. Heavy, vanilla-rich, coffee, oud or resinous oils, any combination whose 8% record was borderline, and every large or multi-wick jar go on the full-life track: the approved wick and one neighbouring rung, two candles each at 10%, plus a control, all burned to about 1 cm left. Relabel a combination only when its own full-life result is in.
One line: ceilings first, then triage by risk; nothing is sold at 10% until a 10% candle has burned its whole life.
For the screen on one light oil: Raat Ki Rani 50 g (₹370.00) covers the three candles with 8 g to spare, on your existing approved wick and jar. If you already stock wax, wicks and jars, that bottle is the whole purchase.
Raat Ki Rani 50 g — ₹370.00

What two percentage points actually change

The jar, the wick and the label stay the same. The fuel does not.

On CSI's convention, load is a percentage of the total candle weight. A 150 g candle at 8% is 12 g of oil and 138 g of wax; at 10% it is 15 g and 135 g. The candle weighs the same and fills to the same line (oil density differs a little from wax, so confirm with a test pour). What changes is that 3 g of wax have become 3 g of oil in every candle, and the wick now draws a different fuel. If you have been working "of wax weight", the bases are explained in the load-basis post; this page stays on total weight.

What that does to a burn is a tendency, not a law, which is why it is tested rather than predicted. More oil can make a flame smaller or sootier; heavy, viscous, vanilla-rich or resinous oils are the ones most commonly linked to carbon build-up on the wick (mushrooming); lighter florals and herbals often burn more easily. A wick that was comfortable at 8% may stay comfortable, may start to mushroom, or may change how quickly the pool reaches the glass. None of CSI's oils has measured wick data, and CSI publishes no wick-performance data at all, so no page can tell you which way your candles will go.

Two things therefore follow. First, an old 8% approval is evidence about a neighbouring candle, not this one: it tells you where to start and how much risk you carry, not what to sell. Second, the size of the retest should follow the size of that risk. A collection-wide move is many small load changes at once, and treating every combination the same wastes candles on the easy ones and under-tests the hard ones.

This page versus its neighbours
The single-candle version, a load ladder on one fixed wick photographed against a ruler, is the 6% to 10% flame-height post. Whether every scent should share one house load in the first place is the same-load-for-every-scent question. This page assumes you have decided to move and need to requalify what you already sell.

Gate 1: the two ceilings, wax by wax and oil by oil

If the paperwork says no, no burn test can say yes.

Every candle has two stated limits: the wax maker's maximum and the oil page's candle maximum. The lower one governs. Both are formulation limits stated by the product pages, not regulatory limits, and a maximum is not a recommendation: many candles perform best below it. Run this check on paper for every combination before you pour a single test candle.

Gate 1 · wax ceilings as the pages state them
Page wording verified 29 September 2026 · CSI convention = % of total weight · the pages do not say which basis their ceiling uses
Wax Stated maximum Same ceiling read on wax weight, as % of total Is 10% of total inside it?
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 "Fragrance Load Up to 10%" 9.09% At the edge on CSI’s reading; over it on the conservative one (11.11% of wax). 9% of total (9.89% of wax) fits both
Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 "Fragrance Load Up to 13%" 11.50% Yes, on either reading
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks "up to 13% fragrance load capacity"; its FAQ says "13% of total wax weight" 11.50% Yes, on either reading
Natural Soy Pearl Wax, Coconut Wax, Premium Coconut Soy Wax, Eco Soy CSI 400 No ceiling stated in the text we captured — Unknown: ask before moving

That first row is the uncomfortable one. CSI 464 is a popular container wax, and its page's "up to 10%" means a collection moving to 10% in CSI 464 is moving to the wax's stated maximum on our own convention, and slightly past it if the maker meant wax weight. That is allowed on the page's wording, but there is no margin left. A 1 g slip on a 15 g target puts a 150 g candle at 10.67%, past the ceiling on any reading; at 9% the same slip lands at 9.67%, still inside it. We sell the extra oil a 10% collection needs, and we would still suggest 9% for CSI 464 collections, unless your weighing is good to the gram every time. Moving to a wax with a higher stated ceiling does not skip the retest either: a wax change restarts the wick evidence on its own, which is the soy-to-soy-coconut carry-over post.

The oil side of the check

At least 48 of CSI's 102 oil pages state a candle load or range. Of the 48 we captured in structured form, 42 top out at 10%, three at 9%, one at 11% (Autumn) and two at 13% (Japanese Cherry Blossom and Cinnamon Vanilla). Several more mention a candle figure only in FAQ or usage text, so read your own oil's page rather than our tally.

Gate 1 · oil pages against a 10% target
Lower of oil and wax ceiling governs · page wording verified 29 September 2026
What the oil page states Examples In CSI 464 In CSI 468 or Chunks
A maximum of 9% Fresh Strawberries ("6-9% for candles"), Coffee Vanilla Tobacco ("7-9% soy wax"), and one brand-inspired mahogany listing Blocked at 10%. 9% at most Blocked at 10%. The oil page governs
A maximum of 10% Raat Ki Rani, Lavender, Citrus Lemon, Dark Vanilla, Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud (each "6-10%"); British Rose ("up to 10% soy") At both edges at once 10% is the oil page’s top
A maximum above 10% Autumn (7–11%), Japanese Cherry Blossom (6–13%), Cinnamon Vanilla (up to 13%) The wax governs: the CSI 464 row above Inside both at 10%
No candle load in the text we captured Many perfume-grade "inspired" listings, which quote perfume rates of 15–25%, not candle loads Inside the wax ceiling only; treat as higher risk Inside the wax ceiling only; treat as higher risk
Mistake: reading a perfume-grade listing's "use at up to 20%" as permission for a 10% candle, or applying a blend's load to each component. Fix: perfume rates are not candle loads, and a blend's load applies to the blend as a whole. For a blend, plan to the lowest stated maximum among its components (our judgement). If a page states nothing for candles, work inside the wax ceiling and put that oil on the full-life track.

Gate 2: blocked, short screen or full life

Risk sets the size of the retest. Convenience does not.

Once Gate 1 has removed what cannot move, sort every remaining approved combination by how much it is likely to change and how much it matters if it does. The rules below are our judgement, built from the tendencies above. Write your own version down before you pour, and do not soften it after the results come in.

Gate 2 · the triage rules (our judgement)
Same wax, jar, fill, wick and cure as the 8% approval · only the load changes
Track Goes here if Candles per combination Before relabelling
Blocked Gate 1 fails: the oil page states less than the new load, or the wax ceiling is unknown None at 10% Stays at its approved load. A smaller step (8 → 9%) is its own screen
Short screen Light floral, herbal or citrus oil; single wick; jar 7 cm or less; 8% record comfortable (pool to the glass in about the rule-of-thumb time, calm flame, no carbon cap, no soot, flame well clear of the glass) 3: two at 10% + one 8% control, approved wick Burns 1–3 match the control, then one 10% candle passes full life
Full life Heavy, vanilla-rich, coffee, oud, sandalwood or resinous oil; any borderline 8% record (fast pool, flame at the top of its range, mushrooming, deep late pool); any multi-wick or largest jar; any oil with no stated candle load; any screen failure 5: two at 10% on the approved wick, two on one neighbouring rung, one 8% control The approved-wick or rung pair passes full life

Why a control at 8%? Because your 8% approval was poured months ago, from a different wax lot, cured on a different calendar and burned in different weather. Comparing a fresh 10% candle with an old notebook confuses the load change with everything else that changed. One 8% candle poured the same day from the same melted wax makes the comparison fair. Why one neighbouring rung, and which? Go in the direction the 8% record leaned: a fast pool or a flame at the top of its range points down a rung; a slow edge points up. If the record had no lean, we test the rung down, our judgement, because a late-burn heat failure costs more than a slow first burn. CSI's rungs are C1 → C2 → Cotton Braided, with no sized, tabbed wick between C1 and C2; the full grid logic is in the behaviour-groups post.

The same sorting idea, applied to a jar change rather than a load change, is the 7.5 to 8 cm retest-scope post. The difference here is that Gate 1 can block a combination outright, and that load affects every jar in the collection at once.

Running the screen and the full-life track

One pour day, one cure, one room. Then let the candles disagree with you.
1
Pull every 8% recordFor each approved combination write down jar, inside diameter, fill, wick, wax lot, cure, the time to a full pool, trimmed flame height, depth late in the candle, any carbon cap, soot or flame drifting toward the glass. Mark anything borderline. No record, no screen: an undocumented approval goes on the full-life track.
2
One melt, weighed per candleMelt one batch of wax per combination and weigh it out per candle: 138 g for the control, 135 g for each 10% candle, each with its own weighed oil (12 g or 15 g). The control then shares the wax lot, the melt and the pour day. CSI 464 pours at 80–90°C by its page; in the 150 g Clear Glass Jar keep to 80–85°C, the jar page's stated hot-pour limit.
3
Cure all of them the sameRaat Ki Rani's page states no cure time in the text we captured; the 25 of 102 CSI oil pages that do state one say 48–72 hours for soy, and many makers wait about a week. Pick one cure and use it for every candle in the plan.
4
Burns 1–3, side by sideLight the control and the 10% candles together in still air, trimmed to about 5–6 mm. Sessions of at least about 2.5 hours for 6–7 cm jars and 3–4 hours for 8–10 cm (our judgement). Log time to full pool, flame height at 1 h and at the end, carbon cap, soot on a white card held above the flame, and how close the flame comes to the glass. Never judge glass heat by touch.
5
Read the screenA screened combination passes if both 10% candles behave like the control: pool to the glass within the same burn, trimmed flame inside the 2.5–5 cm range many makers use, no carbon cap or soot the control lacks. One fails, both fail, or they split: move it to the full-life track.
6
Carry to about 1 cm leftScreened combinations: one 10% candle burns on to about 1 cm left. Full-life combinations: all four 10% candles do. Heat commonly builds in the final third, so that is where most load changes are decided. The acceptance gates by depth are in how far down to burn a test candle.
7
Relabel one combination at a timeChange the batch sheet and the label for a combination only when its own result is in. A collection can sit half at 8% and half at 10% for a while; that is better than a whole collection at 10% on borrowed evidence.
Full-life track · reading the five candles
"Passes" = both candles of a pair clear full life with flame, pool, soot, carbon cap and flame-to-glass inside your written standard
Approved wick at 10% Neighbouring rung at 10% Decision
Passes Passes too Keep the approved wick: fewer changes to your stock and sheets
Fails (mushrooms, soots, runs hot late) Passes Change this combination’s wick at 10%; update the sheet and the wick count
Fails (pool slow or flame small) Rung up passes Change up a rung; watch the next batch’s final third closely
Fails Fails in the other direction The answer sits between CSI rungs. Stay at 8% (or try 9%), or ask us; another supplier’s in-between size may fit
Fails Fails the same way This candle does not want 10%. Stay at 8%; that is a result, not a failure

Two specific situations already have their own posts in this series. A rose that pools very deep at 10% and the choice between stepping the load down and stepping the wick down is the 10% rose route comparison. A coffee that mushrooms at 10% and what a lower load costs in scent is the coffee load step-down. If an unscented approval is all you ever had, start with the unscented-to-scented re-bracket instead of this plan.

Nine combinations in candles, grams and rupees

The plan costs candles. Skipping it costs a collection.

Our worked example is a collection of nine approved combinations on CSI 464, all at 8%: eight oils in the 150 g Clear Glass Jar and Lavender also in the 500 g Apothecary Glass Candle Jar with two wicks. Fills are 150 g and 500 g (the Apothecary page states "Fill capacity: ~500 g - 700 g (2 sizes)"; we use the smaller). Records, wicks and leans are illustrative.

Worked example · the collection after Gates 1 and 2
Approved at 8% on CSI 464 · 8% records illustrative · rung chosen from the record's lean
Combination Approved wick 8% record Track Candles Oil used
Fresh Strawberries, 150 g C1 comfortable Blocked: page maximum 9% 0 none
Raat Ki Rani, 150 g C1 comfortable Short screen 3 42 g
Lavender, 150 g C1 comfortable Short screen 3 42 g
Citrus Lemon, 150 g C1 comfortable Short screen 3 42 g
British Rose, 150 g C2 borderline: fast pool, flame at the top of its range Full life; rung down to C1 5 72 g
Dark Vanilla, 150 g C2 heavy, vanillin present; slow edge Full life; rung up to Cotton Braided (a labelled arm) 5 72 g
Roasted Coffee, 150 g C2 heavy; slight carbon cap late Full life; rung down to C1 5 72 g
Woody Oud, 150 g C2 heavy; no lean Full life; rung down to C1 (no-lean rule) 5 72 g
Lavender, 500 g Apothecary 2 × C2 comfortable, but the largest, two-wick jar Full life; rung down to 2 × C1 5 240 g
Total 34 6,196 g of wax

Dark Vanilla's rung up is Cotton Braided, whose own page describes it as "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", which a 7 cm jar is not. That is why it is a separate, labelled arm rather than a routine step, and why a fail on both sides there would send Dark Vanilla back to 8%. Grams per candle: 150 g at 10% = 15 g + 135 g; control at 8% = 12 g + 138 g; Apothecary at 10% = 50 g + 450 g, control 40 g + 460 g.

Most brands making this move already stock the oils and jars, so the cash that leaves the bank is usually the wax and the wick packs: ₹3,731.20. Against the baseline of putting every legal combination on the full-life track (45 candles), the plan pours 11 fewer candles; more usefully, it carries 23 candles to full life instead of 36, and full-life sessions are where the weeks go.

Argued against our own interest: Lavender's 500 g is cheaper per gram (₹5.24 against ₹5.40), but the plan needs 282 g; three 100 g bottles cover it and cost ₹1,000.00 less cash than the 500 g. And no oil in this plan needs its 1 kg until its own 10% result is in.

What 10% costs per candle, oil by oil

Going from 8% to 10% in a 150 g candle adds 3 g of oil and removes 3 g of wax. At production prices (each oil's 1 kg, CSI 464 at ₹0.51 a gram) the wax saving is ₹1.52 a candle, so the net change is the extra oil minus that.

Oil cost per 150 g candle · 8% versus 10%

Dark Vanilla (₹7,646.00) ₹91.75 ₹114.69 ₹22.94 ₹21.42 ₹2,141.58
Lavender (₹5,221.00) ₹62.65 ₹78.31 ₹15.66 ₹14.14 ₹1,414.08
Woody Oud (₹4,531.20) ₹54.37 ₹67.97 ₹13.59 ₹12.07 ₹1,207.14

Fresh Strawberries (₹3,540.00) ₹42.48 blocked; 9% = ₹47.79 — — —

Three things in that table matter more than any single figure. The dearer the oil, the dearer the move: Raat Ki Rani and Dark Vanilla add two to three times what British Rose or Citrus Lemon do. The rupees scale with volume: for Raat Ki Rani, 100 candles take ₹10,161.00 of oil at 10% against ₹8,128.80 at 8%. And your oil purchasing changes shape: 1 kg makes 83 candles at 8% and 66 at 10%, so you buy 25% more oil for the same candle count. A 9% step on Raat Ki Rani would add ₹9.40 net per candle (13.5 g = ₹91.45).

The large jar scales the same way. Lavender in the 500 g Apothecary goes from 40 g to 50 g of oil, ₹47.14 more per candle net of the wax it replaces. Large, multi-wick candles are where a load change costs most per unit and where a late-burn failure is most expensive, one more reason they sit on the full-life track.

Price it before you test it
Put the net figure for each oil next to its retail price before pouring anything. If ₹18.80 a candle is not covered by what customers will pay for "stronger", the cheapest requalification is the one you never start.

When 10% is the wrong move

More oil is the most expensive way to find out that the candle was already doing its job.

A collection-wide load increase usually starts with customers saying "make it stronger". Before committing, be clear about what 10% can and cannot do. More oil does not raise throw in a straight line, and past what the wax holds it tends to cause sweating and can hurt the burn. Many makers find a candle that was weak at 8% is only slightly stronger at 10%, sometimes not noticeably so; the 8% to 10% no-improvement post works through why. If the real complaint is room size, a ceiling fan or a too-small jar, a load change will not fix it; the stronger-candles roadmap ranks the other levers by cost.

When the right purchase is nothing: if your 8% candles burn well and customers' "weak" reports come from large or ventilated rooms, if CSI 464 is your wax and you cannot weigh to the gram, or if Diwali is close and a full life will not finish in time, stay at 8%. Diwali is 8 November 2026, 40 days from 29 September 2026. A plan poured this week, cured about a week and screened over three burns gives you screen results by mid-October; the full-life candles need the weeks after that. Launching Diwali at 8% and moving afterwards is a sound decision, not a lost one.

A partial move is also a legitimate end state. If four of your nine combinations pass at 10% and five do not, you now know which candles respond to more oil and which do not, and you can run the collection at two house loads with the reasons written down. The purchase gate that should come before any 1 kg or 1,000-wick order is the 1,000-wick purchase gate; the full-life calendar for a 150 g, 7 cm candle is the full-life calendar post.

What to buy, and what to skip

Five items, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 29 September 2026. CSI publishes no wick-performance data, so nothing is ranked on burn results. Candle counts in the tables use 12 g (8%) and 15 g (10%) of oil per 150 g candle.

1
fragrance oil · white floral · the oil the change starts with
Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) Fragrance Oil
The page states "Recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles", so 10% is its stated top, not a midpoint, and lists green stems and fresh ozone over night-blooming jasmine and white florals, with soft amber and musk underneath. It describes the strength as "Strong". No cure time or wick advice in the text we captured. Every size is in stock on 29 September 2026; the listing handle still carries an old "ships 21st June 2025" date, so confirm dispatch on WhatsApp. For the screen buy the 50 g: 42 g of the three candles leaves 8 g. At the 1 kg price the move to 10% adds ₹20.32 of oil per candle (₹18.80 net of the wax it replaces). Limitation: it is one of the dearer candle-grade oils per gram, so it is where an unearned 10% costs most.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8% 150 g candles at 10%
15 g ₹130.00 ₹8.67 1 1
50 g ₹370.00 ₹7.40 4 3
100 g ₹700.00 ₹7.00 8 6
500 g ₹3,387.00 ₹6.77 41 33
1 kg ₹6,774.00 ₹6.77 83 66
Screen: 42 g = ₹310.80 at the 50 g price. Buy 50 g — ₹370.00
2
wax · the ceiling that sets the move
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (Flakes Form) For Container Candles
The worked example's wax and the reason 10% is an edge, not a middle: the page states "Fragrance Load Up to 10%" and "Pour Temperature 80°C – 90°C". On CSI's total-weight convention 10% is exactly at that ceiling; if the ceiling is meant on wax weight, 10% of total is 11.11% of wax and past it. Price is flat at ₹0.51 a gram from 1 kg to 10 kg, so buy what the plan needs. Argued against our own interest: the plan uses 6,196 g; 5 kg + 1 kg + 500 g (₹3,304.40) covers it with 304 g left, and the 10 kg bag waits until the results are in.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
500 g ₹260.00 ₹0.52 per g top-up; slightly dearer per gram
1 kg ₹507.40 ₹0.51 per g part of the 6.5 kg the plan needs
5 kg ₹2,537.00 ₹0.51 per g the bulk of the plan
10 kg ₹5,074.00 ₹0.51 per g production, after full life passes
Plan wax: 6,196 g = ₹3,143.85. Buy 5 kg — ₹2,537.00
3
wick · the approved rungs and their neighbours
Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) and Thick (C2)
The plan reuses each combination's approved wick and adds one neighbouring rung only on the full-life track. The page states no length, width or jar range in the text we captured, so neither rung is "the 10% wick". Stock on 29 September 2026: the C1 10-pack is out of stock; every other pack is in, and per-wick price is flat (₹5.90 C1, ₹9.44 C2). The plan needs 19 C1 and 18 C2: one 20-pack of each. Argued against our own interest: CSI lists no sized, tabbed wick between C1 and C2, so if 10% wants something in between, the honest answer may be to stay at 8%.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
Thin (C1) / 10 ₹59.00 — Out of stock ₹5.90 Out of stock on 29 September 2026
Thin (C1) / 20 ₹118.00 ₹5.90 all 19 C1 candles, 1 spare
Thick (C2) / 20 ₹188.80 ₹9.44 all 18 C2 candles, 2 spare
C1 or C2 / 50 · 100 · 500 · 1000 ₹295.00 / ₹472.00 · ₹590.00 / ₹944.00 · ₹2,950.00 / ₹4,720.00 · ₹5,900.00 / ₹9,440.00 ₹5.90 / ₹9.44 production only, after full life
Plan wicks: C1 20 + C2 20 = ₹306.80. Buy C1 20 — ₹118.00
4
jar · the 150 g jar the worked example uses
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram)
The page lists a 150 g fill capacity, outer diameter about 7 cm, base about 6.5 cm, and "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C", so CSI 464 goes in at 80–85°C, the overlap of the two stated ranges. That 85°C is a pour limit, not a burn rating. Flat ₹94.40 a jar in packs of 10 or 20. The plan pours 29 candles, so three packs of 10 leave one spare. Limitation: no listing, this one included, states an internal diameter; measure yours before comparing old and new burn notes.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
Pack of 10 ₹944.00 ₹94.40 three packs = 30 jars for 29 candles
Pack of 20 ₹1,888.00 ₹94.40 the same per jar
Plan jars: 29 = ₹2,737.60. Buy 10 — ₹944.00

tool · because 10% leaves no weighing margin
Candle Making Weighing Scale
At the ceiling a gram matters. 16 g in a 150 g candle is 10.67%, past CSI 464's stated 10% on any reading; at 9% the same 1 g slip (9.67%) still sits inside it. The page describes a digital scale reading grams or ounces with one-button operation; it states no capacity or resolution in the text we captured, so check it against a known weight and tare the pot for every batch. Argued against our own interest: if you already own a scale that reads single grams, you need nothing here.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
Single ₹354.00 ₹354.00 about ₹10.41 per plan candle if bought for this run
Weigh oil to the gram at 10%. Buy — ₹354.00
What to skip for now: 1 kg bottles of any oil before its 10% result is in; the 10 kg wax bag (flat per gram from 1 kg, so it saves nothing on a test); Cotton Braided packs beyond the pack of 10 unless a rung up actually passes; and a new wax bought only for its 13% ceiling, because it restarts your wick evidence.

The CSI principle
Change the load, and the candle is new until it proves otherwise.
Check both ceilings on paper, sort by risk, compare every 10% candle with an 8% twin poured the same day, and relabel one combination at a time after its own full life.
"An 8% approval tells you where to start at 10%. It doesn't tell you where to stop."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wax, oils, wicks and jars named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells CSI 464 users that 9% may be wiser than 10%, that some oils must not move at all, and that the cheapest plan is sometimes to stay at 8%.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 29 September 2026. Stock was checked per size: the Eco C1 10-pack is out of stock on that date and is flagged wherever it appears; every other size shown is in stock. Load ceilings, temperatures and capacities are quoted from the product pages; where a page is silent in the text we captured, we say so.

The triage rules, the no-lean rung rule, the worked-example collection and its records are our judgement or illustration; melt-pool and flame benchmarks are commonly cited rules of thumb; CSI publishes no wick-performance data. Frequently asked questions

Do I need to retest my wick if I increase fragrance load from 8% to 10%?
Yes, at least a short screen, and one candle burned to about 1 cm left before you sell at 10%. Heavy oils, borderline 8% records and large or multi-wick jars need the approved wick and one neighbouring rung tested through full life.
Can soy wax CSI 464 hold 10% fragrance oil?
Its page states "Fragrance Load Up to 10%". On CSI's total-weight convention 10% is exactly at that ceiling; if the ceiling means wax weight, 10% of total is slightly over it. 9% of total satisfies both readings and leaves a weighing margin.
Does 10% fragrance load make a candle smell stronger than 8%?
Sometimes a little, sometimes not noticeably. More oil does not raise throw in a straight line, and past what the wax holds it can cause sweating and burn problems. Test 8% and 10% side by side, blind, before changing a collection.
How much more does a 10% candle cost than an 8% candle?
In a 150 g candle, 3 g of wax becomes 3 g of oil. At CSI's 1 kg prices that is ₹6.97 net per candle for Citrus Lemon up to ₹21.42 for Dark Vanilla, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Which fragrance oils cannot be used at 10% in candles?
Any whose own page states a lower maximum. Among CSI's oils, three pages state 9%: Fresh Strawberries, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco and one brand-inspired mahogany listing. Pages that state no candle load need extra caution.
Should I change my wick when I increase fragrance load?
Not by default. Keep the approved wick as the first cell, test it at the new load beside an old-load control, and add one neighbouring rung only for heavy oils, borderline records or big jars. Change the wick only if the approved one fails and the rung passes.
Before you relabel at 10%
Ceilings on paper, triage by risk, then a 10% candle to the bottom of every jar you change.
Check the wax and oil pages, block what cannot move, screen the light oils against an 8% twin, and put heavy oils and large jars through full life with one neighbouring rung. Send us your list on WhatsApp if you want a second opinion on the sorting.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: part of CSI's commercial wick-matrix cluster (4281–4300): a requalification plan for moving a whole collection from 8% to 10% fragrance load: a two-ceilings check per wax and oil, triage of approved combinations into blocked, short-screen and full-life tracks, a costed worked example of nine combinations, and oil cost per candle at 8% and 10%.

Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (150 g at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax; at 10% = 15 g + 135 g; 500 g at 10% = 50 g + 450 g). Basis conversions: of-total t → of-wax t/(100−t) × 100. Ceilings as the pages state them (CSI 464 up to 10%, pour 80–90°C; CSI 468 and Chunks up to 13%; oil pages as quoted): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. The 9%-oil count is from the structured capture of 48 oil pages. Melt-pool and flame benchmarks are commonly cited rules of thumb. The triage rules, rung directions, records and collection are editorial judgement and illustrative. Costs exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact.
