Best Jasmine Fragrance Oils for Candle Making in India

Four flowers, one word

A buyer in Chennai or Pune does not ask for "a white floral candle". They ask for mogra, or raat ki rani, or rajnigandha — flowers with a specific place in a household, a temple and a memory. That is a gift to a candle brand, because the name on the label does most of the selling; it is also a trap, because labelling one oil with another flower's name is the fastest way to lose a customer who grew up with the real thing on a windowsill.

CSI's range reflects the distinction. Jasmine Fragrance Oil is the classic sweet jasmine with a stated "subtle musk" undertone. Raat Ki Rani is the night-blooming one, stated with "Green Stems, Fresh Ozone" on top — greener, cooler, later in the evening. Rajnigandha is tuberose: "Creamy Tuberose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang" over "Soft Musk, Sandalwood". Gardenia is a separate bloom again, and its page draws the comparison itself: "Softer and creamier than jasmine, more velvety than rose". Four listings, four labels, four different candles.

Stated note pyramids, verbatim

Below is each page's own description, quoted as published — pyramid where a pyramid is given, prose profile where it is not. This is the wording you are entitled to repeat on your own product page, and it is also the only honest basis for telling two similar oils apart before you have poured either.

Every pack, every price, cost per candle

The buying table. Every listed size with its price, the per-gram basis at the largest listed pack, and the fragrance cost inside a 200g candle at 8% (16 g) and 10% (20 g) — plus the figure for a 70 g votive at 8% (5.6 g), because pooja and gifting orders are usually counted in votives rather than jars.

The spread is the point. Jasmine Fragrance Oil is ₹65.21 per 200g candle cheaper than Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon — and both of them are "a jasmine candle" to a customer reading a shelf. Across a hundred candles that gap is ₹6,521.60, which is more than the entire oil bill for the cheaper option. The dearer oil may well be the right choice for a resort or spa line; it is simply not the right choice by default, and nothing on either page says it is.

The white florals worth ordering

The mogra question, answered honestly

Mogra is the flower most Indian candle buyers actually mean when they say jasmine. Here is the plain position in September 2026: CSI's Mogra Fragrance Oil is listed in a single 100g size and it is sold out. There is no other size, no substitute under the same name, and no date we can publish — and we will not point a buy button at a bottle that will not ship.

What the mogra page does publish is its structure: "Top Notes: Fresh green, soft citrus, airy floral Heart Notes: Rich jasmine, creamy white florals, slightly powdery Base Notes: Soft musk, warm woody undertones", and the observation that "This structure creates a natural blooming effect — it opens fresh, settles into" a lush heart. Its own recommended uses are "Candles that feel soft, emotional, and premium", attar-style solid perfumes and reed diffusers, with a note to keep the percentage low: "Skin-safe blends (low % for elegance, not loudness)". No load, flash point, cure or vanillin figure appears on it.

Read that structure against the in-stock oils and the substitution becomes a structural decision rather than a guess. The powdery, slightly green heart is closest to Jasmine Fragrance Oil with a small share of Rajnigandha behind it; the airy, nocturnal reading is closest to Raat Ki Rani. Neither is mogra, and neither should be sold as mogra — but both can carry a "white floral" or "temple flower" listing honestly while the mogra bottle is out.

185°C, 98°C and the add-temperature argument

A flash point is the lowest temperature at which a liquid gives off enough vapour to form an ignitable mixture with air under defined test conditions. It is a handling and classification figure. It is not a temperature at which fragrance "burns off", and it is not a quality score. Two oils in this family publish one, and the contrast is instructive.

Jasmine Fragrance Oil states Flashpoint 185°C, comfortably above any temperature a candle maker works at, which is why its page calls it "one of the most technically reliable oils in the CSI range". Gardenia Fragrance Oil states Flashpoint 98°C and goes further, giving an explicit instruction: "This is a lower flashpoint than many fragrance oils - ensure you add this oil to your wax at a temperature below 98°C". That is a page telling you to change your process for one specific oil, and it is worth obeying precisely because the page says it and not because of a rule of thumb.

The complication is that the Jasmine page also carries a line of its own: "Add to wax that has been cooled to your recommended pour temperature before adding fragrance oil." Your wax page may say something different — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state fragrance in at 80–90°C and a pour at 70–80°C; Eco Soy CSI 400 states adding at 80–90°C (85°C) and stirring two minutes. Both bands sit below Gardenia's 98°C and far below Jasmine's 185°C, so there is no safety conflict either way. Where the two pages disagree on process, the honest answer is: follow the wax page's stated band, log the reading, and let a burn test decide — then write down which instruction you followed so the next batch can repeat it.

Loads, cure and wax fit

Each oil page that publishes a load publishes a different one, and none of them knows your wax. The number you pour is the lower of the two stated ceilings. Below, that arithmetic is done against CSI's four container waxes, with the wax cost inside a 200g candle so you can see the whole bill of one candle at a glance.

Cure is where white florals reward patience. Jasmine's page states "Up to 10% for soy wax with a cure time of 48-72 hours" and 24–48 hours for paraffin — those are the windows in which a test becomes meaningful. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page asks for a minimum of 48 hours and "ideally 1-2 weeks". For candles you intend to sell, this series uses 14–21 days for soy containers. Judge your test jar at both ends, because the gap between day 3 and day 14 is the number that tells you whether your cure schedule is worth the warehouse space. Costing 500 pooja votives

White florals sell into pooja, temple gifting, wedding favours and Diwali hampers, and those orders arrive as a count of small candles rather than a weight of wax. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November. The oil is 21.9% of the materials bill on Jasmine and 44% on Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon — for the same jar, the same wax, the same wick and the same label. That is the single most useful number in this guide, because it tells you where to spend your attention: switching oil moves the bill far more than switching jar or wick, and it is the decision you make earliest and revisit least.
