Commercial Fragrance · Diwali Production
Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. From 25 September that is 44 days, and a gift candle needs testing, a production order, a pour window, a cure and packing inside them. This page lays the dates out backwards from Diwali, names the festive oils worth testing, and prices a real run of jars and tins.

days from 25 September to Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026 · production oil ordered by 5 October in this plan · durations are working assumptions
Quick answers — read this first
When should I start Diwali candle production? Now. Working back from Sunday 8 November, this plan pours between 12 and 17 October, cures to 31 October and hands over on 2 November. That leaves about ten days to test and order. See the back-schedule.

Which fragrance oils suit Diwali gift candles? Warm, traditional and familiar: sandalwood, jasmine and spiced vanilla are the three this run uses — Sandalwood, Jasmine and Cinnamon Vanilla — with Midnight Bakhoor Royale as a premium reserve. Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock in every size, so they are not on the list.

How much does a Diwali gift candle cost to make? At 8% and 1 kg oil prices, a 200 g White Matte jar costs ₹249.68 to ₹267.34 in materials and an 85 g tin ₹109.42 to ₹116.92, for these three oils. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra.

How much oil for 252 Diwali candles? 120 jars at 16 g plus 132 tins at 6.8 g is 2,817.6 g, or 939.2 g per scent across three. With a 5% allowance that is 986.2 g per scent — one 1 kg pack each. Other run sizes are in how much oil to buy for Diwali.
The short answer
Dates: Today 25 Sep (D-44) · decide and order oil 5 Oct · pour 12–17 Oct · cure to 31 Oct · hand over 2 Nov · Diwali Sun 8 Nov. Durations are working assumptions.
Oils: Sandalwood (flat ₹5.03/g from 100 g) · Jasmine (1 kg ₹3.92/g, 8.8% below 100 g) · Cinnamon Vanilla (1 kg ₹4.55/g) · reserve Midnight Bakhoor Royale (from 100 g, ₹7.99/g).
Priced run: 120 × 200 g jars + 132 × 85 g tins, three scents: ₹49,277.60 of materials, ₹195.55 per piece on average, before labour, packaging, freight and GST.

Diwali 2026 back-schedule — 44 days from 25 September to Sunday 8 November Test and decide Oil order lead Pour Cure (14 days, assumed) Pack 25 Sep · D-44 5 Oct · D-34 12 Oct · D-27 17 Oct · D-22 31 Oct · D-8 8 Nov · Diwali Hand over 2 Nov Durations are working assumptions. CSI does not publish courier times or restock dates — confirm both on WhatsApp. Run priced below: 120 × 200 g jars + 132 × 85 g tins in three scents, ₹49,277.60 of materials.
Each block is a phase of the plan, drawn to scale across the 44 days. The pour window is deliberately short and early so that the last batch still gets a 14-day cure before packing. None of the durations is a CSI promise: courier timing and restock timing are not published, so the plan leaves slack around the oil order and asks you to confirm dates on WhatsApp.
Straight answer
How should I plan fragrance oils for Diwali gift candle production in 2026?
Work backwards from Sunday 8 November. If the candles must reach clients or shops by about 2 November, the last pour needs to happen by 17 October to give it a two-week cure, which means the production oil must be ordered around 5 October and your test candles poured by the end of September. That is why the decision has to be made in the first ten days of the 44 you have. Choose festive profiles most households welcome: this run uses Sandalwood, Jasmine and Cinnamon Vanilla, with Midnight Bakhoor Royale as a premium reserve. A 252-piece run of 120 White Matte jars and 132 aluminium tins needs 986.2 g of each oil with a 5% allowance — one 1 kg pack per scent — and about 35 kg of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks. Priced from CSI's listed catalogue, the whole bill of materials is ₹49,277.60. Order wax, wicks and containers today, because they do not depend on the scent decision. The durations in this plan are working assumptions; CSI does not publish courier times or restock dates, so confirm stock and dispatch on WhatsApp when you order.
One line: the scent decision must be made by 5 October; everything after that is pouring, curing and packing against a fixed date.
Start the clock today with testers of the three run oils: Sandalwood 15 g ₹93.22, Jasmine 15 g ₹103.00 and Cinnamon Vanilla 15 g ₹106.20 — ₹302.42 in total. Each 15 g makes one 200 g test jar at 7.5% or two 85 g tins at 8% (13.6 g) with a little spare.

The back-schedule, dated

Diwali does not move. Everything else in your plan has to.

Most Diwali production problems are calendar problems. An oil that disappointed in testing cannot be swapped once the pour window has opened; a batch poured on 1 November is not a cured candle on 8 November; and a gifting client who wants delivery a week early has just taken seven days out of your plan. The only way to see the pressure is to write the dates down, starting from the one you cannot move and working back to today.

Back-schedule for Diwali, Sunday 8 November 2026 · every duration is a working assumption
From D-44 to Diwali — what happens on each date
Date Days to Diwali Milestone What you do
Fri 25 Sep D-44 Shortlist and order testers Pick 3 scents to test plus 1 reserve; order 15 g testers. Order wax, wicks and containers now — they do not depend on the scent decision.
Tue 29 Sep D-40 Pour test candles Two 85 g tins per oil at 8% (13.6 g, inside one 15 g tester), or one 200 g jar at 7.5%, in your production wax and containers. Assumes testers are in hand; ask CSI for current dispatch timing — we do not publish one.
Mon 5 Oct D-34 Decide and order production oil First read after about six days of cure — a compromise forced by the date. Lock the three scents and order the production oil the same day.
Mon 12 Oct D-27 Pour window opens Assumes production oil has arrived; confirm on WhatsApp when you order. Pour the jars first, the tins last.
Sat 17 Oct D-22 Pour window closes Last pour. Everything poured by now has 14 days of cure by 31 October.
Sat 31 Oct D-8 Cure complete on the last batch Fourteen-day cure is our planning assumption for soy; your wax and oil may need more or less.
Mon 2 Nov D-6 Packed and handed over Six days before Diwali. Labels, sleeves and boxes are done in the cure window, not after it.
Sun 8 Nov D-day Diwali Sunday 8 November 2026.

Three assumptions carry this schedule, and you should replace each with your own. First, the 14-day cure: many soy makers cure container candles for one to two weeks before judging or selling them, and we plan on the longer end for gifts. Second, the hand-over on 2 November: corporate and retail gifting usually needs stock in hand a week before the festival, and if your client wants it earlier, every date above moves earlier by the same number of days. Third, the gaps around the two orders: we do not publish courier transit times, so the plan leaves several days between ordering and the next step. Ask on WhatsApp for current dispatch timing to your pin code when you order, and tighten or loosen the gap accordingly.

Order the scent-neutral materials today
Wax, wicks, containers, wick stickers and centring devices are the same whichever oils win the test. Ordering them on 25 September takes them off the critical path, lets you pour your test candles in the real containers, and leaves only the oil order to wait for your decision. The priced list in the run section splits cleanly into both orders.

If you are reading this later than 25 September, do not compress the cure first. Compress testing instead: test fewer oils, choose at least one scent you have already sold, and keep the two-week cure for the jars. If something has to give, pour the jars first and the tins last, so the bigger candles get the longer cure. And if a client has asked for delivery before 2 November, tell them the date this schedule gives you and let them decide; it is cheaper than a batch of under-cured candles.

Festive oils worth testing

A Diwali candle is a gift to a household, not to a person. Choose scents a whole family is comfortable with.

Diwali gifting in India leans to warm, traditional and familiar profiles: sandalwood, white florals, spice and vanilla, incense-like resins. That is reasoning about the festival, not sales data, and it is where most makers start. The table lists the in-stock candidates with their per-gram price at 100 g and at 1 kg, which is the size a production run will usually buy. We have not published throw measurements for any oil, so these are oils worth testing, chosen for festive fit, price tier and position in CSI's best-selling sort.

Mogra · Rajnigandha White floral Out of stock Out of stock — Every size out of stock on 24 Sep

The run on this page uses three oils from three different directions — a wood, a floral and a spice — so that a household that does not care for one can still enjoy another in the same gift range. Sandalwood is priced flat at ₹5.03 a gram from 100 g up, so the 1 kg is bought for convenience, not savings. Jasmine is one of the few oils where the kilo genuinely saves money, 8.8% per gram against the 100 g. Cinnamon Vanilla saves 5.9% at 1 kg. Midnight Bakhoor Royale is held in reserve for a premium box: it starts at 100 g, so its tester costs ₹799.00, which is why it is not in the main run.

Two oils in the table deserve care. Gilli Mitti — the smell of first rain on dry earth — is distinctive, and distinctive is a risk in a gift the recipient did not choose; test it on people outside your own team before committing. And the white florals that many makers would reach for first, Mogra and Rajnigandha, are out of stock in every size, so the plan substitutes Jasmine. We do not publish restock dates; do not build a Diwali run around an oil you cannot order today. For a broader recipient-led shortlist beyond Diwali, see best fragrance oils for gift candles.

The festive oil nobody tested cold. Diwali gifts are unboxed and smelled before they are lit, often in a room full of sweets, incense and diyas. An oil that performs well lit but reads faint cold can disappoint on opening. In your test, smell every candle cold after cure as well as burning, and note both on the score sheet. The walkthrough below builds that in.

A priced Diwali run

Here is a real run you can scale up or down: 120 White Matte jars at 200 g and 132 Golden Aluminium Tins at 85 g, split evenly across three scents — 40 jars and 44 tins of each. The jars are the gift-box candle; the tins are the add-on, the return gift or the office desk piece. At 8%, each jar holds 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax, and each tin 6.8 g of oil and 78.2 g of wax.

8% load · Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹599.00/kg · 1 kg oil rate · Eco Thin C1 wick ₹5.90
Material cost per piece, by oil and format
Oil (₹/g at 1 kg) Oil in jar 200 g jar total Oil in tin 85 g tin total
Sandalwood (₹5.03) ₹80.43 ₹267.34 ₹34.18 ₹116.92
Jasmine (₹3.92) ₹62.77 ₹249.68 ₹26.68 ₹109.42
Cinnamon Vanilla (₹4.55) ₹72.88 ₹259.79 ₹30.97 ₹113.71
Midnight Bakhoor Royale (₹8.00) ₹127.98 ₹314.90 ₹54.39 ₹137.13

Every jar in the run costs between ₹249.68 and ₹267.34 in materials, and every tin between ₹109.42 and ₹116.92. Swapping any of the three for Midnight Bakhoor Royale would add ₹47.56 to a jar compared with Sandalwood — worth it in a premium box, not in a mass one. The quantities for the whole run:

Cinnamon Vanilla 15 g ₹106.20
Midnight Bakhoor Royale 100 g (reserve; no 15 g listed) ₹799.00
Testers (order today) ₹1,101.42

That is ₹195.55 per piece on average across the 252 pieces, before labour, sleeves, boxes, freight and GST. The oil is ₹13,504.60 of the ₹49,277.60 — about 27.4% of the bill — the wax is ₹20,965.00, the single biggest line, and the jars ₹8,496.00 after it. After the run you will have about 42 g of oil left in the three bottles, which covers test burns and a small repeat order. The Midnight Bakhoor Royale reserve is optional; drop it if you are confident in the three.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The 10 kg bag of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is listed at ₹5,999.00, which is ₹599.90 a kilo — 90 paise more than the 5 kg bag at ₹599.00. So this list buys seven 5 kg bags, not three 10 kg bags and a 5 kg. The difference is small (₹27.00 on 35 kg), but it is the wrong way round from what most buyers assume, and it is on our own price list.

Buying the run without overpaying

With three kilos of oil on one order, the pack-size question is real money. The table compares one 1 kg pack with ten 100 g bottles of the same oil, which is what a maker nervous about committing to a kilo sometimes does:

Same oil, same 1,000 g · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
1 kg pack vs ten 100 g bottles
Oil 1 kg pack 10 × 100 g Difference Verdict
Sandalwood ₹5,026.80 ₹5,026.80 ₹0.00 No saving — buy what you will use
Jasmine ₹3,923.00 ₹4,300.00 ₹377.00 Kilo saves 8.8%
Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4,554.80 ₹4,838.00 ₹283.20 Kilo saves 5.9%

For Sandalwood the kilo and ten 100 g bottles cost exactly the same, so buy whichever suits your handling; smaller bottles are easier to keep sealed once opened. For Jasmine the kilo saves ₹377.00 and for Cinnamon Vanilla ₹283.20. That pattern holds across the catalogue: per-gram price breaks above 100 g are rare, and most oils are priced linearly. The reliable saving is moving up from 15 g, which carries a median 23.1% premium per gram. For a run larger than the listed packs, no discount figure is published; ask on WhatsApp for a quote, as the wholesale route for bulk gifting explains.

1
25 September: order the testers and the scent-neutral materialsTesters of the three run oils (and the reserve if you want it), plus the wax, jars, tins, wicks and stickers from the list above. Ask for the GST invoice with the order.
2
By 29 September: pour two tins (or one jar) per oilUse the same wax, container and wick you will produce with. Label each with oil, load and pour date. At 8% a jar takes 16 g and two tins 13.6 g, so one 15 g tester covers the two tins, or one jar at 7.5%; buy a second tester of any oil you want to test in both formats.
3
5 October: smell cold, burn, score, decideSix days is a short cure, and you should know it is a compromise. Smell each candle cold, then burn it for a couple of hours in a closed room and score it. Drop any oil that reads faint cold or that nobody in your household would choose.
4
5 October: order the production oilOne kilo per scent for this run. Ask on WhatsApp to confirm stock and dispatch timing; if one of your three is short, the reserve is already tested.
5
12–17 October: pour, jars firstJars first, tins last. Keep a pour log with batch, oil, weight and date so you can trace any problem to a batch. The bulk quantity guide shows how to size wastage if you are pouring several thousand pieces.
6
31 October–2 November: final check, pack, hand overSmell one candle from each batch cold before packing. Label with the scent name, net weight and burn instructions. If a corporate client needs MSDS or IFRA documents, you should already have asked us for them with the oil order — see corporate gift candles.
The CSI principle
Decide early, pour early, cure fully.
A Diwali plan has one fixed date and three flexible ones. The decision date is the one makers push, and pushing it squeezes the cure — which is the one step that most affects how the gift smells when it is opened. Protect the cure; compress the testing instead.

The three run oils and the premium reserve are below. The last column of each table shows how many 200 g jars (16 g of oil each at 8%) one pack scents.

What breaks a Diwali plan

Late Diwali runs rarely fail at the pour. They fail at the decision, the cure or the stock check.

A late decision. Every day the scent decision slips past 5 October comes out of the pour window or the cure. If you are undecided between four oils on 5 October, pick three and make the fourth a small follow-up batch. An oil that is out of stock when you order. Stock changes, and a size in stock on 24 September may not be on 5 October; that is why the plan tests a reserve. Confirm on WhatsApp before you tell a client which scents they are getting.

A load pushed up in panic. If a test candle seems weak, the temptation is to pour production at 12%. Check the wick and the cure first: a melt pool that does not reach the edge releases less scent at any load, and a six-day test candle is not the candle your client will burn. Stay within the wax maker's stated maximum — up to 13% for Chunks, up to 10% for CSI 464 — and remember that more oil also costs more: a Sandalwood jar at 10% costs ₹285.06 against ₹267.34 at 8%. For what drives scent in a jar, see strong fragrance oils for scented jar candles.

Too many scents. Five scents on a 252-piece run means five testers, five decisions, five leftover part-bottles and five label designs, all inside 44 days. Three is the number this plan uses; the 500-piece guide shows the split maths if a client insists on more. And if the order is corporate, with a hundred identical boxes, one scent may be the right answer — the 1,000-piece corporate guide covers that case. For the next season, the November–February weddings, wedding favour candles picks up where this page leaves off.

Diwali is on 8 November whether your candles are cured or not. Decide by the fifth.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A festive page is the easiest place to push urgency and big packs. This one tells you where the kilo does not save money (Sandalwood), where our 10 kg wax bag costs slightly more per kilo than the 5 kg, and that we do not publish courier or restock dates — so ask before you promise a client anything.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Tins, wicks and wick stickers are from the 24–25 September catalogue pull; the White Matte Glass Jar and Wick Centering Device are the figures verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Out-of-stock oils, including Mogra and Rajnigandha, are named as unavailable, not offered. Per-piece and run totals are plain arithmetic to two decimals.

Every duration in the back-schedule — the six-day test read, the 14-day cure, the ordering gaps and the 2 November hand-over — is a working assumption for planning, as are the 8% load and 5% wastage allowance. We have not published throw measurements for any oil. For stock confirmation, a quote, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documents, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start making candles for Diwali 2026?
Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026. For hand-over around 2 November with a 14-day cure, the last pour should be by 17 October, the production oil ordered around 5 October, and test candles poured by the end of September. If you are starting later, cut testing, not cure time.
Which fragrance is best for Diwali candles?
Warm, traditional profiles that a whole household is comfortable with: sandalwood, white florals such as jasmine, and spice with vanilla are common choices. On CSI, Sandalwood, Jasmine and Cinnamon Vanilla are in stock in every size; Midnight Bakhoor Royale suits a premium box. Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock. Test before committing — we have not published throw measurements.
How much does it cost to make a Diwali candle in a jar?
At an 8% load with 1 kg oil prices, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, an Eco wick and a White Matte jar, a 200 g candle costs ₹249.68 (Jasmine) to ₹267.34 (Sandalwood) in materials. An 85 g tin costs ₹109.42 to ₹116.92. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra.
How long should Diwali candles cure before gifting?
We plan on 14 days for soy container candles as a working assumption, and many makers cure for one to two weeks. Your wax and oil may differ, so smell a test candle cold and lit at different ages before you set your own figure.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 250 Diwali candles?
It depends on the format. For 120 jars at 200 g and 132 tins at 85 g at 8%, 2,817.6 g in total, or 2,958.5 g with a 5% allowance — three 1 kg packs across three scents. How Much Fragrance Oil Should I Buy for Diwali Candle Production? covers other run sizes and pack mixes.
Can I get a GST invoice and IFRA certificate for festive candle oils?
Yes. GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation are available on request from CSI. Ask on WhatsApp when you place the order, so the documents arrive before your client asks for them.
